Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Gamestop won't get any better and instead has proven to continue being terrible at the expense of customers and their work force. No, they can go fuck themselves or hopefully lose enough business to the point where they can improve, but by now it seems doubtful. So no, fuck em.

Question - Having never tried a Dragon Age game, would you grab Origins, or skip it at this point and grab Inquisition? Or, I guess I should also ask if you'd just snag em both?
I started with Inquisition, liked it a lot, and got distracted on another (many) games. Have yet to finish it, but it is good. Didn't feel like I was missing something, but others who have played ALL of them might know better.

both great games but inquisition is so much better by todays standards. its really good. you can play it without playing origins the stories arent related.

so fellow CAGs, help me choose a game to 100% this month:

The Division (w/ all DLC)

or

Battleborn (Deluxe Edition)

first game to 5 votes wins
What are your other options?

I played the Division at launch and had 980/1000. It's not something you want to play by yourself (and in some situations, it's quite difficult alone) and there are a TON of collectibles.

I have not yet played (but did purchase) Battleborn. Not sure how easy/hard it is to 100%.

Maybe pick a Telltale game? :)

Fallout Shelter is decent, that's free and I'd recommend it over The Division.

February backlog update...only finished a paltry four games:
Knee Deep
Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China
Wheels of Aurelia
Energy Cycle (lol)

I did get 1000/1000 on all four, but then again that's not a huge accomplishment in the case of three out of the four for sure.

Lengthy, self-important rant.
You know what always gets your point across? Starting off right away with an insult.

Wishing that a business with an adversarial business model toward its own customers would close down isn't the same as wishing for the destruction for the free market. If anything, what people are describing is the very essence of the free market. If a service steps in and can replace Gamestop, Gamestop won't be able to hold its own, won't serve a purpose, and therefore it shouldn't exist. That's as free market as it gets.

And who in the blue hell is complaining that Game Pass should be free?

Question - Having never tried a Dragon Age game, would you grab Origins, or skip it at this point and grab Inquisition? Or, I guess I should also ask if you'd just snag em both?
Man...that's tough. They're both good. Origins hasn't aged so well in some ways, but I think it's still a quality game, particularly if you haven't played Inquisition. I think the narrative is a little tighter, too. The huge open world in Inquisition was a bit too much for me, honestly. I got caught up in trying to do all the little filler crap and got burned out on the game in the process and finally just had to stick to the main story and finish it. Haven't been back to do the DLC that I already bought yet.

I'm trying to dig some of the bigger (content-wise) games out of my backlog, I waited for all the content to be released for The Division and Battleborn before I started them up. I suppose I should go with the game that's most likely to have a lower population within a month or two....which would probably be Battleborn, right? The Division is pretty active from what I can tell.

whatever the pick is, it has to be done by the 21st. Once Mass Effect drops, everything else gets put on the backburner.

New XBL Rewards missions.  There's one for getting $6 back for spending at least $60 total during March, but you must "activate" the offer by clicking on the link on the page.  Also a "warrior" themed set of missions for the month.  Survey this month for me was about their Beam live streaming service.

Also, when I logged in to the MS (Bing) Rewards, there was a "hidden gift" of 25 points waiting.  Others might have a better one.

Probably in the minority but I personally prefer Origins over Inquisition. The story was better and I actually prefer the combat as well. Suppose Inquisition is more strategic but it just didn't click with me.

Nice find. I was looking at stuff for dark souls, and their prices are ridiculous. Hopefully they have a sale on it before the month is up.

So Gems of War must have added some new achievements.  I am sitting here watching Netflix and two rare achievements pop that I have no clue what game they are for. I have not played the game for months so it is weird they would pop without starting up the game.

It appears that you can double up with the warrior promo and the $6 back one. The first stage for the Warrior one is spend $60.

im voting battleborn because i dont think you can. those achievements are a pita. although they did make them easier not too long ago.

I'm voting battleborn also. Neither the division nor battleborn are quick 1000g and will require the aid of people online. The divisions achievements are pretty straight foward. Just get ready for a ton of collectibles. BB have not played much but heard it can be more difficult.

The division is a post apocalyptic cover shooter. BB is a cartoony actiony fps. One word to describe the game is FUN. If you played overwatch then you know what to expect and personally I prefer BB to overwatch. I honestly have no idea why the game got so many negative reviews. Perhaps a bit overpriced at launch but the game cones with a full fledged single player campaign.

Ps I am refering to the base game without dlc. Have not touched dlc on either. Last dlc for the division ironically called last stand just dropped today.

I much preferred Origins because its setting is darker, bleaker than in Inquisition. I also preferred the companions in Origins.

Inquisition was more high fantasy than the Tolkien-inspired Origins.

Graphics and mechanics of Inquisition significantly outclass Origins, though.

Thanks for posting. You both beat me to it.

I was trying to double up with the spend $100 in February and the Anime Rewards, but none of the other eligible games I wanted went on sale this week (Yu-Gi-Oh, Bayonetta, Persona Arena Ultimax). :wall:

But yeah, you have to actually log into your rewards and click Activate for the March one. I really hope they don't make that a trend.

I doubt i'll be able to fulfill the Medieval one. $60 is steep, and I already own the Gold Edition of For Honour and several other eligible games.

Here's the list of eligible titles for the lazy, not a terrible list. I bolded what's on sale this week. Expect most of these to go on sale this month.

For Honor, Lords of the Fallen, DARK SOULS™ III, DARK SOULS™ II: Scholar of the First Sin, DARK SOULS™ II, The Technomancer, Shadow Warrior, Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, Warhammer® 40,000®: Space Marine®, Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ - Game of the Year Edition, Dragon Age™: Inquisition, Dragon Age™: Origins, Dragon Age™ 2, Game of Thrones - The Complete First Season (Episodes 1-6), The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition, Divinity II – DKS, The Banner Saga, The Banner Saga 2, The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, Oblivion, Skyrim, Sword Coast Legends™, Sacred 3, Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires, BLADESTORM: Nightmare, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare

Edit - has anyone got the email with the 500 points on Bing rewards for the my story thing?I click it but it doesn't add them.

Same, I click on the 500 points but it doesn't add up. SMH.

Did not know achievements pop up for games that you are not playing at that time.

Just checked Xbox Rewards and for myvip my stars are under construction, looks like the site added up my purchases properly.

Yes I went to play tonight and had over a GB update for it. After I got in I read the notes and they did add 10 achievements, threw in some cool event stuff and I grinded a few challenges that had Mechs, this week's thing, and was able to open a ton of new shit with the rewards. Lol looks like everybody gets a card name Mongo, his skill is a random whatever. I didn't use him but I thought that was funny. If you're interested our Guild could use some more people or I'd be down joining a CAG one if it exists. Pleasantly surprised the free update and now so 10 new achievements that go along with it. They also gives a buck of bugs and bright the console version up to their mobile version.

As someone who gamed offline mostly before yeah, the Xbox One saves the achievement until you go online and upload it to their Azure servers. Most likely the achievement was borked before the update perhaps? I was able to unlock the Hordemaster achievo with the rewards I obtained from this week's event!

The achievements were added in the latest update. They unlocked for me while I was playing Madden

But seriously, you better play The Witness. I feel like I'm still far from finishing it but I love it even when I turn it off too mad because I can't finish a puzzle.

Well, March already, and I only had mixed success with my February gaming goals.  While I had wanted to play some juicy, high-fun-factor games, I was strangely drawn to a few more quick wins as well, even if the games were lesser 'quality' or aimed at kids.  I think part of it has to do with the mindless nature of those games: I can come home from work and plow through one with a minimum of effort.  On the other hand, I didn't enjoy a couple of the AAA games as much as I thought I would, namely:

- WatchDogs 2: got a start on this but have much yet to do; better gameplay than the first but isn't grabbing me really.

- Rise of the Tomb Raider (X1): graphics are great; a metric tonne of extra things to do if one wanted; only about 25% complete

Completed:

- Phineas and Ferb: Quest for Cool Stuff

- Shrek: Forever After

- Ben 10: Vilgax Attacks

- Smurfs 2

With Disney Infinity shutting off its servers imminently, I'm diving into those games for the next couple days to get the online stuff completed.  Never even touched my intended Mass Effect 3 Insanity playthrough, so that's still on the list for March.  I also need to get back into my real life fitness routine, as all this gaming is starting to have an impact of a different kind!

Thanks Bloomy! I signed up for XBL rewards only a little over a week ago and I already got back about five dollars and change in credit. Feels good..

Last month I finished
Xcom 2
For Honor
Halo Wars 2
Dead Effect 2

Well off my pace of 8-9 a month I'm shooting for, but hopefully I can make up for it this month.

Also started Horizon on PS4 last night. Really good game so far, and it looks spectacular

The only game I've finished the past two months is Quantum Break. Fun game with an amazing story and gorgeous graphics but a frustrating as Hell ending boss fight. Still totally worth a playthrough, no doubt.

Started Titanfall 2 last night. I didn't play the first very much at all so I was a little worried about heading into the sequel, but it does a really good job of making you feel like a badass pilot. Plus the weapons are extremely satisfying, especially the Hemlock. I actually enjoy the onfoot sections more than the titan sections. Should get the campaign done in... *looks at watch* Two months from now.

Yeah my February was mixed as well. I didn't gain as much gamerscore as I was aiming to, because I spent a lot of time last month on :ps4: Tales of Berseria and :pc: Final Fantasy XIV. I did succeed in keeping my achievement streak alive with Telltale games, and I'm well on my way to the 1370/1370 in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. My goal for March (when I'm not playing Mass Effect) is to complete that game as well as Lego Batman 3 which has been hounding me for a while now. Maybe sneak some other quick, easy thousands in there as well. I did just start :ps4: Horizon Zero Dawn though...

Yay!  Won second prize from that contest where you watch Hidden Valley videos found on the Xbox dash ad section.  I think I remember doing this before the SuperBowl.   It's just $5 but it all adds up including all these $5 Bing rewards I've been banking.  I'm not sure what to buy though ha.

They are a huge part of the game. Was able to get the original 1k somewhat quickly thanks to the one I was in.
Yeah, I was working toward the original 1K in Gems of War, but got burned out with just the level 100 achievement left. I was gaining about a level per hour, but IIRC had about 12 to go and just said eff it. Now I'm kind of glad I did since they're apparently going to continue adding more to the game. It was a fun enough game; I'm just not really interested anymore.

Same here. Loved the game to the point where I kept going for 15ish levels after 100%ing the achievements because it was a blast to play. Even with the announcement of the new updates/achievements, I can't really get myself interested in going back.

Seems like the only gaming I can get myself into nowadays is Halo 5 and FIFA sporadically. Poor neglected backlog.

I finally bit the bullet and am transferring as many saves as I can of my nearly 400 played games to the cloud so I can pack up my barely living 360 and clean up the TV area. This is a huge pain in the ass, I really wish there was a way to mass transfer everything. The cloud system doesn't seem to like mass copying of big saves like Fallout ends up having. I think it also stops when trying to copy an entire game folder if a save from a different profile is there.

It looks like the only game I actually finished for the month was Final Fantasy XV. There are a lot of problems I had with the story in the latter part of the game, but it's worth playing. I mostly wanted to wrap it up before Zelda this Friday, as I know I'll probably move from that right into Andromeda, and I have like 4 other RPGs in the immediate backlog.

Oh the memories of backing up all of my 360 saves before selling it a few months ago. Sounds like XV is similar to XIII in respect to story. I remember not really knowing what the hell was going on in the story, not being crazy about the combat system, and having several other minor complaints yet largely enjoying my time with the game. FF games are weird like that for me.

I wouldn't quite compare it to XIII. XIII's story had a lot of unique terms used that make stuff seem complex for a while, but in the end it was fairly simple, partially due to the hallway simulator aspect it had.

I won't get into spoilers but the last fourth or third or so of XV just kind of felt unfinished, with a lot of very underutilized locations. And one of the big events at the end really isn't explained at all. It really felt like the end of Lightning Returns, a very pretty cinematic without much context for what was actually going on. Another major issue for me was how important all the factions and side characters seem, while not really being laid out well enough to get a strong grasp. Maybe you get more info if you do more side missions, but I didn't really get that impression. Having watched Brotherhood and Kingsglaive, I think the movie is basically necessary to give you any kind of grasp of the world and factions, while Brotherhood is necessary to give you an actual introduction to the party.

I think all the development issues and restarts had a pretty major impact on the game. It doesn't feel as fractured as Phantom Pain, but I feel like a similar portion of content is missing. The fact that they announced they'll be adding cutscenes and the like to one of the late chapters seems to indicate this is accurate to some degree.

If you want good backstory into Inquisition and have some time to go through DA: O + Awakenings as well as DA2, it's worth it, as I think the story is great in both of the earlier games. DA: O and Awakenings play like Mass Effect 1 in a number of ways, which will be different than DA2 or DA: I.

I played all of them in order, loved them all. If you do DA: I only, look into Dragon Age Keep, which will give you some backstory as it allows you to craft a world state that sets the stage for DA: I.
