This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

My sister's a massive Tomb Raider fan, which means that I've got lying around (and well, not gonna lie, I also like the games) all the Tomb Raider/Lara Croft games. Given the sales, I'll give my 2 cents on all the content on sale right now:
So for people new to Tomb Raider, would you recommend playing Anniversary before Legend and Underworld since it's a prequel or go at them in the order they were released? And just to make this more tricky, where would you recommend the GoL playthrough go?

Because it's awesome. Well, never played the Genesis version, but I can only hope or assume that if you touch a monkey in that one you still turn into a robot. Just like how I assume that's the law of the world in real life as well.
In the real world (as Michael Jackson also found out) you get in trouble for constantly touching your monkey.

So my really awesome girlfriend bought me Injustice Ultimate Edition for Xmas. She lost the gift but found it and it was given to me on my way to work...

My question is this, is there any DLC I need to grab or is it all included on disc? I was bummed to see no booklet or download sleeve in it.

I would say that the order of release (Legend - Anniversary - Underworld) is fine, considering Anniversary did bring a couple gameplay changes to the mix, which could be bothersome going back to Legend: granted, these are minor, just a couple extra moves that you wouldn't be using in Legend anyway, so even going Anniversary - Legend - Underworld does make sense. I do, however, recommend beginning with Legend: it's one of the finest episodes altogether, whereas beginning with the less interesting Anniversary could make you not want to play more. But it really is down to preference: Legend has more action, Anniversary has more "you're on your own, find your way" exploration of the earlier Tomb Raiders. Underworld does a brilliant job of recapping the storyline for both games however, and will basically unite those two storylines and continue them both - not just Legend as one might reasonably think, both games end up relevant to the storyline, though it's mainly Legend that you need to play to understand the story behind Underworld. So if you were to skip one, Anniversary probably is the best one, but considering you can get the entire trilogy for 20$ (plus GoL for free), I recommend it big time. If I'm not mistaken, Underworld had a demo up: for those undecided, that's a good trial since the gameplay for the three games did not change dramatically.

As for Guardian of Light, obviously it's free so not playing it is not even an option. It's a completely separate storyline from the above-mentioned trilogy, even though as look and voice go it is based on her (keep in mind Lara Croft had multiple reboots in the look as well, from the darker Angel Of Darkness to the younger Tomb Raider 2013). The gameplay is completely different, it is essentially a twin stick shooter with exploration and tons of action: almost like a hack n' slash (with guns rather than swords), but what makes it different from the masses is that the levels are big, with tons of secrets, much exploration, tombs to solve, etc.. It plays differently, very differently, though you do similar things as far as actions go. So I say that you can play this anytime: before, inbetween, during, after all the other games, it makes no difference whatsoever because it's like jumping from Uncharted to Geometry Wars; too different to get confused between the controls. And, as mentioned, the storyline is a self-contained story that has no links whatsoever with any other Tomb Raider game, older or newer it may be. This one is especially recommended for the coop: so if you've got someone to play it with (it has both online and local coop), jump on it because it is the only Lara Croft game with real coop action.

Haha, what's not to like about jump puzzles with horrible camera angles? :p

The latest one was definitely the best of the series, in fact I'd recommend it. Good story and it's just a fun play.
Thanks, it seems the latest is the favourite for most people. Thanks to Baboy's quick review for the games too.

It's been on sale since the beginning of the month, I guess that's why it wasn't picked up.

P.S. I'm sorry to do this but it's latest*
I forgot it was on sale since the beginning of the month :p Ok, "latest" then, my fault. English is not my main language so I don't mind being corrected (but don't over do it :oldman: ).

Thanks to Baboy for all the great input! I love legend, but never played anniversary or underworld. Based on your feedback I think I'm just going to skip straight to underworld. I really don't think you're selling the new tomb raider enough though. To me, is really one of the absolute best games of this generation and worth getting at any price.

The new Tomb Raider is really great. Some of the best graphics of its generation, and better gunplay than Uncharted. It doesn't stand up to Uncharted when it comes to story and characters (not even close), but for gameplay it matches or exceeds it. Bow kills = so satisfying.

It is an amazing game, but the price has been lower, plus it's a game that's been discussed to death on this thread. You can find it cheaper than 20$ pretty easily, which is why I'm not recommending buying it right now at that price.

Anyone know how the TR games compare to the HD Trilogy release on PS3, re: visuals?  I have Underworld on 360, but I think I played Legend and Anniversary on PS2.

Sorry to keep harping on about this but has anyone got the AC Liberations HD discount to work? It still hasn't shown up on my dashboard and I redownloaded the season pass 3 times and restarted my console.

Still showing full price for me as well. I haven't been able to test trying to buy it through a dashboard ad as I haven't had an ad for it pop up.

I don't have AC4, but all season pass "sales" can only be used through the game itself. There are no items that change the price of content, and in fact buying the season pass still makes so that you see every item included in it as full price on the Xbox marketplace - but if you go in the game, you'll see the new price. So my guess is you need to turn on AC4, and somewhere in the marketplace there should be Liberation, even though it is not a DLC.

There have already been reports that the discounted price doesn't show up when going into AC4.

The way I've been reading on how to get the discount is through ONLY the dashboard ad.

Seemed bizarre that noone checked that, but I don't recall anyone saying that on this thread so I shared my two cents. In either case I'm pretty sure the discount will be useable through the game, because (Live Gold aside) nothing you buy changes the prices of the Xbox Marketplace.

It's a new thing they've been doing but they've already shown buying certain things can change the price of other things. For instance if you already owned Halo:SA on WP then it was cheaper when you purchased it on X1. There is also already confirmation by people this is how this one works as well. For some reason it's just not working yet for some people though and many have said that attempting to purchase through a dashboard ad fixes it but I can't get one to show up.

I wasn't aware there have been cases of said price changes on X360, I assumed it wasn't even possible, otherwise all season passes would have done it rather than putting giant warnings saying "don't buy the content on the Xbox Marketplace!". It would be great if MS found a way to make this the standard, so when you grab a season pass you don't necessarily have to boot the game to start downloading the DLCs, and you don't mistake pass content, risking to buy stuff again.

Yeah, this must be a brand new thing, because prior to now all season passes have used the kludge you describe where you have to buy content from each game's in-game store rather than the XBLM to get the correct discount. I don't think DLC season passes were something MS envisioned as a possibility when they were initially setting up the architecture for XBLM. If they can get this functionality working in the marketplace in general, rather than having to be implemented within games, that'll make things a lot simpler.

Actually, if they can do this now, it opens up some neat possibilities for bundle deals and stuff like that. Maybe a discount on Mass Effect 6 if you purchased all the DLC for 4 and 5, that kind of thing.

After searching around a bit more it looks like what mossfan563 said may be right it may only be discounted through a specific ad that some of us can't get to show up so I wouldn't hold out hope how season passes currently work will change for all X360 content.  I think it would be possible to work that way on X1 though since I believe the Halo: SA discount was automatic and not through a certain ad.

EXOR Studios told me that Zombie Driver HD #XBLA to be delisted due to their publisher's dissolution. The date should be announced soon.
Looks like Zombie Driver HD is getting delisted soon. There are little chances to be re-released later, but i wouldn't hold my breath.

If it's 70% off or so, I'll get it. If not...my backlog won't notice.

It's a good game, I bought it back when it came out and it's fun. It gets repetitive after a couple hours, but it's mad fun, not too different from Death Rally. Worth the 10 bucks or so it's sold at. I hope they pull off a last minute sale for it so I pick up the DLC.

Zombie Driver is one of the few XBLA games I've bought day one. Games like that have me hold out hope one day we will see a new Carmageddon. (Nothing beats the 2nd. Up the Irons!)

Been a while since I played it, but it is a nice little distraction and an enjoyable title to pick up and play whenever. It could get repetitive if you try playing it one go which I wouldn't recommend however (even though I did that with my motivation to hit top 10 to complete it on TA). Achievements weren't bad either and have a nice mix to them.

Trying to pick up Assassin's Creed Liberation, but can't manage to find the advertisement on the Games Tab to get the discounted price. I picked up the Season Pass on the 30th.

I keep getting GTA V, The Walking Dead, and Minecraft.

Is there any way to cycle through the ads? I've tried shutting off my Xbox and turning it back on, as well as playing my disk and returning to the dashboard, but to no avail.

EDIT: I got bored and decided to start Black Flag. Loaded up the game and looked at the Uplay section. Went back to dashboard to install disk to hard drive, and the ad popped up with the discounted price.

Hit the guide button and then hit Y to return to the dashboard. It refreshes the ads, unfortunately you might have to do it several times as it sucks at putting new ads. I was doing this a while ago to get the call of duty grappling hook ad.

Anybody use the grid to find the ad?

Anybody play the Darksiders 2 DLC - Death Rides, the Demon Lord and Abyssal Forge? If so is it worth it if you liked the main game?

Also is Arcania complete ever coming out in the U.S.? was checking everywhere and only see mentions of it coming out in August, which it hasn't. Played the demo and I liked it. Didn't notice the 20fps problems everybody seems to say it has. Thinking of getting the dlc in case i find the regular version for cheap.

Also hoping the Tomb Raider GoL DLC goes on sale next week. Are the challenge packs like the man game or are they annoying challenges like the ones in HELL YEAH!?

Anybody on my question regarding Injustice Ultimate Edition and DLC
Anyone ever tell that you're either incredibly bad at researching things, or just plain lazy? You'll post twice asking a question instead of at least consulting Wikipedia? C'mon son.

Smack in the middle of the wiki page:
Ultimate Edition
The Ultimate Edition of the game, which includes all previously released downloadable contentwas released on November 12 and 29, 2013 in the United States and Europe, respectively. This version of the game is available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, and PlayStation Vita. Netherealm has since confirmed that after the release of the Ultimate Edition, there will be no more DLC characters.

GWG are awesome this month...at least when you compare them to December.
I had neither of last december games (Gears 1 and Shoot many robots), so it was ok to me. But yeah, this month is amazing (already had Lara Croft GoL though).

I'm also curious about the Darksiders 2 DLC (though admittedly have yet to even boot the main game.)

Re Arcania, how far in the demo did you get? I played until the witch, and found the game extremely linear for an RPG - anyone know if that is typical of the whole game? Graphics were passable, and it seems to have some crafting in the form of alchemy and cooking. Combat was simple but ok, but I'm probably going to skip this game in favor of my backlog if it's as linear as it seems.

Still holding out for a Mass Effect & Rock Band sale. Seems like I've gotten to the point where I have everything that goes on sale, whether it's deal of the week, publisher sales or games with gold. Sad days.....

This is where I'm at. Been sitting on a sealed copy forever, but I'll fire it up before the end of the sale to try it and see if I'd be interested in the DLC. Everything I've read though is that the DLC adds very little to the experience.

There's a few reviews online. From what I read, the short-version is Death Rides is mostly non-compelling and short side-quests. Demon Lord is better than Abysmal Forge, but both are short. I loved Darksiders II, but I didn't feel it was worth revisiting for the DLC once I read the reviews.

Guys, play the base DS2 game before getting the DLC. I played through the game and when it was over, I had enough. I wasn't at all wanting to revisit that world. The game is fine but it's no Skyrim.

The Ass Creed Lib thing reminds me of how the Battlefield 4 beta worked: you boot up the game and then when you go back to the dashboard it has an ad/block for downloading the item.

Which Tomb Raider game is most recommended that's on sale (not including the free one or newest one)? Since Target doesn't have alcohol, I spent the gift card on Xbox credits. Now I have too much Xbox moneys to spend.

My Gold ran out on the 15th and I don't want to restart it since I already have LC: GOL. I bought Legend when it was $5 and hoping Anniversary and Underworld will drop down to that later but $1.79 diff isn't that much. Should I or shouldn't I? Btw, TR is no longer on sale and is back to $29.99.

I'll quote an earlier rundown on the Tomb Raider sales I've wrote the other day.

My sister's a massive Tomb Raider fan, which means that I've got lying around (and well, not gonna lie, I also like the games) all the Tomb Raider/Lara Croft games. Given the sales, I'll give my 2 cents on all the content on sale right now:

Lara Croft and the Guardian Of Light: This game is currently FREE for Gold Members on Games With Gold, so at that price there's absolutely no reason to miss it. This is a spin-off to the Tomb Raider series, and in fact while the exploration and the combat are still in over exotic places and such, this is actually a very clever and brilliant twin-stick shooter. With a view from above, this does feel a bit bizarre for a Lara Croft game, but the controls are tight, the action's frantic and satisfying, the graphics surprisingly great for an XBLA. It also has a brilliant coop for 2 people, which is different enough from the single player as both characters have different abilities - and even the puzzles change between the two game modes. The game is also extremely replayable, thanks to tons of secondary objectives to missions, and the hunt for high scores is also a great incentive to go back. It's got plenty of depth and it's very polished, both single and coop this game's great. The DLCs don't seem to be on sale: there's two which add Kane & Lynch and Soul Reaver characters, so obviously these ones are extremely recommended if you're fan of these sagas because even all cutscenes are redone and dubbed to fit the new characters. The rest of the DLCs are okay extra challenges, if you love the game get 'em, but they're nothing special. For free, you can't miss it.

Tomb Raider Legend: This is the first game of the previous trilogy of Tomb Raider games, and also the first to come out on the previous generation of consoles. When it came out, it had one of the finest graphics, obviously it didn't age all that well but the water effects and such look still great. The gameplay's pretty good - gone is the insane difficulty and loss of direction from older games for better or worse, controls help you pull out the tricks you want to, and while there's plenty of platforming and puzzling still, the action is much more prominent than older Tomb Raider games, though with auto-lock on enemies, most fighting sequences aren't really that hard. The game is surprisingly linear for a TR game, and while it does have somewhat well-hidden secrets from time to time, it's pretty straight-forward. It is in many ways a welcome modern version of the saga, as there's plenty of new ideas, different places, a better than usual storyline and even plenty of costumes - though the linearity may bother some. It is a great game, one of the finest TR games around. 6.79$ is a good price per se, though the game was on sale for 5$ as well a while ago. The game's got more than enough content to justify the price anyway.

Tomb Raider Anniversary: Second game of the previous trilogy, this is effectively acting as a prequel (and as such, it does insert itself into the canon for the trilogy, despite remaking the very first game from 1996). Rather than a proper remake, this is a spiritual remake of the first Tomb Raider game: the storyline is more or less intact, as are the locations and most of the things you do, but it's also updated to Tomb Raider Legend's visuals, gameplay, and the levels are only similar to the old game, things to actually do and puzzles are different, so think of this like more Legend. It is, however, not as brilliant as Legend: while this game is more open, with more complicated puzzles (finally), some of the modern aspects (like the radio) from Legend are unfortunately gone, and this particular game relies a bit too much on pulling off very specific moves like dodging and climbing, which in hindsight seems like all you do in this game. If you love the saga, you can't miss this one because from a storyline perspective it's important, but out of all the games, I'd recommend this one the least. Still, it's once again 6.79$ which is apparently the lowest price on it, and with again plenty of content I can't say it's not worth it.

Tomb Raider Underworld: Final chapter of the trilogy, Underworld continues the story as Legend left it (as Anniversary was a prequel). This is the true sequel to Legend: bigger, better, while never really revolutionizing what Legend offered. It does have a more refined gameplay, better puzzles (about time), bigger areas, more things to do, better hidden secrets, and the storyline is finally closed in this one so it's worth getting. From today's point of view, out of this trilogy, Underworld is probably the finest, with it being the most up-to-date game around. Again, plenty of variety and depth so it's worth getting, though I'd mention that this one does have a couple glitches which I did encounter while trying to solve some puzzles, which usually happen when you try to think "outside of the box" to solve something. Nothing gamebreaking though, hilariously enough in a level I've found a glitch which denied me progress, then I managed to find another glitch which made so that I could continue anyway. But these idiocies aside (which might have even been fixed with patches), this game's totally worth it. 6.79$ is, again, the lowest price for it, so I can definitely recommend it.

Tomb Raider (2013): Discussed to death probably, this game is a mixture of Tomb Raider elements and some of the best features from modern gaming. It is the first open world Tomb Raider, and in fact shares a lot of similarities with the Batman Arkham series (places reachable only with certain gadgets you later unlock, secrets to find by maps, and so on), Far Cry 3 (hunting for example), and even Dark Souls (with the bonfires). The action is a mixture of what Tomb Raider games used you to get, and what Uncharted games give you - and as such, it's the first TR game without auto-lock on enemies, you have to take your aim on your own. The puzzles are not many but they're good, but the exploration, the level of interaction and unpredictability of events is great, and while many things are scripted, it's a truly impressive experience. Going with a young Lara through this journey of nightmares is really thrilling, and you really learn to feel for her. It's a mature game with tons of quality gameplay and things to do. It's even got a multiplayer which is nothing special however, but do get this for the single player. A couple dozens of hours of gameplay can come out of it if trying to get 100% completion, though the game was already cheaper and will likely be so again than the current 20$. It is one of the best games of 2013 though, so you don't exactly waste your money by getting it at this price either.

I'm sorry, how is a repetitive game "mad fun"? Repetitive games are mad boring to me.
Just saw this post: anyway, it is a lot of fun, but the storyline has you doing the same things: go to A, destroy nest, save people, back to base, go to B, destroy nest, save people, back to base. Oh, there's a time limit. Oh, a boss fight. Yeah.

The races, destruction derbies and survivals are much more fun imho, and yes, it is mad fun overall, if fairly repetitive (in the story mode especially).

Thanks! Sounds like I'm probably picking up Underworld. I'm really looking forward to the Xbox One version of the newest Tomb Raider. I don't expect the changes to be large, but that's not a bad thing in this case.

When, OH WHEN, will Double Dragon Neon go on sale?  Also, isn't Dustforce supposed to come out soon?

I found Underworld to be the most finicky, with puzzles and climbing sequences that went on too long and weren't always clear on how to proceed. Legend, while the looks aren't as good as the more recent games, has better level design and an overall better pace. For me, anyway.

Also, Underworld has far too many giant, giant spiders. If you have a problem with those. Some parts of that game become way harder than they should be.
