Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Edith Finch has some really cool stuff in it, but I found the story to be very unsatisfying at the end - it seems like you don’t learn anything and nothing gets resolved.
Edith Finch is a great example of incredible gameplay overcoming a very weak and borderline non-existent story. Seriously, that fish chopping level is one of the most mind blowing things I've ever played. I cannot recommend it enough.

SO I guess a new Darksiders games released on Stadia today. Mostly good impressions but a little buggy. Hopefully they iron them out for the consoles.

Guy does sound like a scammer.

I switched to the 5¢ option, but these glitches don't really matter when most of us are stacked so far out. I do want rentals still, I swear they were talked about before launch as a possibility.

You should be able to get around a 500gig SSD for around $50, it's worth the extra when big games are 100 gigs now.

Life is Strange 2 isn't as bad as people are making it out to be (I think it's good), but it suffers in comparison to the first game, which is one of my favorites.

I just finished replaying LIS1 since it's leaving Game Pass soon (discovered the game when it was a PS+ game).  I'm still blown away by how dense the game is.  So much incidental information and details that really flesh the world out and reward exploring.  I played with a good set of headphones this time and there's tons of little background conversations and other things to hear.  I love all the extra details in Max's journal and how it gets filled in based on your actions.

The final episode of LIS2 has some callbacks to the original game which were nice to see.

The overwhelming consensus of reviews are saying it is great not sure where you're getting that people think it's bad.

So, with this new 5 cents a day plan for Xbox Ultimate Game Pass ($18.25 a year), is it better to save up the 12,000 points for 1 month of Game Pass Ultimate, the 18,000 for three months of regular Game Pass, the 8,500 for a month of Gold, or the 1,600 for the $1.25 Microsoft gift card? Since at 5 cents a day, the longest month of Game Pass Ultimate would be $1.55 cents for 31 days, and $1.40 cents for February at 28 days ($1.45 cents at 29 days on leap year). Edit: I miscalculated.

Since at 5 cents a day, the longest month of Game Pass Ultimate would be 95 cents for 31 days, and 80 cents for February at 28 days (85 cents at 29 days on leap year).
It was my understanding there would be no math.

It just seems to me that the 1,600 points for an $1.25 gift card is now the best deal, since cashing in 17,600 points for 11 of them is $13.75. Which will buy you about 9 months of Game Pass Ultimate on this plan, and still be 400 points less than the three months of regular Game Pass.

Yeah I honestly don't know if you'll be able to fit RDR2 on that 128 gig model taking into account the actual usable size. It's been a minute since I looked at it's size but it was already close, that was the game I saw the most benefit from on my SSD.

Sounds like damage "control" on Control coming to GamePass, I'm sure a deal could have fell through at the last minute, but normally Phil isn't going to talk like that if it's not coming. My guess at the actual issue is some kind of timing factor with their contract with the Epic Game Store. They pretty publicly announced the details of that one where they got $10.5 million from Epic upfront to go against game sales. https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019/09/epic-seems-to-have-paid-10-5-million-for-controls-pc-exclusivity/

Kind of surprised so many people are that attached to Max. I thought she was really corny and annoying. I thought Chloe had way more depth and was a more interesting character overall. That said, I agree that the voice acting in BTS isn't great (it was made during the strike...but the bonus episode got the original voice actors back).

Anybody looking for a game in a similar vein (story-driven "walking simulator" with some interesting game mechanics) needs to check out What Remains of Edith Finch on Game Pass. That was one I kept passing on and waited for a lower sale price, but when it came to Game Pass, it was a treat to play. Really, really well done game.
Max had her faults but for sure, but the way her story was written so well involving so many characters was what separated her from Chloe. The time travel aspect wasn’t special except it gave such good back story and depth.

I’ve been wanting to play Edith Finch and Gone Home. I want to give Oxenfree another shot too.

After further research, the very best deal is the $5 Amazon gift card for 5,250 points, as to get to $5 in Bing points on a Microsoft gift card, you would have to cash in 6,400 points. And, you can use that Amazon gift card to buy a digital $5 Microsoft gift card from the Amazon store. Four Amazon gift cards($20) at 21,000 points would get you over a year(13 months and 4 days) of Xbox Ultimate Game Pass at the 5 cents a day plan ($18.25 for a year). Edit: Looks like the lowest digital Microsoft gift card is now $10 on Amazon. But, 10,500 points for $10 in Amazon gift cards is way better than 12,800 for $10 selecting the $1.25 Microsoft gift card option on the Bing points store.

The overwhelming consensus of reviews are saying it is great not sure where you're getting that people think it's bad.
Major gaming publications can't risk giving it a bad review or they'll get blacklisted. A lot of fans have been rather negative towards it, and how it's nowhere near the level of the first game.

Max and Chloe definitely had their flaws as characters, but I certainly didn't want to see either shoved into a wood chipper like I do the whiny, self centered, toxic, whiny, selfish, whiny, and brain dead "heroes" of LiS2. And I can't stress how hilariously bad the writing gets as the episodes drone on, Ep 4 should win whatever the video game equivalent of a Razzie is.

I know there is a discount for hitting Level 2 each month, which is a measly 2 days of clicking for 500 points, but $5 MS and Xbox gift cards for me are 4650 points not 6400.

Anyone know user ChrisAGarrett? He’s interested in my Fallen Order code in the Trade section, but he’s wanting me to send the code before payment. He has no posts and seems like a newer user.
I only send codes first if the buyer has 100+ trades and 100% positive feedback. If it was a $5 movie code, no big loss, but for a larger amount of money, nope.

Hit level 2 and the $25 cards are 23k points, which is a much better rate. 3k less than getting the same amount at the Amazon rate.

Oh cool, I didn't know that the different levels dropped the points cost. Is there a higher level than level 2 that drops them even more? And, does it only drop points on specific things, or everything? Because, if it's on Everything, then the Amazon gift cards would still end up being the best deal.

Currently for me an $100 Microsoft gift card would cost me 91,000 points, and the Amazon equivalent would be 14,000 more at 105,000 points. Making the Microsoft gift cards the best deal, if your Bing Rewards level is two. Just from the past four days of searching and quizzes and stuff, I am already up to almost 3,000 points. If I keep this pace, I could easily get the $100 gift card before my 6 months of Game Pass Ultimate for $1 has expired, and I will be paid up for over five years of Ultimate Game Pass afterwards at no cost to myself. Which sounds like a damn good deal to me. At 5 cents a day, $100 will buy you 5 years, 5 months, and 20 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

I can appreciate your calculations so far but I wouldn't count on the $0.05 being honored. Really, I'd only expect someone who's Ultimate is about to expire really soon to actually get in on this price, and probably only until it's fixed. Best case scenario I see for most of us is maybe getting a single day at the 5 cent price when the Ultimate runs out.

Even if it does somehow stick around I don't see why it'd even be worth it to not just load up whatever payment method you need as your account gets ready to switch to the auto-pay, it's a 90% discount on paying month to month. Just let the 35 cents a week come out of your payment method.

Only 2 levels. And the discounts are only on MS items.

Even if it's only 5 cents a day, and $1.55 a 31 day month. I would still prefer to get it for free using points, than I would having to pay real money. And, considering all the times that Xbox and PlayStation have been hacked in the past, I don't trust saving my actual card info to my consoles. I'd much rather pay in gift cards.

There are lot of posts here where people are doing math. What did I miss while I was at work?
Xbox Ultimate Game Pass has a new subscription where it's 5 cents a day. I am calculating what the best item is in the Bing points store to use to pay for the subscription.

Better off using that money for Scarlet. Xbox gift cards can be used to purchase hardware. If I can get enough free or discounted gift cards I might actually consider being an early adopter.

That's what 2020 is going to be for me, ha even though all my purchases were with MS Rewards credits and most had punch cards got hit with enough "now it's on Gamepass" games this year that I'm going to try to see how much I can scrape together if I need to get a Scarlett at launch. Cyberpunk could be the outlier I'll have to pick up but even then might be able to wait with this constantly growing backlog.

The hard part with that is that it means it would affect your game buying. Wait, I realized as I'm typing it that's not true and you can use a different payment method. But still it's hard to pay full sale price when you have discounted credit.

That 50,000 points one is probably if you buy a $1,000 Microsoft tablet that day. My guess is you’ll have to spend thousands of dollars to get these points back.
I was looking at this earlier and I can’t imagine how anyone can get all those rewards points without buying. I looked on some of the explanation faq and it said you don’t even need to use your Xbox to claim the daily stuff(which is nice since I might be out of town when this starts.) I’m skeptical that this will amount to anything considering how many points are up for grabs.

Any idea how to actually get the 6 months of Spotify Premium? Trying to sign up on a new account it still says "you are not eligible for this offer"

I had to create a new email. Apparently I had already used my Xbox email for a previous Spotify trial.

Off topic but where is a reputable place that sells authentic cologne for men? With xmas around the corner I'm looking to buy some for an older sibling and I don't trust Amazon or eBay since they are flooded with fakes.

Groupon or Macy’s. Macys is having 15% off now for their friends and family sale on fragrances.

Macy’s for sure, if you can pick the slow shipping option you can get $10 Macy cash on each order. I was able to get some gift sets on cyber Monday for $30 plus each order came with a free set plus $10 Macy’s cash back on each order...they honestly have better deals online than instore...shipping is just old fashion slow

Some weird glitch.

https://account.microsoft.com/services/xboxgamepassultimate/renew?fref=billing-switchplan

Turning on recurring billing for GamePass Ultimate and going to "Switch Plan" currently shows an option to re-new daily for an 89% discount totaling $0.05. This works out to $18.25 a year. I assume it will be fixed but I'm setting it up just in case. I'm set for about 15 months still anyways.
Well that was a no-brainer. Currently getting a ton of value out of GPU (unlike some other shitty sub. . .) I see you MS, and I like it.

Dang nice "Demon's Tilt" score Docsamson if that is yours. I'm really digging this one, not loving My Friend Pedro as much but the control scheme could grow on me. Another solid day for GamePass either way.

edit and "SniperMike"

Apex Legends just gave me 14 packs to open yesterday, apparently they changed the model so you can earn packs when you level up now.

Also on the Spotify promo if you use the same credit card as you did on a previous promo it will (or at least did in my case) block you. I opened a new accont for my wife and used a different credit card.

Don't forget the discount stores like Ross. Daily chance you can find something. Otherwise yeah go to a mall and they'll have plenty.

I still get a kick out of my dog being confused by overhead sound. The collider in Spider-Verse got him yesterday.
