Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Hrm. I may just pick up GTA V. I played it a little bit before. I hated 4 and hadn’t played one before that except Vice City. $10 might be worth using some of my points for even if I just drive around listening to the soundtrack.

So time for some fun, I will be giving away up to three games this week, I will pick three winners. However, the 1st pick can choose to take 2 games and the 3rd will go to no one, or they can choose 1 game and the other 2 will go to the 2nd and 3rd picks. A bit of a social experiment

I'm in the final chapter of A Plague Tale, and I've been loving it.  I've wanted a The Last Of Us-style game (story-driven, linear, third-person adventure/action) on Xbox for a long time.  It doesn't have a great deal of replayability outside of collectibles, but $25 is a great price to experience this story.  Highly recommend checking out the trial, but know that the best part of the game - the puzzle-solving and the rats - don't really get touched on in that opening chapter.

New Xbox One X owner here, my console is showing up on Tuesday, and I got the $10 from Microsoft just sitting on my account. Any must play Xbox One games for $10 or less? Or, should I just spend it on a digital Xbox 360 game?
If you like the old ssx series, ssx 3 for the original xbox looks and runs amazingly well on the one x. I'll still take that game over Steep any day.

Can anyone explain to me how game pass ultimate works and how current time translates and what's the best way/time to switch to game pass ultimate? I have my Xbox one x coming Wednesday and am new to all this so any help would be appreciated.

Ultimate is a combination of live, gamepass for console and gamepass for pc. Current time converts at a 1:1 ratio. The best thing to do, since the upgrade is 3 months for $1, is to make sure you have a combined 33 months of live and gamepass before upgrading. Subscriptions cap at 36 months, so you'll have 36 months of ultimate if you upgrade with a combined 33 months of live and gamepass.

AFTER you upgrade redeeming live and gamepass codes won't convert at a 1:1 ratio. Those ratios can be found here:
https://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/gold/upgrade

braiiins, ninja'd me. lol

GamePass Ultimate includes Xbox Live Gold and GamePass which gives you access to 100+ games on console or PC. Each can be purchased separately but you can get 3 months of GPU for $1. Link below:

https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-game-pass?&OCID=AID2000131_SEM_KI9C2QLE

The offer most everyone got on when it launched was for every month of Gold or GamePass, you got one one for GPU up to 3 years. So basically, if you had 1 month of gold and 1 month of GP you would get 2 months of GPU. Does anyone know if this is still valid?

If you have a sub to Gold or GP see if you can upgrade to GPU. If it still gives you the conversion above, then cancel out and make sure you have a combination of 35 months for Gold and GP. It usually gives you an extra month for turning on auto pay which you can then turn off. If the offer is dead, then go for the $1 for 3 months of GPU. The conversion of 1 month of Gold or GP isn't that much to GPU.

Edit: In addition to the above, you get access to  X! MS Rewards which have GamePass challenges monthly to earn MS points.  There is also a new GamePass Hub for daily, weekly, monthly challenges where you can earn more MS points.

Any thoughts on Frostpunk ...?

Tempted to buy it now, but its only 20% off, it doesn't include any DLC, it may come to GamePass, etc.

But it looks like a really interesting game.

December GamePass challenges are up but you may want to wait until tomorrow to start as the challenges may not be working properly. The Biggest Games of 2019 is coming up with an error and doesn't give you a list of eligible titles. The GP mobile app has you downloading a game and it hasn't given me credit and it's hung up on queued even though my X1 external has a lot of space. The challenges aren't showing up at all on mobile.

Also, the new weekly challenges should start tomorrow and you may be a knock out a few cheevos for both depending on whether we have overlapping titles.

Has anyone noticed a change to how GPU works with game sharing?  I gave my old XB1 to my brother when I got an X and kept that as my home console.  When he went to the My Games and App list, I'm pretty sure it used to show both GwG and Game Pass lists, but that doesn't show since I upgraded to GPU.  I thought it might've been because I needed to log in on the system to sync my subscription change, but I did that this past weekend and it still doesn't show the subscriptions for him.  I queued up a couple Game Pass games while logged in and he was able to play them on his account, so that still works.  Am I misremembering and the GwG and Game Pass games used to just show in the regular ready to install list?

Thank you both very much. Looks like I'll have to hunt for some gold and game pass deals before I convert. I appreciate the help!

I could be wrong, but I thought that was the way it worked even before GPU? I remember there being posts on reddit back before GPU even started that described game sharing GP. The other person had to search for the game in the store. Since it's not tied to their account (it's tied to the home console), the GP section in Games and Apps won't be "active" for them.

I remember when I signed up for the $1/month GP deals (before GPU was a thing), I would tell my game share partner to look up the list of GP games on the website and then search in the store to download whatever he wanted to play. (This was before they added that Game Pass tab to the Home screen.)

Final Xbox Black Friday haul...

Turned Rewards Points into $50
Shantae Half Genie Hero and dlc
Castlevania Collection
Contra Collection

That’s it. That’s the list.

Downloaded Tracks: The Train Set Game from Game Pass to try and knock out easy achievements. Can't get past the opening screen, just tells me to press A which does nothing while a balloon flies by. Anyone else tried this game yet?

Remember if you spend $40 you get 5000 pts ($5), just found it on rewards app on Xbox 1.

Do you know if this has to be redeemed before the sale ends? I don't get my Xbox until Wednesday but I bought some digital games that would qualify for the bonus.

You must click on the link in the Microsoft Rewards app once it shows that you spent $40 to receive the bonus points. I think the countdown timer is til 2:00am Pacific Time.

It also does not round up to the nearest dollar. Mine showed $30, but my true total was around $30.50 or so. Once I bought a $9.99 game it showed $40.

Dang okay, sounds like I won't be able to get it.

It's never showed GWG or GP games on my girlfriend's S which has been set to my Home console for two years unless I'm signed in.

I've had game pass since June and been game sharing with my son's Xbox and from all looks, it appears he doesn't have game pass when browsing his console.  Just like others have said you have to either search the store for a game pass title and install it that way, or install it from the game pass app.

Yeah, press the start button instead.

Guess it went away at 1:00am PT, an hour before sales ended. I bought some stuff and it was already gone...Was gonna get them anyway, but I shouldn't have waited so long.

Yeah he might have to seek them out but should be able to download

Ok, thanks. I'm just misremembering then. Gettin' old. Though with my backlog, he's got more than he'd ever have time to play. Probably more than my 5 year old nephew will have time to play.

After putting in all the codes, I got 6 months of Ultimate Game Pass for $1. Which is not too shabby. I like how it has tons of different cool games that I can try. Does the games list ever change, or is it pretty static? Like do they add new games, and remove old ones? The newest game that I saw was The Outer Worlds.

My Xbox One also automatically transferred over 55 games and apps that I had on my 360, that's a pretty cool feature.

They generally ad 6-10 games a month and remove 4ish.

So, if you have those games downloaded, and you have an active GamePass account, can you still play them, or are you forced to buy them? (The ones that get removed)

Got an update from usps saying my modern warfare delivery is coming today instead of tomorrow even with the storm.

Look forward to clearing snow at work all day, getting home, warming up and maybe playing a new game or at least spending a few hours deciding what I want to play.

Once they're removed from gamepass you lose the license to play them. They generally give a decent amount of notice before removal so unless it's a huge game like monster hunter you should have time to beat them unless you only play for a couple hours a week.

If you keep an eye on the thread, there are deals for Game Pass pretty often. Most recently, there was 6 months Utimate for $45 through Amazon and Best Buy, which comes out to $7.50 per month (which includes PC and XBL).

I'm going to miss questionable tube top and short, short skirt fashion choice during a zombie apocalypse look...
