Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

^ Make this guy the head of XBox division, he knows everything.
I don't see why people need to make a excuses for someone that is getting paid million of dollars to lead a billion dollar company. They don't need your sympathy. Either they are doing their job or they are not. Someone had to take the fall for the terrible xbox one lauch but love him or hate him the xbox franchise was most successful under the leadership of Don Mattrick.

MS shot themselves in the foot by making the xbox one a media center first and a gaming console second. They finally went back to making the xbox Scorpio an honest to goodness gaming machine.

i think it had more to do with Sony's arrogance than Mattrick's leadership

Mattrick learned nothing from Sony's mistake and it got him fired

Fair enough but Persona 5 shipped 1.5 million copies day 1. Nier Automata and Nioh have sold over 1 million each. What does Xbox have? Mass Effect Andromeda with it's goofy animations? MS needs to attract developers and cancelling Scalebound from a well respected developer like Platinum games so late in development was a bad message to send to other developers.

Xbox finally has the hardware advantage for the first time this gen. Let's see what they can do with it. People want games, People want something to be excited for.
This is all well and good, but when they release good games like Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, Ori and the Blind Forest, Titanfall, etc, and they all underperform or flat out flop, what are they supposed to do? Keep investing money in new IPs that nobody will support? People keep clamoring for more exclusives but they aren't selling . And it's not because the games suck. I'm not sure what kind of exclusives y'all want but it's apparently not what MS is selling. Like seriously. What do you guys want? JRPGS? Anime games?

Your post is invalid. Try again.

I'm sure a lot of that is install base not just that X1 owners aren't buying exclusives. I'm sure for the customer base Titanfall and, probably, Sunset Overdrive sold well in comparison. But if you have half the users to market your exclusives then of course they are going to sell worse.

Hopefully Scorpio helps with that install base.

I don't know if it's been mentioned here, but the latest XBL Rewards survey mentions Killer Instinct 3 as "coming soon"
Does it actally say 3? If so, I'm curious how they're going to justify it being the titile.

Killer Instinct

Killer Instinct 2 (Gold for home console port)
Killer Instinct 2013 (which already had 3 seasons)

I guess they technically aren't in the wrong, but it makes much less sense than Mortal Kombat dropping the number for 9 and bringing it back for X. MK had way more games before their reboot to justify it.

Wtf are you talking about, again more stuff spewing out of your ass. Mass Effect: Andromeda isn't exclusive to Microsoft's console, it's multiplatform. A lot of people will play it on Xbox for achievements & Xbox Live multiplayer though. Of course the leading system, PS4, will sell a lot with the games that come out for it. You have a very big install size there. That's just common sense and hilarious that you boast about that. Do you have stock in Sony or something?
The games are everything from Xbox 360 & Xbox One catalog. Well now, shit that's a lot of GAMES. I'll be playing my huge library while you soak up JRPGs on PS4. For the record I like both.

You're wrong! Phil Spencer has been there the entire time. He was at the table when decisions were being made about the Xbox One. He was head of the gaming division which saw cancellation after cancellation of games like Fable Legends and Scalebound and the closing of Studio after Studio and people wonder why Xbox has no games?
You've got to go all the way if you're going to bring up this point. Spencer has been on Xbox since it started, he was under Ed Fries when they were creating the original Xbox, meaning he also had some influence during the good years. It seems pretty obvious that the head of division can have a pretty drastic effect. Compare now to launch or like 6 years ago and the company is in a totally different place. While a few games have been cancelled under him and we're in a bit of a drought, overall I think it's been mostly steps forward for Xbox itself since he took over.

His predecessor is worse by this standard as Mattrick seems to have straight up not allowed a lot of cool stuff to get off the ground, and regulating good studios to making trash for years, like Rare and Lionhead. While we're in a drought of games now, basically the entire last 3 or 4 years of 360 was a first-party wasteland unless you were on board with Kinect.

I'm pretty sure Persona 5 and Nier Automata being multiplatform games helped. Yes Persona 5 is on the PS3 too and yes Nier Automata is on PC too. Although those weeaboo games aren't my taste, the more the selection the better so I do agree Xbox should have more maybe that's why they revealed the Scorpio specs now and still have conference time to show off more things.

Man I remember the last dying days of the 360. All we got was Gears Judgement, while PS3 closed out with a flurry of hellfire like Journey, The Last Of Us, Dragons Crown, etc....it was embarrassing. I was so close to getting a PS3 at the end but I decided to wait for the One instead.

I liked too, I'm a huge Gears fan so I was able to look past its flaws but it was clearly the weakest entry in the series. But it was like the only good exclusive to come out for a period of nearly 2 years.

The right trigger on my controller is starting to squeak, should I be concerned? I know stuff controllers had faulty triggers but I really hope mine isn't one of them.

There's a lot of things wrong with your statement and I'll breakdown as much as I can:

As of January 1, PS4 has sold 53.4 million. Now if we assume that Persona 5 did sell every copy it shipped (1.5 million), that means only 2.8% of PS4 owners bought the game. It's even worse with the other two (1.9% each). Also, you have to remember that all three of the PS4 games you listed are multiplats, so none of those numbers represent sales just for PlayStation 4.

As for Mass Effect, I can't find any sales numbers yet. FFXV has numbers but I can seem to find them separated (if someone wants to help out, latest X1 sales are supposedly at 26 million, but Microsoft doesn't share numbers anymore, so we don't know the total for sure).

Let's take two of the biggest exclusives:

Uncharted 4 sold 8.7 million (16%) compared to Halo 5's pitiful 4.69 million (18%). I would use Gears 4 but I can't find separated numbers between PC and Xbone.

So you see, doing straight comparisons is foolish considering there's around 30 million difference in sales between the two consoles. So if you take attach rates, and factor in the actual amount each console has sold, you'll get the real number of which console users buy more of their exclusives.

Also, shipped =/= sold.

EDIT: Fixed the percentages because I'm an idiot.

Forza Horizon 3 has 4 new Challenges up for the weekend. One of them gets you the AMC Pacer!

If you're like me and usually get killed versus randoms online, I can confirm you can get the Triple Out Challenge in a Drag Race, which few people enter and a S2 980 or higher car with high speed and acceleration can normally get you in the Top 3.
Got the with in the top 3 challenge, my biggest issue is asshats running me off the road. The race I got it in I was in my Lamborghini Urus so yeah they couldn't run me off the road lol (it was cross country too). Got the '68 Hemi Dart Super Sport too, man the thing's a beast.

In a weird way my 3 RROD were at least somewhat responsible for loyalty to the Xbox brand. Yeah they broke but I never paid for any of the repairs and their customer service has always been top notch in my dealings with them. I'm sure not everyone had the same experience though. For myself customer service is very important, it's the reason I buy so many Microsoft products or use Amazon as much as I do. On a side note, how is PlayStation customer service/tech support? I've never heard much about them.
I used my old Xbox 360 a lot and yeah sure enough I got a E74 or whatever which just meant it got way too hot and things melted. Sent it in and waited for the repair process. Got the system back and it just took 6 days and I got the RROD on that system! I sent it back for repair, attached with a note stating I had just sent this in and had to wait without a system in the meantime, was very disappointed in the repair process and to have them please at least give me a refurbished model or something. Low and behold I got a brand new system back, don't know if refurbed but it looked new, and I had that system for a while until I upgraded to the S model. Yeah I've had a good experience with their customer service too. Now Microsoftstore.com on the other hand.

The right trigger on my controller is starting to squeak, should I be concerned? I know stuff controllers had faulty triggers but I really hope mine isn't one of them.
They're supposedly going to do $15 off Xbox Design Lab controllers for this Spring Sale, saw it on their FB page.

Well if they charge $60 for a controller normally I'd say $65 for one you get to design all the colors for is a good deal
People pay MSRP?? Most of mine cost around $30 or so from coupons or holiday deals or whatever.

I tried a few drag races this morning and could not crack top 3. Used his tip to use a S2 class car. Didn't have any as high as he recommended. Used the Jaguar that was a Forzathon rewards recently. Second attempt was a smaller field and got third.

This morning some asshat was purposely trying to wreck the car in front of me. Guy was screaming at him. Was that you? Lol

People are assholes.

Xbox is usually pretty good at the triple A sales, I would really like to see some of the indie stuff go on sale. I didn't grab Rogue Legacy and Binding of Issac forever ago, and I have been filled with regret since.

Yeah, the vast majority of the world pays msrp for just about everything. They are a bunch of suckers.

I paid msrp for my Elite because I just had to have it and had credit, but my other controllers have been $40. I actually think the design lab controller at $65 is a pretty great deal, but if you have no interest in a custom color controller I can see why you'd think it's a waste of money. I might make one for my 5 year old daughter

To be fair I got like 5 or 6 XBox One controllers so I'm not exactly ever on the hunt for more...unless they're you know, $30 or so.

Oh dude, don't try to win drag races, it's basically whoever has the highest PI in that class and some might have a fast tuning setup with their car.

I got the triple challenge with a regular race, just coming into an online adventure race #2. Got 4th overall on that session lol. Then I exited, went to online freeroam and hit the airstrip in the dessert, didn't take too long to do those drag races. All you have to do is complete them which is nice because I totally got smoked by an Ultima 720 GTR while I was in a Mclaren P1 believe it or not. We both had the same PI number too.

Another question:

I have $10 in credit from when I traded in RE4. I'm very tempted to get Civ Revolution while it's on sale now that it's BC, but I haven't played a strategy game like that in a decade. I loved lots of RTS and turn-based strategy games back in the late 90s/early 2000s, but with the spring sale I'm worried about spending my cash before the sale.

What do?

unless they are gonna pull out some real surprises it looks like a run of the mill lineup with blah prices

If I were to lean one way in your shoes I'd probably go with the game you're interested in right now and take a journey back to your younger days

^ Get it, Civ Rev is easily one of the best in the series.

Yeah I know there's a lot of better PC ones in the series but I think they did a good job translating what makes a Civilization game onto consoles. There's various difficulties so pretty much anybody can play it and you can try the harder ones once you've mastered the game. There are also various ways to win, culture, domination, science and economy wins are all there for the taking. Each faction has a strength and it's a very good game. A lot of fun, def pick up, esp with a sale/BC going on.

But be waaarrrnnnedd.

I thought Civ Rev was a total blast. Definitely worth getting now if you missed it as a GWG. Wasted many fun hours on it. Also seems that games that go BC rarely hit their low sales point again.

Day 1 Xbone officially died today. Originally thought it was just the brick, but turns out it's the console itself.

Local Craigslist is full of Xbone S consoles for dirt cheap. Not sure if that's the route I want to go or not…

'Twas a good run

That was before I was a regular subscriber, unfortunately. I started getting annual subs in mid-late 2014.

I want Yooka-Laylee but $40 seems high, I'll wait til it's $20.
I was really excited but I'm going to wait for $20 with the issues it has. Think it's still going to be worth playing and they've apparently already patched the performance up quite a bit so maybe by then they'll have things even smoother and maybe even have worked on the camera some.

That was before I was a regular subscriber, unfortunately. I started getting annual subs in mid-late 2014.
I could have sworn I had it and apparently I got an XB1 two days after it ended which would have been right when I subbed again... :wall:

The right trigger on my controller is starting to squeak, should I be concerned? I know stuff controllers had faulty triggers but I really hope mine isn't one of them.
If your controller just started squeaking, you should be okay. Mine has been squeaking for over a year. Out of 7 controllers, I only use my squeaky one now. It's like it quietly (not literally obviously) grew on me and became my go to controller.

I know this doesn't guarantee anything but it's proof that the squeaking doesn't always scream imminent death for your controller. Mine is the right trigger as well.

I remember having N64 controllers with 10 different rewired spots in the cord wrapped with electrical tape, the joystick flopped around, all the buttons had food and bodily fluids sticking them and you had to mess with the jiggly joystick so you didn't end up only being able to go one direction when you turned the machine on

and now people be worrying about a little clickety clack in the trigger

word. best post in ten pages.

Co-signing the Civ Rev love. A worthy buy for sure.

Also, I'm not blown away by anything in the spring sale video, but I'm hoping that with a few hundred sale titles some good indie stuff will be on sale. Hoping for a discount on Stardew Valley.

There's a lot of things wrong with your statement and I'll breakdown as much as I can:

I don't really have a horse in this particular race, but since no one else has pointed it out, I thought I'd mention that you need to move the decimal two places over on your percentages. Uncharted's sales to 16% of the user base, for instance, is a lot more significant than a piddly .16% would be.

Saw this a few days ago. Apparently it is the current version with updated graphics for Scorpio/PC rather than a new game

https://www.reddit.com/r/killerinstinct/comments/638hla/ki_3_confirmed/
So are these updates free? Sorry if It's a dumb question, but I saw during the Scorpio reveal that Forza was "ported" at 4k etc with 4k assets. Does that means massive patch or we have to re-buy these games?

Man I remember the last dying days of the 360. All we got was Gears Judgement, while PS3 closed out with a flurry of hellfire like Journey, The Last Of Us, Dragons Crown, etc....it was embarrassing. I was so close to getting a PS3 at the end but I decided to wait for the One instead.
The end of the 360 was awful for a lot of us, but not so much for MS. They rode that Kinect train till the end and it did well for them. Of course we all know how well the Kinect worked for the X1 launch. It was a disaster. Higher price, less power. That and the PR blunder put the X1 behind the PS4 since day one.

Also, I got my Fable Fortune beta key this morning.

It's a Steam key though.
Is the game any good?

Civilization Revolution is probably my most played game ever. I bought it from Blockbuster back in 2008 after trading in clearance copies of Hail to the Chimp I think. I've pretty much been playing it several hours a week since then, only stopped last year when I left my xbox 360 at a family member's house. Now that it's BC, I'm addicted again, already wasted 2 nights this week playing Game of the Week.

Shit. I didn't realize I forgot to change the decimal to percent for each of them. Thanks for pointing it out.

Kranky Kong, is that you?!

I am only 8+ years late but Saints Row 2 is brilliant.  It makes me sad I spent so much of my time back then trying to like GTA IV instead of playing this game instead.

Great. Now you guys are making me think about getting Civ Rev. I have no idea how I missed it when it was GwG. I alteady have it on PS3 but cheevos and BC make it tempting.

About the Xbox exclusives, I'm part of the problem. I got Halo 5 and ME Andromeda at launch, but I still passed on Quantum Break when it was under 30 a couple of weeks ago. It seemed like a game I'd enjoy, and I loved Alan Wake, but I'm still hesitant on new IPs. I'd be on board for a new Splinter Cell though.

I picked up Tropico during one of the previous sales and liked it a lot. That said, CivRev is one of my all time favorites. It's just awesome all the way around.
