This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

So anyone here play Titanfall on the 360? I am trying to play it but it just won't connect to the servers. Getting really close to trading it without playing since I got it cheap at Kmart.
I play on 360. I used to have awful troubles with the server ... then I moved my wireless router to the same room as ny console and it improved massively. Still get the occasional server drop, but those seem to affect everyone in the match.

"Betraystation" was when I couldn't play Soul Calibur III because at the time I only had a Dreamcast and GameCube.
LOL! Same here. SC3 is the only SC game I don't have. I've even bought 2 copies of SC2 (GC & Xbox).

It's a shame that "Damnco-Badguy" did such a lousy job with SC5.

By the time ROTTR comes out next December, the X1 install base will be significantly higher. Halo 5 and the MCC is going to move a ton of systems, nobody can dispute that. Its not like the system is doing poorly right now anyway. Its just not getting by on hype at an astonishing rate like Sony is.
I loved they brought in old pros to the unveiling event for the remastered Halo 2/ MCC. Seeing Flamesword and his epic beard, pistola and the rest at the revealing brought back some old memories ala Gamebattles on USA network.

Overall you can tell the maps weren't made for true HD and look sort of overlayed background but the map itself looks amazing, but I didn't expect much more given how bright some of them originally were.

I think it is more surprising that Phil announced that instead of keeping it secret than finding out the game is timed exclusive. Probably would've convinced a few people it would only be on Xbox forever without actually saying it (I think they already had). I'm going to guess 6 months to a year, but it would be funny if it ended up being something like a couple days or ridiculously long like 9,999 years.

All of Phil's comments just lead me to believe it will someday come out on PC, especially when he compares it to the Ryse and Dead Rising 3 deals. I suppose there's always a chance is could come to PS4 eventually. I never thought Mass Effect would make it, but here we are.

Someone mentioned that Microsoft wouldn't compensate them for losing 2 million unit sales on other platforms? You really don't think MS has $120 million to throw around for an exclusive game? How much did they give Activision to delay some CoD dlc maps by a few weeks? $120mil is nothing.

I wanted to love SCV but something was missing. I'd love to hear that SCVI is coming and it's something fresh for the series.

They aren't throwing around anywhere near that amount of money that's for sure. From an article I read (Crappy author aside) he did make some good points from his own perspective.

-Microsoft is likely lending Engineer's and other employees to the project in order to insure it runs in the best condition it can, and to also leverage some work off of Square Enix.

-Microsoft will likely be paying to market the game. That'll go along way since Square Enix usually blows at that, not to mention Microsoft can better position and market the game in markets that Square Enix isn't very knowledgeable in (Since they are a Japanese Company).

-Microsoft can reduce the console royalty fees that publishers get charged for games, in turn Microsoft doesn't pay anything out of pocket and SE makes more money in the long run.

I didn't even think about FF7. That's a great example, though there haven't been any cases like that in almost 20 years. I also thought you said "Betraystation" and found that hilarious.

The Tomb Raider doesn't count since it wasn't "years" at all.

PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you a cookie.

Now you're trying to backpedal. Your previous post made it sound like it should be apparent to everyone why Tomb Raider would be a non-timed Xbox exclusive. Then you deride PlayStation customers to further mitigate your embarrassment. Can't you make a non-politician mea culpa?

Lol I'm not trying to backpedal, I was wrong that it was exclusive forever. But my original post was aimed at the fact that this situation and the Mass Effect situation are different, which they are. Obviously, the end result may be the same in that Rise of the Tomb Raider will end up on Playstation, just as Mass Effect did.

In any case, I too am a PS customer so I'm not berating PS customers in general, just the fanboys posting asinine comments on sites like IGN.

The unfortunate thing is I am directly connected to the internet. The game is running poorly also. The title screen runs for about 3 seconds and then freezes for about 5 seconds over and over. I lose all control my controller. I have tried 3 times now to connect to a server for about 45 minutes each time and I get nothing. I really want to try the game out but this is just too much.

Signed up for EA Access and I want to trade in BF4 so I'll trade-in my physical copy of Titanfall and get the digital version. Don't think there'll be that many good trade-in opportunities for this games in the future.

Credit to Wario. It looks like MS is selling digital games on Amazon. Don't know if it's credit or the game though.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00MNL0C52/212-53-20/

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00MNKZ8OI/189-27-20/

edit: Just tested it and it's a download code for the game and not credit to buy it.
Too bad the only ones they appear to have are those two, both of which are/were free.

Is it sad that my "favorites" on XBO are still mainly just shadowrun players?

The CoD Advanced Warfare Xbox One bundle is tempting.  Not sure if it is worth an extra $100 for the digital copy since I usually play CoD about a month and then trade it in.  The 1 TB HD is the biggest selling point.

Save that $100 and put it towards an external hdd to attach at a later point?

1TB ain't shit. As big as those games are the HD will fill up real quick. I went and got a 3TB jammie, that should be sufficient.

I wouldn't spend an extra $100 on a 500-GB storage increase. You can buy a 1-TB external for $75 or less, and if you have GCU at Best Buy, you can get CoD for $50. So, for an extra $25, you'll have 500 GB of additional space, and you can trade in CoD when you're bored of it, probably for $35-40, if it's really only a month after launch.

Great points! Thanks I will stick with my original plan of hoping for some good Holiday bundles and then get an external.  With the PS4 currently outpacing the One 2:1 I think MS will have to do something else to sweeten this pot.

So I finally redeemed enough bing points for a month free of gold. Question, will this work for the Gold games, and also to get the most out of it when should I activate (like the 15th evening so I can get 2 games this month and possibly 2 next month?)

Afraid to mention thats from the ben kuchera on polygon article?

Hes gottan TERRIBLE since he left PA.

Yes.

No earlier than the 17th. Gold usually expires a day earlier than projected on Xbox.com.

Well that was a short lived experiment with Titanfall on the 360.  Traded it to BBY since they were giving $21 without the need to pre-order anything.  I bought it for $9.30 cash (plus $10 in SYWR points) so I am really not out anything and converted points to BBY cash which I will most likely turn into a Kindle card.  I do not have time to waste waiting for a server to actually let me play.  Maybe by the time I get an Xbox One the community will be ok and I can still try it there.  I am borrowing my friend One this week since he is on vacation so I am tempted to get the digital version.

Nice. Wondering if it's due for an official release soon provided it's not an accidental leak.

One also has to wonder if the achievements are live for it or not as well.

I'll let you know shortly on the cheevo part. Almost done downloading. And the release date says 8/28 online and on console

Just played Sorcerer's Lair on XB1 and was able to import one the Marvel collections for free I bought on 360 (which might have been the only set I purchased, as I'm not great at pinball).  The Core Collection came up as something I owed and allowed me to purchase for free, but it didn't seem to install.

*edit* checking my purchase history, I also bought Ms. 'Plosion Man and PvZ, but those aren't in the game on XB1 yet.

There's 10 cheevos with gamerscore and a shit ton without. All the ones with are based on the sorcerer's lair table.
Noticed that when a friend of mine started the game (pulled up the achievement list from his friend feed on TA). I was under the impression that the DLC tables were going to be worth 50G. Also not being separated into DLC packs, one has to wonder if they're not fully set up yet.

Is that just the tables, or the entire game for free?
The tables are the game - the "game" is more of a launcher for the tables you've purchased. One table is included with the free game (launcher) - Sorcerer's Lair (which is the only table with achievements worth Gamerscore). You then buy additional tables separately if you want additional content, ranging from $3 (one table) to $10 (packs of three or four tables).

The tables that are part of DLC packs are grouped together in the menu, but it is hard to tell where one pack starts/stops (unless it's a pack of four, then they're all on the same row). The nice thing is, the tables you have purchased/installed are in color, while the non-purchased tables are black/white (meaning the icons).

From their FAQ

"What about achievements?

Sorcerer's Lair (the free table that is included) has 10 achievements worth a total 1000 gamerscore. The rest of the tables have 1 achievement (10 GS each), except for the Deadpool table which has 2 achievements (also 10 GS each)."
