Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

So this was really easy to get through this month. I already did it all. Although the complete all quests one is the only one that hasn't unlocked. Anyone know if that's supposed to unlock once this is all over? Or is it just the only delayed one?
Finished this earlier tonight too and it didn't unlock, but looks like after midnight central it now has.

Does EA Access lose games like Game Pass does? Or do they stay forever? Keep seeing cheap EA games I'm interested in, but I think I'll eventually have a year (or more) of EA Access, so buying them would be dumb if I'll always have access to them that way.

Will the story be completely jacked if I skip to Odyssey or Origins?
After 3 the modern day story gets less and less relevant and I can't really remember any of it until origins. The modern day stuff in origins and odyssey is connected but I don't know how much as I only put a few hours into odyssey when it first came out. The olde tyme storyline in 3, 4, unity and rogue are connected but not significantly enough where you'd be lost skipping around those.

So, you'd be fine skipping to the newer ones.

I’m not aware of any games that have ever left EA Access. It’s one thing I like about it is that the Vault just grows. Never lose anything. Great value for $30 (or less) a year.

Trying to figure out if I should go for AC Odyssey. I stalled halfway through AC3 because I just got bored as fuck. I still have AC4, Syndicate, and Rogue in the backlog. I've loved all the AC games and their dlc up until 3, but I'm still so far behind. Also considering Origins. Will the story be completely jacked if I skip to Odyssey or Origins?
I'm in the exact same boat, except I've played Unity. I can't answer your question about the story, but I'm also tempted with the Odyssey $20 price, even if I have four AC games in my backlog already.

They might not be totally perfect since their fighting games aren't in the best state, but I've got to say overall I'm loving modern Capcom. One of the things included in the deluxe edition is the option to swap to development cutscenes, the live action stuff they seem to basically use as storyboards.

As far as I know, Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is the only game to leave Access. It was also delisted at the same time, so I assume it was licensing issues. Looking at release dates of other licensed sports titles on Access, it came out a month or so before all the other sports titles, so perhaps EA didn’t get the license terms squared away properly like Madden/FIFA/NHL/NBA 15.

Interesting. I still have it downloaded from Access. May have to try it tomorrow to see if it still works. It might and just was removed from being able to download it since it was delisted.

Edit: also still listed on the EA Access website. Could be that you just can’t get it on XBL if you didn’t already have it.

Yeah obviously Kratos wouldn't be in the 360 version, but with Freddy it's just one of those interesting things that seems to hang up the huge library of 360 stuff were not going to get with licensing rights. Again it's just a DLC character but might take more work than it's worth.
What's so difficult about this? Freddy Kruger belongs to New Line Cinema, a division of Warner Media. Warner Games belongs to the same company. Any licensing would be internal and shouldn't be hard to smooth out.

Appreciate the responses. I'll assume Rory Mcllroy PGA Tour is the exception, and refrain from buying any cheap EA games from now on. I'm looking at you Battlefront II!

The main stories (Read: In the Animus) of AC3, Liberation, ACIV (and its DLC, Freedom Cry), Rogue, Unity, and (to a VERY minor extent) Syndicate all connect in one manner or another. However, the present/future storyline has basically been reset in Origins since...

Juno, the First Civilization psycho that tricked Desmond into freeing her and releasing her into the Internet, was given a body and then promptly killed all off screen in a comic book.

With Origins, the only thing you really need to know is that there are two secret factions, the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templar Order, that have been warring with one another for centuries/millennia for the control/freedom of mankind. Much of what was missed in previous games/books/comics/movies can be gleaned from the main present character's laptop in Odyssey and Origins. This character, Layla Hassan, starts her own present/future storyline that will (allegedly) conclude in the next game, which is slated to be the end of what is called the "Ancient Trilogy."

TL;DR: You should have no problem jumping straight into Origins and Odyssey and you can always get information that you missed if you know where to look.

Oh yeah, totally forgot about AC Unity. Damn, that's a lot of AC. I guess I'll get both the newest games and not worry about the old stuff I may never get to anyway. Thanks!

Nevermind. Prices changed already. I guess my indecision saved me some money. Yay?

I’m not aware of any games that have ever left EA Access. It’s one thing I like about it is that the Vault just grows. Never lose anything. Great value for $30 (or less) a year.
yup they say when the program started once a game is in the Vault it’s there forever. I’m sure they could change it but so far it seems like they have stayed with it.

What's so difficult about this? Freddy Kruger belongs to New Line Cinema, a division of Warner Media. Warner Games belongs to the same company. Any licensing would be internal and shouldn't be hard to smooth out.
Oh it shouldn't be difficult at all, but is it ever?

My Gold is expiring on the 14th, so does that mean it expires midnight March 13th or does it last on the 14th and expires at the end of the day?

Anyone have thoughts on Armello? I've been interested in it for ages. The base game is $5.99, but the deluxe package with all DLC is $19.99, I believe.

I've got the disc version still factory sealed that I bought at Target on clearance for $5.98 back in January. Obviously, I haven't tried it yet, but Rivals is a pretty fun game (I own it on PS3 and PS4 already). The game that's just called Need for Speed apparently requires the user to be online to enjoy it which is stupid.

But what kills me with EA is that they refuse to discount the DLC on games like Mass Effect: Andromeda and Need for Speed: Payback in a logical fashion. It's less for me to rebuy both games that I already own with the DLC than it is for me to just buy the DLC separately. Insane!
I agree. I have been waiting for a decent sale on the Andromeda Deluxe Upgrade for sometime now.

I have the base game on the PS4 and just bought the Deluxe package on Monday on the Switch via the MXN eshop for $11.

It is an interesting Board game/Rpg/Strategy game. There are quests, missions and a story line. Each time it plays out on a refreshed board. I never got the chance to try online MP but, again, I liked it so much I opted for a portable version.

Thanks for the feedback! So it's still pretty fun as a single player experience then?

Rory got delisted when the golf club got the PGA license. Had I known it would be gone forever I would have bought it during their dirt cheap sales.

AC3 was a low point of the series. 4 was great. Odyssey and Origins changed the play style pretty drastically. I love them, sone folks prefer the older style.

This sounds like it could really be up my alley. Just to clarify, when you say there's a "story line", you're saying that there's some type of campaign that lasts a while vs just playing a new game every time, right?

Yeah there is a plot. But its not like there was different maps etc. Things just unfold and get revealed as you play. I’d say it takes that idea of just playing a new game from scratch and adds story to it and opens up new information to keep it interesting

These Game Pass/Rewards quests have been so dumb so far. The one for earning achievements last month conveniently excluded Crackdown 3 achievements, so it doesn't really accept achievements from everything on the service. The one for racing game achievements were all specific ones I had already gotten, so I was disqualified from that. There's basically no point to playing games on it unless they're Xbox 360 games or there's a quest for it, because you're screwed if you play things that are just added.

It seems that the new quests avoid the issues the last few months have had by just having you earn any achievement in the specific games. I hope that's the norm instead of what they've been doing before this.

Yeah this month seem to be a lot more forgiving without having any specific achievements to get.

Just need them to have the system update as I didn’t get my Thomas was Alone ones to register last month.

Sorry. Didn't know this thread wasn't for complaining about random things. Won't do it again.
Take a joke, Frisky. This wasn't directed at you, though it's clearly a response to you, but it's more a commentary on the regularity this sort of thing comes up around here. I don't think it was meant to shut you down from participating or voicing concerns.

Now, somebody quote this please because I know I've been blocked by him. Thanks.

My Thomas was Alone didn’t register either while the other one I did popped fine.
