Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Let's forget for a moment if you're on a newer console you're playing the digital version.

Let's forget physical media is dead or dying and we're not going back, not even if you wish really hard.

And let us forget the physical games keep digital prices artificially high, so you're not saving money, you're costing us billions.

What concerns me is we're in earth's 6th great extinction, HUMANITY IS AT RISK AND DYING, and plastics are a HUGE reason for this. If fills our landfills and poisons our lakes, streams and oceans, OUR DRINKING WATER, and civilization will collapse with the oceans and this isn't even a concern of yours......lmao...smfh. #CagLife

I don't care if you're a delusional right winger who thinks science is a left wing conspiracy or that your sky god will fix everything so "don't worry". What I've said or DEMONSTRABLE FACTS......REALITY and you're not in it.

I really hate reading through this ....stuff. Let's not talk about saving money, let's talking how I don't care about anything but myself and my privilege. CagLife!

Instead of buying a game I won't play I bought a homeless Veteran shoes here in Vegas, it's hot with no shoes. Excuse me if I don't brag about wasting my money while my neighbors suffer. I know I don't fit in with the cool crowd.
How do you know the veteran wasn't trying to save the landfills and oceans from shoes?

The real crime is the next post after that being cap and not taking them to task. Turn in your velour jumpsuit!

And to the rest of you, stop being so fickle. FICKLE! FICKLE!

Lately I feel sad. I’ve bought games in my history and place them gently in my backlog and promise to play them one day. Then I discover in this forum that the game is generally disliked and I regret having it installed and those lost monies.

No worries. We don’t play the games anyway. It’s important to keep the backlog well fed.

Have been on the road for work the last 5-6 days and with limited internet. Stoked for the Doom 3 port since I've been hankering for a replay on BC, but this version sounds superior to the 360 one. Probably going to buy 20XX while it's on sale since I've heard such good things, if it shows up on Game Pass later, you're welcome.

No, the real crime is folks quoting those posts, which makes said posts visible and renders block/ignore moot.

Have the Doom 3 BFG disc for BC but guess hearing that the new release is native 4K, I’m gonna have to pick it up and sell my disc.

Surprised that it isn’t marked as Xbox One X enhanced if it is native 4K.

Remember that personal taste is always a factor. One gamer's Superman 64 is another one's Spiderman 64/PS1.

This post got me thinking, though. What are some of the games generally considered trash that you have fond memories of? For me, it's the generally hated PS1 Simpsons games, Skateboarding and Wrestling. I remember at the time I enjoyed them, especially Wrestling. Looking back now, I see how broken those games were, but that's what they say about hindsight.

There is a thing called recycling. Just sayin’.
You must live somewhere that dumps their recycling somewhere shady. Over here, the only plastic we are allowed to recycle is milk jugs. Everything else goes to the garbage because China doesn't want it anymore. So Gamestop sure as fuck is dumping everything plastic in the trash, just like every regular Joe Dick and Harry. I can't even recycle shredded paper or gift wrap anymore, it all has to go to the trash. Their website literally encourages you to throw it out "when in doubt" about whether or not an item is recyclable.

NPR Planet Money had a recent podcast episode about this. Wife and I stopped wasting our time with recycling anything except metals.

For my fellow D2 players, this is the last chance to play a round of Iron Banner for the Lord of Wolves emblem.

Enter the Matrix comes to mind. I Legit can't tell you why I beat that game multiple times or how I was able to with how buggy and glitchy it was, but I did and I'm sure I'd hate it now.

Lately I feel sad. I’ve bought games in my history and place them gently in my backlog and promise to play them one day. Then I discover in this forum that the game is generally disliked and I regret having it installed and those lost monies.
Just assume every game is terrible and be pleasantly surprised. Case in point, I beat Metal Gear Survive last week and outside of the incredibly grindy post campaign stuff, it was surprisingly enjoyable.

NPR Planet Money had a recent podcast episode about this. Wife and I stopped wasting our time with recycling anything except metals.
That was a good episode. I think there's even more that could be said on the subject and how we like to fool ourselves into thinking we can make a difference just to feel a little better about our waste. I guess we just need to float garbage barges around like they park those wrecked cars in front of high schools.

FYI, I'm a pretty conservative person who is not considered an environmentalist in the least. Would just like to see some common sense solutions and improvements that aren't people patting themselves on the back with a disposable one-time use back patter.

Have the Doom 3 BFG disc for BC but guess hearing that the new release is native 4K, I’m gonna have to pick it up and sell my disc.

Surprised that it isn’t marked as Xbox One X enhanced if it is native 4K.
If you're talking about this page, I imagine they are just slow to update it (even though it has lots of games labeled "Coming Soon" and "In Development").

For my fellow D2 players, this is the last chance to play a round of Iron Banner for the Lord of Wolves emblem.
In the recent TWAB they mentioned giving people that played Crucible during "Laser Tag Weekend" an exclusive emblem also, and I regret not playing Crucible that weekend at all.

This emblem is gnarly as hell and I won't be getting it. Thanks for the reminder though, I need to add some stuff to the (mostly defunct) D2 thread regarding upcoming events.

Good point.

Guess I’m still pretty stupid when it comes to this stuff, lol. Just checked on the site for the one who does our recycling and guess it’s just “#1 and #2 plastics”. Oops!

Though I can’t remember the last time I actually recycled more than plastic soda bottles, milk jugs and maybe shampoo bottles (luckily those seem to still all qualify). Oh and cardboard and aluminum cans, which also still work.

But now I am officially better educated. :)

I enjoyed wondering the world of Fallout 4 but god do i hate crafting weapons. To me it kills the joy of looting buildings and the corpses of your enemies. It goes from finding an awesome gun some where to finding an okay gun and having to through a bunch of crap on it to make it worth while.
I had a lot of fun exploring FO4. I live in Mass so it's cool to see what points of interest they include. It makes sense but it's a bit of a bummer how compact everything is. There are 3 points of interest at the top of the map that are like 4 towns away from each other in real life but basically next to each other in game.

While not my favorite part I enjoyed the crafting and base building. I'd lose track of time and end up building a base for a couple hours without realizing.

Where I live your trash technically isn't supposed to get picked up unless you also have a thing of recycling out. We are also allowed to recycling almost anything that's recyclable unless it's got greasy stains on it like a pizza box.

I've often wondered how seeing a world built in a game would feel for places i'm truly familiar with. Seems like mostly a disappointment. Also, I didn't realize the landscape in FO4 was supposed to be as true to life (in relative terms) as you are indicating. That's kind of cool, anyway.

Pulled up resident evil 4 yesterday because I really remembered enjoying it on the wii. Start the game and was quickly reminded about the lack of dual stick control. I kept trying to turn my head with the right stick, changed button configurations multiple times, tried to adapt but got frustrated and deleted it. Some memories are better left that.
I can't believe they haven't added an option for this yet, the 360 version was the same way. Mind blowing considering the new controls they added to REmake and 0.

I guess I have a name I missed for the ignore list, but those are some reaching claims. I'd wager games are on the lower end of plastics that damage the environment and are clogging up landfills. They tend to be reused and resold indefinitely as long as they still function, and lets keep in mind that most of the games manufactured FORTY YEARS ago generally still work.

Also, do you think games are just born out of magic if they're digitally distributed? If you're buying into any of the gaming ecosystems you're using servers that suck up an insane amount of energy, which I'm guessing is not entirely powered by renewable means. A fully streaming game like what Stadia is will definitely have a point where more energy/materials has been spent to get it to play on your device than those games that you physically own or download and play on your own local hardware, other than maybe short games that don't keep replaying.

Maybe go after the plastics that are actually moving the needle, like disposable water bottles. Maybe get off of the gaming deals site and pick up one of these since they're much more environmentally friendly.

As a fellow Mega Man fan, though admittedly not to your level, I absolutely hated 20XX, so much so that I got a refund on. Though I will also say that I’m not a fan of the idea of rogue-like games and this was the first I tried, but the MM references and style were not enough to keep me going. Just my two cents though. (My fave is still MM2 FYI, if that gives a bit of my style as far as the genre goes.)

If you hate rogue-likes then that makes sense. I got pretty hooked on Rogue Legacy and have some fond memories playing the original Rogue off a floppy disk. Curious, have you played Dead Cells?

I'm guessing based on reviews (Steam reviews in particular) that I'll end up liking it, but appreciate the warning!

This is why I quit all gaming and only play Rock, Paper, Scissors and thumb wrestling.

But to keep somewhat on topic, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is my new favorite game of the year. 30+ hours in an 8-10 hour campaign and I’m still hopelessly addicted. Anyone else enjoying it?

I can't quite decide if the kid on the right is a no-good hoodlum or a positive influence.

On the one hand, he's clearly the gang leader in this photo - and he's got the other two kids loitering around in public areas.

On the other hand, he sure is a snappy dresser!

So someone found a QR code in the Halo: Infinite trailer. The URL it opens is an audio file.

https://content.halocdn.com/media/Default/home/343/lx0.0082711ly-0.0251671lz0.0000085-99ddb8f420eb4372922fa21859a2b8ca.mp3

This is who found it, his second Tweet shows where it is in the trailer.

Story thoughts, I feel like this confirms a good version of Cortana. I was leaning toward a new one based on Halsey's brain again as that one concept art may have hinted, but this makes me think it's going to be using the split copies we see during the end of Halo 4. I'm way out of touch with the recent lore so I don't know for sure.

I hope they worked out whatever happened for Hunt the Truth to be so far from what the actual game ended up doing. I know they fired that hack writer a while ago. Not shitting on the Hunt the Truth podcast, it was good for what it was, but it was basically flushed for what they ended up doing instead.

Further down in the thread someone also post this, syncing the audio to the end of the trailer. I'd have to say it fits awfully well.

Which is the Doom that came out way after the other Doom's and was dark and slick as fuck?  Not that Doom we have now that's getting the sequel called Eternal, just like one iteration before that.  The reboot if you will.

It's Doom 3, the $9.99 one. I picked it up last night, still have some nostalgia for it but man some of those textures are rough to look at now. Lighting is very good.

You think it’s worth picking up if I already have the BFG version?
Yeah unfortunately I can't answer that since I never picked it up on the 360. In fact when I was thinking about it I think a majority of my memories of the game are from when the E3 "Pre-alpha" demo leaked to the internet back in 2002, the wild west days when stuff like that could happen.

Hey Bloomy, I think you missed a couple. Street Fighter Collection got discounted further to $19.99 with Gold (it was $23.99 during the Super Sale). I also believe MK11 Season Pass being discounted 20% is new as well.
