This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Doesn't State of Decay have an annoying feature where your world degrades (decays) over time, even if you don't play it? I.e., the zombies keep multiplying even if you take a few week break from playing?

When I read that, I basically lost all interest in the game.
Pretty sure they patched this, it was why i was holding out. And I think I bought it as soon as they fixed this.

I'm also pretty sure this was patched, and I had no issues when I played it and took a couple day break in between. You also used to actually lose players who would die while the game was off, but they fixed that too.

Ahhh... Yes, they did fix this. Too bad I didn't know that. I would have bought this time.

At first, you could go to sleep at night and when you opened the game a day later, your players could have already been killed by someone becoming a zombie in your group while you weren't playing the game. fuck that. Who thought that would be a good idea in the first place???

Edit: Ninja'd by Tyler.

Yeah - the IGN reviewer had his main leveled up player die overnight one night when he was sleeping because someone in the safehouse succumbed to a bite and killed his character. That shit would have pushed me over the edge in a game.

My backlog is so disgusting I did not even purchase games that were .99 cents. I am almost proud of myself. I think I would have purchased DMC if it was offered.

For me that wouldn't work. I can not play a game again for a week or more, so my character would die out of the gate. I think if they included that idea as another game mode for hardcore users would have been cool, but no way should it have been the only game mode.

Well My take was modest in hindsight....

Reach
Batman AC
Bejeweled
Alan Wake AN

I just noticed that I got the invite to beta test the new XBox One software improvements....anyone doing this?
I got the email saying blah blah ambassador that helps blah so you have been chosen to preview beta as a thank you.

Then I download the registration app and it says I'll know in a few days if I'll be accepted, there is a chance I may not be accepted.

The biggest downside I've noticed, is that you won't be able to join parties with people that don't have the preview. It sucks if you want to play matchmaking with friends. For voice chat, you can use Skype, so that aspect isn't too bad.

Well Dark Souls II is releasing next month...
I realize that. However, many games get sequels and the original doesn't go on sale shortly before release. If they put it on sale once I would chalk it up as a marketing ploy. Three times in the span of a few weeks is mighty suspicious.

Oblivion at $3.75 is an absolute steal, I already own the GOTY edition but I picked it up anyway. I think it still holds up today, even after I've put a ton of time into Skyrim. It got a little repetitive toward the end, I kind of started losing interest in the main quest after a while, but there's a ton of stuff to do in the mean time so you don't get burnt out on it.

Final haul:

Pool Nation $1

Bejewled 3 $1

Oblivion $3.75

Puzzle Quest 2 $3

I'm a sucker for any retail game under 5 bucks and any XBLA game for a dollar. Had to bite on Puzzle Quest, I played the first one on PSP a ton so it was a no brainer.

So last night I said I would download the trial to Puzzle Quest 2. Press A to continue.

Then I woke up. Press A to continue. It was still downloading so I worked out. NO MORE MOVES. I came back and it was finished downloading. Press A to Continue. I loaded the game and pressed Start. Then I pressed A to continue after every Press A to continue sentence  press A to continue. and every press A to continue enemy bio NO MORE MOVES screen and directional prompt. I NO MORE MOVES thought this was like a Press A to continue Bejeweled 3 mode with some point and click directions.

And it sucked. Wow, Puzzle Quest 2 is terrible. It's like a Bejeweled RPG with constant dialogue that forces you to press A to continue. How do I know? Because the onscreen prompt says so.  More than half the time I played, the screen said there was no more mana therefore NO MORE MOVES.  And the goblin boss replenishes his life after every strike/combo I made against him which is a load of crap.

Save your $3 and buy Bejeweled 3 for $1 which offers so much more. With the money saved, you can "buy" another game called Candy Crush. Then with those $2 you save on Candy Crush (which has less "no more moves" than Puzzle Quest), you could use those funds on "weapons" and still have more fun. Even $1 on Candy Crush is better than the repetitive annoyance that is Puzzle Quest 2.

Or just buy Zuma's Revenge. Too many Bejeweled clones out there anyway.

Final haul: Bastion (forgot to mention it in my previous post) and Dante's Inferno.

It's a marketing ploy by MS. More copies of Dark Souls = more consoles broken in frustration = more new consoles = more new people moving on to Xbox One.

Sorry to hear about your experience, but the press A to continue thing is pretty much the essence of older RPG's, whose structure Puzzle Quest 2 resembles a lot. The no more moves is pretty rare if you understand the game by the way, in fact it can be used strategically along with magic to make sure it never happens when it's your turn. Bejeweled 3 is a great game and I can't stop recommending it, but Puzzle Quest 2 has an extremely long campaign with multiple very different characters, tons of loot, plenty of side-missions and online play. That's a lot of content. Comparing it to Candy Crush which is only based on luck after 10-15 levels is absolutely out of place, since PQ2 requires strategy and logic (sorry if you didn't notice that), while success in Candy Crush only depends on your board, and how lucky you get with the random drops after a while - or how much you're willing to spend on boosters, gold or whatever. The fact you didn't understand Puzzle Quest 2 doesn't mean it's more repetitive than Candy Crush (are you for real? how long did you play the game to even say that? CC has like 2 gamemodes, PQ2 has different kinds of battles, forging, multiplayer, etc.), nor it means that it's a bad game which most certainly isn't.

Came away with:

Brothers

The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 1

Guardians of Middle-Earth

The Cave

State of Decay

Oblivion

Pool Nation

All for 25 bucks. Pretty sore at myself for missing out on Bastion, Bit Trip Runner 2, Hell Yeah Dead Rabbit... Been wanting those games for awhile but wasn't even aware of the sale at that point. Kinda wishing I would've picked up Mortal Kombat too, but oh well, can't complain...

Downloading the Ridge Racer Unbounded demo right now. I'm really interested in Flatout gameplay and that track editor.

Driver: SF is a great game as well as Dirt 3. Dirt 3 was the sole reason I skipped Forza: Horizons.

I agree. I LOVED the original Puzzle Quest (played through completely on the PSP). PQ2 is a deeper, more fleshed out version, with wonderful graphics, "battles" (gem matching), quests, loot, etc. The only thing I didn't like about PQ2 were the levels where you had a set layout, and had to remove all gems through matching (forgot what they are called). The early ones were easy, but they got much harder later. Overall a great game, well worth the asking price!

Truth right here. Comparing Candy Crush to this game is beyond wrong. Hell of a game and EASILY worth $3.

The only possible reason for skipping Puzzle Quest 2 (other than having played it already) is not wanting to stall the backlog. That game's a drug and will take dozens of hours away from your life. Same can be said of Bejeweled 3, though.

Would anyone care to sell me on Dirt 3?

Not really into rally racing, but it would be nice to have a racing game since my digital copy of Horizon got fucked by an error.

I got Dirt 2 on sale for the same price a while ago, and it's amazing. Great graphics, great control, good looking damage, tons of cars and gamemodes, and an overall very polished package. I also bought the 3rd one on this sale, and from what I know it focuses more on gymkhana and "extreme" stuff rather than the more classical races of 2, but I'm sure the polish and overall quality is there. 2 was DEFINITELY worth it for 5 bucks, can't see why the sequel shouldn't be. Codies makes some pretty badass racing games overall.

Does anyone know for sure if there will be more daily deals for Tuesday or if the ultimate sale continues another week?

Final haul this sale :

Bastion, Hell Yeah :WOTDR, SC 2 HD, WD S2 Ep1, PQ2, Pool Nation, NiGHTS into Dreams, Dirt 3, ME1, RB Blitz, RR Unbounded and Overlord 2 for a bit over $40, give or take.

Just learned that I didn't get an offer from the job interview last week and kinda went on a spending frenzy this morning to relieve some stress...... It turns out spending money doesn't help much and only adds buyer's remorse.  :wall:

Won't know for sure until it happens or Major Nelson blogs about it. Most likely not though, don't remember any other time where daily deals went on beyond a week except during the Christmas sales (and maybe summer sales?).

It sounds like you don't play many RPGs. That's how Puzzle Quest gained recognition in the first place - it billed itself as RPG-meets-Bejeweled. You're also not managing your mana properly if you really ran into the "no more moves" as often as you said you did. It would be like playing Mario and never getting power-ups, so obviously you always die in one hit, then you're like, "Wow, this game sucks." If you give the game more than five minutes, hopefully it will click with you if you try again.

Oblivion was fun, until all those damned gates popped up. The dungeons inside the gates weren't fun to fight through and there were entirely too many of them. I just got Skyrim (for a dollar at a pawn shop... hee hee!) and while I haven't played much of it, I suspect that battling huge dragons will be ten times more enjoyable than the gordian-knotted hellscapes of Oblivion.

Anyway! Here's what I got from the sale:

Capcom Arcade Cabinet

Radiant Silvergun

Bejeweled 3

Ridge Racer Unbounded

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

Persona 4: Arena

Dirt 3

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Mortal Kombat

NiGHTS into Dreams

Dark Souls (yes, I caved, and I hate myself for it)

That's a pretty big haul, I'd say! I won't be able to download most of these for a while, but I have played a few of the Arcade titles. Brothers looks like it won't have much replay value, but it makes smart use of the twin thumbsticks and its graphics are melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Capcom Arcade Cabinet I didn't really need to buy, since Black Tiger was free and the other two games I've got on Capcom collections for the previous Xbox, but what the heck. Radiant Silvergun was rewritten especially for the Xbox 360 hardware and it's never looked better, although the Xbox 360 controller isn't a good fit for the game... my kingdom for a six button controller! Then there's Bejeweled 3, which is probably more entertaining than it should be for a dollar. I'm not big on Match 3 type games, but this is admittedly one of the better ones.

Words cannot express my disappointment with Ridge Racer Unbounded, which looks keen but isn't nearly as fun or forgiving as the eight year old Burnout Revenge. I bought Peace Walker as an introduction to the Metal Gear series; I would have gotten Metal Gear Solid 3 instead but of course, it wasn't on sale. I don't have the patience for stealth action games (excluding Sly Cooper) but I figured I'd make one more run at 'em before swearing off the genre permanently. Persona 4 Arena and Mortal Kombat should scratch my fighting game itch for a while. I'm a little disappointed to hear that P4A plays like BlazBlue, which I did NOT like, but it's likely the only way I'd ever experience a Persona game. I'm curious about Mortal Kombat; I had a love/hate relationship with the earlier games in the series but it quickly turned into hate when Deadly Alliance and the other 3D games were released. I'm hoping the new MK puts the series back on the right track. And Dirt 3, well, I love Sega Rally Championship on the Saturn to pieces and I'm hoping it's even half the game that it was.

I'm noticing a lot of animosity toward NiGHTS online and it makes me scratch my head. Were any of today's gamers even ALIVE when NiGHTS was released? Sure it's not your typical platformer, but the gameplay works if you give it an honest chance.

Can you play online or do we need to buy the vip pass ?
GoD games don't need online pass, they are already included in the game.

Depending on what's on sale in a few hours, I'll get DiRT3. I'm not into driving games, but damn, it looks fun.

Replaying Nights after all these years was the main reason I bought the XBLA a few months ago during a SEGA sale. While I haven't had the opportunity to complete the game it still looks and sounds unique. After all these years, Saturn, which was my first console still has some of my favorite games like Panzer Dragoon or Nights.

And now CAG please help me. I've bought Bastion, Pool Nation, Runner2 and LIMBO. I'm still debating over Driver and DIRT3 as after finishing Horizon, I am slowly going through Midnight Club LA. Is any of the two really unique and worth playing or are they going to rot in the backlog limbo forever. Are there any arcade racer other than Horizon and the original Most Wanted better than these two?

It's far from the great McRae rally games but it's a very good rally/racing game, they went back to Dirt 1's roots with focusing on more rally, with tons of fun, the gymkhana events make you feel like Ken Block, esp at that price. Here's me going mad crazy aggressive down a snowy, snow and night rally stages are new to the series, rally course.

Also you get to unlock a couple of areas where you can just mess around and try to go for objectives and collectibles -- I spent many hours in this mode lol. Here's me just recovering from dicking around.

I quite liked the variety that the game throws at you too. Like the below Invasion mode where you have to smash the evil aliens and not the skyscrappers representing the innocent populace.

They added the Shibuya Rallycross track, one of my favorites, from Dirt 2, -- in the Asia X Games DLC -- me passing on the first corner on that track. I also recommend the Monte Carlo DLC pack too.

Game also has split-screen, which I used a little with a friend, but mostly I was along with others online either racing or dicking around in the explorable areas.

TLDR

Get Dirt 3, it's one of the best racing games imo, falling back to Dirt 1's Rally racing roots with a flare of drifting and stunts with the Gymkhana, Free-Ride and Party Modes. Def recommend for the number of cars, tracks and locals.

Picked up Mass Effect, Fallout 3, TES: Oblivion, TES: Skyrim, Dante's Inferno.

The only other games I need now are gears of war (2,3,Judgment), halo, halo 3 :eek:dst, halo 4, resident evil 6, and Fallout new vegas and my entire xbox collection will have transferred to digital.

Damages to my wallet so far:

Bastion.

Dust: An elyssian tale.

Guardians of ME.

Soul Calibur II HD

Bejeweled.

That's 13.05 plus taxes. On the fence with Rock Band Blitz, Rock of Ages and Alan Wake AN; played all trials and liked them but i will wait for this week's sales to see if i can pull the trigger.

So sale is over tomorrow right? But nothing new tonight because last nights was technically today and today the last day?
No, there will be new sale items introduced tonight. There will be new items pegged as the "Deal of the Week" (gold exclusive), and possibly some sales open to everyone. Rumors are that they're going to do some DLC sales for next week, but I don't know if that is confirmed, or what could possibly be included (anyone have a reference?).

But yes, any sales currently up will be removed tomorrow.

I spent and bought more than I should. Bloody backlog.

My tally was:

Ridge Racer Unbounded - $4.99

Guardians of Middle-Earth - $1.04

Rock Band Blitz - $4.04

Runner 2 - $1.94

Capcom Arcade Cabinet - $1.74

Bejeweled 3 - $1.04

MGS Peace Walker - $4.94

The Walking Dead S2 - $0.99

Pool Nation - $0.99

Puzzle Quest 2 - $2.99

I would have bought more but MK wasn't available in Australia and a lot of the GoD titles were double the price here than what they were back in the USA. To be honest I'm almost hoping that the DOTW is something I already have as my wallet and backlog could use a break.

There was never rumor of a DLC sale or even a possibility of one. People just like to assume.
CAG: What do you think the chances are of a CAG like me and a corporation like you..having an ultimate DLC sale?

Microsoft: Well, CAG, that's difficult to say. I mean, we don't really...

CAG: Hit me with it! Just give it to me straight! I waited a long time just to see. The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances?

Microsoft: Not good.

CAG: You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?

Microsoft: I'd say more like one out of a million.

[pause]

CAG: So you're telling me there's a chance... *YEAH!*

I was able to resist most of these sales. I ended up only getting Runner 2 (and I'm loving this game too!). I'm considering Dirt 3, hopefully the DLC goes on sale for it eventually too since its way overpriced (and the complete edition is pretty pricey too).

Oh my god, I'm loving Rock of Ages, who would have thought rolling a boulder could be so much fun. Also love the artstyle and the humor.

Been on the fence with RR:Unbounded then saw the full game was just 1.6 GB. Think that's the push I needed. Heard a lot of people find it difficult to start, but it starts to click so that negates my feelings on the demo where I was getting smoked.

I can drift, but I was having a hard time doing that in RR:U. Do like all the destruction and the pseudo Burnout play.
