Often overlooked, GoD are by default displayed in dollars both on Xbox.com as well as on the console, but on the very-first confirmation screen of the download process is the option to use Microsoft Points in place of real-world currency.

Through the console, after first selecting to download a GoD you are greeted by a familiar gray confirmation screen that pops up displaying the size of the download as well as confirming the price. At the bottom of this gray pop-up is the instruction to press the "X button" in order to change the payment type to MSP. Pictured below with an arrow:

On Xbox.com they've made it much more obvious, the confirmation "extra step" pop-up after clicking the download link displays a link that simply says "Use Microsoft Points" directly under the price in dollars at the top of the page.
Looks like I'll purchase Pacman CE DX and The Simpsons Arcade. The arcade was the last time I've played the simpsons. Minecraft to top off the 3200msp. Might get Sega Bass Fishin just for fun.

Thanks. I better read the t&c next time. It's only 64msp. I'll go gold tomorrow and be eligible for may.
I seem to remember that being a nuisance, but I don't think I played for more than an hour. I know I just cannot play Beyond Good & Evil HD for this reason. The lack of inversion is so bad and my desire to play the game is so strong I'd consider throwing in on a Kickstarter-like campaign just to put a goddamn patch out for that.
Yeah, BG&E has been sitting in my backlog forever for the exact same reason.

Big Tony Hawk fan and HD is good game, certainly better than Proving Grounds. Doesn't deserve any of the bad reviews. I'd give it an 8 out of 10
Wait so Beyond Good and Evil has no Y invert? Dang might have to just delete it and never play it then.
IIRC it does have a Y invert, but it inverts the X axis at the same time and cannot be changed independently of each other. The reason I never got around to playing it on the cube.
IIRC it does have a Y invert, but it inverts the X axis at the same time and cannot be changed independently of each other. The reason I never got around to playing it on the cube.
This is right. You can either invert both axes or neither of them, but you can't just invert the x or y axis by itself.

Well that really sucks. Im just not going to play it. Last game that I could not invert was Silent Hill Homecoming. Guess this makes 2 times that I have run into this. Good thing BG&E was only 200 when I got it. 2GB back of free space at least.

It's ok. Has some weird bugs and gutted multiplayer. 6.5 is about right.

I hope the dlc is on sale too.

And my purchase last Thursday night has finally shown up on the Rewards page and I've met the criteria.

Double Dragon Neon - 800 points
Battleblock Theater - 1200 points
Retro City Rampage - 600 points
Marvel vs. Capcom: Origins - 600 points

You're not flying a plane, right? Do you look down to see the sky irl? The only time inverting makes any sense is flying a plane, when you actually pull the stick back to go higher and vice versa.
As far as Quantum Conundrum is concerned, I'm through the first 1/3 or so and am loving it. Puzzles seem very Portal-like, and the cartoony atmosphere really fits. (Be sure to look at the paintings). Plus John DeLancie does a great job as the voice of the professor. This game wasn't even on my radar but after playing the demo I had to have it and I don't regret it.
I'm actually a bit obsessed with reading the titles of the various books throughout the rooms. Just wish there was a better mechanic to turn objects over when you are holding them. I have spent half the game running into walls so I can flip a book over to read its cover. I just find them amusing, but I can imagine if anyone was watching me actually play the game they'd think I had some sort of mental disorder.

I've had the game freeze on me twice though now which has been a pain. Has anyone seen the latest trailer for the Ouya exclusive game from Kim Swift - Soul Fjord? Brilliant trailer, too bad it isn't coming to XBLA. I've been wanting a disco viking game so bad for years . . .

Oh, a nice surprise this Wednesday with the release of Frcry 3 Blood Dragon....Zeno Clash 2! I was pretty excited to see that and was dead set on getting it, but then........1600 microsoft points!!!! Yes, the game is coming out at $20. (1600pts) Really Microsoft?!?!!? I thought 1200 ($15) were becoming all to common, but perhaps this is just the beginning. Pretty disappointed.

Well it will be Farcry 3 on Wednesday for me, and hopefully a surprise release of Monaco.
It's $19.99 on Steam, so it's the normal price for that game.
Yeah. Don't blame Microsoft for this, blame the publisher.

Anyway, just waiting for the new sale prices to go up then my last punchcard will be complete!

You guys are weird with this inverted Y axis junk. The game is perfectly playable. I recommend you try it before you write it off, or you'd be missing out on a fantastic game. It seems everytime BG&E is brought up, the conversation devolves into complaining about the control scheme.

You know I'm kind of excited to get Castlevania SotN cuz it's one of those omg so amazing games and yet I've never played it. Along with 99% of Nintendo exclusives and only 1 sonic game. Quite a bit of these classics I've never touched.

If you've ever used a mounted camera (or gun), you do actually pull up to point it down. So it's more if you view it as a camera as opposed to a character.

And when I look down irl, I don't tilt a stick to do it ;) (sorry, just being snarky there).
Thanks for posting about Fusion: Genesis. I've forgotten the title even existed. As a huge Armada fan, I always get excited when someone mentions that Fusion looks reminiscent to Armada, but there doesn't seem to be even one person on the Internet who has played both and could make a direct comparison. I'm not sure this is the thing to fill my last punch card.
I loved Armada, so I think I'm gonna dive right in. Hopefully it's not a false hope.

I hate when people say this, because M$ listens, and the more you complain, the more they'll think about it. 1600 won't be the new 1200 if no one panics and worries, and if hardly no one buys the games at 1600.

I haven't 100% written it off yet, but it's relegated to the bottom of my backlog because I don't want to re-train my hands and brain to be able to properly control the camera.

Wow, relax chief. I was simply disappointed to see an XBLA game hit that mark. We have been seeing more and more XBLA games release at 1200 points and with this game releasing at 1600 I grew annoyed. Now, a few CAGs said the game was $19.99 on steam already, which I was unaware of, but it just seems steep for a downloadable game. No need to get all snippy.

wat game is 20?

You can blame the success of minecraft for publishers willing to take the risk as well though. Castle Crashers for example sold great at 1200, and may have sold just as well at 1600. Granted no game will probably get to the standard set by minecraft, but still.
I haven't 100% written it off yet, but it's relegated to the bottom of my backlog because I don't want to re-train my hands and brain to be able to properly control the camera.
Same. Its not that "easy" to retrain the brain to think that way. And I game alot online so I dont want to affect my stats while im relearning the camera angles. So why bother reprogramming my thinking process for one measly game that does not peak my interest THAT much?
You're not flying a plane, right? Do you look down to see the sky irl? The only time inverting makes any sense is flying a plane, when you actually pull the stick back to go higher and vice versa.
I'll spare you the sarcasm since you're not dishing out too much snark, but asking or expecting me to retrain my brain and dismiss techniques developed over 20+ years of video game playing doesn't make a lot of sense, either. (Not 20+ years of third-person action adventure games, granted...) I really want to play and enjoy BG&E HD, but it's a strangely daunting task for me because of the inversion. And with my ridiculous backlog, it's not too high on my list of priorities - but perhaps I should bump it up.

Speaking of priorities, I should get back to Zeno Clash. It's fun, but I seem to remember it becoming totally maddening a few hours in. I enjoy it enough that I'll pick up the sequel eventually, but NOT AT 20 BUCKS! I think we'll be seeing a sale or price cut on that before much time has passed.

The first (and maybe second) Penny Arcade games and both the Watchmen games debuted at 1600, FWIW. Apparently the first PA game was the third-best debut for an XBLA title at the time, too. The second game, not so hot...

It's nothing against you, I've just "grown annoyed" when people were saying 1200 is the new 800 years ago, and now I "grow annoyed" when people say 1600 is the new 1200, and I'll probably be "growing annoyed" when people say 2000 is the new 1600 in the future, maybe for the next Xbox.

There have only been five 1600 point games so far. Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rainslick Precipice of Darkness Episode One, The Watchmen: The End is Night Episode One, Minecraft, JoJoe's Bizarre Adventure and Zeno Clash II. Penny Arcade Adventures and Minecraft were successful while the rest weren't, but I don't see Zeno Clash II doing that well because of the weird art style and it's more of an appealing game on PC with the special edition and pre-order bonuses that they offered. It's rare enough that nobody should really worry that everybody going to switch to $20 games because most developers don't have games worthy of that price for the vast majority of people, as only two have done well at all at the price.

I'm a few pages behind in this thread, but I wanted to quickly share my personal opinions on a couple of these games (based solely on my experiences with the demos)....

Peggle - I realize that aside from a small amount of strategic planning there isn't much "game" to this game, but goddam if there aren't but a few things that can deliver the same level of grandiose accomplish as Ode to Joy.... Plus my kids can play this. :). I think the analogy to the game Sorry best describes the experience: you can do your best to set things up for success, but you're ultimately dependent on how the cards (balls) drop. I ended up buying this game today to push me over the 3200.

Castlevania Symphony of the Night - I can see why people love this game and it's held in such high regard within gaming lexicon, but to me it just feels a bit too dated (which is understandable considering it's just a PS1 port). Despite my affinity for action-platforms, the constant backtracking of Metroidvania style games is a bit of a turnoff, so I'll probably pass on this.

NFL Blitz - I don't like the passing mechanic.

Pac-man CE DX - I don't see how this game has a 93 Metacritic score. The demo was pretty entertaining, but I worry that there isn't enough variety to keep me entertained. Without many virtual friends to compete against in scoring, will this flashy new finish on Pac-man dull quickly?
There have only been three 1600 point games so far. Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rainslick Precipice of Darkness Episode One, Minecraft, and Zeno Clash II. So.... is there any particular reason for 1 & 2 topping your list save that they're on Dreamcast, since you consider 2x a tier below? I was a bit underwhlemed with 1 on Dreamcast (don't get me wrong it was a good game), and while may favorite overall by far is 3 on XBox (which I still toss my 360 out of 1080 HD so I can play sometimes), I still have very find memories of 2 on the PC and that was probably the one that locked me into liking the series.

You forgot Poland.

I mean, JoJo. And yes, there was definitely a 1600 point Watchmen release also. I'm thinking they both were but these things are not as easily Googled as I previously assumed.
Watchmen 1 was 19.99 too i think Zeno Clash 2 is gonna be fun
That's right. I think that game bombed hard compared to how much hype the movie had at that time.

Yea i know it was 20 cause i bought it when it came out lol. It was ok and there was a sequel to it that was also 20 i think.

Both Sam & Max seasons were 1600 MSP, which is still lower than the PC price years after release.

Puzzle Quest Galactrix was also 1600 msp.

This.

I almost didn't pick it up (even at 200mp) because everyone here was saying not to because of how the controls make it 'unplayable'. After watching some gameplay I decided to give it a chance. From the moment I started playing I never once had any problems with the controls. BG&E is a great game and I definitely recommend it.

I never said the controls were unplayable. But having the choice of inverting Y as not an option, I am choosing not to play due to that. Sure its playable for you. Not for me. You try playing any game you choose with Y inverted axis and see how I feel.

That's right. Forgot about those, as well. Galactrix completely bombed due to the arrogance of D3. The Sam & Max stuff sort of doesn't count to me because they're bundles of five or six episodes/games.

So most of the few 1600 point games bombed with really only two exceptions (Penny Arcade Adventures Episode 1 and Minecraft). Eight games out of about 500 is still very small. It occasionally happened and most of them weren't worth it to the audience.

Was the first Zeno Clash ever one sale?

Remember looking forward to that when it went on sale but could never bring myself to pay full price on it. Still have it downloaded though.

Demoed Sine Mora today. Better than expected, as I prefer top down while this is a side scroller. The 3D probably makes my opinion bias though. Heard its incredibly hard, but it didn't seem too bad. Its more manageable than most of the bullet hell games I've played. I'm sure it gets harder though.
