This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I'm with Tyler. They've set a precedent with this program, which got me to subscribe to gold again after a two year lapse. I expect them to follow through with it. One retail game a month is part of that.
So you're choosing to purchase Gold for a random game each month that you most likely won't end up wanting then you're going to complain about it?

For that and the gold only sales, absolutely. Like I said, I never complain about it, but next month's games strikes me as especially shitty. I can complain all I want, bro.

Of course you can, but all that comes of it is making yourself look like an entitled little brat

Get over yourself, dude. The GwG program doesn't exist in a vacuum. With PS+ being required for online on PS4, the programs are entirely comparable. The fact that one is offering only 1 new game a month while the other offers 2 is going to be noticed and complained about. All that said, this marks the first time that Xbox is offering a game free day 1, so good on them.

I've already played Guacamelee, but I'll check out the enhanced version for free.

New GwG for June announced.

Xbox 360:

July 1st to 15th --> Gotham City Imposters

July 16th-31st --> Battleblock Theater

Xbox One:

Guacamelee: Super Turbo CE

Max and The Cruse Of Brotherhood continues on through
bummer about Battleblock as I bought it in the last sale and havent even played it yet... :wall:

The rest are okay though.

This has nothing to do with PS+

Whether you care to admit it or not they are competing programs that will be compared to each other. If one is better than the other, people will notice and complain. I realize you are kind of slow, but I can't really break it down any more than that.

Thanks!

Now that this and my vote on steam are taken care of, nap time again! :p
Dagnabit, forgot about it and gave in to the impulse to nap.

July 1st to 15th --> Gotham City Imposters
Didn't that multiplayer only game have it's servers shut down not that long ago? Or was it just PS3 and PC?

Not that I'll ever even finish downloading it, bad TF2 clone.

Meh on the 360, WTF on Max continuing, and hell yea I've been wanting to play Guacamelee but never bought it on PSN. Get it free here, much better
Guess they're going the old PS+ model of having titles that last more than a month. Can't blame them, they would burn through the entire existing library of smaller games in no time otherwise.

No, like, you clearly don't even understand what you're trying to argue. This had absolutely nothing to do with PS+ until you started going off about it right now.

But since you have, they absolutely were not competing and should not have been compared at all until this past month when GwG started on the One.

And also, make sure you try to insult the other person, that really shows that you are worthy of conversing with or that your point is good

I already have everything being offered for Games with Gold, though I can always use another reason to play through Guacamelee again. I'm not a fan of them keeping Max and the Curse of Brotherhood up there so it looks like they're offering two Xbox One games again for July. Getting brand new stuff is at least a nice improvement and I hope that continues, so they might want to focus on that for Xbox One stuff due to the digital library being so small for the time being.

Gotham City Impostors is a weird choice for Xbox 360 since that is an ancient MP-only game, so it could easily die off as soon as it's done being free. That's another PS+ repeat(July 2012) for those keeping count.

Guacamelee and Battleblock Theater are fantastic games, it will be fun to see battleblock multiplayer increase for a but when it drops.

I have never tried Gotham city, excited to try another free game

I use gamefaqs to see upcoming games, what do you guys use for a more accurate list? I have abandoned my 360 game wise even though I still get the free GWG and the games I really want for the Xbox One are coming Sept and Oct.

Then you didn't pay attention when, in November 2013, they gave A World of Keflings and Iron Brigade. That's one...two....TWO ARCADE GAMES

Count-Von-Count.jpg

And there's your true precedence.

Don't see myself abandoning my 360 or PS3 for quite some time.. tons of excellent gaming to be had, and the graphic disparity is not as big a deal as many folks like to vocalize.

Heck, I have a glut of games for my PS2 and Wii still kicking around. Mostly RPGs - those simply never get old. Or pretty to look at.

You guys really should think about how silly your bitching sounds.  I've been subscribed since 11/3/2003.

You know how much of that going on 11 years they have had free games as part of Gold?  Not very much.  You know how much I complained? Not at all.

I thought Gotham City Imposters was already free. Is there another free DC game I am confusing it with?  Either way, I will pass since I wasn't fond of the demo and its "multiplayer only" vibe.

Battleblock Theater, on the other hand, is so fun. Very good choice for July's freebies.

I wish Guacamolee was on Xbox 360 instead of Xbox One so I can try it out.

The 6 GB of free hard drive space on my Xbox live another month.

If you're looking for players for those games you can try posting for it here.

I saw some people asking about Spartan Assault and Crackdown help; you might be able to find some help there too.

I still haven't beat Dark Cloud 2. :\

If you're happy with XBL never changing/evolving, that's one thing, but there's no need to knock the people that want more from it. If it weren't for them, you'd still be paying for access to media apps like Netflix, you wouldn't get the free games, and you'd have an always online console that has to check-in often or lose access to your games, so it's the job of the fans to keep pushing for positive changes that only serve to enhance the service that everybody is paying for. It keeps Microsoft on their toes.

Battleblock Theater and Gotham City Imposters are not so bad after all. If I would pay for those games then I would be pissed, but, I'm glad that this time around is it something that I don't have.  Can't complain here.

Well considering how much time is left on the 360's lifecycle, the "bitching" makes sense. Now, they say "we'll still support for 3 years", but there's a huge difference between saying and doing nowadays. So with slots being taken by games undesired/already owned, it's understandable that people would complain.

Regardless, free is free though, so meh.

Despite nobody overtly bringing up PS+ I think it goes without saying that people would not be complaining (at least not nearly as much) if PS+ didn't exist. But it does exist. And since Microsoft revealed the 2 game a month policy (which is exactly the same as PS+) people had expectations that it would be two "new" games a month (since that's how it works with +). But it doesn't work that way so people are disappointed.

Now by your own admission starting this month it is okay to compare the programs, right? Since that is the case don't be surprised when it happens.

Also, I was not trying to insult you. I legitimately suspected you were slow since you were having such a hard time fathoming how someone could have a different point of view as you.

Ok so no one actually missed out on Guacamelee for the 360. I know when I purchased it it said full game but the download is just a video. To make sure I'm not going nuts, I double checked on xbox.com to see if I had purchased the video but the video link that's up doesn't show I had previously purchased it.

Glad the steam sale is so weak and I decided to drop in. Snagged a free 360 copy of guac! THX!

Edit- spoke too soon! Checked the box after Daz's post and must have got the video because it didn't show up in my game library. Definitely said full game when I grabbed it though.

Well I beat guacamelee on ps3/vita so doesn't really matter to me. It's a great game and I might play through it again.

The others though get a resounding meh from me. No big deal though.

Then you didn't pay attention when, in November 2013, they gave A World of Keflings and Iron Brigade. That's one...two....TWO ARCADE GAMES

And there's your true precedence.
I didn't buy my current 360 and subscribe again until Dec. Sorry I didn't properly research what happened before I started caring about the service again. This clearly invalidates any opinion I may have about the quality of GwG games. Thank you for proving how dumb I am.

^He makes a compelling argument.

I might try to finish GCI achievements with all the new players. Last time I tried everybody was crazy high levels.

EDIT: I think it'd be neato if they alternate between 2 old games month and 1 brand new game month.

I just rented Lego Marvel less than one week after playing through Lego The Hobbit. I must be crazy.

And I'm done....

Not only are you resulting to more insults but now you are completely going off and just running your mouth about something that has absolutely nothing to do with anything that I said or implied.

Heck, might as well be a hypocrite and leave with, "maybe you should check yourself before you call others slow because you clearly have no idea what you're trying to argue with."

Looks like next month's gold games are going to save me hd space at least, since I wouldn't play either. Here's hoping for a good sale soon and maybe just maybe mass effect DLC will go on sale.
