Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

A lot of GWG in that list. Still, they'll obviously add a lot more when the program launches for real. Should be interesting.

It's already been suffering. Either it's obscure titles or "hit" titles that no one would buy anyway.
To be fair, MS is kind of in a no-win zone when it comes to GWG. If they pick a popular title, it's something many people have already bought. If they pick something most people haven't bought, there are complaints that they don't do enough AAA games.

It's only EA's "model" because their service is specifically for one publisher. Microsoft will be making licensing deals with many different publishers and some will expire over time. Just like movies on Netflix.
That's true, but I think the comparison is fair because they are directly competing with EA Access here.

Reading their FAQ, which is still kind of useless, it sounds like you only miss the titles if you forget to download them. If you download them, they won't be affected by the rotation.
Ah, so that wouldn't be that bad. If you can download a title while it's included in the program and continue to play it as long as you're a subscriber, regardless of whether it drops out, that's cool with me.

I don't know why both Sony and Microsoft don't transition to giving their services away as part of their monthly subscription plan rather than free games each month (I believe this is what Nintendo is doing with the Switch).  It seems like it would be a win-win.  Why not have Microsoft just replace the free monthly GWG selections with this new subscription plan?  Why not have Sony replace the PS Plus games with the PS Now service?  I'm not saying there aren't problems to work out, but a lot of consumers would prefer a larger selection of games from a service than to keep getting "free" games that they already purchased or don't care about.  It also seems like Sony and Microsoft might benefit from not having to setup those contracts for the free games.

I would not make the assumption that you get to keep games after they get removed from the service. My guess is that if a game gets removed you lose your license to play it, again just like Netflix or Spotify. We will find out one way or the other though. They do say that you retain the option to buy the game with the 20% discount.

I'm guessing (hoping) that shitty list is just for the alpha test... Otherwise, it wouldn't be close to worth it for those of us with months of GwG and hundreds of games in the Ready to Install list.

It'll be hard to do at this point. It's hard to take things away from people. Sure, us old timers know that Live Gold used to be just for online services. But others may associate the free games as being part of that Gold package. Taking those games away devalues Live Gold.

Plus, even if the games aren't great or I already own them, there's something special about getting things for free on a regular basis. I still go and claim them even if I know I'll never touch them. I can tell you now, I am not paying an extra $10 for any game subscription service. I'll just go back to my old strategy if I clear my GwG backlog and run out of games to play -- buy with 20% GCU discount, finish game asap, trade back in for max TIV, repeat.

Yeah it says that the alpha test list is "very limited" compared to what the full service will launch with...

Still, I'd anticipate that for many of us on this site, it will be a struggle to find games that aren't already in the backlog. :)

Well I got a $5 GC from MS this morning. Unfortunately it was only one GC and I bought both movies at the same time. Guess I should give it give 7 day window before complaining.
Same here. Man I hope there aren't any problems. I don't really want to deal with support to get it resolved.

They're advertising made it seem like you will earn a $5 gift card for each movie purchased.

It even says "Build your Oscar collection and receive $5 gift cards"

Ugh, I only got one gift card (so far) as well. Hopefully they keep rolling out, but like you I am not anticipating dealing with CSRs to get my money back. Thanks for the pic where it says "gift cards," between that and the terms I think I can convince a CSR why I only purchased the movies to get the gift card back.

http://www.thecouponingcouple.com/how-to-read-coupons-understanding-the-wording-and-anatomy/
PER PURCHASE PER CUSTOMER, PER PURCHASE PER PERSON, PER PURCHASE PER HOUSEHOLD, OR PER PURCHASE PER TRANSACTION: When two of the above per terms are combined all meanings should be applied. So if a coupons states Limit one per purchase per customer this is combining the terms one per purchase and one per customer. This means you may only use one of those coupons per item you are getting (so you can’t get the discount for multiple items with that one coupon) AND each customer can only use one coupon. This wraps up to only getting that discount on the coupon once. The easiest way to think about this combined wording is that you must satisfy BOTH parts as if they were separately stated.
Well crap, according to the first hit I had on google they aren't likely to issue more gift cards.

Might be in the minority, but I hated the movie. Never played the 360 game. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Huh? Doesn't the part you put in red say "per qualifying title"?

That seems pretty clear to me that they should give one gift card for each title purchased.

This pass blows EA Access out of the water for me, mostly because it doesn't appear that it will be 30% sports games. While EA Access is much cheaper even if you pay monthly, we're at 44 total games after nearly 3 years, and we know the limited catalog that can be added.

I think it's really aimed at competing with PlayStation Now more than anything anyways. They specifically mention that you download games rather than having to worry about streaming quality, and can play them offline. It's also is a lot cheaper than the $20 per month or $45 for three. And PS Now is for some reason only for PS3 games even at this price.

All that said, I don't think I'll be using this service either as a person with so many games already, but if you're the type to rent a game than $10 for so many options for 30 days it pays for itself.

I really didn't like this promotion because the language is just vague enough you could probably read it either way. I think there's a common sense enough interpretation issue that we can rightfully complain when one thing says $5 per purchase. Probably going to be hit and miss though.

The blog I quoted says if the terms say "per customer per purchase" then you can only redeem the offer once total. I agree that the plain text wording was misleading since it said gift cards, but if they wanted to be strict about it the burden to read T&C was on me. I'm gonna give it a couple days in case they're just being slow about it, but I'm getting my ducks in a row to argue with m$.

Holy shit, Xbox Game Pass is exactly what I've been waiting for for years - the Netflix of gaming. This could be a huge gamechanger. If I was a PS4 owner, I would be salty as hell that there isn't something similar on PS.

I've seen commercials for new Avatar land opening at Disney World (Animal Kingdom) on May 27th.

Supposedly they are making a few more Avatar movies as well in the future.

Too bad it isn't Nickolodeon's ATLA/TLOK.

It was the first really good 3D movie that convinced people 3D wasn't a fad. Sadly, that's not true. :(
My eyes suck in my old age. I can't see 3D movies like I use to. I remember Captain EO at Disneyland way back when I was a kid. That awesome. Sadly, The 3D movies for me nowadays only offer slight 3D. Maybe a little bit of depth, but nothing like floating things in the theater.

Yep, but that's why we've got a common sense argument at least and it's probably going to come down to the rep.

can someone help me find that post that was made a few days ago where the guy was mad and he was using a bunch of emojis. I wanna use it as copypasta

Man SonyGaf is hilarious. The idiotic complaints coming from there are simply amazing. Microsoft just shit all over them. Great idea, look forward to this coming out.

That wording is terrible. It's impossible to buy the same digital movie more than once so why even say it unless it really means per promotion which for everyone's sake here I hope that's not the case.

I just had a mental awakening. This new program now gives them a business incentive to try to go back and get original Xbox games working. Adds value for probably a very low cost since its not like pubs are selling them anymore. OG Xbox BC is surprisingly not dead as a possibility!

It was never dead as a possibility, and was more technologically likely given the original Xbox's x86 based hardware vs. the PowerPC 360 hardware. The CPU driven code could probably even be run directly on the XB1. The problem is the Xbox's GPU was pretty customized, last I checked the home brew scene hasn't had good results emulating it well. But since MS has the original specs, it should be easier for them.

I'm torn on it. Either it's a brilliant move or Xbox is hurting and needs to compensate for lack of exclusives. With the success of EA access though, it could be a very big hit.

I'm sure they are using it to compensate for that and sales. I think they will also use it to highlight games like Recore, Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, and others which sold terribly but were new IP. Hopefully it will lead to a possible second chance for titles like those.

I'm just concerned this potentially screws us all over in the long run by taking away the incentive to have sales or locking the better sales prices behind yet another pay wall.

Wonder what we'll get next week for the id@Xbox sale. I already own all the games for this weeks sale. Was the last id@xbox sale a month long event? I forget.

Just as long as it doesn't mess with GwG. I can imagine that it may lead to even more new indie games for GwG. Not necessarily a bad thing.

As lead of the CAG Detective Force, I have gathered the following research to complete my case.

Groo used words like "fuckos" - so does Kristaps Schwartzingis.

Groo loved achievements - so does Kristaps Schwartzingis.

Groo talked about KOTOR a lot - so does Kristaps Schwartzingis.

My final argument...

Groo's gamertag is The Schwartz. Sounds a lot like Kristaps Schwartzingis.

Welcome back brother. No further questions.

Not trolling you with this, honestly, just curious if this changes your opinion on the impending death of BC.
