This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I think the massive disappointment of Ep1 made people forget that Ep6 already lost the ball quite a bit, and made them also overlook the fact that Ep2 and Ep3 are pretty solid (specifically, Ep2 is okay and Ep3 is pretty good).
Okay let's put this to rest. Episode 1 is a mediocre summer movie. Episode 2 is an unwatchable train wreck of a flick that makes no sense at any turn. It's abysmal but its horrendous quality is overlooked only because we all thought anything would be better than Episode 1 - but nope Episode 2 came by and made us pray for "A New Hope" (see what I did there? huh ... huh ...?). Episode 3 is actually okay but is only okay considering that the earlier two flicks were let downs.

I don't want to hear another person say another good word about Episode 2 otherwise they're getting a smack in the face from a frozen echidna. Though I would recommend you watch some of the scenes they cut from the movie - start at around 4:30 if you want to see a "meet the parents" dinner scene with Anakin and Padme - it's revolting. If only the Death Star had been built then so it could have blown up Naboo at that very moment. What the fuck was Lucas thinking!!!!

Attack of the Clones is awesome. It's better than Return of the Jedi. I saw it 13 times in the theater.

When I watched episode 2 I was greatly disappointed (mostly because of the anti-climactic yoda dooku battle....just too short) but when I watched it again I enjoyed it and would still watch that one over Episode I.  I enjoyed all of them because I just love the universe of star wars.

Ep 2: loved watching anakin dabble in the dark side....yoda fighting....jango fett....the water world of the clones...lucas just crammed too much into that movie was all.  The romance was terrible though....

and wait, what are you talking about "they forgot they had Jedi powers and shit"? Only Luke had any Jedi powers, and he was still just a learner. Its not like he had complete mastery over the Force at that point. Are you sure you've even seen Episode 6 or are you just a shitquel I MEAN prequel apologist in disguise?
I'm not a huge SW fan, neither of the original trilogy or the newer one. I recently had the chance to (re)watch all movies in a row, and I realized how Ep6 lacks logic. I'm not saying the newer trilogy is better (I did however say that Ep2 and Ep3 get too easily shoved in the mix with Ep1 which was 2000 times worse than its sequels), simply put they spend an hour in Ep6 in a situation that should be quite easily solved, and yet, that doesn't happen. It's memorable but forced, and so are the twists, not foreshadowed in the slightest (as Lucas admitted, these twists came to happen a long way into writing the story). If one actually stops and thinks for a second, and assumed that SW canon and logic has its own reasoning, Ep4 and Ep5 make sense in the logic proposed by the saga, but Ep6... eh, not so much. It's a different story altogether how the newer trilogy is all too convenient in its coincidences (Anakin's robot ending up with Luke, among other things), but when people think about Ep6 they really seem to think of all the very memorable parts, not really remembering that from a continuity and logic point of view, it was a flawed movie. That it beats Ep1 by miles is hardly meaningful, nearly any movie I watched in the past 10 years also does that.

Almost forgot: Luke went close to defeating Darth Vader at one point. Then he pretty much forgets about that achievement and goes all dumb and powerless in the first hour of Ep6. Or did Jabba somehow become a more dangerous enemy than the main villain?

Ep1 was really annoying, obviously thanks to the sick amount of Jar Jar Binks. The Darth Maul part looked good, at least. Ep2 kinda suffered the same thing: the storyline was lacking, but at least it was a good looking movie. Ep3 was pretty good, considering it finally connected the trilogies, explained some key parts and was generally a fairly emotional ride, overall. Of course it had its share of BS (some of the dialogue, the infamous NOOO scene, etc.), but it was a solid movie considering what came before. But this is what I'm talking about, the whole trilogy often gets regarded as one piece of junk because Ep1 sucks, but actually it's an improving trilogy. Mind you, it's not as good as the old one (never been a question, really), but Ep3 is a solid movie as far as I'm concerned, and when people just pass it off as "meh, same as Ep1" it's a bit annoying. But this is why I said I don't even want to compare the two trilogies, the older one wins hands down for many reasons, but I also stand by the case that Ep6 is regarded way higher than it is, when deep down everyone knows that, while the twists and turns may have been shocks at the time, the lack of foreshadowing (and in some case plain and simple logic) make it a quite questionable (if memorable) movie. And the fact the newer trilogy is a bit of a turd compared to it doesn't suddenly make Ep6 a masterpiece, especially when compared to the much greater (and much more sensed) Ep4 and Ep5 (though they did go for a couple convenient turns in Ep5 as well to accomodate the sequel). This is not about new trilogy VS old trilogy. It's about Ep6 having flaws that people forget because it's a classic.

Oh, and SW sales? May even bite on some things here.

Star Wars Shit!!!!

-Star Wars: The Force Unleashed----------------------------------------------- $9.99 (6.36 GB)
-Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: Tatooine Mission Pack---------------- $2.49 (837.43 MB)
-Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2--------------------------------------------- $9.99 (5.62 GB)
-Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga------------------------------------------ $14.99 (5.71 GB)
-Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars--------------------------------------------- $9.99 (6.03 GB)
-Lego Indiana Jones----------------------------------------------------------------- $9.99 (3.53 GB)

What SW stuff is there? They finally drop the SW:TFU 1 DLC????
SW: TFU2, SW:TFU1 and LEGO Star Wars 3 are all $9.99.

And 2 TFU1 DLCs are $2.49 each (TATOOINE Mission Pack, Jedi Temple Mission Pack). It's looking good.

Lego SW: TCS for $15 is a joke. The GoD prices are pretty bad here, but the DLC prices are good at least.

To celebrate that Disney finally disregarded everything non-movie as non-canon, enjoy some of these great SW games, then cry in the corner thinking none of these will ever matter to the story that has been once again retconned, probably for the 29429249th time overall. Bit of a kick in the balls, really, since under Lucas' control nearly everything was regarded canon-ish (albeit this led to many retcons, since lazy authors didn't care about researching details and facts), and now suddenly all the side-stories of 30 years or so go down the drain. But hey, The Force Unleashed is fun. Even if its story is ultimately a load of bollocks for the official storyline, it's fun as hell using the force to throw enemies around, and so is all the laserswording. If you still somehow didn't play it, here's the chance.

Please tell me this isn't the whole sale. I have no interest in Star Wars.
Then why are you here? Didn't you know this is the Star Wars fan thread? Xbox deals are just off-topic stuff we like talking about. :p

But yeah, it's looking like a Lucasfilm sale. Sorry for jinxing the sale with the news I posted earlier, everyone. ;_;

God dammit. There goes our "gtfo with the off topic Star Wars" argument.

Please tell me there's more than Star Wars shit on sale.

All my Star Wars game are on PS3 so pass for me. $10 for those Lego games is a good deal though.

And my only real complaint on Episodes 1-3 is how great the special effects are compared to the original trilogy. Makes it harder to accept it's all in continuity.

Yeah, even Ep1 has so much eyecandy, then you realize half of the screen time is wasted on Jar Jar Binks. Yikes. But already the Darth Maul fight looks better than anything in the original trilogy, albeit it obviously doesn't match the epicness of the Vader fights.

Shame that they aren't pricing down the Star Wars Pinball tables for those who passed on it the other week

Another lame sale

And anyone who asks no do not buy SWTFU 2 - like episode 2 it's awful. it's about 4 hours of gameplay. If you want just download the demo and you get the first 40 minutes free. Play through it 4 or 5 times and I've just saved you $10.

Hmm I may pick up TFUII since that's a decent price. BBY has it for $8 used but it's more than the digital price elsewhere. The original TFU is $3 at GameStop so disc is much cheaper. I think I still have my friend's copy from years ago lol.

Lego Indy :)
I have almost all of the Lego games, and that one has got to be the worst of them. If they put on Lego: The Hobbit, (one of the few I don't have, and rented. It was pretty good), I may bite. Of course, the Xbox One version would probably still be full price.

Then why are you here? Didn't you know this is the Star Wars fan thread? Xbox deals are just off-topic stuff we like talking about. :p
I mean if we're talking about things off-topic, I wanted to ask why you have that dragon beanie baby as an avatar, any special reason? I think I used to have it as a kid; just curious.

I have a copy of the Special Edition for TFU2 because it was $20 and why not? It helps that they made the DLC dirt-cheap after the game bombed.

Still need to get the first one, but $3 at GameStop sounds much more appetizing than $10 on Xbox.

To end the SW movie argument, I suggest everyone to look up Lucas' words on the Ep5 ending and Ep6, to make it obvious how out of context some things were. He literally explained how the "I'm your father" twist was initially a joke, then actually inserted into the movie without any detail leading up to it in the previous movies. Same goes for the Luke-Leia relationship, totally coming out of nowhere. Remember, if it's a twist that has no element behind it whatsoever, it's not a plot twist but simply deus ex machina. Likewise, Han getting trapped at the end of Ep5 was similarly a ploy because they had no idea whether Harrison Ford would stick around for another movie, and then spent 1 hour of the final movie (up until the newer trilogies, of course, that happened decades later) actually tying that questionable twist up - again, in a memorable fashion, but Luke went close to defeating Vader, and now suddenly forgets to use the force and goes absolutely powerless against a giant slug (that ultimately is defeated easily). Ep6 was literally a set of events that made very little sense after two well-written movies, as it ties things up with situations and twists that almost contradict what happened prior to it. Was it a bad movie? Far from it. But if you stop for even a second about why and how the events in that movie came to be, they all go down as being rather cheap, which is forgotten because of the memorable characters and the climatic ending. Having watched all the movies again recently, back to back, made this all too obvious, as it totally felt like Lucas forgot the continuity of Ep4 and Ep5 by the time Ep6 came to be, and the mess they've made with the new trilogy doesn't justify Ep6's errors.

You know what the only good Star Wars prequel was?

This. So motherfucking this. It stomped the fuck out of all the prequels.

Stop right there, that won't ever happen. Especially when we see what the shitty deals are for this week now.
It ends as far as I'm concerned, I don't expect this years-long debate to end because I said so of course. Just wanted to point out a couple facts that serve as a reminder that Ep6 was not in all ways ideal, but I also won't be discussing this for a week. Points were made, so that's about it.

I'm all for a SW themed week, I'm even going to Star Wars weekends at disneyworld this year. But $10 is just way too much for force unleashed 1 or 2. The first game was pretty bad in terms of simple playability. The second was much, much better, but $5 would be a much more appropriate price for a sale like this.

fuck! No Hoth discount?!? Assholes!
They gotta get you to buy the Ultimate Sith Edition somehow. :p

Very good question, I believe you're the first person who ever asked in all my years of being here.

[customspoiler=Special Reason]Good eye, my avatar is indeed a beanie baby called Scorch. The reason it's my avatar is because the username I'd use on forums before BobbyTastic was ADScorch (AD was a name I used in-game but often too short to register as a username, so I had to think of a filler word). I picked Scorch because that beanie baby was the first ever present I gave my first girlfriend (who I was dating at the time I came up with the username because we were together ~4 years). Obviously, after we broke up I had to pick a new username to start using, but I sort of got attached to having the little guy as my avatar, so I decided to use it when I signed up here. I've thought about changing it, as I don't use him as my avatar on any other forum anymore, but I feel it's too associated with my account in most people's minds at this point to bother. :p [/customspoiler]

Not that any of you were dying to know, but that's the story.

You know what the only good Star Wars prequel was?

Very true. And the first season was what? 5 minutes altogether? If they had put more of a budget into it/expanded the series like the Clone Wars series after it, it could have been even better.

I like how they made the shorts canon by having the third movie take place immediately after the last short. The only problem was, a majority of people who saw the third film had not seen the shorts, which is what led to the jokes about General Grievous' wheezing (as it didn't make sense if you hadn't seen the short where his chest gets force-crushed by Mace Windu before escaping).

Yes people, there's a reason Grievous sounds like an asthmatic. :p He's probably my favourite of the prequel villains (see chapter 20 of the Clone Wars shorts to see why), they just kind of wasted him in the third movie, unfortunately.

Because of those shorts, I was initially very disappointed when they retconned them in favour of the 3d series, which paled in comparison for a while. I've heard it's gotten better though, especially in the last season, so that's something.

my take on SW movies:

Episode V was awesome, IV was good but not great (starts slow, has plot issues) and VI was good if you discount some of the Jabba stuff that did go on a little too long.

Episode I was okay (Darth Maul fight at the end redeemed it), II was a steaming pile of bantha shit, and III tried to recover from it but failed.  The prequels had so much potential but were completely wasted.

As far as the new movies, honestly I never had much attachment to the EU (save for KOTOR) so its not a huge loss.  I also dont know many people at all who paid attention to the post-ROTJ universe so I really dont think this will effect the movies the way some of you guys think...

Are the servers even up for that still?
Yep servers for Shadowrun are still up and running - surprisingly. It's also one of the few games that is cross platform play between PC and Xbox 360 so if you do have any mates who don't have a 360 you can play against them on PC. I've never played it myself but I have heard that there's still a bit of a community though I would expect that anyone who is playing it still is amazing at it and will destroy new players but I could be wrong.
