Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

So what are folks thoughts on ACO: Ultimate vs ACO: Gold? Is the deluxe edition content worth an extra $6 between these editions?

Some insight into how MS might try to bring Gamepass onto the PC and maybe wherever else it lands up. Makes a lot of sense since they announced in November that GamePass would be coming to PC. I wondered if it would be a total different library of games and yet even another subscription to sign up for or something more like this where there is just one unified GamePass library.

Man I thought the $60 ultimate was a decent deal for AC Odyssey... crap! Oh well.

It's always going to frustrate me that I get punished for preordering games... almost ALL these games they offer the rewards for I buy a month in advance for the digital bonuses and stuff.

Considering AC Rogue Remastered and Ezio Collection. Pretty decent prices there.

Was hoping for more of a discount on Darksiders 3... i'll buy it when it's cheap.

haha, same here. Grabbed it at the beginning of the month. Oh well, game is great so it's not a huge bummer.

Debating Ezio collection as well.

And I keep waiting for Rare Replay to go on sale but it doesn't seem like it ever goes on sale. Last time it was on sale I was out of the country and that was two years ago. Booourns.

Anyone have suggestions where I can pick up a 1 month EA subscription for $1-$2? Wanna get in on that Anthem punchcard via the Rewards app(and to also try out Anthem & some of the games EA has in the vault). Much appreciated, thanks!!

Some really interesting indies for a few dollars each I need to check out in this sale. Ones I've never heard of. Off to check the MS store descriptions!

Happy Birthday AWP. 48 myself, pretty much limited to after hours playing with a family and then too tired to play anything in depth. Although, boy is nine now and has refreshed my gaming habit. So I don’t see the backlog as a waste now. Before he found interest, I was kinda feeling like a hoarder.
I hear you. Happy belated AWP. I'm turning 48 next month and though I love gaming, I don't have much time for it anymore - but my son is 13 and loves gaming. In fact I'm getting a PS4 and PSVR for my birthday which I'm sure my son will play more than me, and that's fine.

Sorry if reposted, but didn't see it. $15.99. After seeing this game sell so many PS1s and help Sony establish dominance, it's pretty crazy to see it coming to Xbox at all.

You won't find it for that cheap. CDkeys had it for that low until the Battlefield V punch card hit, and then they sold a whole bunch and increased the price.

I just paid the full $4.99 through Xbox Marketplace because I had expiring Bing credit anyway, so this was a good way to roll them over. I'm not even going to play any of the games, so you're still coming out ahead if there are some titles you want to check out for free.

Unlike other games, I've only bought FF7 2-3 times. I originally got the PC version because I only had an N64 back then. It ran like shit on my Packard Bell (remember them??) and the FMV when they escape from the frozen crater on disc 2 constantly crashed the game. I had to go into the files and replace the FMV with a dummy file to play through quickly to allow it to continue.

Bought the PS1 version on PSN. At some point, owned the original PS1 discs, pretty sure I sold them years ago once digital became such a viable option.

And yes. For less than $20, I too will buy this, may even pre-load.

Thats no surprise, and I think that AC Odyssey Gold and Ultimate will get delisted too once AC3 Remaster is out of the door. The value is too good.
I wish you hadn't said that. I'm now regretting not buying FC5 gold last month and you're making it tougher not to pick up AC Odyssey.

I mean what's another 100 hours or so added to the backlog.

Bought the PS1 version on PSN. At some point, owned the original PS1 discs, pretty sure I sold them years ago once digital became such a viable option.

And yes. For less than $20, I too will buy this, may even pre-load.
Ohhhh FF7, how do I own thee, let me count the ways. PS1 (black label), PC (physical), PC (digital pre-Steam release, then again on Steam because I couldn't find the product key for the first digital), PSN (PSP/3/V), PSN (PS4).... Holy crap I've bought this game 6 times. Each time was $15 or less, though, so it's ok... right? I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM YOU HAVE A PROBLEM.

....it's not even my favorite FF game, though it is my most purchased.

Just got this email from ms buy digital Spider-Man into the spider verse ($20) get two weeks of game pass.

Decided to pick up Far Cry 5. It sure is purdy.

And speaking of FF7 (and 9), the act of making the 3d models super-high res makes them clash horribly with the low-res prerendered backgrounds.

If anyone redeemed that Golden Globes promo code on FandangoNow back in December, you can get it for $10 there for 4K.

6 x $15 is about $90. Could be worse.

It's worse when you realize how easily mods online have inserted the superior battle sprites into the walk-about graphics and made them look really nice. There's no reason S-E couldn't do this and make it optional, they have the fucking source code:

I'd love to see something like that available officially, similar to swapping between the original and HD graphics in Halo 1 and 2 on he MCC.

This will be my fourth time. Once on PC then a PS1 disc and PS4 digital. But with X as my main go to now, I just gotta have it on there too.

I’m just going to say it... I’ve never beaten Final Fantasy VII. I haven’t even made it anywhere near finishing the first disc. And now you people are making me want to buy it. Thanks for that lol

FFVII will be my third time I purchase it, previous two PS1 and PS4. I put in over 300 hrs into that game and it will mock me on my Xbox since I will never have that kind of time to game ever again.

Only bought FFVII once on PS1. But it was my first 100+ hour game. I still remember grinding so much before I tried entering the point of no return.

I’m actually a bit worried that playing it again would ruin my memories.

I don't keep up with rewards but I was already planning on paying for a month of EA to check out Anthem. I did that and downloaded it so now what? Was I supposed to activate something first bacause my points haven't changed. It shouldn't be this difficult...

Sorry if reposted, but didn't see it. $15.99. After seeing this game sell so many PS1s and help Sony establish dominance, it's pretty crazy to see it coming to Xbox at all.
100MB is the file size. This sucker was on 3 discs 22 years ago and all I can think of is how it was too big to fit on an n64 cartridge lol

Hydrophobia is a decent playthrough but it just kind of abruptly ends with a story that will never be finished.

Marathon is confusing as hell compared to Doom or Duke Nukem. It is also Marathon 2, with 1 and 3 never released on consoles. All three games are available for free on PC and Mac through the link below, Bungie put the source code out a while back and actually promoted these a long time ago. I've always wanted to play through these as the story is supposed to be good (in the many terminals), so maybe I'll try one more time.

I wonder if the Activision deal was somehow holding back this BC until now.

I played it again a couple years ago. I really enjoyed it as a teenager, but I could relate much more with it as an adult. I don't want to say much and fuel any sort of expectations, but I think you'll get more out of it now than you did before.

Square Enix is supposedly working on FF VII Remake for PS4, but it was announced years ago and we don't even have any release time frame yet, so who knows.

That's just the pre-load placeholder. Crackdown 3 did the same thing.

Expect it to be multi-platform, since they development cost is so high, but it may be a timed exclusive ala Nier Automata. It sure looks pretty, though.

That's just the standard pre-order file size. It is 4.26 gigs on PS4. On PS1 it was about 1.3 gigs total. Nintendo 64's biggest cartridge was only 64 MB.

Though Angel Studios managed to port Resident Evil 2, shrinking it from about 730 MB down to 64. I don't think even they could have done double the info, and Capcom close to launch realized RE2 could have been on 1 disc.

Yeah, fanboys were freaking out over it being exclusive because it was announced at Sony's conference, but Square-Enix has never confirmed or even implied exclusivity. I think the name is too big for them to want to do exclusivity at this point. Nier was not nierly as popular at the time and that's why it was exclusive for a while, I wouldn't be surprised if the next game isn't exclusive, especially if it was a direct sequel featuring 2B again, though knowing Yoko Taro that is unlikely.

Mainline FF games have been multiplatform on launch since XIII. XIV is the exception because console crossplay wasn't an option when it launched.

We can expect most or all of the marketing to be for Sony, but with even the older remastered games getting ported, they aren't going to spend years in HD development and then limit their audience, especially when porting to such similar architecture.

My only concern really is it'll pull a FFXV and not come out until well into the next console generation.

I remember buying FFVII used *cringe* and disc 2 had to be buffed out already. This was maybe 7-12 months after release? Insanity. However I had the thin as my hair now strategy guide, a notebook and a hella patient wife to help me for the 100 and some hours I put into it. I was tracking the damn chocobos, the materia, trying to beat Ultima bosses (and failing) but I finally beat 85% of it. Damn do I want to go down there again?

On that side note, just bought a new X1X, came with a Games Pass TRIAL instead of a regular month. Instead of watching the lurkers go nuts in the free threads, would rather somebody here get it if they want it cuz most of y'all crazy old like me! First to the pm finish gets it!
Now watch nobody wants it 🤣

Does anyone have the point values for the earn 15 more achievements and the bonus points for completing all 21 on the punchcard? I'm going to submit a ticket but need to know how many points I'm entitled to.

You needed to activate the punch card first before downloading it. You may be able to go back and activate it, but I'm not sure. Someone else may know if that's possible or not.

It's a total of 600 points. It's not tracking for me either along with a couple other punch cards. Glad to know it's not just me.

Yeah same thing here with the first two checked. Sometimes it says how much for each punch so I wonder if it's an all or nothing for this one?
Nah I'm positive I got something for each, I'm pretty vigilant about knowing my point total each day and remember seeing it rise when those ticked.

I bought FF7 20+ times if you count when I bought over 20 copies of the black black label from Kmart on clearance and flipped them for 100+ each
I miss the old times

I've wondered over the years whether FF7 could fit on an N64 cart, if cost wasn't a factor. A cartridge big enough to hold the entire game is possible, probably even back in the day. Just keep throwing more / larger chips in there, would probably need to change the form factor, but doable. But could the N64 access everything or would there be address space issues?
