Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

EDIT: Also, to anyone doing the F2P Play-a-Thon, are you finding that your logged playtime updates pretty quickly or does it usually take a few days? The website says it can take up to 4 days, but you never know with these things. I opted in and all that already.
Ya, it's delayed by a few days. As long as you're online it should be logging your time.

On a related note, it turns out having your controller plugged into an outlet isn't the same as having it plugged into the xbox. Clicker Heroes is built for leaving on overnight, my numbers are so big! God damn Skinner box has my soul!

Great selection for GwG. Shadow Warrior should get replaced in a couple regions for bonus, likely repeat, GwG. Crazy Taxi probably doesn't hold up, esp. w/o the soundtrack, but my nephew will still like it. Split/Second is a fun arcadey racer with some gimmicks to slow down people in the lead/on your tail. It has some serious rubberbanding and I recall needing to save "bombs" for last minute passes. I have not heard good things about AC:India, but I barely touched China so whatever.

Thanks for the response. You're right...my play time from a couple of days ago is showing up now. This promotion has been a great excuse to get into Pinball FX 3.

I haven't tried Clicker Heroes partially because I fucking KNOW it will get its hooks in me and I'll be a slave to the Skinner box grind, too.

Yep, I'm at Best Buy right now setting up delivery of a brand new set for tomorrow. They agreed the unit must be defective if I've done everything possible and I still can't even get it to recognize the HDMI signal. So, this sucks, but oh well, lesson learned. Don't try to save $50 and just go new from now on.
Good stuff that they replaced it with a new one. I bought a Samsung 55" off of Amazon Warehouse Deals a couple of years back figuring it was an open box based on the description at a significant reduction so it can work out.

There's a new Forzathon for Forza 7. I've been unable to complete the first challenge for Bathurst. Has anybody been able to complete it?

I’m at 188 entries now... Damn you, Fortnite!
I just checked mine today, 2,542 sweeps entries earned. You gotta get those numbers up!

I'm at 110 entries but I'm in the Hour per entry tier with double that after 80 hours.

Reached 20 hours on the Freedom Rewards Play-a-Thon promotion, so I'm earning 2 entries per 15 minutes in bonus time and am at 106 entries right now.

Did you see the last match when EUnited was spamming beat down executions for a stretch and the announcers went ape shit for it? Surprised I didn't see any of them get blindsided while doing that.
totally missed that one.

I'm watching this match between Fable and Gosuwhateverthefuck......man, I played against Hudsonz last year and he fucking single handledly wrecked my team of randoms. He was SO good. He looks like a complete nonfactor in this game. I know the competition is on another level but he is just so bad.

Damn, son! I'm in the 80 hrs, 1 hr per entry pool, and it just updated to 96* tickets earned. You had to have earned tickets faster, because I'm only seeing ~260 hrs since the offer started. The max I could have earned would be like 400*, less since it took me a few days to get my xbox to stay on overnight and I use my xbox for other things when I'm home.

*I know the tracker is delayed a bit, but I don't think I'm going to make up a 300 entry difference considering the factors I mentioned.

2 entries every 15 min?! I'm freaking hosed!

Checked the forza forums and these events seem to be glitching for everyone. I love so much about this game, but they screw so much stuff up, too!

I was curious and yeah looked up again, my number changed to 2,744 now. You get twice the entries after the 4 hours initial goal but it says you can only use up to 90 entries for the Grand Prize drawing, with the other bonus entries applying to the Xbox Gift Card drawing.

They have been messed up from the beginning. The thing to remember is to have a next race, if you're doing the quick race to get the challenges, as that seems to send the requirement off to their servers. The biggest thing that you should take advantage of with these Forzathons in FM7, they're not just one day or a weekend.

I redeemed a 3-month XBL code and I ended up getting 5 months (1 for turning on auto-renew). My expiration date went from mid-Feb to mid-July. I still have the free 3-month code from the Amazon glitch. Hopefully, it happens again.

HDMI cable is key. Without the latest hi-speed spec cable HDR will be a no show. I had the exact same problem with my so called Hi-Speed cables. If you run your signal through a receiver make sure it supports 4K pass thru and make sure you change both the cables. Use the ARC port on your receiver / TV if available.
All HDMI sold today cables are basically the same. You're falling for a scam and selling it. Please stop.

Hitting the backlog hard in the past few months on both PS4 and XB1. Wife and I play single player games side by side. Right now she's playing AC Origins and I've been knocking out several games. Constantly are talking to each other like an in person party chat, so I don't spend too much time playing multiplayer games anymore. My biggest problem tackling my backlog pre marriage (and before she started playing sp games instead of mp with me), was playing the same multiplayer games over and over again.

On Xbox I am mainly working on FFXV and testing out random games I've acquired to delete or keep to finish.

Keep: Marlow Briggs (surprisingly fun), Prey (own, so have to keep), Vermintide (fun, but I'll probably be playing solo)

Keeping, but on the fence: Skyforge (mmo ugh) , Zombi (start feels better than Wii U) , Your Toy (confusing game)

Delete: Van Helsing 3 (Too complicated for my small brain) , Deadfall Adventures (I picked up the TNT and threw it everywhere for 1t minutes and nothing blew up).

We are at 457 of 1234 Xbox 360 games that are backwards compatible. I hope they get closer to 75% before they cut it off completely.

still so many big and niche titles they can add. There's a handful of games I'm praying they add like Conan, Remember Me, War For Cybertron, Modern Warfare 2 and 3, and Fuse. I really don't like firing up my 360 these days, much rather would finish off my 360 backlog on the One.

75% seems high. How many sports game or games that have lost liscencing are there? I have to imagine that’s probably close to 20-25% of the total

False, do a google search for high speed HDMI before you start implying people are idiots. Also, are you Yoda? That first sentence is making my brain hurt.

Cheap HDMI cables can fail to meet throughput standards, by containing fewer wires (since previous hdmi tech didn't use all the connections/wires), by being a higher gauge (thinner) wire, or having low quality connections and failing certification. You can still find non-high speed cables on store shelves, and I can tell you from experience that they will not display a 4k signal.

That number seems awful low, I thought there would be like 3000 360 games or something.

"75% seems high. How many sports game or games that have lost liscencing are there? I have to imagine that’s probably close to 20-25% of the total"

Sports games, kinect tiles, old movie tie ins and delisted stuff like Raiden Fighters and Deathsmiles. They can probably do BC for another 3 years before the well runs dry.

Are you adding the XBLA games? There's another 719.

I think Wikipedia is fucked up because they aren't adding both totals. So right now we are only at 23% of the library for BC titles. Probably slight more when you factor in delisted titles, but some of those titles go BC anyways like Driver San Francisco or Forza Horizon 1 which u can still get on disc.

Although theres no plan to make indie games BC you have to factor in even more titles. There were some indie titles that never even went to Steam.

Now if you want to bump up the % remove all the sports games. I'd say we have to be over 30% at this point.

We got a long ass way to go before all titles are BC. But I think in a few years there won't be any big ones that don't get remastered or are considered very niche. Then you have titles like Metal Gear HD collection and Tales of Vesperia that may never go BC because the publishers are a bunch of meanie heads.

My “Retire The 360” quest takes another step forward after completing Dust earlier this week. For some reason, I’ve decided to knock out the last achievement I need in NFL Head Coach 09. Need 20 successful defining moments for the completion.

This game was such a let down. I’m usually a geek for sports management sims, but they just do not work in consoles. Baseball Mogul and Football Manager for the PC blow the feeble attempts consoles have made out of the water. Which is basically Head Coach and MLB Front Office Manager.

I'll never retire my 360 till I can buy 360 games with my credit. The system is literally the only way to use credit to buy games.

But yeah I don't think NFL Head Coach is going to be BC anytime soon lol.

Careful, if word of this gets out to he that shall not be named, it'll summon him here.

Fortnite seems to need an update like all the time, more so now that they're running the BR mode like it's own game with server/social issues almost daily. I kinda wish they'd splinter off, all I want to do is play Save the World sometimes.

Haven't played in a while - backed a bunch of research points lol - and it looks nice, effects are more prevalent/ added geometry and items are noticable too. I figured after doing some StW I'd hop into BR and take advantage of the fact that my client is up to date. Went in with Solo mode - really just to get my numbers up for the optional level experience side quest - and after finishing 68, 47th, I got down to 3rd! With lucky chest locations, pre-planned and smart tactics I managed to stay fairly competitive and also snipe a guy across a raveen who was also shooting me lol. That was from the sniper tower which I built up to and eliminated that guy, using his gold sniper rifle to accomplish such a feat - highlight of my night! Then boiled down to one are where I made a small fort, lured a guy from up top a cliff in and thought I could take him with a shot gun but the firefight left me dead. Man, that really drives up your heart beat. fuck I'm not going to be able to get to sleep atm.

I'm looking forward to the summer so I can buy Monster Hunter World for around $20. Watching some streams and I'm tempted.

All HDMI sold today cables are basically the same. You're falling for a scam and selling it. Please stop.
False, do a google search for high speed HDMI before you start implying people are idiots.
I did that Google search you suggested and this was one of the first results: https://www.cnet.com/news/4k-hdmi-cables-are-nonsense/

Unless you have extremely old or extremely cheap cables, the cables most people have are likely already high speed cables that will work with 4K. There's a cheap $10 cable in my Amazon order history that I bought in 2011 before 4K was even a thing, and the order page for that cable now shows that it works with 4K even though it didn't mention that at all at the time I bought it.

So I feel like the point Gsdriver was getting at is a valid one, though to be fair it could have been phrased more clearly and less insultingly, and they could have elaborated on their point a bit better. I'm sure lots of people have replaced their older high speed cables with newer high speed cables just because the new one says 4K on the box because they didn't know any better.

Agreed ... just 1s and 0s moving. Either they make it to the other end of the cable (and an image appears) or they don't (no image). Yet people still spend $75+ for Monster Ultra Platinum HDMI cables. That's where the meat is on the bone at Best Buy ... add-ons.

I pre-ordered Monster Hunter World and am loving every second of it. My only complaint is that the scoutflies overload you with information. I'm sure I'll get used to it though. I should also note that I've been playing Monster Hunter since the PSP days

Here's hoping that red faction guerilla, all 3 lost planet, darkness 1&2 become bc.
Red Faction Guerilla showed up on a bunch of Euro Gamestop sites as an X1 remaster, so take that for what it's worth. Plenty of games like the Metro series, Saints Row 3/4 and Darksiders which had 360 & X1 games ended up becoming backwards compatible.

Worth noting - THQ Nordic's other game went BC so there's hope. That game? Deadfall Adventures

I'll never retire my 360 till I can buy 360 games with my credit. The system is literally the only way to use credit to buy games.

But yeah I don't think NFL Head Coach is going to be BC anytime soon lol.
I can understand the sentiment about using credit, but I think I spent $20 on 360 games in the last year, and they were all $2-4 BC games, so it wasn’t a bit hit to the wallet. I think the last time I bought a non-BC digital game was 2 years ago in the hopes those titles would become BC.

Random question: in the Xbox Rewards Being Doctor mission, is anyone else having trouble with the achievement mission? It says complete five achievements in the game(s) you purchased. Does that mean five EACH? Or just 5? Because I completed 5 in both Knee Deep and Another World Days ahk and nothing’s popped. I also bought Soul Axiom, Octodad, and Rime so I don’t know if it actually means each.

I played monster hunter world for a few hours and am enjoying it. It's my first game in the series but it seems well made. Some textures look a little lower quality and it seems like the game has a blur effect that makes far away objects not crisp looking. I'm on a Xbox one s so it probably looks better on the x so it gives me another reason to want it.

Controls take a little to get used to but don't seem as bad as I've heard people complain. I'm still learning and have only tried 1 out of the 14 weapon types. Rumor has it that all future dlc will be free, which is nice to hear even if I have no clue what it will actually be.

Longshot is available again in the Gears stream.

When dealing with XBL Rewards, always give it 3-4 days for progress to appear on the site. Has it been that long?
