Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Odyssey Gold and SC:Blacklist for me. I'll be trading in my vanilla copy of Odyssey to BB for $20. I got it for $25 during the holidays so not taking a huge hit. I'll also be able to get my last 10% RZ bonus before I lose it forever next week, which should bump it up to $22. I'm gonna miss my GCU...

Just recently upgraded to a 4K tv and an X, so the AC deals are tempting so I can be amazed at what the graphics are like, but at the same time I have so many games, Game Pass, PS4 open world games to play (one of which - Horizon - I’m borrowing from a friend and should return one of these days)... plus I’ve never actually completed an AC game, so at this point I’ll probably just wait the year or two before these entries go GwG ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Guess I will return my AC: Odyssey I just bought for $20 at GS and buy a $20 card to pick it up at $33 for Gold.

I got AC: Odyssey for $13, digitally, after using some gift cards I was given. I'm really tempted to pick up Gold edition. I'm afraid that the price won't come back down for a long long time, once the AC3 remake is released.

Somebody sell me on Watchdogs 2. I'm one of the weird ones that liked the first one a lot and didn't vibe too hard on the demo I played of 2. For $9 I'm willing to give it a shot but if someone can convince me it's great I'll splurge and get the gold edition.

It'll be buried in my backlog for a while, (Hell, I'm still on Unity) but I can't pass up that Odyssey Gold price. A couple of snow and low attendance days have pushed us back a week, but as soon as that last day with students gets here, I'm going to be spending some extra time on AC.

If I could get my projector to work with an HDMI cord, I'd take it the last day for teachers and play it in my room.

Ezio Collection for $10 also seems like a pretty great deal, although there is forum talk about bugs and achievements being glitched. Can anyone recommend the collection? Having all the DLC with upgraded ports is tempting.
Just for those out there with both an Xbox One X and a PS4 Pro: Assassin's Creed Syndicate and the Ezio Collection received Pro patches (1620p and 4k) on PS4 but never got X updates. Can't remember if Black Flag had a Pro update but it might have a higher resolution than the Xbox version.

Can't believe that Odyssey's Season Pass didn't get discounted. But it does look like the Gold Edition is as cheap as the SP was for PS4 last week. So like the rest of you, I'll be trading in my physical copy.

Remembered I got Odyssey free from Google for Project Stream. And I likely wouldn't play the remastered AC3 titles. So I'm gonna pass.

Just need to keep telling myself that ...

I’m debating too. Still a $7 discount vs the Season Pass price but really was hoping for $20. Wonder how long it will be before it hits that?

Two has allot more personality and I enjoyed it more than one. There's more variety in combat like using drones to drop bombs on people, remote control a car to crash into people or calling gang members on the phone to kill people in the way of your objective. Only problem is the game missions themselves like the first primarily consist of getting inside a building and hacking a computer. Even than I had fun doing them and if you're a fan of the first one I can recommend the DLC since it brings characters from that game in.

I really liked it. More than the first. But like most big games, I haven't finished it yet, cause I start up too many open world games at once....

I was also hoping for $20. It took Origin's SP about 9 months to drop to just 40% off, $24.

The biggest thing to me is that I'm playing this game now and may not even care 9 months from now, since my backlog is ever growing and new games keep releasing. I'm weighing the difference between $24 and $33, you know $9, and how much that $9 is actually worth to me. I feel like it may be a now or never kind of thing for me, but that could also just be the lure of the sale talking, haha.

It's the common conundrum of being a cheap ass gamer.

Just recently upgraded to a 4K tv and an X, so the AC deals are tempting so I can be amazed at what the graphics are like, but at the same time I have so many games, Game Pass, PS4 open world games to play (one of which - Horizon - I’m borrowing from a friend and should return one of these days)... plus I’ve never actually completed an AC game, so at this point I’ll probably just wait the year or two before these entries go GwG ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
since you have gamepass, play Gears of War 4. I still think it it one of the most impressive One X games. Plus the atmos sound with headset. amazing.

edit: pick increased resolution mode

I'm torn on the gold ACO digital deal.  I'm mad at myself since I purchased ACO during Black Friday.  I love the AC series.  I've played and completed every one of them with the exception of the handheld games.  If I had waited, I certainly would have jumped on this deal.  But Smash and Red Dead have kept me busy (going to delve into ACO once I'm done with RDR2).  My reluctance to trade in my physical copy is that while getting remasters of ACIII and Liberation HD would be nice, I completed both on the 360.  And with my current backlog, I have no idea if I would ever revisit them.  Plus, I'm not sure if I would play the ACO DLC.  AC DLC tends to be very hit and miss.  I'm not a completionist for most titles these days and I'm okay with watching let's plays on youtube for the extras if I don't have the time to complete the extras.  But if you haven't played ACIII or Liberation HD, that's a no brainer deal.  ACIII is underatted (especially if you dig Rogue) and Liberation HD has it's own charm despite obviously being a game meant as a handheld title.  Congrats to those who waited on ACO for this deal since it's a great value overall.

Somebody sell me on Watchdogs 2. I'm one of the weird ones that liked the first one a lot and didn't vibe too hard on the demo I played of 2. For $9 I'm willing to give it a shot but if someone can convince me it's great I'll splurge and get the gold edition.
IMO the storyline is much better in the first title. But the gameplay is greatly improved in the sequel. It's worth a playthrough and I would really like to see a third title in the series. I'm just not a huge fan of the cast of characters in the sequel, but it's a really fun game.

Wow glad they match the PSN price for Ezio collection. In for that, AC:Odyssey (will trade in my physical copy), and Watch Dogs 2.

Ezio Collection for $10 also seems like a pretty great deal, although there is forum talk about bugs and achievements being glitched. Can anyone recommend the collection? Having all the DLC with upgraded ports is tempting.
I have not run into any bugged achievements or bad bugs but having all the DLC is the biggest selling point. Really, they aren’t that remastered imo. They did a much better job with Rogue and (seemingly) ACIII. For $10 though, if you can overlook the ugly, it’s worth it.

What is the quality of the Ezio Collection DLC? I've tried to look online to see what specifically the DLC is, but all I can tell is two short movies and an undetermined amount of single-player only missions.

That’s basically it. There is no MP in the “remaster” so it is just single player missions. How much they are worth it depends on how much you like the series. If you have played the games before without the DLC and are happy, then you probably don’t have to worry about it. If you are an AC nut like I am and want to be able to play everything there is then it is worth jumping in. They are basically a few extra memory sequences in the different games.

The movies are also cool and bookend the story of Ezio. However, you should be able to find them on YouTube as well.

All in all, if you missed some of the DLC and want to get the “full” experience, then $10 is well worth it, especially if you like earning 3000 achievement points with no MP requirement. However, if you are a casual fan that played the base games years ago and are happy, then playing the old ones on BC (if you still have them) should scratch the nostalgia itch.

Anyone sell me on far cry 5 season pass? I've got anthem currently in progress and some others ready to go in the backlog. Does it goes on sale often enough to wait 2-3 months?

I have all the AC games, except for Origins, Odyssey and the III remaster. I have only finished the 1st one and Altair's Chronicles, and started II. I can wait out for the next killer sale on Odyssey.

That's actually pretty awesome to "hear". I think there has been like a total of 6 games that have supported Atmos. I know this isn't the same thing as native, but better than nothing.
To me it’s impressive that MS keeps adding new features like this. Not like something a lot of people are even thinking about wanting. But I love little things like this.

Ubisoft Season Passes rarely go on sale-- the complete/ultimate/gold editions do much more often. Honestly, I didn't think the FC5 Season Pass was that great, but I think it may be a fair value at $18, especially if you're interested in the Far Cry 3 remaster. The DLCs are almost entirely unconnected from the storyline, though there are a few cameos. None of the 3 DLCs are a must-play, but their variety of play styles and themes freshens things up a bit. Each DLC will take 3-6 hours if you go for the achievements. Each DLC unlocks multiplayer skins and single player weapons.

The Vietnam War one is stealth-focused and is an open world which funnels you to the final mission. Eventually you earn the ability to play more Rambo-esque with lots of firepower. It is a small open world with a few enemy camps to clear out before a big final mission. After a couple replays, the novelty runs out.

The Mars one is supposed to be the funny one with a sci-fi arsenal. This one is another small open world with a fetch quest you can complete in any order by clearing out camps, but the enemies are boring because they're mostly bugs. The weapons you unlock from this for single player make the Infamous difficulty a cake walk. The new traversal methods (double jump/dash/glide) are fun, but this one was the least interesting because the world is a bland desert and I thought the story was unfunny and lame.

The Zombie one has a handful of levels that try to pay tribute to other zombie games and movies (left 4 dead, dead island, etc.). Each level is a mostly linear corridor shooter against hordes of zombies and plays like a less chaotic/simplified version of Left 4 Dead. I had the most fun with this one as the levels were diverse, and replaying in co-op to get a Gold rating on each level was a blast.

If they ended Halo that would have been the end of Xbox IMO.
I think it's just badly worried. It sounds more like they considered being done with the Master Chief. I would have been fine with that, but 343 hasn't had a particularly good track record with the characters they've created. I think the one real success is Lasky, and maybe the Didact but they just flushed him away.

For those with Ea Access I just downloaded the trial of Anthem and got 6,000 reward points.
Worked for me, Thanks!!

I was considering purchasing Watchdogs 2 Gold but happened to find a very cheap Gold Edition code that I figured I'd take a chance on and it ended up redeeming for the full game with all the gold content. I'm strongly considering Assassin's Creed Origins Gold, I have a physical copy of Odyssey with an unredeemed Season Pass but I may just try to sell that off and go all digital with the sale. I'm also thinking about picking up Rogue and the Ezio Trilogy, these are some great prices. If The Division 2 wasn't coming out so soon I'd probably consider the gold edition of The Division as well, I've never played the DLC but enjoyed what I played of the original game.

I'll have to listen to the whole podcast while I'm doing something boring at work tomorrow. Halo is one of my favorite franchises so I'll probably find the interview interesting.

Origins season pass 25.99 and no sale on Odyssey SP. Ugh. I already have both digital otherwise I'd jump on the Gold editions.

Nice. I was really close to getting an Atmos setup sitting my sound quandary, the sloped ceiling in the living room is the making thing that stopped me.
Thinking of the upward firing Atmos speakers? I have a pair; I'm sure it's not as good as in-ceiling, downward-firing, but it still creates what I call a sound bubble, ha ha, when cranked to a good volume. I occasionally catch isolated sounds coming from the ceiling too.

Ditto, I have sloped ceilings and upward firing and the sound definitely improved after installing them.
