Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.

That is disheartning. I'll just create a couple of spare accounts and redeem 12 month Gold codes and use them when my Ultimate expires.

Funny that Sonic Racing Transformed isn't on sale. Maybe they don't want to remind us that it might be better than Team Sonic Racing.
and the fact that it was free with GwG around this time last year too.

It's probably Interplay's fault. They're in control of the price, so they're probably just trying to milk as much money as they can out of it.

Figures the platform that doesn't have Mania for "free" has a discount on it's DLC.

Still waiting for $5 prices for Generations and Free Riders so I can switch to digital. Generations is an overdue GWG to boot.

Trying to play the new Borderlands 2 on Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode but it is just too much of a slog solo. I guess I am just going to breeze through it on the level below with my Level 65 Commando. Kind of sucks.

Anyone actually been able to use PC GamePass? Keeps saying “not quite ready” when I try to install the required Xbox app. But my PC is at version 1803, which I thought was supposed to be the version you need.

Well, I just went to the three 24 hour stores within a few minutes of my house an between them there was only one PS4 copy of Bloodstained. Guess I'm waiting for Best Buy or Gamestop tomorrow. Thanks to either my local stores or 505 Games I guess.

On the plus side, one of the stores had an Xbox display that was playing five year old trailers.

You need 1903. I had to get the Microsoft update assistant thing to get my computer to update.

Heads up for anyone that bought the Castlevania: Anniversary Collection, the update that adds the Japanese versions of the game has been released. I know several people were looking forward to that specifically for the music in Castlevania III.

Thanks. Didn’t realize it had the “9” instead of an “8”, lol. Also had to use the upgrade assistant. Not sure why Windows itself kept saying it was up to date.

I had the same issue. The assistant thing was the only way to go. Updated all three computers at home.

Thats probably what 12 months of Gold will be so checks out. Luckily if you took up the $1 GP deal you can just keep buying it every 3 months.
Still haven't pulled the trigger on UGP. Is there any good reason not to? Once the sub ends, you can continue with individual subscriptions if you feel like it, yeah?

It's an amazing deal, just make sure to load up on some Gold/GP subscription first, up to 3 years. The only tiny downside is that if you want to revert to regular gold, you actually have to let the GPU subscription expire first. If you enter Gold or GP codes while you have GPU, they will convert to extra GPU sub at a reduced time.

I was actually just going to ask about this because I made the mistake of converting from XBL to GPU before I understood that I should have maxed out to a full 3 years first (I only have about 18 months). I have a couple 12-month Gold codes I could use to extend from the sounds of it...but how much would the 12 months be reduced?

Still haven't pulled the trigger on UGP. Is there any good reason not to? Once the sub ends, you can continue with individual subscriptions if you feel like it, yeah?
The only reason I upgraded to ultimate was I had a code for a year I could redeem and had four months on each service left. Adding that year of gold before I switched to ultimate gave a basically a free year of game pass. I’m definitely going to let it expire when it does and go back to separate subscriptions unless the pricing gets lowered.

I currently have both Gold & Game Pass subbed until 2022.  And since I don't really play PC games, upgrading to GPU wouldn't really make sense to me at this time, right?

A 12-month Gold code will only get you 4 months of GPU after the fact. Here's the conversion chart.

I'm wondering if the 1903 update is beta, both because the weird update procedure (my machine didn't do it right the first time) and I've got 2 BSOD since installing it and I haven't had a single one since I built this computer last year.

You are mostly correct. Another minor benefit is that GPU subscribers will have access to Gears 5 Ultimate 4 days before launch, whereas a regular Game Pass subscription will only get the standard version of Gears 5 on the launch date. I don't know if they will do any more of these upgraded game editions for Ultimate subscribers or not.

It's not beta, but it's only been out for a month and MS is slow-rolling the upgrade, so a lot of people haven't gotten it automatically yet. That's why you may have to force it to install if you want it now.

I just received a Microsoft gift card. I read you can use it at Microsoft Store online or in store to get Gold?

If not, I think I’ll get My Time in Portia since it’s on sale and I don’t like paying full price but the little ones might like Monster Jam Steel Titans coming out next week.

I appreciate their transparency, but dang, some of those conversions aren't great. 12 months Gold for 4 months Ultimate does make sense, though, since they both equal out to $60 MSRP. I'm guessing there will be discounts on subs just like there have been for everything else, and MS is building their install base for the long-term.

That’s why it’s important to get a good amount of GamePass and/or Gold now and convert while they still are doing the 1:1 conversion. It’s an awesome deal.

I'm having some trouble with the resume game/suspend feature. I'm currently playing Arkham City on game pass and sometimes the suspend feature works and sometimes I have to load the game up from the beginning. I've turned off the system in game and I've also gone back to the main menu and turned off the system. It doesn't seem to matter which one I do. This has also happened with some other games too.

I rarely even open any other apps. The only thing I mostly do is watch Fox Sports Go and then we'll go right back to the game. Sometimes it resumes and sometimes I have to launch it again. What is going on?

The game is closing somehow. If you go to dashboard and quit the game that is stopping the process. If you go into another app that needs an update that will also close the game. If the game needs an update it will close. If you have auto update feature on your xbox itself, it will need to close all apps before updating.

In a word, something is probably auto updating in the background which closes open apps.

That Lego DLC for Forza Horizon 4 is fun, my son and I played it this morning, not very far into it but it’s very cheerful and bright. That was a good idea for DLC. It looks like you work towards building a Lego house as you win races.

Well, I just went to the three 24 hour stores within a few minutes of my house an between them there was only one PS4 copy of Bloodstained. Guess I'm waiting for Best Buy or Gamestop tomorrow. Thanks to either my local stores or 505 Games I guess.
Update, Best Buy also only had the PS4 version, no Switch or Xbox. Ended up finding it at Gamestop. With so many stores it seems like the publisher must expect that vast majority of sales to be from PS4. Seems kind of stupid since literally ever Igavania except Symphony of the Night was on GBA and DS.

At least according to the Best Buy website, my local store has Xbox copies of Bloodstained in stock. Might have to grab one.

Is this related at all to Curse of the Moon?
If you mean the code issue, I doubt it since the CotM codes were sent out when that came launched a while ago. If you mean the games themselves, not really any more. Originally CotM was supposed to be a prequel but I guess this changed in development and it's stand alone. This makes sense to a degree as it has like 6 different endings, though they could have just chosen a canon one. As is, it shares the setting, characters, and many enemies but isn't actually connected story-wise.

There's a new launch trailer showing a guest character (or possibly ability?).
