Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Sony was obviously trying not to let anyone come in and undercut PS Plus. In theory I agree with them. It's bad for consumers to have a bunch of fractioned services with a lot of market confusion. Better to have a few services that people understand. Of course, Sony wants to control it all. The reality is that consumers have more choice with more services, so i'm not really against it. Microsoft has done ok with it so far, but if Xbox has GWG, Gamepass, EA Play and then adds a few more services like an Ubisoft service or a Take-Two service, people would start getting very confused. That's one thing Sony wanted to avoid.

In some ways I hate having fractionalized Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Sling, etc., etc., but it's still better than my old cable company and the one option I used to have.
More PSNow than plus

comments from 2014 about EA Access on PS4

On Apex I can get about 1 level every 2 hours figuring about 5,000xp per 20 min game, so 100 levels would take me about 200 hours.....
Unless higher tiers don't increase I don't see myself hitting rank 100. I've put in 45 hours and I'm not level 50 yet with it taking 18k to level up. Even if it goes until season 2 in June I don't know if I'll put in 100+ hours in 3 months.
Fortnite always says 75 to 100 hours of game time. I don't see an estimate anywhere for Apex. I'm don't know how much the character bonuses and XP boosters in the pass will effectively speed up average XP gain, that's probably the biggest factor.

With or without game pass, I’m still enjoying playing Apex and glad to see the new Character. I don’t know how much I personally care about the battle pass but I kind of want to toss the Devs some money because it’s an enjoyable game.

Been playing the Apex battle pass a little bit.  You get bonus battle pass experience for using different legends (I think you can get a 25k bonus per legend per week).  You also get +500 for first kill per legend per day.  Being encouraged to use different legends is preferable to wacky challenges for me.

Won my first match using Octane (had a crazy Lifeline on our team).  He's pretty fun.

Also, they added an Apex Legends Microsoft rewards quest for getting an achievement AND buying coins.  One month too late - I can't complete it since I've already got all the achievements.

You've been able to stream games on Youtube for like a year or two, it's just that no one cares about it, especially since they tend to have more dumb rules than Twitch. The only big names I've seen really using Youtube Live or whatever it's called are people that already have a massive following on Youtube that don't want to try and build it up on Twitch, Oxhorn is coming to mind here.

Most of those sale features they presented are things I think virtually no one other than maybe content creators care about. If someone is savvy enough to be watching someone live stream a game, it is extremely likely they would be able to figure out how to purchase said game within about 30 seconds. It felt pretty tone-deaf of Google to try and pretend like Twitch isn't the market leader by a large margin in this specific field as well. At least Microsoft usually still acknowledges Twitch even while focusing on Mixer

At least I can add that you can also get the Saw 8 movie collection, X-men trilogy, Black Sails Complete Series, and a couple other movie bundles for $2 each. You know, if you have the upc from the original blu ray (and totally not from a upc website)...

Here is where we share all the VUDU info: https://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/362030-new-vudu-disc-to-digital-phone-app-just-scan-barcode-but/page-6

Or here is the a list that is updated regularly for what movies and tv shows are added to VUDU's disc to digital. For example, The Hobbit trilogy was added yesterday: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IgK7tIEKngP59PUOs_lsF4P1hbSRIG71tgxncpu1Mws/edit#gid=402351217

So how's everyone doing on Link Frog on TA? :)

I love stuff like this that makes you dive into the back catalog for some esoteric achievement.

To the people who do Gamepass quests: Is it normal that Quest Master stlll doesnt unlock even though i've finished all the quests a few days ago?

I can't seem to find info about it.

Alright, just put in about 2.5 more hours on Apex.

  • At least the first three tiers are 29,500 XP. This is more than double the 18,000 for a normal level once they plateau.
  • In about 3 hours total play time I earned about 17,000 out of 25,000 bonus XP from Wraith. You can get this XP every week on each character.
  • By my rough estimate I'd wager that means about 2 tiers per every 4 hours of game time, which would equate to about 200 hours of play to hit 100, if you switch off your characters as they hit the bonus cap.
  • There are XP boosts you get every so often that increase your XP by a small percentage that slowly increases up to about a 60% boost, and there is a squad bonus like Fortnite if playing with friends that own the BP. This should cut down the 200 hour estimate, but it's hard to accurately say how much without actual number crunching.
  • On Reddit I'm seeing people estimate the normal 18,000 levels takes about 100 hours, but the lower levels actually take much less XP to get through so it would be a bit higher if they were all equal.
So, 3 months for 200ish hours of game time to get through the PB and earn your Apex Coins back. This is about double Fortnite and I think closer to the grinds for Blackout or PUBG.

Also, thanks to their recent lootbox ban, it seems players in Belgium get much more useful crafting materials instead of lootboxes from the battle pass.

Question. Is anyone like me who buys the same game both on PlayStation and Xbox? Example Assassin’s Creed: Origins was the most recent. Now I am thinking of getting Destiny 2.
Yes, but for me it is graphics and performance related, I want the best console version of the game I can get. Once I won an Xbox One X from Taco Bell, I was inspired to upgrade to a 4k TCL 6 Series so 4k and HDR support are game changing for me. I moved almost all the multi-system games over to Xbox expecting them to play better there. Luckily I had most the PS4 games in physical form so I could just trade them for the Xbox version, but there were a handful of digital games I repurchased. This has slowly paid off with many games getting X patches.

But silly me, not every game is better on the X, now there are a few games I may move back to PS4 because they are unlikely to get Xbox One X patches and we are stuck with less graphical enhancements and resolutions as low as 900p in some cases. Metal Gear Solid V and Call of Duty III were easy to move back since they were free with PS+, just need to buy Zombie Chronicles for COD again. I already had kept Little Nightmares, Watch Dogs, and South Park on the PS4 Pro. I just moved Assassin's Creed Ezio and Assassin's Creed Syndicate back. I may move Batman Return to Arkham and Batman Arkham Knight back and I will probably buy Metro Redux on the PS4 instead of the Xbox

Did a lot of the same after picking up a X1X also. I used to have half of the AC games on PS4, and 1-2 on Xbox... now I have the full collection on Xbox and only a few I had digitally for PS4 still. The black friday sales this year (and afterwards) gave me a great opportunity to trade in the PS4 copy and buy the Digital Xbox copy on many games. Some even traded in for more than i'd pay for the replacement Digital version.

(We won't talk about Diablo 3... I own it on PC/Xbox/PS4/Switch. Or Bastion...)

Ohhh that looks a lot more promising than I would of given Konami credit for.... dammit all though with the "announcement coming soon" titles in the Castlevania collection. I've been debating on that bare bones thing for the PS4 with Bloodlines for $9.99 during this sale.

edit: I mean Rondo, but I'll take Bloodlines also

Glad it's finally announced. Probably only in on Castlevania myself. The fact that the seemingly obvious SotN is missing is a bit worrying, I could see Konami being insane and leaving it off due to the PS4 release. I don't really care since it's already BC, but it would be pretty dumb to leave it off. Maybe they'll just keep Rondo exclusive.

Honestly I hope it's a "fuck you early adopters" situation like Capcom releasing Ultra Street Fighter II then the Anniversary collection afterwards due to it's success, and they just include both those games.

If they're in I'm not sure what the last two slots would be. Everything announced in these three collections is stuff that is very easy to emulate like Mega Man Legacy Collection, so that makes me think some GBA games are remaining. None of the 3D games are all that well liked and DS games would take a lot more work to make playable unless they do something like picture in picture, though I guess that might work since I think they were mostly just maps on one screen. At least Order of Ecclesia was like that.

I loved Lament of Innocence on the PS2, and Lords of Shadow on the 360 is a good God of War clone like Dante's Inferno. The 3D N64 ones were rough.

So that third dark zone side mission is level 23, dont pull a me and run across the map for no reason unless you can actually start it lol

Another streaming service? Great.  Unless Google and Microsoft can strong arm ISP's to drop their bullshit data caps, their services will never work. I'm only a two gamer household, but I shudder to think what you fools with your children have to deal with bandwidth wise. That's my biggest reason against having monsters of my own. My bandwidth!

Who knows what resource they'll pull to fill those last spots. Perhaps some of the DS trilogy will make an appearance. Personally, I'm hoping to see the ridiculous Wii fighter rise again.

Even if the xp boosts knock 50 hours off your 200 hour estimate, I'm going to pass on the battle pass. I think my most played game of the year last year, overwatch, I put like 180 hours into spread out between all the events. Maybe this type of model, putting 400+ hours into a single game over the course of a year, isn't for me. Too many games to work on in the backlog to put those hours into one game.

I have only played two round but I am enjoying octane and like his backstory/reference.

Also, just a heads up, 29,500 is less than double 18,000. Still think it's too high though.

Is there anyway to buy $5 worth of coins? I won a starter pack and I got 600 coins but I don’t wanna spend $10 to get the pass

Closest you can do is getting a month of EA Access if you haven't since Apex release. They give you 1000 coins and a Flatline skin.

Yeah, brain kind of fried. Still a big jump. I don't mind if it's a realistic amount of time or if there was good stuff in the first half of tiers. The way I've played games for a while now is usually at least an hour or two a day on a multiplayer game. Lately mixed between Fortnite, Apex, and fighting games, before that was Destiny, and it really started with years of Halo/Gears. But, there are only so many ongoing games a person can really keep up with so I don't really want to settle for aspects that are not doing it for me.

I hope that Castlevania Collection has hidden games or at least adds Castlevania Legends in a collection. That game isn't held in high regard but it's rare and expensive and I wanna play it at least once.

I think I've only played Castlevania games on NES, so more for the current gen is welcome. BTW thanks for the code, it will be a welcome distraction when I'm sick of the Destiny 2 grind. :)

Octane is fun to play, the health loss is not much for the speed boost. I got to level 3 on the battle pass. It takes a bit though, def like 4 hours and had 1 win and several top 3 places during that 4 hours.

Castlevania Judgement will gladly rear it's awkward belt-covered head. And glorious soundtrack.

Not technically Xbox related, but it is Blu-Ray and 4K Blu-Ray so I thought I’d share. Went to Target today and they have Stranger Things seasons one and two in the Target exclusive VHS packaging on 4K for $20 a season and Blu-Ray for $10 a season. In addition, there is a Cartwheel coupon for 50% off each season. I was able to get both seasons on Blu-Ray for $10.26 after REDCard discount and tax. I did have to have customer support assistance since I used the self checkout so possible YMMV.
Thanks for this! Just remembered yesterday when I was at Target.

Disappointing to hear about the battle pass... maybe if enough people push back they will adjust the grind required?

Guess i'm not gonna pick up the bp unless they make some changes.

I have the same concern. I was likely going to pull the trigger on getting the Reqiuem collection for PS4, but if this collection includes Rondo, this would obviously be the better deal. Really wish they would have announced the full lineup in this new collection.

Of course I got Vampr about a month ago and haven’t had much of a chance to play it. I need to just stop buying games.

I'm watching the DF video on Stadia and I don't understand it. "Anywhere that there's a screen, you can play". But those are very overwhelming stats that would be expensive to sell.

Is streaming games simply having a massive amount of bandwidth? They're saying 4k60 available which is a lot of data. And playing a Pixelbook functions. I don't understand the tech behind streaming games including whatever the new plans are for the discless Xbox.

That controller sucks.
