Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.

Question: thinking about picking up a month of EA Access just to try Anthem. Worth it? Or should I stick this unopened copy of Fallout 76 in my Xbox instead?
I heard both games are so bad you will literally become impotent and lose all your friends just by installing them.

I Only know of 4chan, but even than I know if it begins with a number and ends in chan it's highly suspect. And the guy didn't look through that site to see if anything was amiss prior to this? So many questions.
They knew exactly what they were getting into, but are playing dumb in the hopes that people forget about it quickly.

I just got a month of EA Access & got credit towards the Anthem 6k punchcard through Microsoft Rewards. Not even a minute later, my SO texted me saying she's leaving. Even the three year old sent me a video cursing me for using Bing searches. I'm just waiting for the dog to slap me in the face when I get home now

The dog probably crapped in your shoes. I have to close myself in the bathroom while I do my Microsoft rewards stuff each day because my cat lunges at my eyes if I do them where she can get to me.

Considering the week I've already had and that I just flipped my twice broken ankle, eff it. BRING IT WORLD, I'M GOING SACK DEEP INTO ANTHEM! Hell, even if I get the punchcards, with the hot deals it's worth it. Who needs a functional body\lufe when I have points?!

I’m sorry about your pain. No... not your ankle, I mean having to play Anthem. Thoughts and prayers

8chan is much worse than 4chan. It split off a long time ago and has a somewhat different format where people can make their own boards to discuss anything. It shouldn't be much worse in theory but the lack of moderation meant really bad stuff could find a home there from time to time, though I think 7chan was overall worse in that regard. The other big strike is when GamerGate blew up, got all the shitheads harassing people, and was subsequently booted from 4chan they moved to 8chan where they've lived ever since.

I used to browse 4chan's video game board /v/ a lot more, once the politics /pol/ board came into existence it slowly poisoned much of the site. At this point only smaller boards like /toy/ and retro games focused /vr/ are really worth checking out. It was bad in the past and you had to tune out the offensive shit the edgelords would say, but I still think there is some merit to being able to discuss topic anonymously. It prevents the circlejerk that Reddit tends to promote with it's upvote system, or the cliques you see form in forums like ResetEra or even here on CAG.

That said, hosting an official AMA on one of these sites is the stupidest things I've ever seen a PR person do. I imagine the guy probably just wasn't familiar with 4chan since THQ Nordic is based in Europe, but even two minutes of looking at any board should have been enough of a red flag to not do it. Especially once it started and he was getting slurs and hentai questions within the first few posts.

Anthony Jeselnik is that you?

All jokes aside, or not, my week started on nuclear stupid so why not kill the week with a possible destroyed ankle and Anthem torture? I mean I still do have FO76 winking at me.

Their replies show that they knew exactly what they were getting into. Also, you're absolutely terrible at your PR job if you can't figure out that your host is synonymous with child pornography and white supremacy after a 1 minute Google search.

Out of curiosity, has free or discounted DLC ever shot back to full price when the game it's for went up on GwG? Apparently that free Metal Gear DLC was like $7 when it came out. It would be interesting to see it go back to $7.

I don't think it happens often. Hydrophobia actually qualifies for this though. It was permanently dropped to $2 I think and is back up to $9 now. Possibly to raise the "$_ worth of games in March" claim.

Didn't even realize there was a 7chan...

I'm glad to be out and out of the loop.

There are dozens of chan sites. Most of them are not bad. They're all just using the same basic format of Japan's site 2ch, that the 4chan founder borrowed himself when he created it in response to Something Awful's paid access to their forums. The base idea of the site is fine, to allow more honest discussion of content through the anonymous posts, it's just that anything can also be done with the format.

This month is not horrible but OG Xbox games don't really blow up my skirt much. I have the Metal Gear game on disk so I don't mind getting the digital version now. How is that Adventure Time Game?

So I have Ace Combat 7 physical and accidentally clicked on the icon on my X1X without the disc in and... it launched.

Does this mean that possibly when I redeemed the preorder bonuses that maybe it gave me the full version?

Edit: the game still shows to “buy” on the store. Have they changed it so it only checks for the disc every so often instead of every time?

The best thing about OG Xbox games being part of GWG is that I'm not going to own it already.

Unfortunately, I already have MGR.  Note to self: don't buy good games.

One of my friends just said the same thing in our party chat. He was playing Overwatch with us the other night, but when he was done he popped his disc out and it was Kingdom Hearts. Wonder what’s going on.

The head of PR agreed to it when Mark (Hi, Mark) said he'd keep the nasty stuff at bay, which should tip off any competent PR person to rethink what they're doing and he knew exactly what he was in for while doing it anyway. Any normal company would get rid of such a person, but two people on the executive board approved the plan, which is even worse. Then the CEO tries to act like it was a minor infraction so that they could sweep it all under the rug once the fervor dies down. Plus, they left the Tweet with a link to 8chan up for nearly a full day. The bad decision to do the AMA is just Step 1 of a 10 Step Program for how to do PR wrong every step of the way and somehow it never gets better when there are no adults in the room. The only victims are the developers that have to be furious that their publisher has done the opposite of their job of bringing good press for the games they're working hard to make.

Anyone have any thoughts about Watchdogs 2? I was disappointed with the first but this looks better. Is it worth it to get the gold edition or is standard good enough?

I played (I think) all of the easy tracks in Trials Rising last night. Had fun and look forward to the harder levels even though I know I'm not very good at them. The precision jumping bunny hopping short ramp platforming sections on hard and extreme levels I never get the hang of. I know it's also a game I'll never get all the achievements in. I think only 2 or 3 of them were unlocked by over 10% of players when I played last night.

Tried a few other games and none worked so evidently not a system wide change or issue. But played something else, went back to AC7 and it still works without a disc.

I think it's random glitches with the UI that's affecting the license check system. I went to delete Sky Force Anniversary about a month after it was removed from gamepass and inadvertently discovered it was still working. It continued to load for 2 or 3 days after that before finally failing the license check.

Speaking of GWG, I finally fired up QUBE 2. It's great. 2/3 of the way through, it's a tad on the easy side, but it's still a lot of fun. The original may be better by a small margin, and both games are on a short list of titles which come close to living up to Portal.

Any reports on if the XB1 version of Final Fantasy 7 has the same music bugs as the PS4 version? (Wrong music playing during various scenes, including one of the biggest moments in the game).
Wait, I played through Final Fantasy 7 on PS4 and didn't notice any glitches. I thought the sound issues were on the Playstation Classic....?

Also, it doesn't release on Xbox One until March 26th so may be awhile till it's tested

I did not enjoy the first Watchdogs but I found the 2nd one to be a lot better. I only played through the standard edition so I'm not sure if the DLC is worth it.

I'm the same. I didn't like the first WD game, but really liked the second. I also got the season pass and loved it. What play style did you go with? I went gun free. The game gives you so many different hacker tools that guns feel unnecessary, especially considering the narrative.

It's funny, I don't usually buy season passes, but Ubi's SP's tend to grab my attention.

Ubisoft usually does a better job with dlc than other companies. I’ve played a bit of the trial and I like the setting and it seems like a fun open world. The Gold edition is only $11 more than the standard. Do you think the dlc story wise is worth it?

I think I’m just going to pay the $33 for AC Odyssey Gold even though I have the vanilla digitally. I have a feeling we won’t see the SP go on sale until well after the release of AC III. And with the remaster alone going for $40, it’s still worth it.

I wish the ac oydessy gold game logo actually was the gold edition logo, same for a few other games I got.

But crackdown 3 is a pretty fun game, been playing the past few days.

Same here. I managed to get $20 xbox credit for $5, so that really helps soften the blow. But, now I'm debating on just getting something else entirely with the money.

I agree. Ubi does DLC in a way that I don't really find that offensive. You're getting extra content and they aren't stopping you from getting in game collectibles.

I dug the DLC for WD2. The T-Bone missions and No Compromise were a lot of fun. I can't remember Human Conditions at the moment. It's been a couple years since I played it. If you can get your hands on the Zodiac missions, that would be awesome.

I just really got into the game. That doesn't always happen and may not happen for you, but I found myself thinking about playing it when I was doing work, and losing sleep because I didn't want to stop. The game has its negatives, but they're easy to move past. Also, people complained about the main characters being too hipster, but they manage to balance between serious and humorous.

How the hell did you do that?!?
Had a $5 credit for Bestbuy and used it to get a $10 Xbox GC. Then got EA Access, downloaded the Anthem trail, got 6000 rewards points, used that with 2000 points I already had, and got a $10 gift card. Then cancelled EA Access.
