Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.

Maybe it already hit the limit if there is one. It was bound to be used a lot when it got to Delta. If you were active it should show up this as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate with a "next charge" date.

https://account.microsoft.com/services/

After joining and downloading Delta from the Rewards app, I went back to join Ultimate from the app and it took me to sign up in the store, where it gave me a Manage option.
It was their servers messing up. Took me about almost 3 hours of constantly refreshing but I got in. I didn't have game pass so I got 21 months of game pass for the $1.06 they charged me to sub to game pass ultimate. I am extremely happy since I was going to sub to game pass anyway for this years Forza and Other Worlds.

As for Game Pass Ultimate, If I add more live or GP before switching will I get the additional time also?
Yes, add any more time to your account before you make the switch to GPU. As I mentioned before, any codes for GP or XBLG that you try to add to your account AFTER making the switch would give an error.

I just signed up to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and feel like I made out like a bandit.

I started the day with no Game Pass and my Xbox Live Gold expiring next month on the 13th. I had a month of free Gold I never used that came with my X and a year of free Gold I got a couple of months ago on sale from redeeming it using points from MS Rewards. So I used both of them today so my Gold was good to July 2020. I bought the Game Pass 3 month deal for 1 dollar then used 17000 of my MS points to redeem another 3 months of Game Pass, so now I had 6 months of Game Pass. I joined Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and subscribed for a 1 dollar.

I'm now good till Feburary 13th 2021 for both Gold and Game Pass and spent just 2 dollars. And worse yet, the 2 dollars I used were from a 5 dollar credit I received today from redeeming it on sale using 4000 MS points.

Today was a Good Day.

Wow, this has been an easy thread to skip through lately...
You mean all the helpful posts with people explaining a great deal on GamePass Ultimate? Sure.

Off topic but the Steam Link app is finally available on iOS and Apple TV. Might have to give it a try.

Did GPU as a delta member just now. Had 18 and 16 months of gold and gp respectively. I now have GPU until April of 2022 and paid 1 dollar. Best deal ever.

My steam link app works better on my Samsung TV App than my physical piece of Steam Link hardware all hardwired and always has, so hopefully it's good.

Castlevania Collection achievements went up on TA, about as lame an achievement list as expected when it's something involving Hamster, and laugh appears to be an issue where it's only showing 835 points right now instead of the usual 1000 points. Same weird quirks also as the Konami Arcade Collection a couple weeks ago where you can get Japanese versions of some games jumping through some hoops. Japanese version of Castlevania 1 is easier but I wonder if it goes as far as stuff like Castlevania 3 and the superior Japanese music.

If you mean Outer Worlds, I don't think it will be on GamePass. Even though it is Obsidian it is still be published by Private Division, which is part of Take-Two, who have no games on GamePass. They're a subsidiary of Take-Two like Rockstar and 2K, and currently have zero games on the service.

There will be no Forza this year either, with 8 only being in the concept phase as of two months ago.

https://gamingbolt.com/forza-motorsport-8-is-in-early-development-turn-10-studios-confirms

The only confirmed big game for the rest of the year right now is Gears 5. Ori 2 is still scheduled for this year, and maybe Battletoads is possible.

Yeah, I had the same experience with the Samsung app (before I sold the TV and got my TCL). So hope so too.

Bought a PS4->XB1 Brooks adapter.  Works great.  Feels so much better using a DualShock 4 to play games that make heavy use of the D-pad like fighting games and platformers.

Everything I've read says that M2 is handling the Castlevania Collection, and they're going to release a patch to make the Japanese versions selectable.

My guess is, they need to be able to sell Game Pass to 3rd party publishers so they want to be able to say they have millions of subscribers even if they are giving it out for free.

My other guess is a lot of people here have at least Gold banked months out in advance, despite the cost of losing spouses, family members, close friends, the gawd damn dog due to stuff like MS Rewards. That said the MS plan going forward which is more and more likely they just want you to be on one of their subscriptions and really don't care if you're streaming it on a Switch/mobile device or actually downloading the stuff to a PC or actually on one of their XBox branded pieces of hardware they want to simplify things as quickly as possible. They were never ever going to be able to sell both a Gold Sub and and GamePass Sub at the same exact time anywhere outside the ecosystem they have now. PC is not going to pay for multiplayer, putting Game Pass on other systems and then also asking them to pay for multiplayer was never going to work. Get it simplified to one subscription right now and move forward, why they are hard charging on offering it to everyone that would be in the know to convert right now.

That's genius.

It's also first step on Fantasyland of Mario on Xbox.

You mean all the helpful posts with people explaining a great deal on GamePass Ultimate? Sure.
Mostly the ones posting their accomplishments of acquiring the deal...and also the repeating over and over about how to do it. Sorry, didn’t mean to offend those trying to get their chats about Steam in the Xbox thread.

MS is definitely playing the long game with Game Pass, to get as many people using it as possible. Wider install base, better sell to 3rd parties, more likely people will continue to subscribe if they get used to having it and like it.

It probably goes without saying at this point, but if you have any interest, love or nostalgia for 8-bit platforming in the vein of DuckTales or Mega Man, please buy this game. $12.49 would be a steal for just the base game, but with the two existing expansions and the upcoming final expansions coming later this year (presumably...), it's fantastic.
Seconded. I've replayed it many times on 3DS and Xbox and my love for this game is boundless. Plague Knight's campaign is frustratingly hard at times because he controls much more erratically, but Specter Knight is a whole other thing and it's awesome.

I'm looking forward to what Yacht Club Games creates in the future, once they finish King Knight's expansion.

Ah that stinks, but 21 months of game pass for basically free is still free games. Does game pass work on PC? Wondering if Master Chief Collection will be included on PC with Game Pass.

Xbox game pass ultimate is available to delta ring members today. May take a few to show in the insider app.

More info here

Thanks for the heads up! I was barely a Level 2 insider so I knew I wouldn't get to Beta anytime soon, but already qualified for Delta. I had 2 12 Month Gold resub cards from a Target clearance deal I got for $18 each a couple years ago. Each 12 month renewal added 1 additional month if I left recurring payment on. Those 26 months on top of my existing Gold and GP subs put me at near exactly 3 years. I lost less than 2 weeks from overlap. Major thanks to this thread for all the updates.

Edit: Just caught up on morning posts. This is dedicated to you Docsamson lol.

Yes, the games that are Play Anywhere (like Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, Recore, FH4, etc) and are in Game Pass will allow you to install on your PC as long as you're signed in to the store with the same account.

MCC will be on Game Pass for W10, but it hasn't been confirmed as a Play Anywhere title yet. I assume this is because they know everyone and their grandma has the Xbone version so they're debating if the PC-only audience is big enough where their sales alone will be enough to justify the dev costs (they're putting a good amount of work into it and exclusive PC features compared to the usual W10 port).
I'm sure it being on Steam and needing to be bought there regardless helps its chances (and is part of why it's on Steam day one in the first place).

Their official excuse is that MCC released before Play Anywhere so it wasn't made/listed in the store with that in mind, but it's easy enough to have the store grant a person something for free for owning something else (see: Mark of the Ninja Remastered and Earthlock) and the PC version is still in development, so how difficult would it really be?

Hmm, what if Microsoft is combining these services as a way to not give out GWG in the future? You don’t need 4 free ganes a month when game pass comes with tons of games constantly

It wouldn't be called Game Pass "Ultimate" if it was meant to be the only service.
It's just a service bundle that includes a discount (think of it like the "Triple Play" of a cable company, they're still happy to offer all the services separately but they know you're more likely to get a service you wouldn't get otherwise if it's bundled at a discount).
Now I COULD see them downsizing their freebies to match Sony. Hopefully they don't, but with the game selection lately, you have to wonder if it's the publishers asking for more money or if MS is refusing to spend as much on the games.

In order to sell Game Pass Ultimate, you have to keep Gold appealing. I'm not sure we're at the point where people are willing to sub to Gold only for MP access (see: the backlash to Plus' current bullshit).

So now that I'm caught up on GoT, I'm entertaining the idea of seeing the last episode in a theater. I can't seem to find out any info on this though (just stuff from previous years). I only see empty pages on Fandango and articles about previous seasons or stuff in Europe. Anyone have a clue?

Yikes, have a nice day.
Pro tip - It's best to not complain about posts that annoy you and just let them be and move on...

Bought a PS4->XB1 Brooks adapter. Works great. Feels so much better using a DualShock 4 to play games that make heavy use of the D-pad like fighting games and platformers.
Blasphemy!!! Offset analog sticks or GTFO!!!!
All kidding asside the Kronus device would have been a better option, which would allow the use of any controller on an console. PS4 on a Wii if that's your thing.....weirdo!

So, should the Rage 2 pre-order bonus show in my installed content? Redeemed a code, but no download or any indication it worked.
Same thing happened to me. You have to make sure you have a Bethesda account you can do this on the main screen. Then next time you jump in a game it should show it unlocked for you. I read a bunch of different things people have tried some even had to restart the game. But this worked for me.

They won't be easy to find but I think some smaller theaters are showing it "under the radar" to avoid getting shut down by HBO.

Really all I care about is getting it free on W10 with Game Pass. I'm fine with two separate versions, so awesome.

Man, it is weird playing walking simulator type games after playing stealth based games for so long. The speed at which your character moves in this game I kinda have an expectation that I can go up to someone and one hit murder them, but that isn't the case.

Castlevania Collection is live. A thread on Resetera has some feedback on the ports, the controls sound oddly mapped:

it's up on xbox.com finally

yeah the controls are backwards. A for whip and X for jump... ffs. it's screwing me up already. annoying.

And a response:

You can also whip with Y and jump with B, might be more comfortable.
X for jump? Ewwww.

Just finished Edith Finch because I needed a change of pace and enjoyed it a lot. Thanks to someone for mentioning Tacoma, will play it eventually.

If you care about achievements, look up the guides for it. They are really easy to do while playing or you can continue at the end and get them like that.

Sorry, the deal was so good I just had to shout it out loud and let everyone know. I apologize if this in any way negatively affected your thread viewing experience.

I don't understand the CAG fascination with GamePass.  I can see its appeal to the average user, but with my backlog, GWG, and an occasional sale purchase, I have zero interest in a game rental service.  But I'm glad those who like it are geting good deals.

Yeah I think the one miss out of the Castlevania collection so far is non re-mapable controls. Ha when you go into options, with the Left Trigger button mind you, there is an option for "Control" and all it does is bring up a jpeg of what their default layout is instead of actually letting you change anything. I'm really not having too bad a time getting used to it, I'm not getting the Mega Man on gamecube disaster control vibe from it at least. I've never dabbled with it but I suppose you could change what each Xbox controller button does at the system level in accessibility if it's too tough to overcome. Seems like solid emulation from M2, and hope it sells well enough that it's just a matter of time before were getting the 2nd collection.

A lot of the appeal for me was that by trading in Halo Wars 2, Dead Rising 3, Halo 5, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, Gears Of War 4 and Wolfenstein: TNO, I've paid nothing for not only continued access to those (except DR3 which I beat before it left) but also maybe 20 other short single-player games I've dug but wouldn't have purchased. And not needing to purchase Crackdown 3, Sea Of Thieves or Forza Horizon 4 has already covered my cost for another year, before we even get into Gears 5, Halo Infinite and Ori 2.

Agree. I barely have time for my new shit. Still ok to have for my kids I guess. They like some games I would never buy.

Plenty of new releases drop day and date on Game Pass now it's probably worth it's value just for MS first party releases alone so I'm not sure what's hard to understand about it.

I felt the same. I got an extra 20 months of Game Pass and 9 months Gold for a $1 basically.

Posts like this are why people keep feeling the need to explain the deal over and over again.

I assume most people have XBL Gold - Let's say your Gold sub is good until Feb 2020 right and you have no Game Pass at all.

You wouldn't pay a $1 to get an extra month of Gold and now you have Game Pass through March 2020?

That's what this offer does.
