Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Yeah no, 2nd is 2nd. Nintendo was the loser with the Wii U, so much so that they hurried out the Switch.
I was referring to how most discussions are when discussing console sales, at least in other circles of the Internet. The trollfests where if you're not first, you may as well be last.

and then end up buying the same game for a deeper discount later...buy it now, we can all cry buckets of tears together.
Unless it's a 360 game that goes BC. Then it will never be that cheap again.

My god, could you imagine if BO2 had gone BC next week after the sale ended? I don't think the amount of salt in the Pacific Ocean would match up.

Seen people asking about Lego Worlds Coop,if I were you I'd skip if that's what you're looking for.

Me and my friend tried playing and its fine for around 5 minutes then you get extreme lag and the game crashes, tried numerous times and the same thing happened so I Google's it and its happening to everybody.

Also theres a chance your single player progress can get reset after joining a coop game but I was so pissed about the lag and crashing I haven't gotten back on to see if it got reset.

I still don't understand why they want us to register on the website for these Gears events. It would be a lot more intuitive to just do it in game.

Have to wonder when they brainstormed these kinds of events. Would be nice if they had put an event tab in the War Journal to track the stuff we need to do. One of the devs said they're trying to come up with something for the web site, but in-game would be better, and if they had thought events like these through before release, it could've been included then. The Epic devs said changing the menus in Gears 3 was tough to do post release, you'd think lessons would be learned and passed along to make things more extensible for future releases.

I ended up buying a lot more than I anticipated.  I ended up picking up:

Escapists: Walking Dead (weekly sale)

How to Survive 2

Kill the Bad Guy

Payday 2: The Big Score Bundle

Prison Architect (literally had the trial downloaded since it came out and finally tried it since it was on sale and figured I'd get $12 worth out of it)

Rise & Shine (someone in here made a post about it and so I watched some clips and thought it looked like fun. I'm a sucker for side-scrolling shooters)

Still debating on a few...

Deadlight (I have the 360 version already)

Black Ops 2 (Debating if I should go digital since I know I'll play it a good amount)

State of Decay (to go digital or not)

GTA V (digital or not)

^ I'd buy black ops 2 because that shit is not gonna get any cheaper post bc and might not drop for some time with all the interest

gta v: no reason to buy unless you want it now, on sale all the time and maybe it'll go lower but even if it doesn't you'll get more chances

Damn, you purchased Payday 2?? Im sorry to hear that

See I already have BO2, it's just a matter of whether or not I want to go Digital and save myself from having to place the disc in all the time.

GTA V is kind of the same boat. Convenience of having to swap discs. Granted, I think I'll hold off since the value to trade it in isn't that great... Usually I only go digital if the game I have will trade in for the same price to go digital or within a few bucks.

Debating on Prison Architect, Just Cause 3 XL and the Storm 4 Season Pass. Are any of them worth it?
There is a trial for Prison Architect. I personally like it, but then again I work in that type of environment, so it is kind of an interest.

As for Just Cause 3 XL. If it's a game that you think you will play and/or liked the previous games, GET IT! I didn't play the first two a lot, but enjoyed what I did play. JC3 is amazing. The DLC is definitely worth it to. The Jet Pack wingsuit makes it so much easier and faster to get around. If I didn't have the Steelbook, I'd probably be trading it in and upgrading to digital.

Anyone catching an insane amount of lag on their X1 tonight?
Came home from work and wanted to play a bit of FH3. 1.4GB update. After a few mins it never moved off 0 bytes. Rebooted and it started to download slowly. Then started to download at a decent speed. By then I gave up caring and started watching Youtube. Maybe tomorrow.

lol my thoughts too but I wasn't gonna say anything
Eh... I got people to play with, and if I end up hating it.. Oh well, only $16.

EDIT: That is if I ever play it lol. You know backlog problems. Granted I have made progress in the backlog over the past year and a half thanks to my work schedule.

JC3 is fun if you don't mind lag and slow load times. I really enjoyed it on PS4 but those issues really ruined it for me. I ended up finishing the game and trading it. Everytime it goes on sale on Live or PSN I consider it and then decide against it. I am sure some day I will cave and buy it again. Probably never play it though.

in the same boat

own bop2 on ps3 and gtav on 360 both physical

went digital on bop2 and will hold off on gta v because there really is no reason to pull the trigger at the price while it's a game that will often go on sale

but with all that being said, splurge if you have the cash

I did some splurging just because. For Microsoft I'd say this sale is one of the better to do it on because we are bound to head into the dry desert of shit sales for months at a time till the holidays which will give us all time to stock back up on discounted credited so we can justify splurges down the road

Man, playing Alien tonight and Amanda Riley is stuttering like Michael J Fox

Had about $25 out of $50 that is going to expire by May so wanted to at least use up what was expiring.  So far got Shadow Warrior, Killer is Dead and Metro Redux Bundle.   I checked my download history for Xbox 360 and realize I already had both Metro games because they were GwG.  I don't think I even played them so not sure if I'm going to play the redux versions lol so I may use that refund option soon and get something else.

Picked up Overcooked, The Witcher 3 Season Pass (if I ever get around to it), and badlands. I think I may be done for now, but I'm tempted by Overwatch and even Black Ops 2.

Heads up that even if you don't have the Insider program and can't see the self-refund button, I just had a Microsoft rep refund a purchase that fit the criteria for the self-refund without any hassle

Just got refunded for Metro Redux.  I opened a chat and it went smoothly but even though I mentioned that new refund policy, it looks like the refund policy isn't live for all yet as she said this was one time courtesy for the rest of the year.  Hopefully when it does go live I won't run into an issue later on.  I did get refunded for a pre-order cancellation just a couple weeks ago so I guess they're pretty courteous or pre-order cancellation doesn't count.  Now what to buy.

Has anyone tried doing that Uprising DLC event in Overwatch yet? I tried beating Hard difficulty last night with a few online buddies from TA and we couldn't get past the part where you have to kill 4 Orissas in 5 minutes. I can't imagine how hair-rippingly frustrating Legendary can be...but I'll find out on Friday when I pull an all nighter to get it done.
It's hard enough even beating Normal with randoms...was on a team earlier where our Tracer needed like three revives by the second objective. As a Mercy playing with randoms I found it to be more like a Babysit Tracer minigame than anything.

Rocket League and many others destroy that stereotype. There's a huge variety to indie games.
Come on, man. Clearly I didn't literally mean that all indie games are platformers. I also didn't mean that I'm literally Ebenezer Scrooge or that I hate every platformer ever made. Hyperbole!

Seems like every time I add a little flavor via hyperbole here I get "corrections" by people who think I'm speaking literally. Obviously I've heard of Rocket League. And Stardew Valley, and Elite Dangerous, and a thousand indie games that showcase a wide variety of genres. BUT- there are a ton of platformers. It really does seem to be the dominant genre in ID@Xbox.

Stereotypes are just generalizations, after all. Only a Sith speaks in absolutes (which is, in itself, an absolute, of course).

Gems of War, lol, ever since they added events and I joined TA's Guild has been super entertaining.
Are you guys working on Team Synergy or something? I joined a guild for that purpose...we're like 60% saved up for it.

I'd be surprised if they didn't eventually add an achievement completion threshold for games. Unless they just plan to track things in the background to determine achievement / playtime completions and factor that into the "abuse" criteria.
But then that could be used by smart developers to prevent refunds. Imagine an Avatar situation where you get all 1,000 GS within 10 minutes, thereby preventing a quick refund.

I've gotten through Hard a few times. Expert and Legendary are going to take full communication and coordination.
The frustrating thing is I think it could be done without communication if people just play intelligently. A lot of it is just solid team comp. Then you play your role and stay together, the latter of which I've only seen happy with one team in about seven games so far.
Hopefully this will encourage other publishers to support BC. Not every game will have such a rabid following but people clearly want and use BC.
I agree, and hopefully they sell boatloads of games in the sale this week to show the power of putting BC games on sale on the week that they actually go BC.

Thoughts on Thief, Lost Odyssey and Sine Mora?
Only have an opinion on Lost Odyssey, which is a fantastic game. You don't have to love JRPGs to love it. As long as you don't absolutely hate them, you should enjoy yourself.

Thanks for the reminder on Thief. I completely forgot it was a GwG for Xbox One.

And thanks for the words on Lost Odyssey. I'll check it out.

Am I the only one here that has never played Black Ops 2?

But then that could be used by smart developers to prevent refunds. Imagine an Avatar situation where you get all 1,000 GS within 10 minutes, thereby preventing a quick refund.
True, but if they were actually smart developers, they'd make a game that people would want to complete regardless of the achievements.

Am I the only one here that has never played Black Ops 2?
Nope.

wouldn't risk it

you don't wanna be one of the posters that end up here with a bucket of tears for missing out
and then end up buying the same game for a deeper discount later...buy it now, we can all cry buckets of tears together.
Ended up buying Juju and now I'm on the fence about Blue Dragon and Killer is Dead.

I know people said Blue Dragon isn't that good, and the demo played like a really typical JRPG, but it reminded me so much of Dragon Ball, I don't know if I'm going to bite anyway.

Any opinions on Killer is Dead would be nice too.

dunno if it's related but my downloading has been absolute garbage lately

shit just sits there taking a break like it's a union job and randomly snags a few mb every now and again
Live marketplace was having issues earlier today.

Came home from work and wanted to play a bit of FH3. 1.4GB update. After a few mins it never moved off 0 bytes. Rebooted and it started to download slowly. Then started to download at a decent speed. By then I gave up caring and started watching Youtube. Maybe tomorrow.
Forza Horizon 3 is having issues today.

Am I the only one here that has never played Black Ops 2?
Nope.

I just played an Uprising game with some randoms on Normal.

I played as Torbjorn. Our Mercy was running around trying to get kills with her pistol instead of healing/buffing, our Reinhardt never used his shield once, and our Tracer thought she was a one woman army.

Never playing this mode ever again without a dedicated squad. Never again.

True, but if they were actually smart developers, they'd make a game that people would want to complete regardless of the achievements.

Nope.
This. Spot on. I am not an absolute achievement whore... But I do enjoy them. If I am playing a game and I absolutely love it, I will be more likely to get as many as I can and possibly even 100% it. If I start a game pop one achievement and then hate it from there on out.. Chances are I won't even be finishing it.

Some games that come to mind that I really enjoyed and had no problem achievement whoring... Hitman games, Wolfenstein: New Order, Spec Ops: The Line (I think this is still one of my favorite stories for a shooter), the last two Medal of Honor games, and a few others.

Is there a trick to using Xbox credit for the BC 360 games? I had a $15 card to use but I couldn't use that credit to check out on the Xbone or mobile. Ended up buying Stardew Valley instead.

Anyone want to party up tomorrow and get the Easter egg medal on Battlefield 1? Req: join a party

Besides Gears of War 4 what other games are holding Easter events?

Killer is Dead is pretty cool. Its strange, and the controls feel a little off at times, but still worth playing. Art style is top notch. I remember one level had an Alice in Wonderland vibe, it was pretty disturbing but awesome.

Hitman is a great example of a game made better by achievements, since they encourage you to replay levels in new ways and challenge yourself.

Grabbed Lego Avengers, Shadow Warrior, Crackdown 2, and Killer is Dead, but I'm stuck on Mad Max, Blops 2, and the MW Collection.
My question is, is it worth grabbing the MW Collection if I already have 2 on disk, and is Blops 2 good all by itself or will I need all the dlc which seems not so cheap when I add it up? Pretty sure Mad Max is gonna happen before the week ends........the pressure to horde is too strong.

Kind of light on money this week but I forgot I had $10 of credit left from a couple weeks ago. I think I'm grabbing Tales from the Borderlands and Shadow Warrior. I desperately need an external HDD. I might grab Arkham Knight when I get paid though. $16 seems pretty good with all DLC included. It seems like no GOTY disc is happening if it hasn't been announced yet.

Not really seeing anyone asking about it but I'd probably hold off if you're considering Sine Mora on 360 for a BC release. They just announced Sine Mora EX for Switch during the Nintendo Direct. I haven't seen any mention of it being exclusive and THQ Nordic is publishing so multiplatform seems likely.

How come I never get the cool stuff being in the insider program -- no Game Pass, no self-service refunds, etc.?
