This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Bought a digital copy of Tales of Vesperia since I sold my retail disc a long while ago. I may end up snagging FFXIII-2 as well. Definitely getting D&D: Chronicles of Mystara to relive the arcade glory days. Now my decision is what to do next: start disc 2 of FFXIII or finally unwrap and play GTA V?
Unless you like the characters and story, FFXIII isn't getting any better as you progress.

I've gotten that impression. The 2nd disc starting off with you in control of Hope isn't winning any points with me. I kinda hate that kid. But I also hate the idea of not finishing a FF game. I was using it a way of deciding whether or not to pick up FFXIII-2 since it is cheap. But if things aren't much better moving forward then I can wait I think. Thanks for the input.

I'll be honest, I beat the game only as a way to show my friends how "hardcore" I am since they all tried, but grew tired of the game almost immediately. None of the characters are really interesting or fun and you really don't get to choose who you want as a team until I believe near the end of the 2nd disc or so. Plus the world doesn't open up until the 3rd disc, which by than felt like too little too late. By the end the character's never really develop to which you can relate with any of them. To this day I still hate Hope and I still think Lightning is a total bitch.

On the plus side, FF13:Lightning Returns demo wasn't too bad since the combat system felt more actiony, but fuck I still hate these over melodramatic characters...

I've seen the one month cards on Ebay. I had one from when I sent in my 360 with the RROD. I can confirm that it allowed me to download Sleeping Dogs a couple weeks ago for free.
I bought a one-month on xbox-com for $10. Not cheap, but I wanted both GwG and won't believe xbox turned a corner on offering good games free until I see February's GwG. I was able to get both games. Xbox has a FAQ about GwG that says that any paid or credit card reserved gold membership counts. Note for your friend: it also says that if you are in a 14-day free trial, you can't download GwG until after the trial is over, even if you have tacked on a paid subscription.

Do yourself a favor and don't bother with GTAV. Take it to a game shop, say you don't have your reciept because it was a gift and you want to trade it for something that doesn't suck and get boring after 20 minutes

Okay, I am feeling the itch to grab D&D. I love Streets Of Rage and Golden Axe, should I pull the trigger? My son loves playing old school beat em ups with me, how many hours will we get out of these? Thanks for the help!

I'm sure I'm the only sucker who did the promo, but I received my code for 3 months of Live last night for having bought 3 eligible titles on Xbox One a few weeks back. Anyone else who did should keep an eye out.

Ha, you too? By far some of favorites on the sega. Well the D&D game comes in two with each having 3-5 hours of gameplay from each, depending on your speed of playthroughs. I say get it, if you enjoy those classics. Im trying to decide myself between this or Tales. Good thing I still have a couple of days to do so.

Same problem.......I'm feeling too cheap to get both :D

I went looking for my copy of GTA V just to verify that it was still sealed. I'm guessing my nephew got to it and opened it unfortunately. So I figured I would try it. It wasn't bad at all really, but I can say that so far I'm not a fan of the driving mechanics. Feels very twitchy. Like every bump or correction made me spin the car around entirely. It seems like the driving in Sleeping Dogs felt much better. Much tighter.

So I guess I will make myself finish FFXIII and then mess around with Dark Souls or Tales of Vesperia. But before that I'll give the demo of Lightning Returns a try. It'd be worth it to get an idea of what the game will be like and since if you finish it you'll get Siegfried garb in the final retail release. As a big FF6 fan, I will want to have that if at all possible should I decide to play the retail release eventually.

And thanks to everyone in this thread for responses as usual. Most of the time the talk around here is both helpful and civil. That's a huge rarity on the internet.

I didn't like GTA V driving for the opposite reason. I thought the cars were too easy to control. Either I got lucky and was only driving cars with high handling or they updated them to make them harder. Haven't played since launch week. I might check it out this weekend if I have time.

The problem for me with GTA5 was the police. It was frustrating to hide from them and they'd begin a chase/shootout for any reason or none. I felt like I couldn't even experience the game without everything I tried to do turning into a tedious 20-minute police chase. I kept wishing I was playing Saints Row or Sleeping Dogs instead.

Use the alleys. Drive into a pay n spray. Hiding in parking garages work if they don't see you driving into them. Even then, most have a ramp on the top level so you can easily lure cops in, jump off, and get away. Drive into the subway tunnels and if they don't see you go in, they won't ever search there. If you're out in Trevor territory, just drive off road and don't look back; easiest way to escape even from choppers as they seem to lose interest easily.

Fun game, though I can see why people might get bored eventually.

I had the most success using the car washes that are right next to the gas station. As long as you can get into one without being in view, the cops always seemed to give up after a short wait.

WHAT?!?!? I didn't even know about this! Just searched youtube and my mind is blown! I didn't even know the car washes were fully functional. Thanks for the tip! Gotta try this out now. :)

I'm not sure if someone said it, but check your emails. If you bought any three of Killer Instinct, Powerstar Golf, Crimson Dragon, Max: the Curse of Brotherhood, or LocoCycle then you got your code for three months of Xbox Live.

This makes me want to jump back in. I never tried those creative methods you mentioned. Alleys and just watching the police vision cones made most chases manageable.

GTA V was fun.  I definitely got bored running from police as much as I did, but usually you could find an alley or place to hide and eventually lose them.  It was annoying when it felt like they had a homing device and would find you even when you were well hidden.

The driving mechanics in GTAV were fine with me, but I hated them in IV.  Also, the thing Sleeping Dogs did with the arrows telling you where to go was amazing.  I couldn't believe GTAV didn't implement something like that.  Way too much reliance on the minimap in GTAV.

It will be worth me revisiting later. I had a tooth extracted Tuesday afternoon and I've been slightly off my game due to a relatively empty stomach and being on pain killers. So, I'm a wee bit loopy for a good portion of the day. Probably guilty of not giving it the most fair chance possible.

I just really hope the DLC in the coming months for GTA5 is worth it. It would be a shame to have the crappy DLC they already have as the next DLC's even if there's heists involved.

Sharing the love.....The Maw was pretty cool

Mrs. Splosion Man lost my interest pretty quick, I guess the appeal was spent with Splosion Man.
Yeah I lost interest pretty quick too. I LOVED Splosionman and was one of the first 5 people in the world to beat Hardcore mode

I took a pic of the codes and sent to my friend, he said the second Maw code worked and thanks you. Ms Splosion Man is gone.

I actually enjoyed Ms. Splosion Man more than the original, but I really loved both games. I can understand the burnout that others faced though. I definitely didn't bother with Hardcore on either of them.

"You're gonna need a new pair of prison overalls cause I'm goin in dry", mode.
I like "must die" modes and I never got in Ms.Sploisonman to harder than normal so far, but please don't tell me its harder than Ninja Gaiden very hard mode. If you played Ninja Gaiden on that difficulty that is.

It's more of an unforgiving mode. Pretty much there's no checkpoints and I think everything's sped up a little bit so it's a lot harder. From my experience with the first splosionman, you're definitely going to want to rip your hair out and brake a controller or 2.

That's exactly what I did when I played Ninja Gaiden games on super hard difficulties, constant swearing, controller flying around the room and broken chair cause it didn't take my punches well. But when I actually beat the game its the most satisfying feeling in the world. Thing is I love Ninja Gaiden games and that's what kept me going but I'm not really into Splosionman and I don't feel like wasting my energy on that game.

Yep. Loved both games for the humor and good challenge that they offered. They're two of the best XBLA games around.

It's not that hard if you love the game. Nothing is sped up so you just need to memorize the level in normal mode and do it in one go on hardcore. Splosion games are probably the best platformers out there; i've helped several friends with full coop campaign and never get tired of it.

I believe that is called porn mode.
Yes and all we need is Ms.Splosion saying "Ram my p...y"

I actually heard that in porn few times and "Ram my p...y" sounds pretty hot, well it depends on the girl if she's really hungry and aggressive it does sound explosive
