Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Yeah it was a pretty crazy offering on those Gold to GamePass Ultimate conversions, but I too am locked deep into 2022 so Xbox is easily going to be my first priority when it comes time to grab the new hardware. I mean Sony will probably stick Bloodborne 2 right in my face and i'll have to say nope. Can't get the Simpsons marathon in on the 7 day free trial? ;)
Same here it's even crazier if you already had years of XBL Gold stacked up from MS Rewards.

A lot of us are set until 2022.

https://twitter.com/Nibellion/status/1194211100042125317

The side-by-side just further shows how terrifying the original design was.
I Still feel only people going to see that movie will be families or people jerking off to Sonic...or families jerking off to Sonic is a possible thing as well I guess.

This is part of the reason why even though I got Fallout 76 for free at launch, I never jumped in (the other is because I naively believed they'd actually add enough SP to flesh out the game experience). I have major ADD + OCD for getting distracted by & feeling compelled to complete "all" side quests which can be frustrating as hell.

One of my primary things I predict will piss me off about this game if I try to get into it is apparently inventory slots are arbitrarily limited which seems to be purposeful to drive collector types (like me) towards the $99 annual membership fee. fuck that.

Is it AT ALL possible to simply fly through the main story of this game (without getting caught up too much in collecting/crafting trinkets & other bullshit & constantly being annoyed by limited inventory space)?
If you can get into the right mindset from the very beginning that you just want to finish the story and don't obsess over getting everything and top end gear it should be a decent ride.

It is probably possible to run through the main story without too much distraction. You just need to hide all the other side quests that you don't want to do. Otherwise all these quests appear on the side of the screen and are quite annoying. Keep them out of sight and out of mind. Several of the side quests directly tie to the main quest and there are only a few side quests that are very long or continue into another side quest. The most important (or least important if you can avoid hoarding) is the quest to get a backpack with increased carryweight and then additional quests to modify it to increase carry even more or make it armored, etc. These were overly annoying and I really wish I could have skipped them entirely.

The real problem comes in with the repeatable daily quests that you can do again after 20-24 hours pass. I would recommend doing each one once and then hiding them and never going back. At first I assumed they were normal side quests and didn't realize they keep coming back so you can't get them to leave you alone. Lol. Then there are also public events which pop a prompt up on screen to alert when they begin. These are just the same thing each time but useful to grind out more gear if you want to continue upgrading your legendary set. Both dailies and events are mostly just to pad the fact that the only endgame is grinding more loot.

The only problem with doing main quest only is that you may be a little underleveled for the endgame areas. The majority of the best perks don't unlock until you get close to the level 50 point where you have hit max special points. If you plan ahead you can skip quality of life perks and plan your build for combat only it should not be impossible to keep moving through the story.

I like to keep multiple weapon types just in case and multiple armor sets to switch it up and this is where the inventory limits hit you. I filled my stash space with crafting materials after about 20 hours of play, and if I didn't attach unnecessary value to digital junk you could just drop your excess materials and move on. Instead I keep everything and sell it through my vendors to other players or directly to the NPC robot vendors.

Unfortunately Fallout 4 had just finished training me to hoard every damn garbage resource just in case I need it to build some garbage in a settlement without hunting for it.

In 76 you don't need to build a ton of stuff. You can build a big permanent camp with resource generators and set up vending machines to be a trader and resident of the land. But you should skip this entirely and just be a traveling nomad who moves their camp to wherever they need it. Then you just need to figure out what you need to repair the weapons you use and supplies to make more ammo for it.

I still hope to finish up all the year one content and take a break before the hopefully large and content filled Wastelanders update and NPCs arrive. If you haven't gotten into it yet who knows if it is worth playing or if you should just wait until wastelanders drops and check if that is a better jumping in point. The normal main quest really doesn't take you to a ton of places on the map so it should be possible for them to add new content in those unexplored areas to expand the story without breaking the loneliness intended in the original story line.

If you have trouble keeping on focus just remind yourself that it is an always online game so there is literally no point in collecting and keeping every unique thing in the game since it will all be gone anyway when they quit supporting the servers. Good luck if you decide to jump in. If you get mad at me for talking you into it give me a shout and I can give you some extra gear to help you out if you get stuck.

Lost my weekly streak on the console app thanks to work travel. It feels kinda worth it when the bonuses get large, losing the streak really takes the fun out of it.

They stealth-launched 4k HDR on some of the most beloved films of all time? I don't use this phrase very often, but that is a baller move.
It would be awesome if they weren't the SEs. I'll stick with the Star Wars Despecialized Editions.

With the auto-renew one-month bonus on GPU, just got 7 months for $45 and am covered until October 2022. Pretty smart way to get folks locked into the Xbox ecosystem.

Also worth mentioning, they are apparently the 1997 editions being converted for the original trilogy, not the more recent Blu-Rays which had additional changes made / Lucas meddling. For now, I think the existing BR set is good enough for me unless I get a deal on a subscription, a Simpsons marathon sure would be nice.
I was under the impression that these were explicitly NOT the original 97 editions, but the Lucas-altered "enhanced" editions...

Side note, I feel this news DRAMATICALLY increases the odds of us getting a 4k box set of all the movies very soon.

Just saying the only reason we are here is for the possible deals. So let’s hope for some deals. Plus there’s always new releases that get new discounts
Wha-wha-what?! I thought everyone was here for feet pictures, fast food reviews, and funny stories about pets...

Is there a GPU deal going on I don't know about? I see the $1 to convert, but otherwise just looks like normal conversion rate.. What am I missing here? I'm covered, but I want to hook up some cousins for xmas. Best deal is still 3 years of gold, then convert right?

Old Sonic trailer: New Coke
Sonic redesign: return of Classic Coke

People have also been talking about getting 3 months of GPU turned into 6 months with auto-renew, but that sounds like fake news (unless someone steps forward with the facts).

Also, are we REALLY scared by Sonic Abomination?

Simpsons on Disney+ is stretched out widescreen. BOO! And I don't mean Boo-urns, I mean BOOOOOO!!!

Also seeing Avatar advertised on there is a reminder that, that's the second highest grossing movie of all time and legit I feel no one gives a shit about that franchise.
That's how they've always been since they started airing on FXX and FXNow.

They are apparently the 4K masters that Lucas was working on for the 3D conversions that ultimately never came out. Everyone is freaking out because the Han/Greedo scene has been changed yet again.

Don't forget that this should also be the first instance where we no longer have the Michael Jackson episode. I haven't checked to see yet, so if someone can confirm, that'd be excellent.

Can anyone name a single character or quote from this movie without googling it?

Holy crap I didn't know that was a thing, just watched that episode earlier in the year after buying a few seasons from Vudu. Gonna have to see if its still on there. Damn it, its not on there either!

Edit: Its still on Vudu but for some reason at thee bottom of the episode list for that season, it says sorry this episode is no longer available but will play when the watch button is pressed. Not sure if that will stay playable or not.

"Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed, and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar: an Airbender named Aang. And although his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But I believe Aang can save the world."

I still have seasons 1-9 on VHS. Everybody can come over for a marathon of those plus 2 VHS tapes full of uncut Beavis and Butthead episodes,

If you don't mind Turtle Beach, Newegg has the Stealth 700 wireless for $50. Pretty good deal for wireless, even used ones go for more than that on Ebay.

Really disappointed I missed this. For those who were curious on input, I have the Stealth 600 and they are fantastic. I would assume the 700 are just slightly better. For $50 the bar would be pretty low anyway. The Stealth series is completely wireless for Xbox and there is no dongle on the Xbox either.

"Uncut?" You mean like ones that still have the music videos? That was the biggest disappointment I had with buying the DVD collection many moons ago. I'd curse the copyright laws, but since I work in intellectual property, that'd be kinda hypocritical.

Do you also have a VCR? I would come over just to see someone who still owns a VCR.
Of course. I've still got a couple. I also still have a 13 inch tv with a built in VCR that I used to use in the bedroom. Hell, I still play old systems on a Commodore 64 monitor I've been using for years... probably 40 years now. Still works great.

Yea. In fact the earliest marathon still has Beavis yelling fire and trying to light a cigarette during some videos.

For all you talking about the editions of Star Wars on D+, apparently before Disney acquired SW Lucas made ANOTHER edit to A New Hope. The version on D+ has the FOURTH change to the infamously edited scene. https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/movies/2019/11/12/star-wars-disney-plus-changes-controversial-han-solo-greedo-scene/2576097001/
That is some major league BS. I think it’s a add e to say the Star Wars we grew up with is truly gone and never coming back.

Also, how can I get in on the Beavis and Butthead?

I wonder if Disney is looking at doing some kind of theatrical restoration at some point. They know the fanbase wants it, and the community proved it was possible with virtually no resources (compared to a big company like Disney) with the Despecialized Edition. Hell, a quick look to check that name shows a few people that worked on that project are officially in the movie industry doing 4k restorations now so they could even bring them on board.

It's hard to say, if it didn't seem like Disney was currently grasping for ideas, I'd say they'd probably wait until the 50th anniversary.

Yea I also still have a Laserdisc player since those versions of Star Wars are the best by far.
The Despecialized Editions are much nicer than LaserDisc, unless you are just talking about official product releases.

There's a lesser-known project called Star Wars Legacy which has never been released to the public (for legal reasons), but it's a complete 4K restoration of the original 1977 Star Wars made with like 5 film copies of the original that were scanned, overlayed, and error corrected by analyzing the differences between all of them. It's essentially a flawless version of the original Star Wars in 4K. We know that the creator has pitched it directly to the studio to try to make it an official release, but we don't know if anything will ever come of it.

Goddamn, we get it. You're rich.
