I don't know what is going on with my Xbox Gold, so I'll share my experience hoping that others may have had a similar experience.

Since December 2017 I noticed that in the Gold section on Xbox One, it says my Gold expires sometime in 2016 (I think September). Website still showed the correct expiration date. My Gold expired on December 21st and I took advantage of a $5 for a month of Gold offer on Home screen. That actually gave me 2 months for only $5. Which was good until Feb 21st (tomorrow) according to the website, on Xbox One the date is still 2016. Tonight (early morning) I got an email telling me I was charged $9.99 for auto renewal. The bank account associated with my Xbox account does not have that much money in it, so I checked it expecting to see a negative balance. However I wasn't charged and there were no pending charges. I went to the account website and turned off auto renewal. Then I checked my billing history. There was a $9.99 charge to my credit card, but there was also a $9.99 refund. The date on the website now says I have Gold until March 21st.

I was going to contact support and complain about being charged a day early (even though it was my fault. I should've cancelled sooner). Now that I saw the refund, should I just forget about it and take the free Gold?

That sounds like when I bought the Outlast expansion and it tried to charge my empty prepaid card on my account instead of my account balance. It ended up just giving it to me for free. (kept trying to charge the card and finally stopped trying)

If I didn't have most of those games, I would get that for sure. That's a damn good deal. I don't know who in their right mind would pay $100 though.
 
Yeah, I have PS+ and a lot of those games have been on it, but if I didn't own so many I'd jump on it. A lot of decent to good games in there.

For the price it's a pretty good deal imho. I owned just over half so I'm probably passing on it. Some of the games are pretty tough also OlliOlli and 10 Second ninja aren't free give me 1000 gamerscore but still really fun. The Swapper kind of reminded me of a 2D portal, some tough puzzles.

Before anyone gets scared off, I just wanted to say that this is probably an overestimation. :) ME2 and 3 can be easily beaten in under 30 hours each, and I've speedrun ME1 in 5.5 hours. Of course you can and should take it slow and soak up the story but only playing through the series once is not going to take hundreds of hours.

That said, everyone should play the trilogy at least once not because it's required to understand Andromeda, but because they're some of the best games ever!
 
Man, playing through XV so slowly has been paying off for me. Being stuck with only the Chocobo music when riding was the main nitpick I had while just riding around doing stuff. I'm surprised they aren't charging for the game either. While the other pre-order stuff is super cheap, I would have expected $5 or something for a game.

We need more than Butler for that pick. Cousins, while completely insane would have made a huge difference. I'm not a huge Jimmy Butler fan anyway, but they need a legitimate big man more than anything. I also think the Horford signing was a bad deal for them, but everyone gets overpaid in the NBA

Started Halo Wars 2 last night. Goddamned the cutscenes look spectacular again. Looking forward to digging into it more tonight

Also missed the Sea of Thieves alpha Saturday night because for some reason it said I wasn't authorized when I went to log in. Thinking it might be because I was playing on a different console than I downloaded and played on originally. Maybe not though
 
Seems Elder Scrolls Online is on sale, $17.99 for base game and $30 for Gold Edition. I'm just getting into this game, had gotten a copy from Best Buy for like $5. Figured I had missed the sales for this so I'll be picking up the Gold Edition at that price.

Don't mean to derail the topic, but as an off-topic comment on this issue, it will take a lot more than the Brooklyn first rounder to pry Jimmy Butler from the Bulls. You don't find many two-way players in their prime locked down for a value deal in the current CBA like Butler. If the C's want Butler, it's going to take at least the Brooklyn pick, Memphis pick and a prospect (e.g. Brown) to get him. I don't think it's likely Chicago moves Jimmy, though.

I just bought the digital version. I had the disc but sold it. I think it is worth it seeing as how the season pass alone is $30. I really have enjoyed what I have played so far.

 
My gold expired 4 days ago and no renewal discount deal on my dashboard. Cheapest I can find looks like Target red card at $48, then GameStop at $50.

Anyone know of anything lower?
 
I remember like 2 or 3 years ago they would have the 12 month xbox live prepaid card on sale for like $35 to $40. Now it does not go below $45.

This is true. In the late winter/early spring they would always discount it very heavily. When I first got my Gold in 2011 it was in early March I believe because it was something like $30 plus you got The Maw, the R-Type game, and the Gunstringer. Never would have dreamed I'd still have it.

I believe they hit their critical point though where they don't feel the need to discount it so heavily anymore.

That's cause Playstation Plus used to be $50, so Xbox Live Gold would try to undercut and come in lower. Once PS+ increased to $60 same as XBL Gold, we rarely get anything retail sub $40 nowadays.

As pointed out though, you can visit CAG's trading forum and snag a twelve month subscription for $35ish. When Nintendo begins charging for their online service starting in the fall(rumored to be around $30/year), I wonder if we'll see a return in discount pricing for XBL Gold subs......

About a week or so after mine expired, a deal for $39.99 popped up on XBL. It was only there for a day then starting seeing the $4.99 for one month deal.

ESO housing update, Resident Evil 7 dlc, and Vaccine tomorrow. Too much for me. Housing will be expensive (ingamme currency). I've been avoiding RE7 dlc spoilers for the past 3 weeks. Vaccine looks meh, but so do a lot of games this person gifts me then I love them and play for weeks.
 
The only good chance of sub-$40 Gold is going to be in November, when everything is heavily discounted, and even then, it's usually a brief online sale. I'm good through the end of 2017 so I'm hoping for a deal then.

Brooks is an incredible drummer, and he added a lot to the modern-era sound that started with Process of Belief. I'm sure the new guy will be fine for future song-writing, but those are big shoes to fill for a few favs like Materialist. He's up there with Jimmy Chamberlain IMHO in terms of drummers who are really hard to replace. Really glad I saw them on the 30th anniversary tour.

Side note. When I was in graduate school (15+ years ago) I saw Godsmack, Disturbed and Stone Temple Pilots together. David Draiman of Disturbed started the show with him in the Electric chair getting fried.  It was a good show.

I think this was 1998. I am a fan of the early stuff from Disturbed. In fact their performace was the best of the 3 that night. I can leave or take Godsmack but it was good enough. I also saw STP in 1994.

Was that STP '94 show the tour with Meat Puppets and Jawbox? I saw then on that tour and they were phenomenal. When Weiland was on there were few better frontmen from that era.

I saw them at Summerfest in 94 at the Marcus Amphitheater. I think only Meat Puppets opened at that venue. It was cool to see STP in both an open air venue and an arena setting.

Has anyone here played Lichdom Battlemage? I bought it when amazon had the disc for $5 new and it's literally unplayable. After a few minutes of gametime, it keeps bringing up the sign in menu over and over again.

 
fuck  Microsoft in the butt with a fuck  dill pickle.  This last "update" totally   fuck my external HD and keeps freezing itself. I just lost 3.5TB of games and saves. I'm ready to sale the fuck  and get a PS4.

Edit: cleaned it up a bit since this was posted from a phone and some emots was not showing correctly.

Edit some more: I was able to salvage most of my external HD, so I only lost a few save files not a big lost.
