At the bottom of this gray pop-up is the instruction to press the "X button" in order to change the payment type to MSP. Pictured below with an arrow:

The only thing "wrong" about normal or inverted are the people who think one method is correct and one is incorrect. They're both correct otherwise both wouldn't exist.

Plants vs Zombies - I'm not really into tower defense games, but this one was actually pretty fun....I bought the Android version for $1 to take on an upcoming trip.

From Dust - For a few less points I would have added this one to my backlog. The graphics, atmosphere, and game concept are really cool, but I didn't feel super comfortable with the controls, and I didn't find the experience any more enticing than the other games I own and have yet to play. I debated on this one quite a bit though.

P.S.....

Phantom Breaker - The combat moves seem deep and varied with lots of satisfying action, so this is on my buy-once-it's-on-sale list...even though the retro-sprites and cup tunes motif are not my cup of tea.
Except for the fact that games aren't real life and you're just moving a cursor, which is the case, and you don't invert your mouse controls do you?

Inverted is for piloting.
I do invert my mouse controls. :)

The Android version of PvZ has so little content in it compared to the console/PC versions. You don't get any of the bonus content beyond the campaign.
NBA Jam still gets update? I know i read a while back about an update, but im not sure if its still current, or if they have plans to update it later.
they added the key rookies from last season (it was released 2 seasons ago), and a few from this season (but they missed alot of big people this season, only added maybe a half a dozen rooks from this year). but a lot of people they missed initially are now in like lin and james harden, there's some obvious mistakes, but it has been slightly updated every 10 months or so.

So after last week's early update...maybe microsoft wants those of us waiting to finish our reward cards to panic and just buy something not on sale... :)
Personally I also think it looks really nice. Heck, I'd even go so far as to say it and Scott Pilgrim look better than a lot of AAA games. But I'm a fan of retro graphics, so of course I'm very biased;) on a side note, does PB have online?
Yeah, it's got 1-4 players for arcade and vs. in local and online (not mixed). It's a bit tricky to get more than one other player in via matchmaking, but I managed to get all the online achievements without fuss.
As someone who likes fighting games, but isn't very competitive at them, this is is the best combo of button mashing viability and rhythmic depth I've seen in a brawler.

I saw your other comment, and I'd totally be down for some Rock of Ages.

Agreed. This is a goofy dispute. At least it hasn't turned to flames, yet.

I almost wish they hadn't updated it. I used to love being Orlando so I could be Dwight and Shaq to block the shit outta people.

Disappointing that Blitz wont have RG3 and Luck but I'll be grabbing it anyway. Wonder why they would update NBA jam and not Blitz... I guess NBA Jam still has an active enough online community to justify the costs. Boo.
Anyone have any input on the Scott Pilgrim game?
Kind of wondering as well.

I plan on picking up Guardian Heroes, so not sure if I should pick up Scott Pilgrim too or not.

When people ask why I play FPS games inverted, I like to explain it like like this - imagine your head is the joystick and place your hand on top of your head. What happens when you press forward? You look down! And when you pull back your head, you look up! This framework has always just been in my mind so it's hard to get used to anything else.

That sounds right.

Regardless what does it matter. We dont get mad at when people are left handed versus the more common right handedness. Everyone is different.

ON topic about Xbox. Blood Dragon comes out this week right? :)

If so that will be my first arcade purchased for 2013.
I am done as well. I was going to wait until tomorrow and pickup X-men, but decided against it just in case something in their database goes haywire and it doesn't count it since it was bought on the last day. So I got my three 400 MSPs games to put me at 3320 MSPs. I picked up:

Polar Panic
Arkadian Warriors (Strictly for the cheevos. I am counting on you here Cleaner7 ;) )
Small Arms

And as a bonus, all of them are teeny tiny games that hardly up take any space on my HD. :)
You got it! We can start it since I 100% Poker Night 2 earlier and am on the last chapter for BBT campaign solo insane. I'm hoping to finish that in the morning then it's just a matter of playing lots of arena to gather gems. I have 44 triangle heads left x 25 gems per head so 1100 needed to finish that. Co-op campaign insane can wait.

The Portal 2 theme on PN2 is cool. I thought I'd heard all the dialogue but laughed hard at 2 conversations yesterday. Most of it is repeats though.

man, I really hope the sales go up tonight. I don't want to miss it by just a few hours:bomb:

Ooga, when you are done with that you should join cleaner7 and I for Castle Crashers. We need another player, if only so I don't bore cleaner to death;)

I'm ready for the next Rewards deal. Though I got to admit, I do like the Punch Card promotion. I Just wish it was a permanent part of XBox Rewards instead of a monthly thing since it got me (and I'm sure other CAG's) to actually buy XBLA games for *gasps* full price and is a much better incentive to spend then the pathetic 2% back.

Agreed.
Anyone have any input on the Scott Pilgrim game?
I played it quite a lot a few years ago, of you readily have a group of three or so other friends and the requisite amount of controllers, Scott Pilgrim is absolutely worth the price of admission. The sprite work and soundtrack are both really charming and the gameplay has a lot more depth and RPG elements than a lot of the other beat 'em up games on XBLA. It feels a lot like River City Ransom with more of a co-op more easygoing structure in place.

The game should run you about four or five hours in your first time through but it's entertaining enough, especially as a party game where you will likely want to beat it a couple of more times with the other characters.

I really enjoyed Scott Pilgrim, even playing by myself. There are permanent leveling mechanics that make the game more fun IMO, and even if you play a level and it's too hard to beat by yourself, at least you earned more experience and money to upgrade your character.

It helps to enjoy the license, but it's not essential. I really enjoyed the graphics and music as well.

so I'm guessing it's no good single player? I know I keep asking this, just wanted another opinion.
Anyone have any input on the Scott Pilgrim game?
I would recommend downloading the Trial Game (Demo). I have always loved the game and it feels very much like a spiritual successor to River City Ransom. Of course, how much you enjoy the game will have a lot to do with how you feel toward games like that (i.e. Double Dragon, Final Fight). I will say that I find Scott Pilgrim vs. the World more satisfying than most in the genre because of the game mechanics (there is a light RPG system where you can build your character up and learn new skills), the lovely pixel art by Paul Robertson, and the glorious chiptune rock soundtrack by Anamanaguchi.
Thanks for posting about Fusion: Genesis. I've forgotten the title even existed. As a huge Armada fan, I always get excited when someone mentions that Fusion looks reminiscent to Armada, but there doesn't seem to be even one person on the Internet who has played both and could make a direct comparison.
I tried replying earlier but we lost power so this has been delayed far longer than I meant it to be...

First, my thoughts on Armada may be a bit off, its been a long time since I played it and while I did play it I never finished it... (This isn't a shot at the game, truth be told before the addition of Achievements/Trophies I rarely finished (story mode) on games in general and during this era (on my own for the first time, decent paying job and with very few bills (I was in the US Navy, living on a ship even in port), so I had more money for gaming than time to do it.)

Anyhow, earlier today I played the demo for Fusion Genesis for 59 minutes (according to raptr), I don''t know how much longer the demo would have lasted as I had to get off... But let me say I thought I was close to the end, but it didn't end so I suspect I could have played for at least another hour without seeing the end... (Maybe indefinitely if I just wanted to run the more simple missions and/or mine asteroid.) My quick answer is that Fusion Genesis compares very favorably to my found memories of Armada... Read: East's review (link) and try the demo it just might be what you want.

My slight longer answer...

Fusion Genesis is a slower game that is far more complex... and its also a slower paced game as you have to get the parts and run missions to upgrade yourself (aka the pilot), your ship(s), your sentinels (on two different screens mind you) so, yeah, lots to be done. It didn't really bother me but like East says the menu screens are a bit rough... And really the games only weakness.

I don't really remember Armada having much of a story outside of the very opening so I would have to say F:G story is much more grander... and, at least so far, interesting enough.

I will say I think Armada had a great sense of exploration, they gave you so little to begin with and you just set off on your on course (I do think they gave you a couple of map markers to go to on a very blank map) while F:G gives you a map at the very beginning... Nothing seems to be really hidden, only to be discovered by random chance, but I wouldn't really consider this a negative... It still very neat to go to new areas but that, to me, seems to be due more to F:G's graphics than anything else. They are quite good with a nice complementary art style.

Anyhow, I bought the game this afternoon... Oh! One more thing, if you want to buy it after playing it for a bit just click exit to menu and it will prompt you to upgrade... (I looked and looked before trying this.)

Thanks, everybody! I went ahead and downloaded the demo of Scott Pilgim, and I really did have a blast with it. The music for some reason had me in joy. I definitely plan on picking it up!
I'll spare you the sarcasm since you're not dishing out too much snark, but asking or expecting me to retrain my brain and dismiss techniques developed over 20+ years of video game playing doesn't make a lot of sense, either. (Not 20+ years of third-person action adventure games, granted...) I really want to play and enjoy BG&E HD, but it's a strangely daunting task for me because of the inversion. And with my ridiculous backlog, it's not too high on my list of priorities - but perhaps I should bump it up.
Not to argue for argument sakes but in all honesty speaking as someone with a background in having studied neurology I'd actually guess that the process of retraining your brain would not only be easier than you anticipate, more than likely just take 20-30 minutes of gaming if not even less. A lot of studies with gaming have shown how quickly our brains are at adapting to new sets of rules in perception and motion.

And it's actually funny when you talk about neuroplasticity in terms of someone worrying that it would affect their ability to play games regularly online. I would suspect that it would actually improve your ability to play those other games online. it's sort of like learning a new language. if an English speaker learns Chinese it can actually end up improving their English speaking abilities. Furthermore once you've become a master at a skill and it's a skill you utilize quite often, the connections in your brain are already very set and it's hard to diminish them. So playing a game differently wouldn't diminish your abilities in other areas as long as you continued to play the other games as well. I would actually think it would improve them and your brain's overall health in general by creating and stimulating new connections. But anyways, just food for thought. But the brain is way more plastic than you would likely think. We always seem to have this thought that when we put something in our brain it means that something has to be thrown out to make room for it, that's absolutely not the case. You're not really dismissing anything you're just learning a new tool.

For the record I play both ways. I never think that things are wonky or whatnot. Takes me about a second or reorientate myself and I'm good to go, but that's usually with every game as the controls are different between shooters, action games, etc and I never look at the manual. You're stopping yourself playing a classic game, with probably the best female protagonist in the history of the medium, for the sake of probably 5 minutes of fumbling with things IMHO.
Speaking of priorities, I should get back to Zeno Clash. It's fun, but I seem to remember it becoming totally maddening a few hours in. I enjoy it enough that I'll pick up the sequel eventually, but NOT AT 20 BUCKS! I think we'll be seeing a sale or price cut on that before much time has passed.

The first (and maybe second) Penny Arcade games and both the Watchmen games debuted at 1600, FWIW. Apparently the first PA game was the third-best debut for an XBLA title at the time, too. The second game, not so hot...
Zeno Clash was great. Love the game. My only contention is that the achievements were tied to the arena which I felt was less interesting than the storyline, hence I never attained an achievement on that game despite playing it considerably, which I find odd. And because it was such a strange world opportunities were lost to make for more emergent gameplay from that achievement list. I'm looking forward to how the new Xbox works with achievements so that we can be challenged to play games differently. I think also that the Sam and Max seasons on XBLA are at a 1600 pts pricing. But I'm with you, I don't think I'll be buying the sequel for 1600pts, that probably has more to do with my backlog than anything (I literally just finished the first Bioshock game yesterday, that's how bad my backlog is).

What I actually hope is that we see less $40-60 disc based games that need not be disc-based like Zeno Clash and the upcoming Mars Logs (which looks very interesting and will likely I'm sure be 1600pts as well) and that Microsoft removes it's limit on XBLA game size (which I think is 2GB). Considering that retail games are not doing so hot right now it makes sense for the industry to adopt an online distribution approach. While it does mess up things for us used game lovers my hope is that the whole industry adopts a sort of approach like Steam with bundles and special pricing. The Twisted Pixel bundle is the perfect example of that. I hope Microsoft bundles more games like that together for $10 as it's great for everyone really.

The delay has brough me this close to just buying Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix. I'd written it off before, as I knew it was on the Capcom Digital Collection disc, but looking over it again, is there really anything worth paying the $8-$10 more than Puzzle Fighter by itself is?

because I'm lazy and didn't want to type the whole list;)

Regarding the buy 3200 points (800 x 4) in arcade games and get 800 points back in Rewards, do all games (not DLC) in the list of arcade games (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_Live_Arcade_games) count regardless of their point cost or only arcade games >= 400 points?

For instance, buying 600 + 600 + 480+ 480 + 480 + 400 + 320 = 3360 points would work? The reason I worry is it has been a few days and I haven't seen my final punchcards get filled in.

Thing is, I've already tried playing BG&E and I don't find the lack of inversion quite as simple to grasp as you suggest - and it probably doesn't help that I tend to pour a few hours into a game and shift to something else rather than dedicating myself until I'm done - but just for the sake of proving something to myself, I will attempt it again soon.

So I've been playing Hell Yeah! for the last few hours. Apparently controls were a point of contention among most critics. I don't get that... it's a little slippery, but not bad by any means. I've played games with much shittier controls (SMALL ARMS.) that weren't widely panned for how they handled. Anyway, fun game. Too bad I didn't throw in my two cents while it was actually on sale, right? But this is a Sega game...

it should, the punchcards are just super slow (mine took about 3-5 days, more toward the latter)

I actually prefered single player. Multiplayer felt a little too cluttered for my liking but that's just me.

It's an easy buy at 320msp, dont even waste your energy trying to talk yourself out of it. I bought it at 400 and thought it was a bargain (and I seem to be a lot cheaper than most here.)

Excellently said. It always makes me sad when people decide not to try new things or games that are a bit out of their comfort zones instead of just diving in and adapting to it. I'm sure some people really have less of an innate ability to adapt than others, but I doubt anyone truly can't handle a simple change in control scheme like that. It's a matter of will.

Well I got Puzzle Fighter. I just have a feeling that the new sales are going to go up as soon as the promo ends, so it was worth the peace of mind if nothing else. So my haul for April's Punchards:

Castle Crashers - 800
Dust: An Elysian Tale - 600
Mark of the Ninja - 600
ilomilo - 400
Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 - 200
Rock of Ages - 320
Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix - 320

Total=3240MSP

I get the feeling it's going to be super close as well. 4PM GMT is about 8 hours away. Think I'll just set my alarm and buy one of the other ancient wish list games if it hasn't changed by 8AM pacific.
So my haul for April's Punchards:
I finished early too... Mostly because I figured that Quantum Conundrum would have far more long term value than The Simpsons.

Quantum Conundrum - 480
From Dust - 480
Plants Vs Zombies - 600
Bionic Commando 2 - 480
“STX” Special Forces: Team X - 800
Fusion: Genesis - 800

Total=3640MSP

So I think I did good... My only possible mistake was not getting Fusion: Genesis when it was on sale back in January... but I found it now so I'm happy. :)

My April's:

Mercury Hg: 200
Marvel vs Capcom Origins & 2: 1200
Bionic Commando Rearmed: 320
Black Knight Sword: 400
Geometry Wars 2: 200
Skullgirls: 1200

Total: 3520

I was waiting for a reward like this one to get either Skullgirls or Double Dragon Neon.
So my haul for April's Punchards:
Here's mine:

Guardian Heroes - 400
Retro City Rampage - 600
Swarm - 200
Quarrel - 200
Mercury HG - 200
I am Alive - 480
Black Knight Sword - 400
Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 - 200
Quantum Conundrum - 480
Adventures of Shuggy - 400

Total=3560MSP

Due to the silly pricing I wound up 80 pts short of the 3200 mark and ended up buying Adventures of Shuggy, mostly due to the fact that it's like 80mb and you know what just played 2 hours of it and it's awesome so thanks to whomever it was that recommended it. It was a tough call between that and Aces of the Galaxy, which I find looks bloody amazing for a game that's just 50mb. It also has a sort of level choice like Starfox that I appreciated but I got the sense that I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as Shuggy - still it's on my radar next time there is a sale like this. Can I for the record say that Shuggy is worth it for the music played in the boiler room areas alone - I love that sort of western music, it's awesome.

The only surprise for me is that I didn't buy Amy. I was so close so many times. I'm curious just how bad a game it is post-update.

Here's hoping there's some good sales in the next month to spend our 800pts on. Nothing for me this coming week. Been thinking about NBA Jam but I might hold off on that.

X-Men is enjoyable, but I think most of us picked it up for 200pts a few Xmas' back which is probably what price it belongs at. Hopefully the sale means that there will be plenty of people back online as I need to pick up an achievement for beating the game with 6 players.

I have some nostalgia for the Simpsons game, but I'm waiting for it to hit even lower at this point.

I grabbed Scott Pilgrim years ago but it's a good purchase for those who like a beat-em up and the comic book franchise. If you don't have that for 320pts it's a steal and you might have 320pts lying around now after all these sales for games at 480pts price point.

Same with Castlevania - though I own if off the disc.

So it looks like star wars pinball fx2 went on 50%. That wasn't listed....
Time to buy the rest of my arcade games quick before the promo ends.

Picked Up

Retro City Rampage - 600
Marvel Origins - 600
Counterstrike: GO - 600
I am Alive - 480
Tower of Babel - 320
Quantum Conundrum - 480
D&D Daggerdale - 320

Total - 3400

It was a good deal, I'd have probably bought most of these anyway

Anyone know if they ever patched Dungeons & Dragon Daggerdale to fix all the glaring bugs? Seems that was the main complaint about the game, besides it's relatively short length.

They did quietly patch it, but I never found a full list of what got fixed online.

They had at least a 1.1 patch that, according to them took care of 80 bugs... I don't own it, so I cannot give any first hand accounts.

Ooga, when you are done with that you should join cleaner7 and I for Castle Crashers. We need another player, if only so I don't bore cleaner to death;)
My time is sorta limited because of my slave-driver of a boss (a 2 year-old). He likes to sit in my lap and press the buttons. We can probably do it over the weekend or late in the evening. Since both of you are on my friend list you'll know when I'm on :)

Just be aware that the Star Wars Pinball does not count towards any of the promos for the punchcards as it is considered DLC. So if you are hoping for it to count towards the 4 purchases of 400pts or the 3200pts overall you're shit out of luck sadly.

By the way, I hope when May 21st comes along that Microsoft will inform us that they are not actually ever coming out with a new console but have instead hooked up with Lego to offer us this, the future of videogaming my friends:

My only problem is I'd need one that rivals the Burj Khalifa for height considering my backlog.

well now I'm wondering if I should wait a few days to see if there is a May punchcard before buying pac man (and maybe Scott Pilgrim). Does anyone have any thoughts on if there is, if it would be up before this ends? I can't remember how far into april it took to get the punchards.
