Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

So if you guys could have a collection of retro games released for 360/X1 from ANY console/system in the past.... what would you like it to be? Ignore the practicality/licensing of it for the moment. For argument's sake, let's consider a "collection" to be 10 or more games.

If you could play retro games on your Xbox, legally.... what system would you want to play?
I would want a Mario collection spanning NES thru N64, including the likes of Mario Kart and Mario Tennis.

For a whole console, I'd want a full Dreamcast list. I loved pretty much every game that came out on the console. Hell playing Seaman with the Kinect would be hilarious.

Sega CD - I remember it had some of the best RPGs I've played - Vay, Lunar, Lunar II, Popful Mail, Shining Force, etc plus fighting game - Eternal Champions CD

Nintendo 64. Mario 64, Mario Kart, Goldeneye 64 + more.

A Nintendo collection, for sure. Any gen or a combination of all would be awesome. I keep hoping for Nintendo consoles to fail hard and for the company to license their stuff out like Sega, as unlikely as that may be. It'd be nice if they'd stop making home consoles and make portable games and port other stuff to Xbox/PS.

This isn't exactly what you're asking, but I'd love to see all DW/DQ games on the :xb1:. Maybe also all FF games.

With the McDonald's app I can get a FREE medium McCafe w/ the purchase of a breakfast sandwich. I usually just get a sausage biscuit for $1.29.

I'm lovin' it.

Oh and if the Atlanta Falcons score, you can get a free Big Mac or Egg McMuffin the next day.

Blitz Mode for Halo Wars 2 is pretty fun, but I think it's going to be drowning in microtransactions for the cards. I mean, they're obviously going to be there, but doing well is probably going to mean acquiring a LOT of packs until you have a couple of decks full of rare cards. It definitely is an improvement over Halo 5's REQs since they are permanent cards, though it doesn't look like there is a way to craft them like Gears 4 or Overwatch, so you could potentially never get the stuff you want.

There is a Firefight in the options though who knows if that will have the same legs as normal Halo Firefight. It's nice to see this along with Blitz. Halo Wars 1 had a small but dedicated playerbase, but having more options might bring in more long-term players.

The art is encouraging to me. While some the Covenant and Forerunner stuff looks closer to 343's style, the Spartans and most UNSC vehicles look closer to Bungie and (Ensemble's) HW1 designs. The choice to set this after Halo 5, and at the Ark of all places, certainly is giving this potential to be interesting. I get the feeling they will just brush over the 30 year gap that the Spirit of Fire presumably cryoslept through, but even without building on that there could be a lot of interesting stuff here.

Personally I don't know that I'll stick with multplayer enough to care about the DLC for it. I hope you can just buy the story stuff separately. Currently you can't even get the season pass outside of the Ultimate Edition.

You can earn a Blitz pack by completing the tutorial. I'm hoping full game had more ways of earning cards. I played 2 games last night. Calling down a scarab on a control point was way too much funny.

As someone who lives in bum fuck NY, it's up in the center of the state pretty much, I can't participate in this beta because internet here sucks. Do post this in the Halo Wars 2 thread though please. Thanks

I'd love to see either, but both would be such a backlog killer that I'd almost hate myself for buying them. Hard to clear out the backlog when you're stockpiling it with 50+ hour games several at a time, lol.

If only I liked their coffee...I'm a Kwik Star man, myself. Not exactly very Cheap Ass Breakfaster of me, but it's good stuff.

Bow to me, mortals.

Didn't DS Ignition get really trashed? Still looking forward to Madden 17 and Skate 3.

Love never buying another sports game again. If only EA would make a decent basketball and golf game for this gen.

I really wish PS4 had an EA Access type of thing. That'd be awesome for people like me who like sports games, but are too indecisive about spending so much money on them.

I try not to pay attention to reviews. If it's Dead Space related, I'll try it. Shit, I'd even play a Dead Space: Baking Cakes With Necromorphs game.

Yeah, I wouldn't get overly excited for Dead Space Ignition. The gameplay is ok but pretty basic. The art is TRASH though. It would have been more enjoyable if it was the same style as the cartoon they made, but the style and overall game feel like they were made in a week to be the pre-order bonus that it was.

I can understand it being bad, using streaming services as an analogy. If every publisher had a membership service, it could quickly add up to a ridiculous amount of money per month/year. Niche market, but I consider wrestling streams as a comparision: There are multiple services that all require their own payments, I could easily spend ~$50/month for streaming services due to multiple providers, and this is the potential for gaming. WWE/NJPW/Progress/WhatCulture/FloSlam can equate to EA/Ubi/SquareEnix/WB.

Been meaning to ask this for awhile but does EA Access work in offline mode? I have no internet at the house and I would get it if I know if it works.

But they're all optional at the end of the day. Sony made an arbitrary decision on behalf of its customers, that's the bottom line.

Besides, it's been nearly 2 and a half years since EA Access launched (August 2014) and still no even a peep from other publishers coming up with something remotely similar to EA Access.

Granted, some publishers might have something cooking in the oven and are waiting for the "right" time to make announcement. Or they might have much interest.

Hmm...the slippery slope argument? I'll bite.

For starters, I don't think the reality of some sort of streaming apocalypse is going to come to fruition because there are only a few publishers that can really justify it on the strength of their annual release lineups. Even Bethesda couldn't get away with it, at least not without an insanely low price. And EA Access is $2.50 a month. If every one of the three or four top publishers offered the same deal, you'd look at $10 per month. So two full-price games per year. That would be AMAZING. I'd take that this second.

I don't think the wrestling argument works in your favor, either. That $50 is right about what a single monthly WWE PPV costs. For that you're getting each PPV, all kinds of archived content, weekly shows a month after they air, and all the other non-WWE stuff you listed.

And the last nail in the coffin to that argument is that just like WWE's streaming service hasn't replaced the option to buy a PPV a la carte, EA Access doesn't keep you from simply buying the games you want instead of subscribing. It's just an option; and it's one that will save you a lot of money if you buy a lot of games.

I get the feeling you were mostly just playing devil's advocate, and I love doing so myself so I get that, but I seriously can't think of a single way in which EA Access is bad for gamers.

He was paraphrasing Sony's excuse as to why EA Access isn't available on PS4.
Darby already set me straight, thanks! :)

Bottom line is Microsoft paid into the EA Access "access" while Sony did not. Sony was pushing their own streaming with Gaikai at the time anyways.

As it is I don't personally think EA Access is worth the yearly price, but if you like sports or are more into EA's overall catalog I see the value. If they gave you DLC with it I would think it's worth it, but I'm pretty sure that selling DLC is like half the plan for Access. All the 360 stuff really bumped up my opinion on the service, even though I already own pretty much every game I would care about being added.

If some other publishers did something like EA Access I'd be much more interested, especial with 360 games being in the mix. Someone like Capcom or Square Enix. Maybe 2K.

As of yesterday, you can play DQ 4 through 9 on a 3DS (through 10 with a Japanese one, and 11 will be released on it as well with PS4 and the Switch). Some may say 1-3 are available there as well. :whistle2:$

I'm currently waiting for 8 to finish downloading.

Except that 4-6 were small print runs on the DS with no digital options for games that are readily available on iOS and Android. Square could make a lot of money putting all of the DQ and FF games on consoles and handhelds for the same high prices as on mobile and people would gladly pay for them.

I wouldn't say small print runs, square enix is still printing them and selling them. I picked up all three on black friday in 2015 for like 15 each.

I think they had some dlc free for a limited time. Unless that was free for everybody

I think it's 100% worth it. Mass Effect Trilogy, Battlefield BC2/3/4, Mirror's Edge 1/2, Garden Warfare are all great games. Also being able to preload games I will also get on disc days before launch is great for me, I don't want to waste time when I get my games. Looking at you Mass Effect Andromeda, I bet you'll have a huge D1 patch and install size.

This is two days in a row you're starting your day with shrimp. You're a savage. I really hate shrimp aside from shrimp cocktail.

Gotta hit the grocery store today for my festival of football foods tomorrow, but I gotta sober up first

So the "Play Anywhere " deal with Resident Evil 7 with Xbox and PC only works through Xbox marketplace or the MS store, right?

Really annoying when you have credit elsewhere ...although I could probably just buy some currency towards it.

Also wondering if they will be separate codes (hence allowing me to sell the PC code to help offset the cost).

Not a fan of the cocktail sauce personally, ranch dressing (Kraft) is my goto dipping sauce for anything

Edit: Besides I go w/ the shrimp cause they want $200 for a box of king crab legs
