Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.

I've got three accounts, but they're also all real accounts. Me, wife, and dad. Also don't transfer points, though. Never had issues.

I agree, there must be something missing from his story. You are absolutely allowed to transfer 5000 points a month, in fact Microsoft even encourages it. That in and of itself is not a violation of TOS.
Are you using a VPN? Using a bot? Redeeming Xbox Live Gold codes on your alt accounts and applying them to your main?
Is it 5000 you can transfer from one account to another or 5000 total you can have transfered? Because if its total than that may be it. I know ive gone over 5000 points if I combine the accounts.

And I dont use a vpn or bot.

is Ash Vs Evil Dead any good?
My wife likes it but I didn't get into it. Figured for a few bucks I would grab it but it she has to watch them on my XBox One X it isn't worth it. Too complex and I rather her not watch 45 hours (or whatever it is) of streaming video on my Xbox.

I personally can't be bother with this shit with all the crazy restrictions and siloed shit

I made a Div2 clan so anyone on that wants in search for it under CheapAGamer. Wouldn't let me use ass, sadface. The tag is [CAG]. I'm logging off for the night and won't be back to check for requests until mid dayish PST tomorrow. Shoot me a PM here if for some reason I haven't added any requests by evening PT tomorrow. There is an achievement for joining a clan and I think there are some XP benefits as well as the group completes things as well.
I may or may not have had the wrong setting on the clan but it should be fixed now. if it still isn't searchable/able to request an invite, I'll fix when I get back in a few hours.

Google officially trying to get into the gaming industry with a streaming box. If anyone could make that work, it'd be the owners of Youtube / experts in streaming media with endless cash to burn. Interesting timing with MS saying they want XBL to be multi-platform and for Game Pass to work on Android, a Google product. That could be a pretty significant team-up.

Can clans be set to Open so anyone can join without an invite? Kind of like the CAG club in Forza Horizon 4? Anyone can just join that one without an invite.

They can but with the limit at 50, I figured open might not be the best but that is a good point. I'll set it to open when I get back on later this afternoon.

That's one of the more interesting things, I don't even think there is a box or dongle for play on a tv, sounds like they built the screen casting into the controller.

As stated earlier, for $2 you can add all three seasons to Vudu

Another thing to think about though is that MS Azure servers for project X cloud are in competition with Google's cloud services. So have to see how that all shakes out. MS just put a game, or at least is in the process of putting one on Steam so anything can happen.

I was listening while working, but I think they said Chromecast will work as a streaming device.

The Stadia controller connects to WiFi so it connected directly to Google, which should remove the additional latency that'd be created between the controller and the streaming device.

it wouldnt be too hard to tell actual used accounts and a couple multi accounts purely for benefits

I completely run my nephew's and gift myself points and games without an issue as well as use it to keep his own live subscription going

I even log off and on my bing on my phone for both accounts for those search points

my guess is only the people making it obvious and doing it 4ish+ times are the ones who would have the problems

Pretty much this, I think they also said the Chromecast Hd was needed for Tv play but then whats the point of having an Android based tv?

Its interesting but how much

It can't be a coincidence, though, that the controller Google is making will have the exact same button layout as Xbox controllers. Stadia will need content for people to care, and Game Pass sure would be a lot of content ready to go and being maintained by someone else.

And you're right, there's no console, it's a service you can access through any PC, and use existing controllers with. If you have a Stadia account, you can stream a game directly from the web and use keyboard/mouse or an Xbox One controller, for example. The official controller connects directly over wifi w/ their servers and takes the place of a PC, though, if you want to stream onto a TV.

If they can pull it off, it'll be something. Probably a low risk for them since they already stream 4k content on Youtube and will have minimal cost for distribution/manufacturing.

While the ABXY button layout is the same, the thumb stick layout is the same as the layout found on PS controllers, of which I am not a fan. Maybe they'll offer other ergonomic configurations.

More like 15 hrs. It's a half hour show times 30 episodes. ;)

That Google showing was a lot of ideas with nothing concrete. The development side stuff is interesting but only exclusives are likely to make much use of the really high end GPU things they were talking about. It really needs to be tried on your own set up to get a real impression of it, but if there is the lag that was still present on the beta test a few months back is still present I'm hard out, aside from the possibility of a really good exclusive. Really it felt a lot like the Xbox One announcement, a bunch of features that sound fine in theory but are aimed primarily at the insular campus mindset of the creators more than the average user.

Apex thoughts. The new season does seem pretty grindy. 29500 XP to get to tier 2, presumably higher each level. You can get what is basically 25,000 bonus double XP per character per week, but I think you'd either have to play a lot or place pretty high consistently to take full advantage of this. The rewards themselves are about as bad as it looked yesterday. One thing that is kind of a fuck you is the Apex Coin rewards at the low level are only 50, with the harder to reach tiers being 100.

A quick look makes this seem like a pretty high level per tier compared to the base levels. I'm not sure is this is accurate.

Octane seems fun, but his basic ability is pretty risky. Damage yourself to get a huge speed boost. He passively heals when not being damaged or boosting but it's very slow.

Personally, I'm not interested at Stadia at all and I don't think it will find much of a hold. In the US, not even considering anywhere else, too many people do not have the Internet connection to handle something like Stadia. Living in a rural area myself, the best I can get is 25MBPS DSL with 1.8 MBPS up. And those are my maximums on good days where the Internet doesn't drop. There is no way I'm playing a 4K game at 60 FPS on that kind of connection and there are a lot of people that have to settle for that kind of connection. Add to the fact that you have to be constantly online to ever play any game ever... I just don't see it. Not yet anyway.

I have no doubts that something like Stadia is the future of gaming. I just don't think the future is here yet. Not until companies are willing to improve Internet connections for more of the country. Oh... And let's not even talk about people that have data caps.

Your points about online infrastructure and data caps are very true, but we also know nothing of the pricing, devs on board ... there are a ton of unknowns here.

I wonder if it transfers via Movies Anywhere/Vudu/Etc. Any movie I buy on my XB1 becomes available on all of my other devices through the account linking, but I've never checked with TV shows. Unfortunately, the shows I "purchased" via MS aren't on the other platforms and wouldn't transfer, so I can't check until I get home.

I do have Ash vs Evil Dead on digital, I just didn't get it through MS. Best Buy had a box set on sale with a Bruce Campbell bobblehead, and I'm a fanboy sooo...

One last thing on the Google stuff. The controller works off of wi-fi? Absolutely terrible idea. Digital Foundry says this is because Chromecast doesn't have Bluetooth I guess. Definitely would be using a real controller.

They do have a video up though. They're saying the latency is about on par with Xbox One X played locally, but the visual quality is slightly lower. If this is accurate to real life it might be worth trying, though any hiccups or lag spikes again ruin the experience.

Rumor is PS4 may finally get EA Access based on someone finding references hidden in the EA website source code. Of course, it’ll be missing half the Vault titles that are there from BC.

That would be an interesting reversal since I believe Sony's reasoning was that EA Access didn't add "good value" for PS4 users.

It doesn't work for TV shows. Which I am glad I found out before buying them.

Question 4 in the FAQ below.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/moviesanywhere

I haven't watched any episodes of the show yet, but from what I've seen of the movies I think I would enjoy it.

"Give me some sugar baby."
I might watch it if my wife really wanted me to. But if she decided to watch it on her own (which isn't likely if it is only viewable on my XBox) I would be fine with that.

Turns out we have Starz now (recently switch cable providers) and she has access to season 2. Maybe after she watches that I will worry about Season 3.

An acquaintance of mine who has/had a small Spanish youtube channel once made a video defending Sony's decision to not allow EA Access on PS4 (he basically summarized to "Sony, good. EA/Microsoft, bad"). I wonder what he would say if those reports turn out to be accurate.

I think Stadia (and also xCloud) will be great for PC gaming on a non-gaming PCs, especially for people who cannot spend more than $1,000 on a computer.  For CAGs who already own consoles and gaming PCs, not so much.  Being a Google fanboy I can't wait to try it out though.  I was indeed impressed by Assassin's Creed Odyssey tryout.  I played it on a Surface without a discrete graphics card, and it looked better than Playstation Now I thought.  I used same Fios network for both Google stream and Playstation Now.

Sony “good”? I don’t understand any reason why EA Access would be considered a bad thing.

But the value proposition is certainly less for PS4. There’s a ton of BC games in the Vault like the Dragon Age, Mass Effect and Dead Space series, Skate, SSX, Mirror’s Edge, arcade games that were on 360, etc.

Now that I think about it, Access would be pretty gimped if it goes to PS4. I think it would be less than half the games available on Xbox. Maybe it’ll be cheaper.

How big was the update? Hopefully it auto updates while I'm at work but sometimes my xbox forgets to.

Someone on reddit did some math to determine the value of rewards in coins and it is a good value for what you get, just doesn't mean it's worth it.

With the XP to hit tier two at almost 30k xp I'm curious to see what it is at higher tiers if it does increase. Doesn't the level xp max out under 20k xp? Having it be such a grind for a reward like a tracker to unlock is not very fulfilling.

Agreed to every word of yours. If the rumor and screenshot are true, I can totally see Sony and EA charging the same price for gimped PS4 library though. They are Sony and EA after all...

Hypothetically they might provide access to EA games in PS Now as streaming (which is less than ideal but better than nothing), but, again, they are Sony and EA after all......

Apparently all the info from the Master Chief Collection AMA:

  • Mix and Match Armor, linked to new progression system, no MTX (Reach seems to be the only one that supports mix match armor right now)
  • Uncapped FPS for each game is the plan
  • Game release date is dependent on how well the flights go
  • No 24/7 custom dedicated servers for the custom browser, this is an area of discussion though!
  • No Mod support at launch, working with the modding community, i01 team and the ED team to explore "official" modding options
  • Anti-cheat is a big focus for launch
  • Until all games are out it will be a buy one by one situation (no season pass model either)
  • Will support Windows 7 and 10, Windows 8 support is being looked at (Wonder if this means it can run on Photon?)
  • No ETA on the first flight, currently building the first audience for the flight and dev team is working on the UI/controls
  • Forge and Theater will NOT be out at launch, are both getting extra work for PC (should be around Halo 3/H4 release / potential rework of Forge?)
  • ODST Firefight is still being evaluated
  • More anti-cheat news will be talked about later
  • FoV and FPS limits will be a title by title basis
  • MCC progression will carry over from console version, no 360 progress will
  • MCC saves will NOT carry over between console and PC
  • Achievements, Forged Maps, Game Variants and stats will be sync’d
  • 343 is currently testing 144hz+ frame rates, ordered 240hz monitor to test with.
  • Wants to support a wide variety of hardware, spec details coming soon. Min specs to be determined via flighting
  • Steam/WinStore users can play together
  • Xbox crossplay is top of mind and actively being investigated right now
  • They are looking at what can be supported in regards to splitscreen/local co-op for PC users
  • They are looking into getting mix and match armor sets in for Halo 3
  • No info on pricing yet, focus is on getting the flight out as soon as possible
  • Centered Crosshairs are being investigated
  • They will talk about how terminal videos will work later
  • Still exploring options regarding play anywhere and letting Xbox owners who have a copy also enjoy it on PC
  • Aspect ratios that are supported are 21:9, 16:9, 16:10, 3:2 and 4:3
  • Reach will use the same dedicated servers for Match Making as the rest of MCC
  • No current plans to bring Halo 5 over
  • They want to get this package out to PC gamers asap but only once it's ready
  • No info on playlist, will be looking at community feedback on settings for things like bloom and Armor Lock (Vanilla, TU, CEA)
  • Halo Custom Edition Content is on their list and is being actively explored (they had map importing working to some extent last year)
  • They want to get this right so they don't upset consumers

5.something gigs. I saw that battle pass breakdown but it really leaves out the subjective value any person would really see in the items. If you don't like the few patterns they use then pretty much all the weapon skins don't add value since they're all part of a set. It does have merit but if you wouldn't have actively bought the items if they were in the store I think the 5200 or whatever value he calculated doesn't feel nearly as high.

I'm sure people will figure out the XP breakdown before too long. I'm just at work so I only was able to mess around for about 30 minutes.

Sony's initial argument of "lack of value" being the reason it wasn't on the platform always felt off to me. Yeah the library was trash for a while after launch but really that's a choice for the consumer. I'd guess they just wanted a higher cut than EA was willing to pay.

Woah, I grazed past this in that summary.

We are working closely with the members of the modding community (including some friends on the ElDewrito team) to explore our options for "official" mod support, but we won't have this at launch. Our #1 priority for launch is ensuring we get each of these core games "right" for PC and security/anti-cheat is a big focus. As we've stated, this entire offering will grow and evolve over time.

This is the heavily modded Halo 3 PC made from the Russian Halo Online leak. Last I knew they hit them with a cease and desist a couple of times. Pretty big turn around there. I'm not sure what the feedback would be. As far as I've seen most of the mods were cosmetic, adding different armor or HUDs. I don't see a mention of the Installation 01 team also mentioned in the summary, but that at least had permission.

Sony was obviously trying not to let anyone come in and undercut PS Plus. In theory I agree with them. It's bad for consumers to have a bunch of fractioned services with a lot of market confusion. Better to have a few services that people understand. Of course, Sony wants to control it all. The reality is that consumers have more choice with more services, so i'm not really against it. Microsoft has done ok with it so far, but if Xbox has GWG, Gamepass, EA Play and then adds a few more services like an Ubisoft service or a Take-Two service, people would start getting very confused. That's one thing Sony wanted to avoid.

In some ways I hate having fractionalized Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Sling, etc., etc., but it's still better than my old cable company and the one option I used to have.

On Apex I can get about 1 level every 2 hours figuring about 5,000xp per 20 min game, so 100 levels would take me about 200 hours.....

Unless higher tiers don't increase I don't see myself hitting rank 100. I've put in 45 hours and I'm not level 50 yet with it taking 18k to level up. Even if it goes until season 2 in June I don't know if I'll put in 100+ hours in 3 months.
