This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Ugh, Deadlight.  Probably my least enjoyable gaming experience this past generation.  It's the only game I ever remember deleting off my hard drive.

I still haven't expressed my views on this month's free games. I gotta say, I'm glad for both, as I considered getting both on sales already. Both seem feasible achievement-wise too, especially Deadlight, and as far as Hitman goes... to this day, Hitman 2 is one of my favourite games of all time, such a brilliant game whose magic, however, none of the other episodes I played managed to capture. I won't mind too much if this one isn't on par with it either, it's free, so... besides, played some Ground Zeroes today which just reminded me of how much I used to enjoy some stealth games back in the day. Bring on April, and let's hope for some pretty nice sales as well - don't forget we're getting the GwG games tonight, the sales related to them (Square stuff again maybe?), and also the new DOTW. Good times ahead, hopefully.

By the way, since I got rid of Spec Ops: The Line from my backlog, anyone else went for completion (or at least a FUBAR difficulty playthrough)? I gotta say I really loved the storyline and the game was more fun than Gears Of War to me, but man, some parts are just cheap. It seems that rather often, enemies find a way to shoot through walls, also they have X-ray, plus many times the moment you pop out of cover you literally die in less than a tenth of a second - so much for reaction times and chances.

And, obviously, that helicopter scene in chapter 6 or 7. What. The. Actual. F*ck. Who thought this was a good idea? Between Hard and FUBAR I probably replayed it around 40 times, each and every time followed by a not so short loading time too and the unskippable cutscene. Completely lacking any logic, skill or point, it's like minesweeper without numbers, you try random stuff until it eventually allows you through. Not gonna lie, that part made me curse a lot.

It's a good game though, the storyline is absolutely mindboggling, and the gameplay is definitely fun and polished. For those who still have it sitting in the backlog since it went 7.50$ a while ago, I recommend it, 20-30 hours (depends on the amount of frustration in some parts) to get 1000G and a surprising storyline with multiple branches - hardly a bad deal.

They announced the games for this week yet?
Well it's Tuesday here in Australia which means that the deal of the week has gone live over here. You'll have to forgive me though with the pricing as due to certain tax codes Microsoft still uses Microsoft Points here, which they've since dubbed Kangaroo Points, so I don't know how it works with pricing overseas. It's actually damned amazing considering I have very few of these games, though I have been keeping my eyes on them, and is as follows:

Merv Griffin's Crosswords - 140 MSP

Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe - 200 MSP

Days of Thunder: Non-Arcade Version - 300 MSP

Screwjumper!!!!!!: Extra !!!!!!!!s Edition - 120 MSP

Tour De France 2019: Cyborgs on Bicycles - 500 MSP

Risk Factions 2: Super Risky Edition - 400 MSP

And if that doesn't get you all excited enough and worried about your wallet, here's a huge treat for everyone:

All of the massively loved DLC for Amy is also on sale including the Make This Game Playable Compatibility Pack for 80 MSP

That's all I see having gone live right now but if anything else pops up I'll be sure to let you gamers back in the lands of the Yanks know what's what.

Oh my gosh, the bullet hell sale is here, albeit it's only 3 games. Such a shame DeathSmiles2 X never came out on European marketplace (or retail for that matter, nor it's region free on that), that's an insanely good price. The first game is perhaps my all-time favourite bullet hell (or close to it). Trouble Witches Neo! is also one hell of a game, really fun. Don't miss out on those, though they are... hard.

Haha, did not read it's April Fool's. Good one. :p

I'd buy most of those if they were real, especially at those prices.

I hate you

:)

I don't think a posting about sales would be a good early April Fool's joke since most of us doubt the speculation until we see the actual sale since most of the speculations are wrong.

FUBAR difficulty was definitely tough. Especially the last firefight in the last chapter. It was literally raining bullets nonstop, and it took me a good 1-2 hours to get past that part. I felt like the greatest gamer ever when that cheev popped.

I'd buy most of those if they were real, especially at those prices.
Two of those games were real (actually 3 if you don't include the !!!!!!!s) - all sadly, or perhaps properly, delisted though

I hate Bloomy too lol

I did actually believe it because, for some reason, even if I refresh XBLDB I tend to get its updates a couple minutes later than what other people here do. So I do usually believe this kind of stuff, especially if it's well formatted :p

Yes, I'm in the same boat with XBLDB here too in terms of updates and we always want to believe things that we desire to be true. But posting like that is just cruel. Bloomy, that was a low blow there, I was so excited and now I'm wearing a sad panda face.

Well done though

FUBAR difficulty was definitely tough. Especially the last firefight in the last chapter. It was literally raining bullets nonstop, and it took me a good 1-2 hours to get past that part. I felt like the greatest gamer ever when that cheev popped.
I did lose 1-2 hours on that chapter on Hard already (on the part right after the fire cutscene, not the other ones), which made me remember how to do it: eliminate the two turrets fast with RPGs, then run to the right before they respawn (I think that's the only part of the game where enemies come non-stop, cheap move since most of the game has you fighting patiently). I was also so damn glad when I finished that chapter, since I remembered how everything after was a non-challenge. That cheevo is indeed one of the most satisfying ones, between the helicopter part, that final shootout with the turrets and some other total BS parts (pretty much every part that had tons of enemies who also threw grenades, which made you move out of cover to avoid the explosion and get killed while you run away), many good sides of the game were forgotten in frustration. Other than these parts it's a challenging but mostly fair game, a bit loose on the checkpoints but one of my biggest positive surprises this year (since I only just got into to it these months).

Yeah, the timing was also perfect, since we should be getting the new sales in a matter of minutes. It was completely believeable, perhaps the only thing that could have gave it away is that some stuff like DeathSmiles was just too damn good to be true. To me it's almost a relief, I would have not been able to buy DeathSmiles2 X anyway (CAVE never bothered releasing the sequel in Europe unfortunately), and everything else I really wanted there is mine. Maybe would have put Nuts & Bolts in my backlog for that price.

I wish that as an april's fools joke they would put Diablo III for free but just for one minute. I would be all about it in a matter of seconds. I would get the game and still have 30 seconds to spare

You son of a bitch. Haha. Leviathan is the one that got me because it was semi-realistic, so I immediately believed the rest of your list. ;_;

Also, another week gone by and Ultimate Tenkaichi is still on sale. This is hilarious.

That's just the Games with Gold associated sale. Not the DotW.

They're not gone yet are they? They're still on the website
No they are not. They've been gone since yesterday. You must have glossed over my angry posts. :p

Most of the WWE 2K14 DLC is 50% off, including the Season Pass. Kinda expected that one really.
Nice try. :p The Season Pass was never $40. Congrats on getting me to look though.

Price just changed after another refresh, and it's Gold-only so it's not a publisher sale. fuck.

How exactly, after like 9 months on Games With Gold, can you only own 3 games?
I own 300+ games, but I did not own many either, thanks to my obscure tastes. I think I only owned Dead Island, Dungeon Defenders, Defense Grid and Halo 3 so far.

Hitman Blood Money - Gold Price - $6.59
Hitman HD Pack - Gold Price - $8.24

There's the prices for anyone who doesn't want to do the math.

-WWE 2K14: Season Pass------------------------------------------- $9.99

-WWE 2K14: Legends and Creation Pack------------------------ $4.49 (106.17 MB)
-WWE 2K14: Superstars and Moves Pack------------------------ $3.99 (123.95 MB)

-WWE 2K14: Accelerator--------------------------------------------- $.99

I actually don't understand all the hate around Deadlight. I really enjoyed the game even with some absurd trial and error segments. Bought it during Christmas sale and thought it was totally worth it.

I already have Hitman Absolution and Deadlight, so these are the 3rd and 4th game I already had since July. Hope we get another game other than Absolution in Portugal, as it isn't listed in our Marketplace.

Not bad prices at all. I already have the Limited Edition of the Trilogy with all 3 though, and none of them have MP afaik, so owning a second copy doesn't help with anything.

I liked it, my only complaint is that it was too damn short. Short enough to feel like I overpaid for it ($7.50). And the only extra stuff were the collectables (diary pages which added to the story, lost IDs which were neat (you should know who the IDs belong to though, which makes them feel out of place..) and then the little handheld games which were.. okay, but the game's set in the 80s so I guess it makes sense). The story was interesting at least, even if not incredibly fleshed out. Was fun to play, but the controls were a little finicky at times.

Tequila Works (the dev) has potential, their new game (Rime) looks really good. It's a shame Microsoft shot themselves in the foot turning them away when they approached MS with Rime (probably due to lacklustre sales of Deadlight when they were given a spot in the Summer of Arcade), when they only came to MS first out of respect of their experience working together on Deadlight (they went straight to Sony afterwards). It was such a stupid move that Phil Spencer made a statement saying it was a stupid move.

So, wait, that's it? WWE sale (again...) and only 2 Hitman games on sale besides the free one. Granted, I think I'll just grab the whole Hitman saga again at this point (played 2 to death, also kinda liked Contracts on PS2), so it's not like I won't get anything, but I sure expected more. Good for my wallet, I suppose.

Just to chime in while the server in Warface is being shitty: I've owned 3 digitally and 4 physically, with two of them in both. (GoW and R6V)

I'm happy with the game selection though.  Just because a title is older doesn't make it less quality.

And I might pick up the digital HD Trilogy and trade in my disks to GS or BB. (keep the artbook of course)

War Face has been working great for me, i played some of it last night and i had great time with it. Pretty solid game the only thing i hate about it that it takes more than half a clip to kill an enemy.

Damn, I really thought Banjo was on sale. I would have bought it for sure.

Waiting for 2K14 to reach $10 like WWE '13 did.

No interest in Hitman.

I just checked it out, reminded me a bit too much of ICO.

Hitman HD collection worth it? They look pretty rough, even in HD. I loved 2 back in the day, never played Contracts.

We have not suffered enough! LET THE MEDIOCRE SALES CONTINUE!!
Seriously. 2K just had to offer us another crappy week of sales, huh? There's not even a publisher sale this week to make it any better (aside from the GWG Hitman sale).

I don't even want to say what I think next week's sale will be, just because I know I'll jinx it, but here's a hint. It's another 2K title that goes on sale a lot.

This wouldn't be so bad, if MajorNelson would announce next week's sale in advance like he used to. But he doesn't even announce new XBLA titles anymore, so I guess I can't expect much from him.
