Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I didn’t see too much but I’m hoping there’s more to the mcc update than what I saw so far. It looks to be a downgrade. No voting means they choose your map and game type. Very disappointing.

But if halo 3 is bc, and it being my favorite of the games, I see no reason why I can’t grab that and play like normal, but then I don’t understand the point of mcc.
Because it's a completely different title with different programming, it's not taking the Xbox 360 or the BC version of Halo 3 and putting a front end on it. It has nothing to do with the 360 version.

I was gonna check out FM7 for the free weekend or download Quantum Break and beat it before my gamepass expires, but after going 4GB under my wonderful Comcast 1TB data cap this month (I had to turn off my modem with two days left) I changed my mind.  We are nomrally at 700GB.  It was our first full month with the new 4K tv. Not sure if we streamed that much 4k to make that big of a difference or if more games/updates were the main cause.

People never understand my logic on this, after going over and paying $100+ for 50mbps from COX we finally switched to CenturyLink. It's locked in at $45/mo for 25mbps but unlimited data. At work ppl ask me why we don't get the new COX 150mbps plan and I say how we kept going over the 1TB limit and most people still don't even seem to realize a cap exists. Us heavy users getting our GWG and cheap games that are 100's of GB pay the price, lol.

I did it! :D/ I beat Resident Evil in 2:58:49. Screw that game with the camera angles and wonky controller movement. Now to reply with unlimited rocket gun.

The one redeeming feature of Spectrum, no data cap from 25 up to 400 down. (Acquired All In while out for dinner, tangentially ok since I sub to an official provider. So so good.)

Same here spectrum left to go to the store and when i got back fm7 was ready for me gotta love that

Just enjoy it for the next 5 years. The only reason Spectrum doesn't have a datacap is because the FCC made it so they couldn't put data caps for at least 7 years when Charter merged with Time Warner and Brighthouse.

Has anyone here been playing Strange Brigade? I am thinking about getting it at full price because it looks so fun. I was just curious if anyone else picked it up recently and had some feedback on the game on XBox One.

Thanks :)

I was tempted to buy it at full price on release day but I decided to wait until it gets a discount, which will probably be in the near future. I know a few guys on TA who 100%'d the game that really liked it but they all played with a group and said if they had to do it solo, they would've enjoyed it a lot less.

Get it! It's a ton of fun. Maybe my favorite game so far this year. The campaign is fun and definitely repayable with all the hidden items. The horde mode is just as fun and I find myself having trouble putting it down. I highly recommend it!

The game pass $2 deal is expiring in <19 hours...just did it and it’s still giving the bonus month. I purposely waited till today to stretch another day or two of FH4 but even purchasing on 9/3 it still expires 11/1. Oh well I feel good about a month of game play for $2.
Thanks for the reminder. I have $5 expiring on 9/10 ($75 expiring on 9/28), and I can almost never seem to find game deals good enough to make me bite. I think I'll probably spend the $2 to give gamepass a try. I'll wait until tonight to see the drops, though (are there drops tonight, or do they postpone them a day for the holiday?)

Wish I didn't miss out on the $2 for 2 XBL Gold deal.  Not too much into Game Pass as of now, needs to build a larger catalog like EA Access has now.

Build a larger catalogue? EA Access has just over 60 titles while game pass boasts over 180 games, three times as much. MS already has their AAA newer games on the service, from Gears 4 to Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2(with Forza Horizon 4 right around the corner). Even their exclusives near launch are in the service, like Ryse and Dead Rising 3. What games specifically are you referring to?

Still waiting for Snake Pass to be added to game pass. Itching to play that one

Halo 3 is probably my favorite 360 game, and I generally keep it installed, but I think the MCC update makes that version the better option to play in 2018, especially since LAN is now there.

The removal of voting is to mitigate quitting. The MCC population was in dire condition before the update, and if something won that people didn't like they would quit, essentially guaranteeing uneven teams every game. I don't know if this was the best solution but I don't really see what else they could do. When they get the custom game browser in it should cover this issue, you just won't be ranked if you play that way.

In theory both Halo 3 and 4 have the benefit of more playlist options if you play the 360 originals, but in practice they really don't. I've only booted up 3 recently, but virtually all playlists are unplayable due to low population outside of basic Team Slayer, and sometimes Big Team. On top of this, even with all the DLC free it seems many players don't have some of it downloaded, so it NEVER shows up. Have fun playing Boundless 80% of your games. I imagine Halo 4 is less populated.

Benefits of playing the MCC version of 3

-1080p on Xbone, 4k on X

-60 FPS

-All DLC maps guaranteed in playlists

Benefits of 360 version of 3

-4k HDR on X but no upgrade on Xbone, other than slightly smoother 30 FPS

-Individual armor pieces select-able instead of full set only.

-Theoretically more playlist choice and old ranking system still in place.

-Possibly smoother LAN experience, haven't tested Xbone implementation yet.

If Reach ever gets added to MCC and/or Xbox One X Enhanced, there may be more of a discussion as it's better populated that 3 on 360. The issue there will be if the Bungie settings or ruined 343 TU settings are what they use in MCC.

I understand your logic, but completely disagree with it personally. Back in 2003, my local phone company was the first to offer broadband internet. Comcast let them get a foothold with their awful DSL service, it was 25/25 IIRC, and my connection was worse than 56K. Every time I tried playing a match of Jedi Outcast, at some point everything on my side would just freeze, and my opponents would get easy kills on my motionless body. Fast forward to today, my local phone company has long since been bought out by CentryLink, they still only offer 25/25 here, (For only 19.95 a month for 5 years!) and it's just as shitty as it was 15 years ago. I used to work for my aunt who is as cheap as they come, and when she had to finally break down and get internet for her business because it was required for the security system she installed, she went with CentryLink. It took me two hours to download less than 30 minutes of video surveillance (720P quality) from my house on my Comcast 100mbps connection, because the upload speed was so god damn slow. I bet if I tried gaming on a CentryLink DSL connection today, I'd get disconnected all the time.

TL;DR I'd rather have a fast connection with a cap than a slow shitty connection with unlimited. Besides, with Comcast I can connect to my neighbor's Comcast owned modem/router combo via WIFI and use either my parent's or grandparent's login credentials and download games and updates that way. Comcast's Wifi Hotspots are slower than shit, so I have to leave it going overnight (especially for games like The MCC and Quantum Break!) and can end up taking several days to finish but it works for me right now. Unless my dumbass neighbor hasn't reset the modem lately, then I can't connect.

Fellow retail monkeys with access to ExpertZone, it seems they changed the reward this year. Instead of the usual Xbox Accreditation rewarding a year of free gold, we now have a Gaming Accreditation with 6 months free GamePass. Available to the first (oddly specific) 43,328 employment-verified ExpertZone members who complete the 6 related quizes.

https://expertzone.microsoft.com/Story/Promotion?token=VoBX3

There is no word if the free Gold reward will show back up, but it is usually up now so I think this took it's place. As a bonus, I still have access to this with my Toys R Us credentials, so if you're one of the select few on this site that accessed it from there, see if you're still verified.

I'm sure I can find more games I want to play on EA Access compared to Xbox Game Pass. Most of the games on Game Pass I either already played or would rather purchase outright.

Not sure if Game Pass would increase MCC's population either, but feel it should still release on PC eventually.

I'm sure it will increase the population by a decent amount. I don't think there are really any other big multiplayer FPS games on GamePass. The closest is Gears.

If a PC version happens, it won't be until they stop updating the Xbox version, and even then I'm still skeptical. As consumer friendly as MS is trying to be, I think the priority will be Halo Infinite since that is a new game. This fix is to try and earn back so goodwill that they burned hard 3 years ago by abandoning MCC in the abysmal state it was in.

The real hope MCC has is all the interest in legacy Halo on PC that stuff like El Dewrito, SPV3, and Installation 01 have drummed up in the past couple years. If Infinite is a return to the classics in gameplay like it is aesthetics, then that probably hurts MCC's chances.

Random question, but does anybody know of a site that tracks the history of sales in the Microsoft Store for Windows 10 games?  I tried entering some into Store Parser but it doesn't even look to be in that database at all.  Wondering if non-Xbox Play where titles ever go on sale and how often, if so.

Specifically, looking for Rise of Nations or Age of Empires.  Not sure either of those two have ever been on sale so might have to drop the $20 on them.

Anyone want to buy me this ~$10,000 custom made Shadow of the Tomb Raider Xbox One X?

Build a larger catalogue? EA Access has just over 60 titles while game pass boasts over 180 games, three times as much. MS already has their AAA newer games on the service, from Gears 4 to Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2(with Forza Horizon 4 right around the corner). Even their exclusives near launch are in the service, like Ryse and Dead Rising 3. What games specifically are you referring to?

Still waiting for Snake Pass to be added to game pass. Itching to play that one
I'd use an older controller when you play Snake Pass

Long time lurker(never lurked a code though), first time poster. Hoping a game that has NEVER gone on sale will be included in the sale tonight. Rebel Galaxy. Game has never gone on sale. Not sure why. I have bigger things to worry about like a hurricane hitting where I live in the next few days but would love to add Rebel Galaxy to the old back log before then.

I'm sure I can find more games I want to play on EA Access compared to Xbox Game Pass. Most of the games on Game Pass I either already played or would rather purchase outright.
Funny, I feel the complete opposite. EA Access seems like 50% sports games, which don't interest me but is certainly subjective. Game Pass has a lot of indie games that interest me but I would not usually pay money for. between that and all first party titles going to Game Pass now, the only advantage to me with EA access is that it is significantly cheaper.

Probably not a lot that care on here but the PUBG 1.0 patch with achievements and the new map supposed to hit when the sales do at 8pm EST. I'm sure it will be a total cluster but I'm excited. Should have a few achievements done that are going to pop retroactively but man 1000 kills is a lot of kills.

Rise of Nations has been $5 at least a couple times. I'm not sure about whether Age of Empires has ever gone on sale.

Not sure that PUBG has exactly "proved the haters wrong" since there are still a lot of problems with it. But at least it's playable now.

People are saying there's going to be a big backwards compatibility sale starting later today. "Up to 65% off."

Also some sort of Namco Bandai sale.

Oooohhhh, I hope that BC sale is right.

Has anyone here been playing Strange Brigade? I am thinking about getting it at full price because it looks so fun. I was just curious if anyone else picked it up recently and had some feedback on the game on XBox One.

Thanks :)
Do you think that the guy on the art for this looks like Chris Pine?
