I got my first PS since PS1 just to play The Show, and it's been sucking up all my gaming time. That and Injustice 2 on the X1. Making zero headway on the backlog because of it. I'm a massive horror and Jason fan, and I just can't justify F13 without a single player portion. I never use a mic (mostly because the kids are sleeping when I game) and it sounds like it's almost pointless without it. I'm sure when it drops to $20 I'll grab it anyway!
 
Besides Zoo Tycoon, are there any English language "exclusives " or freebies you can't find on the US store? Like I thought Xbox Fitness was cancelled but it showed up free with free DLC on Japan store recommendations below Zoo Tycon, as has this free golf game I'd never heard of or saw on XBL Store, Powerstar Golf. Crimson Dragon is also for sale, never often see that mentioned on "what's on sale this week" threads like this across the web, It's the infamous audio silent bug trailer game right? Forgot it even existed. Thanks Japan.

They didn't send a message, it was all verbal. So like you, people were annoyed by me doing dumb shit, but I was at the point where I didn't even know what the buttons on the controller did just yet. I guess one of the buttons turns on a flashlight of some sort and drew attention. Now my family needs to die or something.

But in general, I don't do well in multiplayer games. Especially ones where I'm on a team, because honestly, I'm not good at multiplayer games and I rarely have the patience to stick to the same game long enough to become a master of it, my backlog won't allow it. I have a monster gaming PC but I choose to game on console for the sole reason of PC gamers taking games too seriously, but it exists on consoles sometimes too, and console gamers can be much more immature about it.

Also, besides that, the game is just garbage. It was a Kickstarter game and it feels like it. Like a cheap indie game that would have been included in an Indie Gala bundle for Steam. The game seems to run at approx. 20fps for some reason. And for some reason my character keeps acting like I'm getting hurt when I'm walking around, which makes me think Jason is.... shooting at me? Or is that animation supposed to mean that my character is scared? Am I getting killed by mosquitoes? I AM at a lake, am I supposed to be looking for insect repellent? It's like I'm playing an Atari 2600 game and I'm trying to figure out what is happening and what I'm looking at.

Those other games do exist in the US. You can check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Games_with_Gold_games for other freebies. See the notes area. Every once in awhile some other countries get something different than the US for GwG.

Powerstar Golf is on the US store and the base game is free. Most of the content is locked away behind a paywall. Other than that, I can only think back to when Kalimba was a free GWG game in Japan at one point.

Back in Nov/Dec 2014 they had the full unlock for Powerstar Golf for other countries. Missed that freebie. That was before I found out you can easily get other countries GwG Xbox One offerings w/ your existing US account. Haven't missed the other ones though since.

I did buy the full unlock for $5 though later. Fun game. :)

Xbox 360 is still a challenge. You'd need to change your account to that other region or have a second account w/ Gold. Too much trouble.

Bit on Halo Wars 2 for ~$10 after the Amazon cash and lightning deals. Another HDR game to feed to my new S.

I was looking st the list of HDR games and find it comical that Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is supported. So they spent time adding HDR to a game that has massive technical issues? Doesn't seem like a good use of resources there.

I think it's been pretty well established that Xbox One games bought by simply changing the store region is safe. I think even Major Nelson commented on a post about this on Reddit back when Kalimba was in the same situation.

The bad way is changing your whole account's region that is required to get alternate 360 games. I guess a change in policy happened when Xbone came out.

Can't fault you for playing it safe after the Oman Wars though.

so after having my external hard drive fail, now my Xbox One S (which I purchased brand new about 6 months ago through newegg) is not displaying any of my games in the ready to install section, yesterday it had over 150 games in there, now it can't load them at all... I'm starting to think the Xbox One S itself is fucked up or something, it's also been randomly having issues opening netflix and amazon video this past week, I'll click to open them and nothing will happen, I'll wait a bit and click again and nothing will happen, then after reset they open fine...

edit: after resetting the third time, all my ready to install games popped back up on the list..

Correct. They cannot fault you for 'stumbling' onto Microsoft.jp and noticing that Zoo Tycoon was free.

As long as you don't change your location/region in your account settings, all is fine.

Luriden, just play with CAGs if you're going online. Tonight is actually Xbox One game night. Any game you have, I'm sure you can find a group of CAGs with it.

It just says 2018...do we know that it's a full year as in twelve months? Will Destiny 2 even have DLC out in 2017? Not that I play Destiny, but just curious if you're overreacting.

Broke as hell even though I just got paid, but I have $49 in Xbox Live credit on my account right now. That said, I'm considering buying digital Stardew Valley so I can do a return or exchange on the physical copy that I got from GameStop with the trade credit bump last month. It's still unopened. Stardew seems like a game that I would want digitally. Or I could try one of the many backward compatible 360 games that I bought during the BC sale. More than likely, there will be some Spelunky in there. I've never gotten to the last stage on Xbox, only faced the final boss on PlayStation Vita. And I plan to watch the Batman: Gotham Knight/Year One DVD that I bought at Target last night.

Man I to this day I hate the X1 notification system, didnt realized you msg'd me til hours later. I forget how it was on 360, whether it was a different chime or what, but you knew some sent a msg if you were in another room. With the X1 if you dont look at dashboard occasionally you dont notice anything. My apologies

 
Thank goodness I didnt go overboard and trade Forza Horizon 3 disc away after seeing I didnt need it to play. It's back to needing the disc. Dodged a bullet with that one

 
Anyone play Final Fantasy XV on an S with HDR? Something is weird. All the other games I've tried like FH3 and Gears 4 look phenomenal with HDR. But FF XV looks awful. Lots of jaggies and framerate is worse. Looked and ran better on my fatty.

Read something about the game having an option for HDR on PS4 Pro but see noting in the options on X1 and I do get an "HDR" message on my TV.

Am I missing something?

I started following WatchMixer using the xbox app. The wording of the rules made it sound like logging in for the first time entered you in a weekly drawing, and following WatchMixer entered you in a separate, bigger drawing. As long as MS keeping dangling that carrot, I will keep using Mixer. I actually kinda liked the polls and stuff during the xbox dailies.


The issue with the Oman Wars was falsifying a billing address in that region. Changing the language setting on the web page is fine. Theoretically, if you were doing this to buy a game not available in your country due to content restrictions you could have issues, but this is not the case with Zoo Tycoon in USA.

Yep, shows up as free. I don't think they sell a non season pass version either at retail or digital. Seems like a marketing ploy to make it seem like you're getting a "gold edition" type package for the normal cost of a full game.

Man its been a month since MS gave me a full refund for Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 and I STILL own the license for it. I'm afraid if I buy it for super cheap later on that they'll see I'm playing it and ban me for fraud even though I called them and told them the license is still active long ago.

 
Just a random thought, with the size of your backlogs, do you ever replay any of the games you own? 

I'm playing through Witcher 2 (among many others) and just got to the part
where I choose between Iorveth or Roche
and made me realize I need to replay it once I finish the game. 

Other than Alan Wake, the only games I've replayed multiple times is the Mass Effect trilogy.
