Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

You must’ve been seeing one movie a month then, otherwise that doesn’t add up. Regardless, MP appears about done. I haven’t had any issues so far since my fave theater takes e-ticketing, but the writing is on the wall.
4 movies plus 9.99 is $19.95 or $24 out of pocket. so I was alittle off. Did try to use MP today since I'm paid up till the 1st and lo and behold I kept getting a error message.

Yep, that's exactly it. That's actually the thread I read through which made me change the output resolution to 1080p. So far, so good with the resolution change, so it may be a wattage issue.
If you figure anything out let me know. The X does use more power, first I read much of the S but I think someone posted on reddit issues with the S to. The S uses a lot less voltage/power. Both our newer TCL tvs use less.

The S definitely uses less voltage, but I think the power draw between the television and the 4K output it's just not getting enough power from my setup. if it starts happening with 1080p then I will test it more with other platforms to see if it actually is the television or the console.

2 Days remaining on the sale... I guess it's time to review what there is and make sure I'm not passing on anything I would play before the Christmas sale.

So I’ve been trying to buy Boom Boom Rocket for weeks now, but I get an error both online and on my 360. I contacted Microsoft support, and they confirmed that it was a problem on their end, and they opened a ticket for me. This was about two weeks ago. Now they’re ghosting me. I’ve sent two emails saying that I still can’t purchase it, and have gotten no response. It’s really frustrating :(

Debating between The Surge:  Complete Edition, Castlevania:  Harmony of Despair and its DLC, DeBlob 2 (to play with the kids) and X-Morph Defense.  I can probably only get two of those four options.  Any thoughts on which route to go?  Would appreciate any advice.  Thanks.

It depends on if you want solo gameplay or co-op.

The Surge is a bit like Dark Souls but not as polished. The main issue I had was the areas felt very similar and the character control felt off. You can select specific body parts to dismember which was nifty.

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair is not a typical Castlevania game. More of an arcade-style kill the enemies and get to the boss in the time limit and kill him. I can't recall if your character can level up or get better gear. It can be fun with the right co-op partner. I never played the DLC for it so I'm not sure what all it adds aside from a few characters and levels. It's not backward compatible and your guess is as good as anyone else's if it will ever go that way.

I played the first DeBlob and I had some fun with it not sure if anything has changed for the second one I assume it's more of the same just different levels. What I played was fun in short burst it got very repetitive at times and had me wishing the levels were shorter. In the first game if you did not 100% the level before completing it when you went back into it you had to start over from scratch which made me say screw it and stop playing.

X-Morph I've never played sorry so I can't give an opinion.

Debating on getting

Enter The Gungeon
Jotun
Livelock
Chroma Squad

I've spent some $$$ buying the rest of the pinball tables I needed , some of the cheapie ( Western Press , Super Mutant Alien Assult ) and The Count Lucanor.

Sometimes I forget that I preordered Kingdom Hearts:

I ordered a ton of things knowing my GCU was going to expire. Now, when something shows up in the mail, I’m like, oh, I forgot I preordered that.

So when KH III finally comes in my mailbox in 2030, i’ll really be shocked.

Punt. If picking one, I'd say get the one to play with the kids.

I put $5 down on Dead Island 2 at my local MS store 2 or 3 years ago.

I've been playing Enter the Gungeon all week. It can be hard as balls, but the gameplay feels great and the guns are very entertaining.

Would it be safe to assume Crackdown 2 will go BC sometime before 3 is released? (Ha) It's on sale for it's lowest price according to Storeparser. The original went BC earlier this year.

I'm gonna say yes, unless there are some serious licensing issues no MS game should not go BC. So basically anything not racing.

The questions going forward are: GWG? Gamepass? Even dirt cheap you have to consider the odds.

I've only played a tiny bit of the first one, it felt nothing like Halo to me, but I know people love the first three.

I played all the mass effect games, and none of them play /shoot like Halo. The shooting can get fun though, especially in 2 & 3, but it's far from what Halo is like. If you still have a 360 I think the demo for mass effect 2 is still up. There's enough shooting in that demo for you to gauge if you like it or not.

They're action rpgs, so half of the game is shooting and the other half is walking around looking at stuff/talking to people. As far as the shooting goes: it's more like Gears of War in that you need to slam yourself behind waist-high cover more often than not. The first game's combat is VERY clunky, even when it first game out but it improved dramatically in the sequel.

ME1-3 is a trilogy, and as such things you do carry over. If you decide to skip 1 I'd would suggest getting the dlc comic thingy in 2 that lets you put in what choices you would have picked if you played 1 because the default choices prevents you from seeing a lot of things. As a newcomer you might like Andromeda, but it is for the most part terrible. Also the multiplayer in 3 and Andromeda are not split-screen.

Thanks for the insight, same to the others too.

Does your last sentence mean multiplayer in 1 & 2 are splitscreen?

Ended up getting Hellblade (this game is wild & I think I’m hearing voices now), Agents of Mayhem Total Mayhem Bundle and Spintires: Mudrunner (I had a taste of simulation games for the first time thanks to GamePass, I thought about Farming Simulator 17, but saw decent reviews so I went with this instead). I have $1.51 left, I may get Lara Croft DLC or a Pinball table or I’ll just save it since it doesn’t have expiration. My free year of GamePass I got from Fanfest last year expired recently but I got a couple of 14 day trials I’ll hang on to until something good pops up in there. Now I’m just waiting on Nier Automata and Monster Hunter to get discounted to my liking ($30 or less), maybe during End of Summer Sale if that’s a thing, and I can wait for No Man’s Sky.

Just not much for me to bite on this sale.  Picked up Super Contra so far.  First sale in Store Parser's 3 years of tracking.  Might've been on sale farther back, might've had a price drop at some point, but $2.49?  Ok.  Thought MS Rewards might start picking up on 360 purchases since the end of XBL Rewards, but doesn't appear to be the case.

Will probably get The Count Lucanor.

Looked at Life is Strange, since it's at a new low point.  But I apparently already own it.  Store doesn't show that unless I attempt to buy it, same with a lot of other things I checked out.  May bite on the 360 version (DwG) for achievement double dipping, may wait for a lower price.  Before the Storm can go lower.

Maybe Dead Island remastered collection.  Another low price point.

BioShock Collection, Witcher 3 complete - repeating same price time and again.  Maybe if I could find a Mixer partner.  Was jumping around to streams, and one of them had the bot announce in the chat when someone started watching, so I got a "Hey, how's it going, Bloomy?" as I was closing the tab.

Just Cause 3 XL, another repeat price, but at $9 doesn't qualify for the Mixer promo.

Batman Telltale - has been lower.  Fallout 4 GOTY - price repeat.  Same with the pass, since the main game is on Game Pass.  360 Far Cry games have been lower.  Doom just had a price drop, so it will probably the same or better during the holidays.

Will give more thought to Hellblade and Owlboy, but they'll probably end up lower before getting out of the backlog, so they may be a pass for now.  Will also go through Pinball FX tables.  Guess I need to check what I have downloaded for FX2 or import them into FX3 for the current entries on the marketplace to show up as owned.

Do they still do the mixer promo? Haven't seen it in forever.

Agreed on all pts. Don't bother with anything unless It's a record low. Also Hellblade is amazing...but MS owns the studio so Gamepass lol

Went light on this sale... grabbed Mini Ninjas, Torchlight, and Xbox One Rayman Legends. Wanted to buy a few more things, but indecision and being broke put a stop to those plans. I waffled so much on Recore I feel like I should be drenched in syrup.

But yeah, regarding Mass Effect. 2 is the pinnacle of the series, easily. 3 is more of the same, but Electronic Arts deviated slightly from the cover fire gameplay, resulting in a less predictable, but also more flawed experience. Turns out you really need those waist high walls to survive against all those alien soldiers.

Thanks for the insight, same to the others too.

Quite the opposite. Mass Effect 1 and 2 are only single player games. The multiplayer modes in 3 and Andromeda are an afterthought compared to the single player modes in those games.

The entire Mass Effect series is worth a playthrough, just don't expect it to satisfy a multiplayer gaming itch.

Used the Ultimate Game Sale mainly to repurchase digital copies of Xbox 360 BC games I already owned on PS3.  Got to love the performance improvements you get when running Xbox 360 games on an X1X.

Didn't buy much from this sale, happy with what I got:

Ori and the Blind Forest DE
Just Cause 3 XL
Battlefield 1 Revolution
Rayman Legends (360)
Tomb Raider (360)

Most games fell into three statements:

1.) Already bought from PSN sales recently.
2.) Repeat prices and/or don't care to buy them now.
3.) Potential to go GWG or GamePass.

I want to take advantage of the Ultimate Game Sale's 3 months of Gold promotion. Ideally, I'd subscribe on the 1st of August. Will the promotion run until then or should I get it before the 1st?

Grabbed all of the Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance characters, Super Contra, and Frogger of all things on my 360 this morning before work. Possibly grabbing Deadlight and This War of Mine: The Little Ones on Xbox One when I get home from work if my $5 Xbox Live credit deposit comes in time. Also considering the HOD maps, but I don't know if I need those.

The combat and MP in Andromeda were great, though. That game has it's flaws, but it's not a bad game. It just didn't live up to the legacy of the original games, the story is kinda dull. I still think it's pretty good as a scifi RPG, if you don't go in expecting ME2 quality.

The MP is basically its own horde mode, and performance can influence SP. I did lose interest after I finished the game though.

If you look at the product page for XBL, it'll say there are 3 days left for the sale price, but it's not reliable - they've ended promotional prices before the listed dates. Someone posted an ad for this XBL promotion, and it did say it was for the Ultimate Game Sale, which ends today, so I would get in on it now. Joining today should put your expiration date around Nov. 1, so you should be able to get that month's first pair of games if they're not delayed - usually, they're up the day before the new month.

If you want to save a couple of more bucks, use a cashback site like TopCashback or ebates. I know TCB gives back $5 on 3-mo. XBL, so you'll only be paying $5 for XBL. They also give $10 back on 12-mo. XBL, so that's like paying $30 for a year of XBL once you get the money back. I went with the 3-mo. since it's a better cashback rate and there's always a $1 XBL Gold month at the end of Nov. and another one at the end of Dec.

Castlevania levels are 100% worth getting. I got them before I ever bought the characters and they were totally worth it. I bought them at full price and have no regrets. Grab them.

Thanks, I'll do just that. Wouldn't want to miss the promotion because of wanting to squeeze a little bit more out of it.

Final haul from the ultimate game sale

City of Brass

Masters of Anima

LiveLock

3 Months of Game Pass

I've only played City of Brass so far but again the game is really fun and they just added more free content to the game this weekend. Three new playable characters with new weapons. The solider class is my new favorite. I am really enjoying the game.

I didn't get much in this sale. Just Mini Ninjas, probably wont ever play it unless it goes BC. I also got the rest of the Fallout New Vegas DLC I didn't have.

Never heard of Sinemia, but after looking into it from seeing those posts, I think we're going to switch after we cancel Movie Pass. Thanks!
I got out of MoviePass once AMC released their A-List. They are all over where I'm at and the one 5 minutes away from me plays 95% of the movies I want to see, and then the AMC on the southside gets 2-3 independents each month so that covers the others. It's easily been worth it for me. By the end of my first month I'll have watched 12 movies (3 a week) for $19.95. Totally worth it, only things excluded are the premium events like Fathom events, Studio Ghibli showings, and things like that. I would bet the marathons of Marvel movies or double features of things are also excluded, but they haven't had one since I've been part of it.

I'm gonna say yes, unless there are some serious licensing issues no MS game should not go BC. So basically anything not racing.

The questions going forward are: GWG? Gamepass? Even dirt cheap you have to consider the odds.
That's true. The original was GWG back at the beginning of the program.

Still puzzled on why there isn't more racing games like forza not on gwg or gamepass. Forza 5 I believe was a launch title and still isn't on there yet.
At least horizon 2 will finally be available for free download.
I own them all on disc day one, but would be nice to have them available on one of the two services to download. I could then clear some shelf space.

My XBO X has stopped detected my one external HDD.

Tried resetting the console, power down power up the HDD, etc and nothing works.  Any suggestions? It's still recognizing the other fine.

I'm maybe an hour from the end of hellblade. I really like it. There was one frustrating section but other than that the puzzles are interesting and combat isn't wicked hard, but a little repetitive. My one complaint is that all but one achievement is story related and the last one for "collectibles" requires a guide for some of them that are hidden.

I've picked up:
Ruiner
Hellblade
Ultimate Alliance during the weekly sale

Was thinking about enter the gungeon but it can wait.

Considering:
Late Shift
I played it on gamepass and it is very short. If you still have a trial for gamepass I'd play it that way. If you like achievements it can be completed in a few hours with a guide. If you just want to play through it once naturally and then be done it will be like 90 minutes I think. I didn't follow a guide the first playthrough and played through it like 3.5 times and it took 4 or 5 hours. I don't know what the sale price is but if it's over $5 I'd pass unless you're really interested in it. It was an interesting game, the first of the type I've played, now I want to go play the bunker.

For all of you on the fence about the count lucanor, here's your chance to no longer be fence sitting :)

Like this post for a chance to win

The Count Lucanor fo free

I'll be picking someone this evening before the sale ends.

I've found that luck is quite predictable. If you want more luck, take more chances. Be more active. Show up more often.
