Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Kinda weird, Monday, I sent the link to  my cousin to download Far Cry 2 said Page not found now. I found a new link but it said Offer not available in my region (also his).

Just downloaded far cry 2 and I still have my saves from 2011. Only made it 27% through the game, but I don't think I'll be finishing it. It's a decent game but lacks a lot of refinement. I recall playing a custom map on multiplayer, it was just a giant toilet. At the time I was surprised to see custom maps on a console game, I was less surprised that someone created a toilet for a map.

Highly YMMV but if you have a Chase card, check your Chase Offers in the Chase Pay app for the following deal:

Get 30% back at Staples or staples.com, max $19 cash back.

Add the offer to your account and buy xbox gift cards on staples.com with your eligible Chase card. For example, 1 $50 card + 1 $15 card should result in a $19 statement credit within 14 days.

I am surprised to see Dead Rising 3 is leaving GamePass. I would have thought a MS exclusive would stay forever. Now I have to finish the DLCs.

Picked up FC5 Gold. Going to have about two weeks between work contracts so I’ve been saving up. RDR2, FO76, BFV and add FC5 to the mix will be my conquest.

I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger on FC5 Gold. I know it's a ton of content for the money, but I hardly played 3 when it came out and I have 4 on PS4 that I've barely touched either. It sounds like it's just more of the same so I can't see being all that impressed if the others didn't hold my attention.

Of course as a CAG with a backlog in the hundreds, does anything hold my attention anymore? #caglife

If you aren't all that in to the Far Cry formula than maybe you should wait. It'll only get cheaper.

The base game is cheaper, and may be a better option then ($15 at GS right now on disc). The Gold edition does come with FC3 which is definitely a lot of content for cost, but the base game is fun while it lasts. I paid $42 thanks to an ebay deal on launch and enjoyed it enough to buy the season pass on sale.

Resist the FOMO. It will be on sale again probably another 5 times before you finish Far Cry 4. May also be on Gamepass or GWG, too.

I'm speaking to myself as much as i'm speaking to you.

Started playing We Happy Few and so far it actually seems better than I thought it would be. But the loading times are horrific even on the X.

So the fatal blows in MK11 are a step up from x-rays, if anything. I always laugh at the fact that the fighters just get up and continue fighting after having their skulls demolished, organs exploded, etc. Like *that* doesn't finish you, but this one last jab does, lol.

And did this guy just say "rich storytelling" is synonymous with the MK franchise?

Having said all that, I'll definitely get it once a complete edition with tasty price drop happens.

Thanks all for the feedback on FC5. I'm pretty sure my money would be better spent towards RE2. Speaking of which, I got to thinking about remaking classics from the ground up vs new IPs and annual/ongoing sequels.

As a developer, one would think bringing a beloved classic to the 4K era we live in now would be more assured to do well and sell a ton vs taking a risk on a new IP. However as a gamer, do we see that as lazy or would we want more classics truly built from the ground up to take advantage of modern hardware? Obviously we need new IPs so we don't get caught in an endless cycle of the same games from generation to generation, but you would think it wouldn't be too tasking to remake a game that they would already know inside and out.

I guess with the hype for RE2 and the ongoing anticipation of FFVII I'm surprised more games don't get this treatment.

What say ye?

It might be kind of stupid a lot of the time but I think MK does put in the most effort out of the fighting games to have lore and long running story-lines. I guess you could put Soul Calibur, and Blazblue in that category to a degree, but MK has been killing it in this aspect since MK9 at least, and everything since MK1 is more or less canon. Most of the other fighting games don't put much effort in to this or are just bad at it, even if the characters themselves are good, like most of Capcom's output or Tekken's often goofy nature.

NetherRealm in general seems to really care about this kind of thing, as shown with Injustice's story quality, and I think that helps MK stay the most successful fighter in terms of sales.

Here's the updated list for the 2019 Australian Open contest for a $10 Xbox Gift + 1 Month Game Pass

Joao Sousa - PatFortenbaugh
Alex Bolt - Gideon68
Pierre Hugues Herbert - Gurren Lagann
Alexei Popyrin - jimbo8574
Taylor Fritz - awp
Frances Tiafoe - Khalid
Billie Jean King - dennisb407
All these players moved past the 2nd round into the 3rd.  The next sets of matches will take place over the next couple days.  I'll post once the 3rd round is complete.

I think the storytelling in both Injustice games have been the best for fighting games. I think DC has been smart in also extending the story in comics.

With the MK11 reveal thing, now we know the real reason why Ronda Rousey was "suspended" from Raw last year  :whistle2:

And is it me, or does Skarlett looks a lot like Mira from Killer Instinct?

For what it's worth I thought the Far Cry 5 DLC was super disappointing for what should of been awesome on paper.

do u guys think far cry 5 gold edition is worth it if i already beat the main story and i beat far cry 3 BC version...? i mean id be buying it for the dlc's and the far cry 3 classic edition? is that worth it for $30?

Felt the same way on FC5, but after watching FC4 gold stay at over $20 FOREVER I gave in on this one quicker lol

Yeah, it's definitely been a strong suit for the series. Having an ongoing series that is canon really fleshed out the world if you read them, but aren't really necessary if you don't want to. I read everything out in the build up to IJ2 and there are a TON of references to those specific comics in that game. Other games would surely benefit from this format as well but Injustice is in a unique position since it is a relatively young series AND WB owns DC Comics. Mortal Kombat is doing comics as well but to fully grasp MK lore you have to catch up on a LOT of games, so many that even just using YouTube or a Wiki is still daunting.

The closest thing coming to mind is Udon's Street Fighter books that essentially retell the official story of the games while fleshing stuff out, but they aren't canon.

How can anybody expect to sell Xbox 360 games on the Xbox store, when they are still $99 (most likely $59 in US). Finished Singularity a couple of weeks ago and had a look on the store to see how much it would be digital and it is still full price. I thought it was a good game, only complaints were that you can't skip cut scenes and no subtitles. Was good that after getting one ending you could go back into it and it would load back just before the end so you can choose the other two endings.

Honestly, no. I liked the Vietnam DLC, the Mars DLC sucked. Haven't played the Zombies DLC since I was burned out by then. FC3 remaster (actually port of pc version) is still sitting in my backlog. I will play it in a year or 2 when I am craving more Far Cry gameplay at that point. I am playing the new Far Cry spinoff day 1 when it releases 2/15 (getting it for free with GCU/BBUY RC's).

That all said - if you really want to play FC3 remaster NOW then it is worth it (think of it as $15 for remaster and $15 for the FC5 DLC)

One more thing - if you haven't played Far Cry Primal yet that may be a better choice. I recently got 100% achievements on it and about 55 hours of play time. I was leery of it at first but I quickly fell in love with it.

Tried some of the new games added to Game Pass. Lego Movie the Videogame looks exactly like the 360 version(expected a slight bump in graphics). Still has the grainy videos throughout the game like other versions. But We Happy Few kept freezing up, even after re-installing just to make sure. Good thing I didn't buy it, because it still looks like most of the bugs from launch mentioned in reviews are still there.

Someone posted that 12 months Xbox live is 29,000. Is that a good deal or just standard?
I think that's the standard price for it.

So Life is Strange Season 2 has a 4GB update, I wonder if gamepass users are getting the next episode when it releases.

Yup, this is the consensus.

And as someone that bought the Far Cry 5 Gold Edition day one - and regretted it - this game is basically the reason to not trust companies on DLC, no matter their recent track records. Far Cry 5's DLC is essentially the opposite of Assassin's Creed Origins & Odyssey's offerings - which have been well-regarded (though recently controversial for narrative reasons, spoilers).

Now that my Summerset code works I've been playing. I forgot how pretty ESO can be, although some major stutters on occasion.
