Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Holy shit I made it to the finish, it just kept going and going, like an infinite rainbow road (this thread) lol.

Thanks, picked up Alice Madness Returns and the free add-on. Anybody catch the season finale of Agents of Shield?

Ghost RIder totally owned! Def one of the best characters on that show.

Holy crap did I get carried away with this sale.

Dead space 3
Half minute hero
Bad company 2
Shadows of the damned
Ghostbusters
Alice: madness returns

And I see some CAGs on my friends list who play ghostbusters and bad company 2. It's time for some co-op gaming.......in 5yrs when I get around to playing all these games.

And Marvel's Agents of Shield season is over.  My thoughts:

  • A very emotional episode, well done.
  • Cool tie-in near the end!
  • An ending that I don't understand and will have to seek answers.
  • Odd that the show didn't finale right before the opening weekend of an MCU movie.
  • One minor gripe that I don't want to post for fearing of spoiling, even with spoiler tags.

I went nuts on the sale. A lot of digital replacements for my physical but some stuff I was wanting as well.

Already own alice on ps3 but for some reason I'm really tempted to buy on xbox too

Usually Microsoft sucks a fatty with prices but lots of good prices on in this sale imo. Not as much of that 9.99 bullshit we usually get

Yep I own it on PS3 as well and went ahead and picked it up. I hate dragging out my PS3 so it's way worth it for me just to have on my Xbox one, may get around to playing it now!

I've double-dipped on a few games I have on PS3, I got Alice cheap on PSN a few years ago. For me its about having everything on one system, plus save games auto-upload online. The PS3 menu system is horrible for managing lots of digital purchases, especially for re-installing things. X1 has made a lot of that so user-friendly by comparison. I think 2/3 of the games I have installed are 360 games.

Is getting fallout 3 or oblivion a good idea? I'm not sure if the DLC are included with the game or if they're a separate purchase. I want to pick up something but I'm not familiar with a lot of these games, does anyone have recommendations?

I've finally grabbed Bomberman Battlefest and NBA Jam... my trigger finger is slow to react because I feel like many of these are going to be the next GWG over the next 12 months.

Not something that jumped out at me at first but grabbed Call of Juarez Gunslinger. Enjoyed what I played of the first game and never picked up this XBLA game in the series, which I know is different and shorter but supposedly the best of them. Not too many Westerns so why not?

Also the lowest price it's been at $3.74.

If you never played them, they are both excellent. Nearly must plays for any RPG fans. May not be your cup of tea but for these prices certainly worth checking out. Don't worry about the DLC. They are nice additions but certainly not necessary to fully enjoy these games.

Of course, in Oblivion's case, once I played Skyrim I never had the desire to play Oblivion again.

That's been one of my favourite parts of this season.

The CGI has been top-notch with Robbie

it's a on-rails shooter, that said it's fairly entertaining, it can get repetitive but the production values are really good

EDIT: Phantom Dust achievement list verification for a third time. Edited since I can't delete it.

Surprised there are no achievements in Phantom Dust.
What happened was because of the store screw up Phantom Dust was probably supposed to come out tomorrow. Yes I realize it was supposed to come out today, but someone at MS messed up with the installer hence the delay and hence why it said no achivements earlier. That has all been fixed now

I can tell you from experience (I'm in Chapter 3) that getting to Chapter 2 in 30 minutes is the only miss able one so far. But need to verify this one the achievement breakthroughs come up. Whenever your doing certain battles make sure you pick Game Over and not Retry, that way you get credit for beating the missions without trying.

*Edit* Looks like you need to take less then 5 points of damage when first meeting someone as well. Not sure if you can do that over via the replay mission.

Single Player thru the first two chapter is basically a giant tutorial/intro. Your gonna need to get half way (or more) through the campaign to get a good feel of the game.

The MP is pretty chaotic and intense. What threw me off at first was you have to stay in your area to get skills. I was running like a idiot around the map at first wondering why I couldn't pick up other peoples orbs.

The graphics are servicable but the cut scenes are GOD AWFUL UGLY! The load times are amazing! So Amazing that the hints/notes on the loading screens can't be read anymore because of the super fast load times :)

Sometimes theres frame stuttering when going from one of the areas to another, but it's quite minor overall.

The connection issues I am assuming are because it doesn't say the game is full when you try to join a near full match. Instead it just decides to try to connect then eventually fails. For whatever reason I also can't create matches with certain maps so assuming that's a bug.

I was pretty big fan of Phantom Dust back in the OG XBox days and I am beyond thrilled with the port. I wish they could have did something with the cut scenes and hopefully fix the online issues, but other then that it's a bang up job.

I hope we see some more OG xbox classic throwbacks, at least the ones that MS owns like Blinx, Brute Force, Bloodwake, Crimson Skies, Mech Assault. I'd love PGR2 and Rallisport Challenge 2 but I'm assuming those might be a licensing nightmare.

Also Conker's Live and Reloaded was pretty mindblowing graphics wise back in the day. Would love to see that as well with MP intact. If MS wants to micro transaction stuff that might be a good one to give for free and go that route as well.

http://phantomdusted.com/ is also a great site to read up on PvP and general tutorials and what not. Sure it has some SP campaign spoilers just to be warned.

Yes, we got Civ Rev with GWG some time ago.

I'm a huge, HUGE Civ fan (maybe my favorite gaming franchise ever for any platform), but I'm not big on Civ Rev. It's too streamlined. Civ III is still my perfect game, though I own 4 and 5 and think 5 is pretty good (4 is a hot mess though) .

I mean, if you don't play Civ anywhere else, Civ Rev is good I guess. But man, it is a shadow of the PC games and I wish it weren't so.
I am also a huge Civ fan. It's interesting to me that you prefer Civ 3 over 4 and 5. My favorite Civ used to be 2 until 4 came out. To me Civ 3 was very buggy and the rules for combat were over simplified. Civ 4 is easily modded and you could really extend the game to however you wanted to play. My friend at work and I played Civ 4 for hours online together. We added mods for adding Jedi Knights and Sith lords as well as the Jedi religion. Darth Vader was the missionary for spreading the Jedi religion. It was a blast! I pretty much played Civ 4 to the exclusion of all other games throughout 2006. I think Civ Revolution is ok. It is over simplified, but still fun. Even though I did not like Civ 3 as much as the other Civ games I played the heck out that game as well.

My purchases so far:

Dragon's Lair

Arkanoid Live

Call of Juarez Gunslinsger

Torchlight

Dead Rising 2 Case West

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime

Too bad there were really few DLCs on sale, I still don't have L4D2 maps, they stopped putting them on sale right after I got the game on sale :/

Um they've had Fallout 3 dlc sales before. You could have also gotten in on the physical disc exchange train that was on CAG many years ago.

Gunslinger is the most action oriented of all the games in the series. Quite fun.

If I only have time in my life for one post-apocalyptic, cyberpunk shooter/rpg should I chose Borderlands 1 or Rage? I value a good story with a reasonably good plot above all else.

For anyone paranoid about 360 games going GWG. Any game that has a $5 base price (so $1.25 or $2.50 in this current sale) will never be a GWG ever, so buy to your heart's content.

$10 games have a risk (especially if they're popular like Beyond Good & Evil HD), but usually it's $15 - $20 games (and up).

Borderlands hands down. Rage isn't a bad game but not the same level of goodnesss as Borderlands by any stretch IMO.

Personally I prefer Rage for single player and Borderlands for co-op. If you are playing by yourself get Rage. Borderlands becomes much more of a grind fest when you are by yourself, while Rage has much more in the world for solo players.

I don't remember Borderlands or Rage having much of a story.
Yea, I've heard that about borderlands. Don't know much about Rage at all so was kind of hoping it was the narrative version of Mad Max Game. If there's really no story then maybe I'll just keep playing my backlog...

How do these games stack up to the current gen Mad Max game? I've heard that is one massive grind.

Anyone play the Ghost Recon DLC? Do they really make you start another character??
Yes, I have put about 2-3 hours into Narco Road thus far. It is a bit different than the main game in that you have to earn "fans/followers" to unlock stuff. You do this via stunt car jumps, aerial stuff, off-roading, and drifts.

You start by making a new character. There are new turbo-enabled cars and monster trucks. There are 4 large regions. This is entirely self contained from the main game. Nothing carries over except for your UPlay unlocks. It is a lot of fun and it doesn't take itself seriously at all.

(When I first started the DLC, I got the 75G achievement for completing all story missions - which was an error cuz I'm only 1/3 done with the base game.)

Microsoft/Xbox credit (previously referred to as points) can only be used to purchase :360: content from two different places:

  • On a physical :360: console.
  • From the virtual :360: console used for BC games on an :xb1: console. This is typically only for :360: DLC when you can access the Xbox store from within said BC game.

I feel like this is covered A LOT...
A year plus ago I had the same questions. It seemed a bit vague in the OP. It says you can use your credit from your console. Maybe Bloomy can add a sentence or two that says 360 games can NOT be purchased on a XBox One console with credit. You can however do it from your 360 console if you have one.

Really sucks that MS can't just fix this.

One question I don't see answered though. Can I use expired $5 movie credits to buy 360 games on a 360 console.

How graphic are the Alice games?  I wouldn't plan to play them in front of the kiddo, but if they waltz into the room unnoticed and see it, I don't want them to be scarred for life.

Drifts? Drifts? They bring the worst thing from Forza Horizon over to the DLC of this game? Sucks you grind and grind to get all the upgrades and then they are ignored in the DLC. Guess it makes sense though in a way. My guy runs fast and quiet and has good health. They would have to ramp up the difficulty and have more upgrades to unlock to make the game balanced I guess.

I am probably (hopefully) a couple days away from finishing the collectible related trophies and getting the plat. Have half the weapon related trophies. Probably pick up the Narco Road DLC. Hoping for a sale or something when the last DLC drops at the end of the month.

There is a story of sorts with Borderlands. Certainly not the greatest story ever but there is one. Certainly more of a story then say Destiny had at launch.

I tried to play BL1 last year and just don't think it holds up very well. It was a GWG about a year ago so he might already have it. I have bought Rage a couple of times (once on PS3 and again for 360). Haven't gotten around to playing it yet though so can't comment on it.

Haven't played Rage yet.

Loved Mad Max and Borderlands (mostly 2).

If you are only going to buy / play one I think Mad Max is a better game overall. BL1 doesn't hold up well IMO. I would love a remaster of BL1. But at this point I am just hoping they don't fuck up Borderlands 3.

At the time Rage came out, it was celebrated for having really good graphics for the 360/PS3 era. They still look pretty good today. I think people just expected it to be more than what it was gameplay-wise, but it was fun. I own Mad Max on Xbox One and got stuck at one part where I'm supposed to dismantle a guard tower with the tow line on Max's car and I never went back to it, but it is supposed to be a really good game. I might go back to it someday, but real life is frustrating enough for me right now that I don't want to come home and replay the same damn mission over and over.

On a related note, if anyone likes puzzle games and is just looking for a casual zen-type game to veg out on, spend $2.49 on Word Puzzle. It's a basic kind of crossword puzzle game with a timer on the stages, but I found it to be very relaxing.

Starting to put my BC purchase list together, already looking at buying at least 47 games from the under $3 pile.

This'll probably be the most expensive Xbox sale for me all year. At least I've got a decent amount of Bing monies stocked up, gotta love the timing for that Windows Store GC discount.
