Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Can I get some opinions on:

Fallout 3, Darkness II, Skate 3 and Mighty No. 9?
Well mighty no. 9 seemed to have derailed off the hype train that couldn't deliver. I still bought it shortly after it was released. Try mega man, blaster master zero or mighty gunvolt burst instead . That would be my suggestion unless you really want to play that specific game.

My personal preference is fallout 4 over fallout 3.

Not sure how much skate 3 is, but it’s a game you might find for $5 or less at a pawn shop. I see it often, looks great on my Xbox one x. If you like skating you should own it.

Is the first State of Decay worth getting now that the second one is out? I know I can get it 'free' in the Ultimate Edition of the second game, but it would be cheaper to buy the base second game and part one separately. I know I could do the Game Pass to try it out, but I'd rather put the money I'd spend on Game Pass towards the actual purchase, plus with school starting in a few weeks game time is going to tank.

Fallout 3 is a good game and, I'm not sure on the sale price, $15 and under for the base game and all DLC is a very good deal. The graphics may not be wicked good compared to fallout 4, but it holds up well. I like the karma system that they basically took out of 4, being good/bad has a noticeable affect on interactions with NPCs.

Destiny 2 + expansion pass for $20 has me interested. Is the campaign fun enough to play solo? I heard the end game has its problems, but 20 bucks for a good, meaty campaign sounds worth it. If it helps shed any light, I liked the solo campaign for The Division, and its end game has me coming back to it even if I only play solo. I have never played the first Destiny.

Usually lurking, and watching/reading stuff. I had to press like about giveaway with his mom doing better!!! More good news is great!

Good luck everyone! Have a great weekend gamers!!

MN9 is bad. I wanted to love it and gave it a very honest chance. I still replay all 6 NES Mega Man games at least once a year, and Shovel Knight is one of my favorite releases of the last few years.

MN9 is lacking so much polish, though. The opening level is fun, and then the boss levels end up being so poorly executed.

I paid $5-10 for a clearance copy at Target and wanted my money back.

Thank you both for asking about it and providing the link on Hitman summer series.

I would have missed it.

Now getting time to play it is a whole different story.

Fallout 3 is fun for exploring and the dlc is nice. Main story is okay but the ending is final unless you buy dlc. Aiming and shooting is clunky so you might be relying on vats a lot.

Darkness 2 is incredibly short (I beat it in 3 hours on normal) but it’s pretty fun to play. Story is a bit of a trip, but it does assume you played the first game.

Skate 3 is a fine skateboarding game with a ton of freedom. It’s not like Tony Hawk gameplaywise as you use the right stick to do tricks. Also has a fun mode dedicated to shattering as many bones as possible.

Mighty No. 9 is the one I’d least recommend. Was not a fan of the level design and I feel for a Mega Man game that’s the most important.

Do not buy Mighty #9. At any price. I was a fool, but let my sacrifice not be in vain. It’s nigh unplayable and you’d be better served converting your money into change and swallowing it whole.
Mighty No. 9 is not a bad game. If you enjoy 2D platformers it's definitely worth $5.

Funny I just started playing a disc copy of this last night even though I've had it since last year. I only got though the opening stage and it seemed better than I would have guessed based on most of the opinions I've seen. Having not tried a boss level yet, I'm apparently about to be disappointed.

Skate 3 might be my least favorite of the Skate series, but is still a pretty good game. Like Red Dead Redemption if you are running it on an One X it looks like a brand new game, hopefully they do some more "upgrades" for some of the 360 BC titles.

Just the other day I finished The Testament of Sherlock Holmes for the 360. I still have a friend borrowing my Xbox One X so it was perfect time to play this non-bc title. (It's oddly refreshing to clear out another good game from the backlog).

If I had to rate all the Sherlock Holmes games I've played it would go like this

1st: Crimes and Punishment

Tie for for 2nd: The Testament of Sherlock Holmes/Devil's Daughter

Last place: Jack the Ripper

All the games are fun if you like this genre. It's was hard to go back to Jack the ripper after playing Crimes and punishment. All of them are easy 1000/1000 Achievements. Devil's Daughter is still on Game Pass for those interested.

The opening level is what was used as the demo, which I enjoyed and it influenced my interest in the game. Some of the levels are just poorly thought out and unnecessarily difficult / cheap / not planned well. MM has traditionally been tough-but-fair, (although the Mega Man Zero games are pretty masochistic), MN9 is more "why did they think this would be fun?"

Shovel knight treasure trove is pretty great. I have it on the switch and look even it!

I don't know if I'd call the campaign meaty. It's decent, and I think it's about 8 - 10 hours to finish, but this does include a bit of busy work grinding at a couple of spots. The added value of the DLC story missions is low, about 2 hours max to finish each.

You can NOT replay the campaign whenever you want unless you make a new character. Once you finished a mission you can't reselect it. The only way to replay these missions is either the single daily challenge mission available, or three a week from a vendor that gives you "meditations" for higher level gear. I don't think this is being changed with the upcoming expansion, but you will finally be able to select individual Strikes like D1 again.

Most of the end game content is pretty much forced to be co-op. Until you can select the individual Strikes your only option is the matchmaking playlist, or the likely too-hard solo Nightfall version. The Raids are designed for 6 players, and on the rare occasion they can be completed solo, it's only by god-tier players. The only things yo can really do solo off the top of my head are the before mentioned meditations and theoretically public events, but any random could come up.

That said, generally having matchmade co-op partners isn't a hindrance, but if you are a solo only player you will not be able to do stuff like the Raids, the upcoming Escalation Protocol, or activities like Court of Oryx or Prison of Elders if they or similar modes come to D2.

So if t please the crowd, I’ve got two less than stellar games tugging at a $38 heartstring...

1) is there enough single player action-figure fun to justify $23 for MvC Infinite?

2) Star Wars Battlefront 2: same question but for $15.
1. No. Single-player $15 or under.

2. Definitely. $20 and under a steal.

Does anyone know if Just cause 3 XL edition comes with everything? Might actually buy something for myself  :D/

also fallout new vegas for only 7.49 is a steal, now do I get it and play through for like the 9th time  :whistle2:k

Anyone have thoughts on Cities: Skylines? I've been eyeing this for awhile and feel like $16 is a good price for the base game.

Hey all,

Can I get your help understanding the FH3 Platinum Plus Expansion Bundle? It looks like a good deal ($40 for all game content). Is this “Play Anywhere” and what exactly does that mean? Does it matter which version I buy if I’ll mainly be playing on Xbox? I have lucked into ownership of a Surface Pro 3, will I be able to play on that? Is progress shared between Xbox and Win? Achievement lists shared or separate?

Sorry if these are obvious... I’m new to the cross play realm.

Thanks!

Yes this is Play Anywhere, and that means purchasing any version of the game digitally will allow you to install and play it on both XB1 and PC. Your game save will be synchronized across both platforms and the achievement list is shared. Not sure if your Surface Pro 3 will be able to run it (very unlikely)

I know someone responded to the same question earlier but is Battlefront 2 worth $15 for the Campaign? idk if I will play the MP alot.
Absolutely I had a blast with the campaign and if you're playing on a one x and 4k tv it looks freaking amazing! I didn't play too much of the multiplayer maybe 3 hours is all and I feel like I definitely got my moneys worth out if it with the $25 or $30 I paid for it around Christmas.

Playstation's trophy sound is better than Xbox's achievement sound. Don't @ me... whatever that means.
The Xbox rare achievement sound is quite nice.

That said, generally having matchmade co-op partners isn't a hindrance, but if you are a solo only player you will not be able to do stuff like the Raids, the upcoming Escalation Protocol, or activities like Court of Oryx or Prison of Elders if they or similar modes come to D2.
Escalation Protocol is out now, and while there is no match making you are matched up with whatever random folks that are in the same patrol area (like Court of Oryx and Archon's Forge). The activity takes a lot of coordination and I think the loot is worth the effort, so doing some sort of match making on the console or at bungie.net or one of many other mechanisms is worth the small amount of effort required. Having six or nine guardians together to melt wave after wave of Hive is a lot of fun.

The new hotness for Forsaken will be Gambit, which is a combination of PvE and PvP that has a lot of people excited. Bungie has made it available to the public at E3 and GuardianCon and has put the videos online for everyone's viewing pleasure. This activity will have match making built in (like Prison of Elders, but not like Challenge of Elders).

Anyone have thoughts on Cities: Skylines? I've been eyeing this for awhile and feel like $16 is a good price for the base game.

I was eyeing it for a long time as well and instantly downloaded when it was added to gamepass. Unfortunately, while I had fun with if for a few days, I quickly became bored/frustrated with it. I may give it another shot but I doubt I'd buy it once it leaves gamepass unless it's under $10.

When buying as a gift, you can use your own email address and then PM the code. That's how I did the recent I, Hope and Cuphead drawings.

Also, good to hear about echotech83's mom's recovery.

The request for an email address raised my eyebrow when I read that. I haven't done any gifting, but does the process really ask for the recipient's email address instead of gamertag? That seems like a big security and/or privacy issue right here. Knowing the email address is potentially an easy start to hacking someone's Xbox account. Not to mention people might use parts of their real name in their email address, but might not have their name displayed on their gamertag profiles.
