This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

EDF 2017 and 2025 are orders of magnitude better than Insect Armageddon. IA is severely grindy, with overly long stages and bullet sponge enemies who take way too long to kill. The story is awful and the voice acting is atrocious, and not in a good way. That said, it's still fun for a bit - till the boredom sets in.
If you do buy it on the cheap, don't hold the game's issues against the rest of the series. Did I mention EDF 2025 is super good?
^This

I played Insect Armageddon with a friend and after 2 hours it felt like a chore to beat the game. But the first 2 hours were fun, maybe its just that me and my friend got burnt out by playing the game non stop until we beat it.

With that said I really want to get 2025 as soon as it goes on sale.

Gameplay-wise, I don't think Retro City Rampage is worth the $7.50.  I just never found it all that fun.  Tons of pseudo fetch-quests and the controls in the game don't work all that well.  It can be a pretty random and funny game at times though, and it absolutely slams you with references non-stop.  Still, $5 or less is probably the sweetspot for it.

Unsure if I want to pick up Foul Play here or on the Vita when its released. Seems like I game I may actually play portable rather than perma backlog it on the console.

I can understand that mentality because of the genre. Is there an ETA for the Vita version? Due to the graphics and the Vita's prior performance, I would assume the Vita will be able to handle it as well as the 360 version, yeah?

If so, then just go ahead and wait. Good Vita ports that are suited for handhelds should be supported so more come in the future (read: not Borderlands 2)

Anybody know if there's a new XBLA release this week?

Don't forget that Foul Play also has 2-player local and online co-op. Does the Vita version support co-op as well?

Picked up SC5 (been reading as Star Craft 5 all night). Really want Eternal Sonata but missed out on the last sale and haven't started Tales of Vesperia. I should just wait it out right?

Hahaha, I thought that I had SCIV, so I was going to get SCV on the cheap BUT it turns out that what I own is the disk version of SCV, so my HDD can breath in relief. Still tempted by Giana sisters, but I think it's going to be a pass, let's see what will be on sale next week.

Also, Sanctum 2 just had a $5 DLC come out last month, if you're interested after picking up Sanctum 2.
It's not available in the marketplace yet (or it was and was removed?).

$2.50 or bust. My backlog tells me I can wait for a sale like this (even if it never happens).

Thanks for the info on IA, everyone. Yeah, I was originally tempted to get it to experience an EDF game for the first time (got curious after I watched Matt and Pat play it) but I'll hold out until I can get one of the other two. Thanks =]

EDIT: Really was hoping there'd be a cascade of news for the 360 version of Titanfall when I checked after launch today, but nothing so far I take it? Much disappoints.

So I guess I don't have to worry about buying anything this week. I would love to be playing Titanfall but, oh well.

P.S. If you want to just laugh/giggle for a little bit onto metacritic and read the negative reviews for Titanfall  Some of the best (worst?) fanboy reviews I've ever seen.

When I tried the Hexodius demo a few months back, I thought it was a pretty good indie game but got a bit boring after not long enough, so I decided to pass on buying it for $1...then I realized while deleting it that it was actually a $10 XBLA game! I laughed and laughed....and laughed...

I miss RadianGames.

Hmm, I was curious about Sanctum 2 when it first released. Anyone think its worth it if you're going solo? I don't know when I would get around to playing it but I imagine the community will be pretty dead when I do.

No, it's absolutely tuned for multiplayer and you'll hit a difficulty wall if you don't play with others. Great game otherwise, but the difficulty is frustrating.

Thanks for the Tip. I've had my eye on this since release but I'm pretty sure that none of my friends will buy it so I will skip it.

Capsized is the bomb even though its glitched, trust me if you're into crafty platformers you'll like it + it has this amazing "I'm stuck on alien planet' feeling to it.

; /  wait what!?  SCV is under $4!!!

OK guys, I'm off to add yet another awesome title to my DQ list  :D

What the hell is going on in your Avatar?

It was removed. http://xbldb.com/offers/006-fa8. Sorry, I should have checked. I have no idea why it was removed, they were following up on a promise to bring the first 2 DLCs from Steam to Xbox. Maybe they're re-releasing it with more content?

I'm pretty sure the delay was due to the Xbox One emphasis, Microsoft did the same with Spartan Assault. It's still early in the life cycle of the Xbox One so I don't think you're going to see a huge difference. Yeah same thing when we went from Xbox to Xbox 360.

Comment sections aren't exactly a valid source for information, especially it appears, for this game.
and that the game is now less than 2 weeks from launch without any information about 360 version. I think it will still be better than your average shooter, but performance will suffer greatly.

My gut is telling me that the Xbox 360 version looks and plays great, and Microsoft is keeping that relatively quiet because they want more people to feel the need to splurge on an Xbone.

I just wonder if it will have a mandatory 10 gig HDD install or something ridiculous.

And here I almost forgot how great it was to have you around for questions, Mr. Professional Reviewer. Thanks for the heads-up.

They're just focusing their marketing on the Xbone version, so the 360 version doesn't cannibalize the sales. The 360 version is an afterthought that was probably demanded for by EA. I'm sure Microsoft would rather pretend it doesn't exist at all.

Any idea if Sanctum 2 XBLA was ever patched to the shared resources system and increased tower pool that the PC version has had for so long? I'm tempted to double dip on this with a friend, but I've been waiting to hear if the old mechanics were getting patched out of this version. Last I saw on the developer blog is that it was in certification and along with DLC 1 and 2 being combined into one big package.

The only thing that amazes more than people defending a game they didnt play is people buying a console only for that game.

Except people played the beta. And I don't see anyone defending Titanfall in here or any actual criticism against Titanfall. Either say something relevant to the conversation/thread or get your whiny shit out of here.

A shitload of people have played the Titanfall beta. And who said they were buying a One just for Titanfall? It's not like people are going to have a $500 system which they only ever play one game on. I suspect a lot of people who are buying Ones for Titanfall are also interested in many of the exclusives coming down the road.

I hope so. I think this is why I stopped playing.

However I think they are "busy" with Goat Simulator.

Except people played the beta. And I don't see anyone defending Titanfall in here or any actual criticism against Titanfall. Either say something relevant to the conversation/thread or get your whiny console war shit out of here.
I couldn't care less about console war, and what i said could be applied to any major launch of any next-gen console. It shocks me the acceptance mood towards an unreleased and first-timer franchise, people should be more cautious and it can't be denied that Titanfall is the current (only?) exclusive game hook for the xbone. Why the rush? But i'm not here to flame the thread, keep having a good time.

I agree with you, I think it's too early to adopt next-gen, but your post was completely unrelated to the current conversation, was wrong and implied that people who are excited for Titanfall are idiots.

As for why the rush? It's because marketing, both consoles have sold mainly on marketing hype alone. And I'd have to disagree with you, Killer Instinct is a pretty good exclusive as well. The rest are varying degrees of "okay".

Actually Titanfall isn't even an exclusive.

As for the console war stuff, I jumped the gun and I realized that as soon as I posted (post was edited within about a minute), but I've seen a lot of Sonyfan-based TitanFAIL stuff today and that was just my kneejerk reaction.

Not sure. They did release DLC 1 and 2 as a big package, but then they removed it. http://xbldb.com/offers/006-fa8 So I'm not sure if they included the patch as a separate entity or not (it's not like they would remove a patch).

Guess we'll have to wait for a guinea pig.

I'd add Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3, and Project Spark (although PS is still in a somewhat open beta). Other exclusives haven't been too appealing yet. DR3 has gotten somewhat boring after a few months, but still best zombie game. Killer Instinct is still fresh, but I wish 360 fightsticks would work with it. Titanfall still fresh. Project Spark has infinite replay value. Maybe too much replay value, if that is even possible.

I'm super jelly about those that get to play Titanfall today. Friday feels so far away. Sounds like launch went pretty smoothly, so late beta wasn't a waste of time.

I actually forgot that today was Titanfall day. I thought it was dropping on March 18 along with Final Fantasy X HD for some reason. So I assume everything's going smoothly on the first day? I haven't heard about any Battlefield-style debacle.

I've been playing since getting it at the Midnight Launch and it's been working fine/perfect for me. Haven't had a server problem yet.
