Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

On topic: I'm home sick in bed and wanted to shoot things, finally fired up the MCC. Enjoying the original Halo far more than I ever did way back when, the visual upgrades and smoother gameplay really do make a difference.

And they're not even making good use of those IPs now. You could at least count on playing really good "Nintendo" games on their consoles even if no one else was making anything for them but the last couple years it's been a lot of rehases and ports and recycled stuff and an overall level of mediocre to bad. You just didn't see that from their own games and their big name franchises until the last two or three years.
Yeah, they've been playing it safe since they don't have mountains of revenue rolling in every month, so less creative ventures or chances. I disagree their games have been mediocre, especially on 3DS, but they have been fewer and farther between. Still get tons of enjoyment out of their platforms but I also wish they would do so many things a lot differently.

Man SonyGaf is hilarious. The idiotic complaints coming from there are simply amazing. Microsoft just shit all over them. Great idea, look forward to this coming out.
Yeah the announcement really weeded out Sonygaf. As much as I love visiting that site for news I am kinda glad I'm not registering to post there anymore with the way the community is there. Lots of Sony Fanboys getting the pass and you have people like ethomaz (spelling) who got like a few day ban despite his obvious bias. Plenty others as well.

I for one am excited about the Game Pass because if I am having financial issues I can just put aside $120 a year for a large library of games.

The only thing that worries me is the GWG quality will probably get even worst. But that's more of a hunch rather then pulling proof out of my ass. I hope I'm wrong.

Nintendo, (at least in regards to the way they handle their home consoles. Handhelds are a different story altogether); is like Lucy with the football, and some people just keep running at it like Charlie Brown.

Nintendo: "Please understand, it'll be different this time. We've got third party support".

Gamers: "You guys bank on gimmicks, to try to compensate for your lack of a console on par with the competition's offerings. Then the third parties always leave when you guys are a pain to develop for, due to your inability to make a standard console with specs similar to the other consoles out there"

Nintendo: "Look over here, its Zelda, and it's portable AND plays on your TV".

Gamers: "What are the specs?"

Nintendo: "We'll talk about that later. Look, we have Skyrim, and it's PORTABLE."

Gamers: "Isn't that the older, unimproved version of Skyrim?"

Nintendo: "We'll talk about that later. Look, you can take the controllers off of the console and it's portable".

Gamers: "Those controllers look awfully small, and expensive. What's this greatness going to cost me?"

Nintendo: "It's $300. But look, we have a Mario game."

Gamers: "$300?! I can get a console bundle with a couple of games and two controllers right now from MS or Sony, with an established library, for $250-300. Also, about those specs?"

Nintendo: "Well, we have extremely popular first party titles that are exclusive to our console."

Gamers: "Yeah, and that's exactly why people outside of that particular niche crowd ignore your consoles. If you'd just go to mobile, or develop for other consoles, you guys would literally have a goldmine. Those specs already, guys?"

Nintendo: "Over our dead body. We'll give you a geotagging game with a Pokémon license attached, an obscure Fire Emblem game, and dangle you along with an Animal Crossing game, which we've shared no details about other than we're going to delay it indefinitely. Oh, and the specs aren't important. It's about what you'd expect from us, slightly on par with the Xbox".

Gamers: "Wait. Slightly on par with the Xbox? The Xbox One? Wow."

Nintendo: "Ahem... the Xbox 360."

Gamers: "So let me get this straight: you guys are putting out a hybrid gaming console with little to no details given until less than two months before release, with a Zelda game that is also available on the Wii U, that's overpriced, and has the power of Microsoft's console from 12 years ago? And you're charging $300 for it? Tell me it's at least going to have a big hard drive, and you'll be outdoing the competition with a completely revamped and completely free-to-play online matchmaking system?"

Nintendo: "Um, it'll have a 32GB SD card, and we're charging a fee for online"

Gamers: "32GB?! In 2017?! Lemme guess, we can expand that at our own expense, right? Can't be much more than a couple hundred bucks for 256GB of SD memory. So, the game sizes are going to be small, and you're offering optical discs as an option for those staying physical?"

Nintendo: "One of our launch games exceeds the 32GB card, and you'll have to buy another larger card to install digitally. But, you'll be pleasantly surprised and hit with nostalgia at the same time, if you want to stay physical: we're going old school, and back to cartridges."

Gamers: "You've got to be f@cking kidding me..."

Nintendo: "Zelda... Portable..."

What is your source on this? Last year the ID@Xbox sale was the entire month of May.
Since my homepage is STILL showing that stupid rocketdactyl avatar prop ad instead of the sale section I went to the marketplace. In the games section there was an ad for id@xbox gamefest or whatever they call it. Clicked on it and it had all the id@xbox games on sale this week with the title "week one." Thought it was weird since major nelson just has them listed as a spotlight sale.

Hard to say if this would affect GWG negatively. I anything, I'd think they may offer the publishers more money when something is GWG to also add it to Game Pass immediately or eventually.

I'm curious what the rate of turnover is going to be on Game Pass. I'd imagine games are locked in on a contractual basis of at least so many months, though could also see MS letting them do limited time additions for a short period too. I don't think we'll know until stuff actually drops out which could be a while. With Netflix, there is a pretty constant stream of additions and losses at the beginning of every month, but I also think this is affected by Netflix choosing to drop stuff that isn't watched much on top of their contracts running out.

I'd be interested in how this plan came about. It does seem kind of convenient that it's coming when there has been a decent amount of negativity lately due to game cancellations and the low number of exclusives for 2017 compared to PS4.

Is there a time limit on the SP trail for BF1?

Also, Avatar...? I don't know why that film got so much attention, it was really forgettable.
Now that I've got caught up on the thread, I had to answer this one first lol. 3D, James Cameron loves TECHNOLOGY and it was his own "Reality Camera System" which brought 3D to the masses (I had gone with a film degree when I went to UB). Aside from 3D, the movie was heavily marketed for IMAX and people were introduced to a new world with crisp vivid detail, with fauna and creatures created from scratch. Cameron also pioneered the translation of actor's performances to their digital CGI body doubles, using his own techniques of motion capture, most evident with Zoe Saldana's expressive character.

Gotta say I think that Game Pass is an awesome deal but like others here on CAG said I've got all those games already lol. I will be subscribing to EA Access next month, to take advantage of that ME:A early trial acess, so yeah I guess I'm paying $5 to play a demo. Haha

The Division having a try it before you buy is pretty cool but I still don't understand ok you're gonna play until level 6 but you have to download the ENTIRE damn game. sheesh, it's in my queue.

I think it was Bobby that posted about Kilgore being the current free rotating character. Thank you!
You'd be correct. You're welcome.

I agree, he's fun to play. But I was adamantly against his price and I'm glad he'll be back to reasonable levels somewhat soon.

At the very least, I got a lot of free play out of him this week.

Today's the last day to use him, new rotating character tomorrow.

Well I got a $5 GC from MS this morning. Unfortunately it was only one GC and I bought both movies at the same time. Guess I should give it give 7 day window before complaining.
This is exactly what I was worried about. I knew the "$5 for EVERY movie" was too good to be true.

Luckily, I just bought Whiplash, so I've got nothing to worry about.

Here's a complete list.

A Kingdom for Kefling - Own
Banjo-Kazooie - Own
Comic Jumper - Own
Dark Void - Own
Defense Grid 2 - Own through GWG
GOW: Judgment - Own
GOW: Ultimate Edition - Own
Halo: Spartan Assault - Own through GWG
Hexic 2 - Don't own
Jetpac Refuelled - Own via Rare Replay
Kameo - Own via Rare Replay
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood - Own through GWG
Me. Splosion Man - Own
OF: Dragon Rising - Own
Perfect Dark Zero - Own
Sacred 3 - Own
Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space - Own
Sunset Overdrive - Own
The Maw - Own
Viva Pinata - Own via Rare Replay

And I REALLY like the memberships area in my games and apps.
So the only game out of the ENTIRE service I don't own in some manner is Hexic 2?

Good. Had a bad experience at a GS today because of an overzealous manager. fuck 'em. :bouncy:

Only thing scary so far is the spastic frame rate and that it's more of a walking simulator.

#RemakeDeadSpace
I replayed Dead Space over holidays, it doesn't need a remake, it's just as good as it was ~10 years ago. All I really want is DS2 on BC, but would take another entry in the series if it kept the spirit of the original and didn't try to be an action game.

Is there a time limit on the SP trail for BF1?
With EA Access they only gave the first chapter on the campaign. Honestly though I thought it was pretty boring and was happy it was over. Didn't really care for it. Thought BF3, BF4 and Hardline were all better single player experiences IMO. Would/will give it a second chance maybe when it hits the vault. Thought it was an interesting idea for a setting just seemed like something was off or something. Not sure what it was. I do remember being a bit lost trying to find the objective a few times. IDK.

Awesome. Only thing that bothers me is Danny McBride. Something about his presence already cheapens the film.
Yeah, I can see where you're coming from. He was hilarious in Vice Principals and Eastbound & Down though. Maybe he'll surprise us. :D

Just noticed this talk about the Battlefield 1 trial.  I was looking into what was available and the impression I get is that XB1 players will get access to everything for the whole weekend.

Relevant text from BF's website (emphasis is mine) regarding the Xbox free trial:

You’ll be able to deploy at 9AM PT, March 3 through 11:59PM PT, March 5. During this time, you’ll get to play the full Battlefield 1 with its intense multiplayer matches and gripping single player War Stories.

Then down below on that same page, it talks about the PC free trial and specifically states:

You’ll get 10 hours of play time with 4 multiplayer modes on 5 maps. You can also play the first two War Stories of the game’s acclaimed single player.

The fact that they specifically limited what was available on PC leads me to believe the console trial is completely open.  We can play as much of the single player or multiplayer as we want.

Looking at guides online, looks like single player should take ~10 hours so we definitely should be able to complete it and delve into multiplayer.

I stand correct. As per Kotaku:

"Players will have access to all games on the pass as long as they remain in the library and the player remains subscribed. Should the player unsubscribe or a game leave the library, the games will be removed, but the save data from those games will be saved should the player restart the sub or purchase the game."

Still not a bad deal imo
looks like an awesome deal. I don't know that I would stay signed up every month (unless there is a discount for a year or something like that) but if you see only one game you want to play $10 in a month is great. For me, I've been wanting to play Gears Ultimate for the campaign so that would cost me at least $10 digital or for a cheap used copy.not to mention I would only ever play through it once. At least with this I could maybe try a few other games every now and then.

Nintendo in a nutshell. I don't have the perfect family with the wonderful SO, beautiful children and pristine house in the burbs to pass my former consoles on down to the kids so they appreciate previous gens. This is is real life & businesses(Sony, MS, Nintendo, etc) gotta show me their hands in order to convince me bout my future investments.

All on board with BC train and playing X1, 360 and certain to be OG Xbox games on the Scorpio. fuck Nintendo & their mentality of making the consumer pay over and over again for their 30 year old titles. Rare Replay shoved it up their arse 20X over / end rant

Glad to snag Star Wars Force Unleashed and Borderlands 2. Hell of a day

As someone who doesn't have a X1 (yet), this seems like a great deal. I can go out and play the games on the service, some I may never have played, without having to buy them individually. I just hope it comes with a physical card as well, a la Xbox Live Gold or we see bundles for Xbox Game Pass + Gold at a lower cost.

Time to grab Borderlands 2 and sell my disc :D/

As long as he takes the movie seriously and doesn't sling imaginary jizz around everywhere we should be fine.

Is this going to be a new trend where a game within an RPG is going to be popular/decent enough to warrant it's own release?
The game was already a standalone release, but only to people that pre-ordered FFXV at GameStop. And of course since the game's title starts with the word 'A', it is very near the top of my list of games where it doesn't belong.

Hey, if the Game Pass can accelerate the demise of GameStop, that alone would be a success in my book.
Yeah that's what we need. More unemployed people and one less place to get all things gaming related. 🙄

I read some of you guys' posts and I realize that many of you haven't lived enough of life to know much about anything.

I hear about shutting down GameStop or Xbox Game subscription should be Free, or negative comparisons to some old Sega or another ancient gaming subscription plan.

People build their lives with the work they put in at these stores or at these server farms and everything in between that bring us the products and services we enjoy.

Wishing something was shut down or that no costs was associated with it leads to the destruction of the free market economy we live in.

Y'all mofos better get that kinda thinking out of your heads. The facts are we are talking about Video Games and to devalue the people and the labor that goes into providing this luxury that we call a hobby or lifestyle drives me nuts.

There is no such thing as a Free Lunch. Someone grinded for that and allowed you to experience it. You see the wages that people are getting paid nowadays for the amount of work they put in? That can be you or your kids if you continue to push your privledged agenda on the economy.

I know I'm going way off on a tangent but posts like yours and others that I've already read since the announcement of Microsoft's Game Pass just gets at me. Especially when I personally play a role in helping to build the communications grid we take for granted every single minute of our lives.

TL:DR, I hope this is a success and I hope that GameStop adapts as necessary to thrive within this new gaming reality. I certainly don't want anyone to lose their livelihood and I'm willing to pay a fair price for a quality American made and American maintained product.

Question - Having never tried a Dragon Age game, would you grab Origins, or skip it at this point and grab Inquisition? Or, I guess I should also ask if you'd just snag em both?
