This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

How is the banjo bundle? Worth the $15? Cause probably no chance of a cheaper price anytime soon right? I'm considering it but haven't played a banjo game in years and years

It's very much worth it. For some inexplicable reason, I didn't like the little bit of Banjo-Kazooie that I played when it released on the N64, despite loving platforming games. But I got this bundle and fell in love. Pretty much my only issue is the camera, but that was a problem in most games of this type in the mid-late 90's.

Hey brahs, my xbox 360 kept freezing so I ran through the steps on Xbox.Com.

Basically it works good when I take out the Hard Drive. So its telling me its the hard drive.

Anyways so, it has to be that right, if I replace it, it won't freeze anymore.

I have read multiple times that some 500GB hard drives work on the xbox 360. Any recommendations?

Can anyone inform me or direct me to some that would work? I would love the bigger amount of space.

Maybe you should wait till microsoft gets their shit together.

It’s come to our attention that some of you are seeing a black screen when attempting to launch games and applications. Hang in there, Xbox members, we’re on it! Thanks for your patience while we work to resolve this issue. We’ll update you again as soon as we have more information.

Source?

Also it has not problem loading the discs when I start them on the 360 without the hard drive.

But yeah if this is for the 360 I will wait. Would like a source though.

A temporary 'fix' from xbox forums:

try:

1:Disabling "auto sign in" on all profiles

(auto sign-in is under profile>sign-in preferences)

2: then restart console and don't sign in

3: launch game and sign-in After the game loads

I had the black screen issue last night on my xone. What worked was unplugging it for 30 seconds then holding both the DVD ejector and power buttons at the same time to power on. I don't know why, but it was after an update.

Thanks guys, was already planning everything out lol
If it was freezing with the hard drive in and doesn't have any issues at all without the hard drive then it's probably the hard drive. My 360 hard drive went bad on me last year. I've just been using 32 gigs of an external hard drive... Yes it sucks.

Anyone that has played battlefield 4 and Has premium, is it worth it? Or does the game suck that bad that I shouldn't bother getting premium while it's on sale?

Anyone that hasn't played it recently on XO,PS4 will say its horrible. But for XO/PS4 the game is finally pretty good. Still quite a few bugs but most if not all the major ones have been ironed out on current gen systems.

Previous gen systems are at least playable. Still some major bugs, but you can at least get Into games now, lol.

As for premium, so far you get 1 expacs that's all old maps, 1 expac that is mediocre maps and one that is pretty good. I barely have played Dragons Teeth so I won't comment on that and one more expac later. You also get 10ish gold battle packs, some custom emblems/weapon skins, more likely to get into official DICE servers, and also new game modes which are niche mostly but fun.

Overall for $35 for season pass is a pretty good price point if you like BF games. $50 was too much for me as I haven't been blown away by any of the content yet.

Again I would only recommend BF4 on current gen system XO/PS4.

XO is what im talking about. I'll be getting the EA access and since battlefield 4 is included with thatmI'm just trying to decide if I should buy premium since it's on sale, but don't want to waste the money if its not worth it.

Sooooo now that the X-One (I like that, sounds like a Star Wars ship) has had GwG for multiple months, does anyone have personal experience of having "purchased" XO games prior to owning one and after the month has passed--and having purchased the system afterwards--been able to go back and physically see (with one's own eyes) that they do in fact own the rights to download said GwG for free?

Also, since I'm spitballing random hardware questions that everyone is sure to ignore, I've asked this several times in several forums and never found an answer either way: has anyone tried to partition and/or clone-then-shrink a thumbdrive for the 360 and have e console think it's more than one drive? (EG. Take a 64gb drive partition it as two ~32gb drives when plugged in--OR format a 32gb drive on the console then pullout the file system, clone it and shrink the two to fit back on the drive, viola! Profit?)

While I personally have not, I have friends who "purchased" the GwG on Xbox.com, bought a system, and were then able to search for the game and it allows them to install for free. They did it for Max and Halo:SA about 15 or 20 days after Halo was taken away from the GwG offerings.

As for the second part, I understand what you're asking and why you'd want to do it, but have never personally tried it. What I HAVE done is say get a 32 GB thumbdrive, inserted it into the 360 and told it to only partition 16 GB of it, and then I could use the other 16 for regular use on my PC.

In my experience, once you format a thumbdrive once, it won't allow you access to the menu to "split" it again. It has always asked you to either A) Remove the X GB partition, or B) Resize the partition, which would remove/remake what you already have

I have tried every way from Sunday, with flash drives and a couple of terrabyte drives and have never gotten the Xbox 360 to see more than one partition from a single drive.

Wanted a racing game for GWG, nice try MS ;)... I already own this! It was on sale around Christmas for under $5. There is a lot to do in it though and it can be quite fun.

Super excited for Dishonored later this month!

Another XBOX One related Games With Gold question:

Does Games with Gold on the XBOX One work identically to PS+ in that if you let a gold subscription lapse but then down the line get a Gold subscription again do you re-gain access to all the games you lost by letting gold expire?

As in I have Halo: SA now, my Gold expires in September and I lose access to it.  Would I get it back if I got a Gold subscription in November or have I just lost the game forever?

As in I have Halo: SA now, my Gold expires in September and I lose access to it. Would I get it back if I got a Gold subscription in November or have I just lost the game forever?
Yes, you should have access to the games again. I haven't actually tried but will in 14 days.

I have tried every way from Sunday, with flash drives and a couple of terrabyte drives and have never gotten the Xbox 360 to see more than one partition from a single drive.
I spent the past 30 minutes testing an idea and I think I just did it. I figured out a way to take a large flash/external drive and break it into multiple 32gb partitions. The 360 can only see one at a time and you need a PC to select which one you want the 360 to see at the moment, but it works!

Enlighten us when you can confirm, oh wise sage! I think people are sick of using flimsy flash drives. Currently trying to backup to a mac in virtual machine.

So, it's the first of the month and I logged in to the Xbox rewards page like I do at the beginning of every month and...no survey. At least not one I can find (on my phone currently). Have they done away with it or just not posted it yet? I thought it was usually available on the first.

I knew, of course, that the partitions could be made (with a PC), but you've tried mounting and assigning all partitions as active with drive letters and using whichever file system the Xbox prefers but with no luck having the console see more than one at a time? Hrmph. I guess that's my answer then.

Profit?)
Games you bought should be under My Games, scroll to the right if needed, and under the Ready to Install area.

While I appreciate the reply, I was asking solely to 100% quell the speculation once-and-for-all, for all of us last-gen "hanger-on'ers" who have been going on xbox.com and "purchasing" the free Xbox One games prior to owning the actual console, that last month's (and prior months') games are really actually there to download.

For now, that one CAG's testimonial (xbltheshadow) of "his friend" will do, even though it might as well be another "friend-of-a-friend" story, it at least beats the pure speculation of interpreting fineprint and taking journalists' word-for-it that it works.

So my final take on the Slim Trade in gaffe at Best Buy is:

Traded my 2 2011 slims for $606. Bought a new 360 and an Xbox One for $610.

Went back on Tuesday and got a $50 XBL card in a DOTD price match and they refunded $1.33 to my card.

Went back today and got a $39.49 BB GC from them manually running the 10% USPS moving coupon. Was gonna point out the 360 purchase, but I didn't want to push my luck...

Insane. And people wonder why I love looking at this website all the time...

Looks like the new Titanfall dlc Frontier's Edge is now out. Are there any good indie games coming out in august for x1? X1 needs something besides Metro Redux and Diabro 3.
Depends on what you like. I BELIEVE Pure Pool is supposed to show up (launched 7/29 on PS4), and The Golf Club has been announced as a summer release and they said that it was submitted for initial approval on 7/11. Pinball FX2 has also been delayed into August, in the name of table imports from the 360. That's the only trio I know of on the indie front in August.

The more I stew over EA Vault, the more I like the idea. I just did the one month subscription and am downloading Fifa, Madden, and Battlefield as I type.
Yeah, whenever I get a chance, I might give it a one-month trial. $5 is kind of a rip-off when compared to $30/year, but I also want to play Madden while still trying to evaluate if this is a worthwhile investment long-term. I don't want to commit to a year for just Madden 25 (don't care about the other 3).

So, I grabbed Strike Suit Zero and Crimson Dragon.

Strike Suit Zero does not feel like a next gen game at all. It feels like Star Fox, with all of the things that made Star Fox fun, removed. Add in a Japanese "mech" feel, a crappy soundtrack, and nausea-inducing controls that feel like you've had a few drinks; and that about sums up this game. Can't argue with free though.

Crimson Dragon is okay, from what I played of the first mission. Again, the controls are sh#t, but a little more bearable than Strike Suit Zero.

I don't see myself really going back to either of these games, (maybe if I'm hard up for some achievements later), but they were free, and I don't feel cheated on that price. At the very least, them being free now gets them out of the roster, and opens up better games for the taking next month.
In fairness, Strike Suit Zero is an early-2013 indie PC release. It's a ported game that wasn't released this generation. I don't foresee loving either game, but since there's nothing out on the retail front until .ate-September/early-October, I'll probably play them anyway.

I most likely will do the same for BF4. Treat it as a $5 month long rental for now. When more games are added then I may jump on the yearly option. It will probably turn out to be an excellent value about a year from now.

Random question, did I space out and completely miss the Summer of Arcade this year or did they just not do that promo? I don't recall seeing a Spring one either for that matter. Haven't been paying much attention to XBLA pretty much all year as the quality of sales/new game releases has seemingly dried up almost entirely. I know there were a couple big sales so far this year, but most of the content wasn't new and/or wasn't discounted enough. I've found myself more and more buying content on PSN, anyone else feeling the same? The discounts with PS+ are just so much better (really they have been since the start of the program), that and I seem to have nearly everything I want on XBLA at this point anyway except for newer releases that have yet to go on sale.

Yes, I got the first couple of months games through the site and later downloaded them for free months later when I got my x1. 100% confirmed.

No Summer of Arcade this year, some one speculated (and probably correctly) that they wont be doing any big new (arcade) game promos on the 360.

If I didn't get BF4 for $10 during the target fiasco, I would have done the same. I play CoD with friends so BF series is a nice break. Since the XO got support for larger scale it was a no brainer this time.

I suppose it's better when you think of it from that perspective (cost of a rental, rather than relative cost to the annual). I'd get it to play Madden, mostly with my cousin. I have no one I'd play BF4 with, and that franchise has never really interested me (mostly due to EA, the bugs, and Origin). I really wish they'd have planned for a 2014 NFS so Rivals would get put in.

For you U.S. folks these prices might seem normal (if not else on Black Fridays and such), but I've found myself a phat 250 Gb Xbox 360, bundled with Final Fantasy XIII, plus obviously all the standard stuff like the controller, headset, wires, etc. for 99 Euros. It really is new, it was actually unsold (forgotten?) in a shop, only just recently brought out at a massive discount. I don't exactly "need" it, but my X360 is 5 years old and I've been long fearing it breaking (no issues so far), plus with my limited HDD space, one more drive is always welcome, given the official ones' insane price. Same goes for controllers and headsets - since I do screw 'em up from time to time, it's some backup I suppose. Plus I don't have Final Fantasy XIII and I always wanted to give it a shot (possibly without spending much money). And, why not, let's have 2 X360s in two different rooms. I'm aware many have multiple consoles but for me this is pretty awesome, especially given the price which is way lower than I would have got the HDD, the controller and the game - and there's even a brand new console in it.

Before investing into One (Chistmas here I come), here's my insurance (given it's gonna have the usual 2-3 years warranty as well) for a long time 360 usage. While I can't wait to get a One, I have 350+ games on the 360, so it's definitely not going on retirement anytime soon, not even after I get the One. A final hardware investment to make sure my console(s) will last for a long long time.
