Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

When I got mine in December I think I wasted 50 stimpacks in Fallout 76 bumping one of them the first month. Now, I never bump them unless I set it down on an uneven surface without disabling them first. I just had to get used to them. Muscle memory and all that.
Yeah, I'm surprised how often they activate when I set the thing down on the couch.

One nice thing I will say about the Switch Lite is I like Nintendo not relying on the traditional black, gray and white console color schemes and the Pokemon version looks stupid nice. $200 to lose so many features though makes me feel I'd buy a refurbished collectors edition design one down the line at best.

Also I'm about three months away from my trip to Japan, my biggest downside in all this is I will lose my XBox Rewards Weekly streak.

What’s all this about losing features? I think the D pad looks way better. I already own a switch but I’ll probably pick up a couple of these lites for road trips with the kids and for when I want the TV and they can play something too.

What are you losing? Rumble in the controllers? What else? I know it can’t hook to the TV but that’s what the original one does.

Can't remove the controllers from the console as well so any game that doesn't have a handheld mode requires separate controllers. Which isn't really too much of a loss considering vast majority of the games support handheld. For me I prefer gaming at home most of the time and I still rather wait for high powered hotness.

But on the positive side it may save your marriage and keep your kids from disowning you!

Smaller screen and will only run the low res 720p "portable mode" version of games, battery life barely improved, can't connect to a TV, all joycon features like motion cameras and hd rumble as well as kickstand are missing.

BOO!!!! Give me my HD'er stronger Switch you cowards! I Even bought my first game for last night it for a console I don't even officially own yet.
Don't be surprised if a Nintendo Switch XL is announced for some soon holiday season.

Would it blow your mind to know that sometimes GameStop sells new games as used???

I'd trade each one of my metaphorical kids and wife it they were worth about as much as an Ultimate Game Pass code each...

If I were a betting man I'd say March next year the earliest, because when their new fancy revisioned consoles seem to come out. Also because Nintendo loves St. Patricks Day,

And they put a round sticker on it that leaves a ton of residue when peeled. That's obviously as good as new.

You can do the missions on your phone no problem. I’m sure there will be plenty of WiFi spots for you to hook up to so you don’t have to use international data. Then you can do your mobile searches, then switch to desktop site and get your pc searches

The weekly challenges are only available on the Microsoft Rewards app on XBox One and are different and vary from challenges like logging on to getting achievements or whatever.

I think on a 5" screen, 720p will look just fine. That's the same resolution movies download onto iOS devices and they look great on a small screen that way. I think the ONLY game I'd want on the TV and wouldn't be 100% happy with portable is Smash Brothers.

Right, but that's still a new game being "used." I'm talking the other way around. Like you buy a sealed brand new game and their POS sees it as a used game.

if the screen is smaller and still 720p, that's a higher pixel density which makes the image clearer. plus games played at lower resolution (720 portable vs 1080 docked) typically run smoother.

Does anyone have any experience with rasbery pi? I want to do one but could use some tips.
I set up a pi 3b+ About a year ago. Your first stop should be https://retropie.org.uk/ They have all the instructions on how to do an install from a pre made image which makes things super easy. Retropie/retroarch I highly recommend using an ftp program such as filezilla to transfer roms to the pi’s as card. If you don’t, you have to load your files on a usb stick and plug it in to the pi and wait. The only indicator of progress is if your usb stick stops blinking then it’s done. And if you want to delete something then you have to dive in to the pi’s menus and manually delete. If you use FileZilla or other ftp, you can just open up windows and drag and drop like windows explorer. It was very intimidating for me at first but YouTube and github.com got me through everything just fine.

What are you wanting to do with it? I bought one to tinker around with RetroPie and bought a preloaded image on eBay that had it installed with all the roms.

However I didn't like the controls I found it very clunky and not enjoyable to navigate from game to game

This is the thread for all things, so I find it hard to believe whatever you posted was wrong.
That's odd, at the top of my screen it says this is the Xbox Deals thread in the Video Game Deals subforum... I mean, even the Off Topic & Lifestyle sub forum has threads with titles implying a topic. I don't see a kitchen sink thread for whatever random garbage you want to post, and I can assure you that this isn't that thread. *edit* Based on other comments in this thread, your post isn't an "obvious joke." Sarcasm doesn't work well in text. Maybe try a jk or lol or smiley face?

I've really been getting back into R6 Siege. I already have the Year 1 & 2 passes and would like to get Year 3 & 4, but I can't find a Year 3 pass anywhere. The only option I seem to have is the Ultimate Ed, which goes on sale for $55 and would only save $5 over just buying the passes individually. I checked Amazon, Wallymart, Ebay, g2a (which I don't like to buy from), cdkeys, and the trade thread. Does anyone know another place I might check? Is there a trustworthy place to get discount R6 credits to buy the operators piecemeal*? I've pretty much resigned to wait for Year 5 and hope the Ult Ed is still $55.

*This option doesn't really appeal to me as you generally can't game share currency dlcs so my brother still wouldn't have the newer operators.

Mostly I was going to get it play some old school games with the kids.
I was mostly looking for something quick and easy but seams like it takes some work. I tried to get an snes classic but they have been discontinued and pulled from shelves.i was thinking the raspberry pi would be a cheaper solution instead of trying to pay over 100 for an snes classic.

I was eyeing the ps classic but heard it's pretty horrible.

Maybe you have enough in-game currency to buy the year 3 operators? If you got the Y1 and Y2 passes, and if you've been playing, you could have enough currency to buy the Y3 operators over time. (Or would those operators be tied to your account and not game-shareable? That part I'm not too familiar with....)

FYI - Timespinners and Lego City Undercover are live on XBox Game Pass. Timespinners is a surprise, it was announced as PC Game Pass only.
Timespinners is PC Game Pass only, however it's also Play Anywhere, so if you have Game Pass Ultimate then you have access to the Xbox version due to Play Anywhere not Xbox Game Pass. Hope that makes sense.

Check Kohls. I actually bought a snes classic earlier today from Kohls online at retail price with free shipping.

Speaking of kitchen sinks and garbage. How many people have a kitchen sink with a garbage disposal? Do you recommend? How well does it work. Can I grind up old PS3 and 360 games in it?

Timespinner is a excellent game. I've been playing it on Vita and the soundtrack is really good.

It definitely takes its inspiration from Symphony of the Night.

I'm excited for Blazing Chrome. That looks like a fun run and gunner that takes inspiration from Contra.

Just added both to my download queue.

SNES Classic

Lame, so my black Elite Controller that I bought that pre-owned from GameStop has stick drift. I didn't notice it until I played some shooters and set the stick deadzone below 10% or so. Problem is, no local stores have one I can exchange for.

On TMNT:

The TMNT license has been flopped around from Konami, to Ubisoft, to Activision, and now likely rests with THQ Noridic along with the general Nickelodeon license. They were in that shit Nick arcade racer last year which was published by GameMill Entertainment, so I assume they're part of the bigger license now in theory. That said, WB was allowed to license them for Injustice 2, so it's possible they aren't under an exclusive license anymore. If that's the case it may be possible for Konami to put out a collection of their classic games, pretty much the list 2ndopp posted would likely be the selection, along with the Gameboy stuff, judging from how they've handle Castlevania and Contra. Personally I don't think those NES games hold up nearly as well as Castlevania or Contra. I wouldn't mind Tournament Fighters getting a re-release but it's not exactly well balanced and it really doesn't hold up when compared to something like the Street Fighter Anniversary collection as far as retro fighting games are concerned. Turtles in Time is the real gem in there.

With all that in mind, we have no evidence to support that Konami wants to pay for a license to something in the current era. For example, Pro Evolution Soccer is about to have some superficial changes this year because they wouldn't pony up for whatever soccer license they've used for a while now. They are actively releasing titles from the back catalog that are easy and cheap to release following Capcom's model, along with new but cheap to develop stuff based on their own IP. One big factor I'm seeing as a possible sticking point is Disney vs Nickelodeon. For whatever reason, Disney seems to not give a shit about their old games, and I get the impression that they've been giving the licenses out for dirt cheap (All the reasonably priced Star Wars re-releases, Disney Afternoon Collection from Capcom, Double Fine being able to afford to buy back their original IP while still independent). With Nick, we just don't know what they're mindset is, as they've only really been allowing shovelware to come out until THQ decided to remaster some of their decent older games.

On the Switch Lite:

As far as I'm aware, your digital purchases on Switch are locked to one console at time, even if you log in with your account on a new system There is some sort of system transfer feature, but I don't think it's really intended to be used regularly. Not a big deal if you buy primarily physical, but still something to factor in for current owners considering getting a second one. I would say Cloud Saves could be a saving grace, but it's not exactly when big games like Animal Crossing and Splatoon 2 are left out for asinine reasons. If you plan on "upgrading" to the smaller model and getting rid of the old one it seems more appealing, but I wouldn't want to sacrifice TV play myself.

Hopefully the build quality is improved on it. I hear a lot about issues with stick drift in JoyCons.

Apparently Insinkerator disposals can handle gravel dry, so I think they can handle old PS3 and 360 games.

But beware pulpy plants, like cut flowers and such. You WILL be digging those out of your disposal.

Just imagine - if that store had done its job when taking the controller in, you wouldn't have even had the option to buy it to begin with. Are there any stores close enough for them to transfer one to your store, or is there any online stock?

You MIGHT be able to get the controller repaired or replaced through your local Microsoft Store, but heavily YMMV. I had a friend go with me to the mall and while I was there he talked to the store about his TWO Elite controllers that had issues and he walked out with two brand new controllers. In case I haven't mentioned it yet, heavily YMMV.

Thanks for the posts on Timespinner. Didn’t know it would be available courtesy of Play Anywhere. Nice surprise.

Funny that every time I look at the name I want to think it’s Timesplitter, lol.

If I wasn't still finishing Bloodstained, I'd be starting Timespinner soon, but I don't think I can handle more than one game like that a time.

Also, 25 hours in, Bloodstained is still awesome.

Just to be clear, I am not joking or playing a character. I legitimately think a forum thread going off topic is exactly the same as a soccer game being interrupted for a picnic. I constantly see posts from people asking about a game on sale get drowned out by a bunch of "regulars" that want to argue about WWE or some random AV question. That's cool that you want to talk to your little internet buddies and no one else really cares, but I feel bad for the guy trying to decide what the best bang is for his $5 that's being ignored. Like, can you imagine asking for fitness advice on a fitness forum and even there no one wants to listen to you or help you out?

As for R6S, my bro unlocked different characters than I did with renown so those don't share. We both got the R6 credits from the season passes, but I'm fairly sure just R6 credits wouldn't share. Actually, those r6 credits might be because I changed up how I game share and had to buy the season passes again on my bro's account. Some of it might have even come from The Division or uplay or something. Usually monopoly money doesn't share, like ESO and GTA have both screwed me with that in the past.

I'm pretty sure this is universally the same for all games, or else you would be screwing the dev/pub out of their fair share by being able to spend one purchase of in-game currency more than once.
