Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I thought Star Wars looked pretty fun, though their comments on complex combat systems are hard to judge without actually playing it. I do think the comments on no Light or Dark Side stuff so it can be canon are a bit hollow since the pre-Disney era would just say one option or the other was canon. Still, from the ONE canon game story we've had from the current EA deal I guess it does fit with how Disney wants to handle it. I'm not upset or anything though, I just think that the real reason is Respawn want a solid Uncharted or God of War (or Titanfall 2) style experience with a totally linear story.

The Apex portion was great, I'll definitely be dipping back in when season 2 launches. All the changes and additions sound good, the new character looks interesting, and it's great that they both admit to their mistakes and are taking steps to correct them. Another (fairly mild) innovation over the competition is that the new Battle Pass challenges will be persistent, meaning we aren't forced to log in every day to be able to get the maximum challenges to do. I still don't know if only doing major updates once every three months is the best solution though. We'll have to see what the cadence of stuff like the current event and teased monster invasion event actually are.

There have been so many disappointments with Star Wars games this gen / in the last 10 years that a solid SP game with good production and gameplay is all I really want. The only thing I'm skeptical on is the protagonist, but everything else looks great.
I played a bit of Star Wars Battlefront with a friend. Didn't click with me. Played some of Star Wars Battlefront 2 (beta maybe or maybe free to play weekend not sure). Just wasn't my thing. A solid single player experience sounds pretty good to me too. I loved TF2 both the single player and the online. I think it was the last competitive online shoot I played for any length of time.

I Just want a Star Wars game that basically plays like Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. Just wreckless abandon force powers like Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars cartoon and knocking back 20-30 droids/Stormtroopers with a single force push before leaping up a 30 foot platform and repelling a bunch of blaster shots with a lightsaber.

Need some input on which game I should buy during this E3 Sale...got $20 in credit to spend, and am looking at a few completely different games types.

Borderlands Remastered...I have the 360 version, but have none of the dlc and never really played it much because I got it shortly before Borderlands 2 came out. Also have the Handsome Jack Collection and the Tales from the Borderlands game.

Kingdom Come Deliverance...Love Skyrim, been wanting a new game in that vein. Downside is it's based on real history, no magic or creatures. Also have seen that supposedly the Xbox version has a lot of issues.

Also possibly considering the base version of AC Odyssey (AC Origins doesn't really interest me, too much desert). I own all but two original AC games, yet have never really actually played any of them.

Another possibility is Just Cause 4, I own all the previous Xbox titles, and am not planning on renewing Gamepass after July, so I won't be able to play it once my pass expires.

Quick follow up on Star Was Fallen Order. Game Informer released their special cover story podcast about the game this afternoon. This is the same team that got to first actually play Spiderman last year. They are all saying it's on that level of game and is the game they are most looking forward to this year. Biggest takeaway that I didn't get at all from the EA show is the game isn't linear, it's actually way more a Metroidvania and supposedly a lot of inspiration was taken from Metroid Prime.

I think Game Pass Ultimate deal is back? If you missed it last time you might want to check.

Instructions from ERA:

1. Go into Microsoft Store on Xbox One (not sure for PC)

2. Search Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

3. Opt in, they will charge you $1 and will consolidate your remaining Game Pass and Live Gold months into the same # of months of Game Pass Ultimate. Up to 36 months. This is open to insiders and was also listed in the fine print of the sale starting today, so it may be open to the public. If not, join the Insiders program ASAP and do a few quick surveys to reach level 2, join the Xbox One Update beta program, and you should be able to test GP Ultimate. IIRC, when Ultimate officially launches, it will come with Game Pass PC.
Thanks for the tip, it seems non-english speaking countries can use the offer this time as well. I'm settled until the end of August 2021 with Ultimate now =D

Since you already have Borderland 2 I would probably skip Borderlands (or wait until cheaper). I love this series of games but I think BL2 is the best out of the 3 currently available Borderlands games. I would play that over the other 2 if you have no plans on playing all 3 (plus BL3) is out in a few months. I don't think the story is super important. Also this series is much better to play with a friend or 3.

I have AC Odyssey. Played a few hours got side tracked and haven't gone back. I think I am pretty burnt out on AC games. I skipped Origins as well.

JC3 was a blast when I played it recently on XBox One X. Was a stuttering mess IMO on PS4 around launch and got somewhat better supposedly with patches. I had it with PS+ on PS4 but paid a few bucks (like $10 I think) to get it on Xbox One X so I could play it.

I have game pass and haven't even had the desire to fire up JC4. I am pretty sure I installed it but that is about it so far. I wouldn't pay for this game. At least not more then say $10. It will be that cheap eventually. Just wait until you get a game pass offer for $1 a month or whatever. Play it then.

Games I'm looking forward to this year so far, E3 is still young, many more to be added I'm sure:

:switch: Super Mario Maker 2 - Jun 28th, 2019

:xb1: Borderlands 3 - Sep 15th, 2019

:xb1: Call of Duty Modern Warfare - Oct 25th, 2019

:xb1: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - Nov 15th, 2019

:switch: Pokemon Sword/Shield - Nov 15th, 2019

Amazon currently has Star Wars Jedi: Fallen order listed for $50.94, not sure why but if you want to pre-order at that price: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QQ8W3HG/?coliid=I2XVUUMPIHHC0A&colid=2R2UD7FT9GHIC&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1

So almost like a Star Wars/Dynasty Warriors hybrid, like Hyrule Warriors did? That....actually, that might not be half bad

Watching this official Smash tournament in the off chance a character announcements happens. The rule set they're using is terrible and most of the players aren't particularly well known for a "World Tournament".

Can't link due to mobile, but Lego Ninjago Movie game and Middle Earth: Shadow of War also seem to be daily deals, each 60% off. Both are 19.99. There is a link to Lego Ninjago on the storefront page of xbox.com, but the Shadow of War link also takes you to Lego Ninjago, so search that one if you're interested.

Edit: Shadow of War Definitive Edition is 29.99 with the E3 sale. Little silly to offer the vanilla version as a "daily deal"

War of Will - awp
Sir Winston - Biggquis

ALSO...if one of the following 5 horses win, I will do another $15 Xbox gift card giveaway using the 'Like' method commonly used where anybody can enter:

Everfast
Master Fencer
Tax
Spinoff
Joevia

Stay tuned! The race is around 6:45 EST. I hope y'all tune in!

Metagaming ftw
Sir Winston wins the Belmont Stakes! Biggquis is our CAG winner of the $15 Xbox Gift Card.

That's a wrap for the 2019 Triple Crown season. Glad we had different CAGs winning each race, including the double winners for the Kentucky Derby disqualification.

Couple of credit or code opportunities to keep an eye on that I haven't seen anyone mention yet:

  • If you played any online MK11 matches, Xbox is sending out codes for the first movie via Xbox message
  • On Roku, there's an ad for $5 FandangoNOW credit. I think it was an Amica-related ad
  • Vudu's sending out $3 credits via email

How long do you need to wait after you've signed up for Xbox Insider to get in on the Ultimate Game Pass program? I'm up to level two already... it didn't take long at all.

So almost like a Star Wars/Dynasty Warriors hybrid, like Hyrule Warriors did? That....actually, that might not be half bad
Star Wars // Dynasty Warriors and/or Marvel // Dynasty Warriors would be day-one purchases

And I'm frugal as fuck

I just really want a Star Wars game that can encapsulate what Dark Forces or Jedi Knight did. Or Knights of the Old Republic. I'm not asking for the moon, just the stars

has anyone played sniper ghost warrior 3? if so is it anything like sniper elite? and is it worth the $10??

It is horrible and not even close to the great Sniper Elite series. Made the mistake of buying it. Graphics are terrible with gameplay to match. Devs knew this. Thats why the season pass was included with every game purchase.

I don’t know how much we should look into this, but there’s apparently an easter egg for RGB (255, 36, 0), which is the colour “Scarlett” in promo pics Xbox sent out.

thanks for the info been watching videos game does look horrible guess ill save my money

i'm disappointed with these prices. lego ninjago was bundled with the lego movie game for a total of $12.50 during the new year's sale.

shadow of war standard edition hasn't been available as a standalone game since they came out with a definitive version...until now? and it's still $20?

In the unlikely event that anybody on here is an MK11 player and doesn't want the beautifully artistic dream that is the first Mortal Kombat movie, I will gladly relinquish that burden from you.

Sweet! Putting that towards World War Z :) Thanks!

Reminder for those interested in the press conferences tomorrow. These are the important shows for Sunday:

4:00 PM ET - Microsoft

8:30 PM ET - Bethesda

10:00 PM ET - Devolver Digital

There is a Mixpot of some sort for watching the Xbox conference live on Mixer. For the lurkers or newer Xbox owners that will see this, these usually give you at least one free game and some various DLCs during E3. In the past it was Rare Replay and The Outer Wilds. This can be claimed through the Xbox App on console, your PC broswer, or on mobile through the Android/Apple App or phone browser if you are stuck at work.

Devolver also has this suggestion to prepare for their show.

Kindly looking for some advice from someone that has played Life Is Strange: Before the Storm. Finally about to finish it up this evening via GamePass. Is it worth paying for the Deluxe Upgrade just to play the bonus episode especially since there are no achievements or anything? Note, I really enjoyed the first Life Is Strange and have mostly enjoyed this one if it makes a difference.

I liked it, it takes place at Chloe’s house I think right before Max moved away so they have one last adventure.

If you like there dynamic and want more back story this is it.

I'm not big on Devolvers show but I did just remember My Friend Pedro comes out this month. Unfortunately only on PC and Switch.

If you are into that world the bonus episode is very much worth it in my opinion. It bridges character events into the first game that is very emotional.

On the subject of the secret RGB code, Scarlett is the development codename for the next Xbox so sounds like we will get some sort of info.

If you enjoyed the first Life is Strange, the bonus episode is a must play.

It's worth it as a nice bow on Chloe and Max's journey and friendship.

I’m kinda sad I won’t be able to attend the Xbox and Bethesda briefing that I got tickets for and EA Play, and the other stuff they may have in the area. Something came up. But I’m glad I’ll be saving money since it’s like a 2 hour drive one way and since I was going to drive, I have to most likely pay for a couple of parking places which they increase because of E3. Plus the crazier LA traffic due to E3. Too bad the tickets aren’t transferable, I would’ve totally gave them away here.

With money saved, I actually ordered some shoes earlier and will definitely get a few things from this E3 Sale. And if they show a new console that’s coming out when it’s announced or later this year, I’ll probably cancel/return the shoes and put money on that. Lol. Can not wait to see what Xbox will show. My prediction of Sony and Nintendo showing up on stage still remains. We’ll see.

The only console that could have any chance of releasing this year is if Nintendo announces a revision of the Switch. You can't just shadowdrop a totally new console out of the blue, it's suicide as Sega learned with the Saturn. The closest you see now are special editions or variations like the Xbox One SAD.

The only way Nintendo has any presence at the Xbox show is if we're getting a rep in Smash that would still make more sense the other way around other than the spectacle of having someone like Sakurai on stage, since it would be for a Switch exclusive game. Maybe the person that's in charge of "Nindies" if Ori on Switch is happening.

I don't see Sony having any presence on a Microsoft stage for a long time, if ever. The PlayStation team was not aware of the possible streaming game partnership until it was announced, that deal was made above their heads. As is, there is nothing for them to come out an promote, the only real cooperation we've seen is Sony finally relenting and allowing a few third party companies to do cross-save or cross-play, with the only direct link to Microsoft being the PS4 Edition of Minecraft, which has NOT been upgraded to Bedrock Edition presumably because of the Xbox Live requirement and cross-play. If anyone was going to show up it'd probably be Shuhei Yoshida, who I believe confirmed that he was not attending E3 or even coming to the States currently.

You people and the feet talk...

I got around to a little Turok play this afternoon. I immediately remembered how queasy the game used to make me. Once I noticed you could turn off the leaning head bob from strafing my problems cleared up. I don't know who thought of that, but it is awful.

Gameplay is decent, for being a 20-something year old fps with a lot platforming. It would have been nice to see some improvements like switching ammo types rather than just having to use your beat stuff first.

If you have nostalgia for it, I would say it's worth it at the sale price. For newcomers, I dunno if it's worth all the jank even at like $5.

I wouldn't quite classify it as jank, just old design philosophies. Those Turok ports are pretty enhanced compared to a lot of similar releases. They add a TON of features you'd typically only see on PC release, while boasting major updates like the removal of persistent fog and a huge performance boost.

I still think Perfect Dark HD from the 360 is the gold standard of these retro FPS ports, but Turok ranks pretty high as far as conversions go.
