This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I got a bit distracted by Ultra. Just got my ass kicked by #1 ranked El Fuerte, so this is a good time to check while I'm healing. I'll edit this post.

EDIT: Works fine on 360. Got Quake Arena.

I have this same problem on my brothers account.

I remember someone said to delete and recover the account.

I haven't tried it due to laziness, but I am just trying to help. xD

2 is a bastard game. It was a cash in by 2K, made by another developer. If the first one didn't grab you, it's not the series for you.
When I tried the first one years ago it didn't grab me...I was planning on going to GS later today to buy $5 in MS money to buy the $4.99 Bioshock 1 and give it a try again, but not sure now after playing 2. Might just skip it and buy Fallout NV Gunrunners Arsenal dlc instead...

Bioshock 1 truly did something special with the atmosphere and story telling, the combat is lame but it's truly worth seeing all the way through IMO. For me, the Fallout NV Gunrunners dlc just added weapons I didn't care about. The only reason I bought it was that I wanted to get all the achievements for the game which by the way, you can screw yourself out of if you're in the late game because you likely have already killed the unique people or creatures without the DLC weapons therefore prevented an achievement unlock unless you start over.

Just started a brand new character in new vegas, haven't even left the starter area yet, so no worries there. I dunno, I'll play Bioshock 2 a little more and then sleep on it before making a final decision.

Regarding those 5$ Gamestop giveaways of past thursdays: does any of you remember when that money expires? was it 31st dec of the current year?

The story is better in Bioshock 1 (probably one of the best in videogames, or any medium really), but I think the gameplay is better in Bioshock 2. Once you can duel wield a weapon and a plasmid it's hard to go back to switching off instead.

Bioshock released at a time when really good atmosphere and storytelling wasnt as common in console games, and it was one of the first games that looked and sounded "next gen". I remember coming out of the water at the very beginning and being blown away. By the time 2 released the competition had caught up a bit and it just didnt feel the same as the first. I did enjoy Bioshock 2 though, just not as much as the first or Infinite.

A Bioshock episode is worth than what I paid for the full game.

I am never going to be able willing to spend these $30 I've got locked up in XBL cash.

AC Revelations is the next AC game in my backlog. Everyone is always down on it, so I keep putting it off. Should I skip it, or soldier on for the story?
Play it, I did like it a lot. It wraps up Ezio's trilogy nicely although the modern day/animus stuff is not very good. It's a much better game than 3.

"Update: A Microsoft spokesman replied that "with Xbox One, you are able to transfer add-on content from Xbox 360 to Xbox One for certain titles. We are working with Zen Studios to bring this feature to Pinball FX 2.""
Ridiculous if they aren't able to do this for ZP2. They must have got a lot of negative feedback when they announced it, and rightly so.

If the developer is cool with making their games cross-buy, MS shouldn't be holding that back.

Regarding those 5$ Gamestop giveaways of past thursdays: does any of you remember when that money expires? was it 31st dec of the current year?
iirc, you have to redeem the codes by Dec 31st, and then the credit expires 1 year from date of redemption. (the second part I'm sure of)

Buy 1, give up on 2.

I'd be okay with them not being crossbuy between 360 and Xbone if they were crossbuy between 360 and PC. :)

Need some help, does anyone know if there is a way to check the codes i have redeemed or the amount redeemed by each of those codes ?
I'm assuming you mean xbox codes, you can input them on the 360 (not sure about One) and it should bring up another screen that says the value, just be sure to press B to go back if you don't want to input it. If its invalid/used it will say code has been used.

Revelations is probably my favorite in the series so far (haven't played Black Flag yet). So I say definitely play it.
My favorite as well (other than the first one) revelations was better than brotherhood and half of 2 was a tutorial. So many people nostalgia and forget that.

Thanks, but i was referring to the date they were redeemed on.

Thanks, just checked what i needed to.

I think it was the worst one I've played (I have not played 4). The plot was so bad and the backstory sections were abysmal. I couldn't bring myself to finish it. Although, if you didn't have a sour taste in your mouth after Brotherhood, you might like it.

was excited for battleblock moved the 360 upstairs to get a connection annnd man is it over rated. at least i got an avatar item as it has already been deleted seems like an hd version of the alien hominid pda games which I played 10 years ago
alien hominid is a shoot em up. battleblock is a platformer. you dont know what youre talking about

For those of you with OCD and obsess over your backlog like me....do you do crazy shit like come up with "play lists" that you're constantly restructuring in a seemingly futile effort in cleaning up your backlog? Or is it just me that's doing that.

The closest thing to a list I'll do, is an achievement list. Although I did print off a list of Dark Souls items needed for achievements. I thought about a schedule for backlog games, but decided against it.

My backlog is only 8 games, but yeah, I have a list and update it when I get new games (like the free GwG). The priority is to finish disc based games first so I can trade them in or to finish multiplayer games before the community dries out (like Gotham City). Everything else is listed in order of which ones I think are fastest to complete.

Me too. My list's priorities are Disc based games with online due to my paranoia constantly reminding me that XBL online will eventually be taken down. So to sum it all up it would be like this: 1) Discs with online. 2) Digital with online. 3) Disc w/o online. 4) Digital w/o online. And in between each category i choose the ones i would like to play the most. However i chose this order almost a year ago and i am currently playing Dark Souls 2 (Which i 1000'd 2 months ago) and World of Tanks and keep drowning in unplayed games. Hail the backlog.

I traded in my PvZ: Garden Warfare XB1 physical copy at Gamestop today for $24 in credit, then turned around and bought the digital version for $23.99. A good trade, since it's the kind of game I'd rather own digitally and fire up anytime to play a couple of rounds.

That's why I did the same last time it was on sale.

i said the pda games. a side game in alien hominid which plays just like battle block theater. you dont know what your talking about. idiot
i never played those so i had to look them up but the fact that you would compare them in terms of the same level of quality shows youre the idiot. thats like comparing spider man on atari 2600 to a spider man game on 360/PS3 and being like yeah the 360/PS3 versions suck, i played the atari version.

i dont think there is a story in pda games. i dont think there is multiplayer in pda games. i dont think there are different modes in pda ganes. i dont think there is a level and campaign creator in pda games. i dont think theyre even close in terms of in game content, yet you compare them like they are and you didnt even fully playthrough atleast one of them, maybe both. idiot

Didn't realize it was still getting that much. Gonna do the same, since that's a game I plan on keeping forever. I'll also get 600 points back from the XBL rewards. :)
I need to check on that. I've been spending like crazy and don't think it's been giving me credit for purchases. Know I'm signed up but don't think I'm getting credit.

Unless you don't get credit for spending XBL money?

You get it for XBL money, I never buy with money and I've gotten points for every $10 I spent.

The higher your gamerscore the more points back you get. They usually tally it up at the end of the month. Also, once you get 5000, they automatically put $5 in your account. That might be why, they may have been adding it but you never noticed.

I think they put all the rebate points at the end of the month. Either that or I only buy games at the end of the month (which would be weird). You can check "MyStatements" for when stuff gets added.

For those of you with OCD and obsess over your backlog like me....do you do crazy shit like come up with "play lists" that you're constantly restructuring in a seemingly futile effort in cleaning up your backlog? Or is it just me that's doing that.
Your post inspired me to make a list of games that I want to complete and ones that I still need to play for Gamerscore. With only digital games that somehow survived my HD cleanings, I have 31 that I'd like to complete before I stop playing 360 forever. Probably won't happen because of all the October games coming to Xbox One though.

Might be both crazy and futile, but what I have is a giant per system excel spreadsheet that tracks games, achievements earned and not, time spent, money spent, dollar per hour of time spent, and of course totals. So I can sort it by all of those and play ones that I need achievements in or have a high dollar per hour, etc. Supes OCD.
