Never understood this custom, but seems like a lot of people like to go back to their favorite spooky/Halloween games around Halloween time. I'll be playing AC Brotherhood and Sine Mora.
Doesn't the main character in the AC series generally wear a costume while sneaking up on and killing lots of people?

I kept holding off on State of Decay, but I guess I'll just get it now. I hate paying full price though, especially at $20.

Looks like Halo: Spartan Assault is coming to the 360 and the One in December.

https://blogs.halowaypoint.com/Headlines/post/2013/10/29/Spartan-Assault-is-coming-to-Xbox-One-and-Xbox-360.aspx

"With over 30 stimulating missions at your fingertips, play longer than ever with the all-new online Co-op mode and the Operation Hydra expansion that delivered an action-packed addition to the single player campaign. "
I don't know what else to spend my $10.xx credit on, so I might as well get this, though I'm sure it will be $15. It does look pretty cool and I like that they have coop. I hope not JUST online, but also offline.

If anyone else needs a push over the edge to get The Darkness-Mike Patton does the creatures voice in both games.
Love me some mr bungle/faith no more/tomahawk/lovage/......
Darkness 2 seemed to have some fairly fleshed out non campaign and multiplayer parts to it. I didn't play too much but it seemed interesting
Annnd sold! FNM are one of my all time faves.

If you've never played The Darkness, 5 bucks for the 1st game and 7.50 for the 2nd are great prices on them. I recommend both pretty highly.

The 2nd is an easy 1000/1000 too

I also highly recommend The Darkness. Very good game, definitely one of my favorites this gen.

Prey is worth $5, Gamestop sells it used for $0.99 if your're lucky enough to find it.

I don't even give a damn about Magic and the first thing I thought upon seeing that acronym was "Friday Night Magic." Ah... memories. (But yes, I know what you meant)

My XBLA purchases have been few and far between lately - I've been pushing myself away from most sales, telling myself these things would surely be 50% off again within the next few months or so. Couldn't help caving on the Walking Dead DLC though (gotta have the full haul) and Skulls of the Shogun - seems like the latter will fill a "somewhat-relaxed time sink" void for me.

The gamestop closest to me has a $10 and under bin where the only games they have in there is Prey and Bulletstorm.

Definitely permanent, also dropped to $10 on PSN permanently.
Yep thought so. No sale here...

On another note my Bucaneer Edition of AC 4 came today....kinda excited to play the new game but will wait until the end of the month because you know what happenend to people who played GTA V early lol...or downloaded free games...used Gold Months or simply using 2 consoles etc...you get the picture lol

EDIT: Okay it seems it is safe to play today somehow I thought Official release is 31 October...good to go then...

P.S. @tyler I actually liked AC Brotherhood...but I wish they never had started this MP crap...it just doesn't seem to fit in the AC Series and there's no point playing it (only thing I hate about AC Brotherhood is that it has the worst MP Achievements..I already finished AC3 MP and nearly all of Revelations but not the MP of ACB lol)

The scariest game I ever played was Ride to Hell: Retribution that game is so terrible and broken it's horrifying.

I feel the same way. Was hoping it would drop in price due to the holiday but I suppose that's not going to happen for a while . The wait continues...

I paid $20 and there's no regrets. It's an amazingly fun game to play, especially it being almost open world where you can do whatever without having to just follow the story along.

As long as you don't mind some glitches and pretty shitty graphics, I highly recommend you get it.

I'll throw in my praise for The Darkness games. I'm sure the gameplay of the first is slightly dated by now, but I remember being blown away by the story. Surprisingly moving moments in there. The sequel is much improved from a gameplay perspective with a less interesting story (still pretty good, though).

Also, I just noticed that xbox.com has been redesigned. Has a definite Windows 8 vibe now (for better or worse.. probably worse).

Once I saw it wasn't on sale I went ahead and bought. It may be the first arcade game I paid full price, so that's how I'm justifying my lack of self control! :)

Just had this exact same conversation with a friend. I hate multiplayer trophies/achievements in games that are really single player games with MP tacked on. (Assassin's Creed, Bioshock 2, the new Batman game, etc.) I never bother getting them, but it sucks starting up the game knowing fully that I'll never 100% it.

Microsoft continues to disappoint more and more.

Thankfully I have friends in the Steam family sharing beta and have been playing their games instead. I'm scared to know what December and January bring for our sales after the One is released if they don't care about the system this much already.

Vote with your wallet and all that?

The mall/department store level is legitimately creepy.

The second game is arguably solid until the ending.
That part definitely was freaky, I remember being on edge the entire time, never knowing where the next threat might come from, jumping at the slightest sound.

It's really good! This was first game that i completed at 100%. Doesn't have 1000 points from what i remember.
Yeah, it has 960, don't know why they didn't just spread an extra 40 points around somewhere. First time I played it years ago, I just went through the game, this time I'm trying to get all the collectibles to 100% it.

The new xbox.com is dog slow. Maybe everybody is checking it out at the same time.

I don't yet know if it now shows your credit balance - it still says "loading…"

I'm not sure me not buying the games really screams to them "Don't put trophies in the multiplayer part of your game if your game is generally considered to be a single player game!"

I also do vote with my wallet. I got AC Bro and AC Rev from Best Buy for $10, I never actually paid for Bioshock 2 (borrowed from cousin then later free on PS+), and Arkham Origins is at least 6 months away from me owning it.

I just re-read your comment and I think you may have misunderstood what I said. When I say "I never bother getting them", I mean I never bother getting the multiplayer trophies in games. I definitely still get the games at the right price.

Just noticed the Microsoft currency cards at my local Target and Best Buy.

I take it that you can enter these new Microsoft currency cards, just like points cards did, on a 360? Also saw some 1600 points cards, do those still work?

I still like the  game themed designs on the points cards more.  I still prefer not to use a credit card with my consoles.  Thanks ahead.

Nope, it doesn't. Xbox.com is useless to me - hell we cannot add a free demo to account download queue anymore, without having credit card information.

MSP codes can still be redeemed, it just converts them to currency

As for Assassin's Creed MP, I found it rather fun for being tacked on and unnecessary. It offered something new besides the traditional competitive shooter or something.

Now if only Microsoft can put them on sale. iTunes cards go on sale @ 20% off every few months on eBay/Best Buy. Not sure if Apple approves or retailers just say "screw it" and put them on sale.

Yeah I feel the same...Games that meant to be SP Games should be just that....but more and more games seem to force the MP part even if it's not needed...EA stated that they won't do Games anymore without MP parts...I have nothing against MP in general, but please stop focing us to go through this if it it doesn't seem necessary...

If you redeem a points card (as opposed to currency card) do you get any bonus credit? I'm referring here to how they gave us some bonus funds when the converted our existing points to currency.

Kind of beside the point but I need to respectfully disagree with Assassins Creed being in that list, the AC series multiplayer is one of the freshest and coolest multiplayer games I've played this generation

The game that scared the shit outta me was Batman Arkham Asylum. When Scarecrow 'hacks' the game my heart stopped for a second XD Damn RRoD trauma...

I'm in total agreement about that, though I did like Brotherhood's the best. I just wish you could vote out people that run and play it like COD or Halo.

Anyone else want to weigh in on The Darkness I vs II?
This might not be of much help, since I never played Darkness I (to compare them).

But I really didn't enjoy Darkness II at all. I see alot of people praising that game (not just in this thread, but on other boards in the past), and I just didn't get this praise at all. It's a relatively short, story driven FPS. I think it's probably about 5 hours? But the kicker to me I remember being that there were so many sections you were forced to just "slow walk" through without game-play, maybe forced to interact with characters in a linear way (i.e. you have to walk around and find the ONE guy you need to talk to in order to proceed). So even at 5 hours it felt like they artificially stretched it out an extra hour by slowing you down, which actually got quite annoying after awhile.

I don't even remember much about the story since I pretty much zoned it out by the time I reached the games ending. I suppose for $7.50 it's probably still worth it, but it isn't as clear-cut as some people are making it out. It could be worth it as I believe there are other modes to play, and I honestly never explored anything else about the game beyond a single playthrough. However I never felt like it gave me a reason to.

Both games are great, the 1st will feel very dated, both graphic wise and gameplay wise, it's pretty slow.

The 1st game's story is better, and some even say the voice of The Darkness sounds better even though it's the same actor in both. Jackie has a different voice actor in 2 though.

2's story isn't as great but the gameplay overall was much, much better.

Also, 2 is linear whereas 1 is a mix between open world hubs and linear missions.

Also, 1 is one of the few games to explore World War 1 as opposed to WW2, so I thought that part was pretty cool

I'll just say in favor of TD1, leaving bulletholes in your enemies hasnt been so satisfying since Soldier of Fortune.

It has a much more gritty feel to it too.

I was digging The Suffering until the gameplay got repetitive and boring halfway in. I give them credit for allowing you to switch between first and third person and having multiple endings.

Manhunt I liked more since they allowed you to kill in different ways. I was disappointed with the ending though.

I think most of these horror games are disturbing more than scary. Silent Hill has disturbing images that make me uncomfortable but I would not say I was scared. The only Resident Evil game that has truly scared me so far (I haven't played RE4 onward) was the GameCube remake with the redone graphics and music and those "super zombies" that run after you when you think you killed them for good.

Another scary game for me -  Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. I've never been so scared to view a memory card screen.

The game that does it for me in scares and disturbed emotions is Dead Space. While playing Dead Space 2, it was the first time I was both horrified and thrilled to be killed off in a video game.

Darkness and The Darkness 2: Doesn't work with me. I tried the demos again months later when people recommended it and I can't get into it.

Anyway, just Dead Island for me this week. I have the disc so I have no problem switching it with a digital version for $10. I like the open world setup and it's so much fun to get into a truck and just plow through zombies Walking Dead style. Having a large assortment of weapons and attacks is even sweeter.

My Halloween game is Alan Wake: American Nightmare.

I bought the game almost 2 years ago and am just getting into completing it. Of course, some State of Decay will be thrown in there as well because, well, zombies.
