This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Just finally got around to booting up Ridge Racer Unbounded from the sale the other week. What a great game! Thanks for the recommendation in buying it (can't remember who it was). It's good too to have a great racer be able to sit on the HD and only take up 1.6 GB. I'm loving the fact that there's no stupid voiceover on it whereas the voice work in Burnout Paradise drives me batty. I am finding it very challenging though as it's one of those racers where if you make a single mistake you should basically just restart from the top. But I suppose that's more like real life anyways. But I think I had to replay the first race about 4 times before I made a 3rd place finish. It's certainly not a racer that holds you by the hand. And it perfectly balances arcade and real racing better than most games that straddle that line do.

Also it looks like Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition is coming to the XBone and the Xbox 360. It's not often that PS3 exclusives migrate to the 360, usually it's the other way. And it comes with all the DLC bundled in. Can't wait for a sale on this puppy!

'twas me, and I'm glad you're enjoying it. Frankly I forgot about it, but reading your difficulties I remember getting frustrated the first couple races, but after understanding the driving mechanics (and drifting, especially), earning podium finishes regularly became no issue really, though the game knows no hand-holding and if you crash every corner, there's no rubber-banding to make you catch up. It may not be the most original racer ever, but it's a lot of fun, pretty sexy, has tons of content, and it weighs less than many arcades, plus for 5$ there was hardly any reason not to get it.

It says 3/4 to 3/10 on the Xbox Video app on Xbox One. It's only for watching, so you have less than a week to get through 39 episodes. The rest of the seasons are $15.99 each.
You can cut off about 10 minutes on each episode by skipping the epilogue and prologue/credits. I hated how long those things took

You're not purchasing them, just streaming it. The purchase options still ask for money.
Hrm. On my wife's 360 I was able to purchase the season pass for season 1 on the 360. Wouldn't buying the season pass being the same as owning? It worked for me on Breaking Bad.

Not sure about the X1, I saw the same thing: Only allowed me to play the episodes, didn't see the season pass. I'll have to check later.

last I checked there is no option to buy. Other thank individual episodes which are $.99-$1.99.

This is what I saw on Xbox One's video store.

I had no problem getting the full season on 360. Saw the dashboard tile, clicked that and then the "FREE: Dragon Ball Z season 1" tile. Scrolled all the way to the right to "Season 1", selected "Buy Season" and it said it was free.

If you delete a video you previously purchased and wanted to download it again, do you have to pay for the video once again like you do on PSN?

He's right, you have to open up the Xbox Video App and search from there instead of looking through the ad. I got my season pass downloaded/purchased.
Where do you see buy season pass on the X1? I gave up and bought it on the 360 anyways since xbox video and music is backwards compatible.

Also, first world problems: My friend got the update and I didn't. Can't join his game and he can't join mine or invite me to the party. Thanks Obama.

There was no season pass option on Xbox One, just individual episodes or stream the season for free. I just started up my Xbox 360 to get around it anyway, so it doesn't matter anymore.

I did it straight from the Xbox Video thing on PC lol. I was able to buy the season for free that way.

I've always found best prices at CrazyGameTime.com . They are legit, I always get my codes in the mail within a few minutes. Only thing that can happen is they can go out of stock from time to time.

EDIT: Looks like they are out of stock on most cards right now, sorry.
No problem. I checked the website earlier because I had heard of them before and it seems that most CAG's have had positive experiences with them. Thanks for the recommendation! I will keep it in mind for the future.

Oh dag. My xone had dbz streaming only, so I will check out the pc or 360 route. I already own it on DVD, but would like the ability to watch without a disk. I am tempted to buy cell or buu saga. 15.99 is a good price.

Deal talk is slow.

Has anyone played the Game of Thrones game? I saw the Family Video down the road had it as a Rent 1 Get 1 Free game. Thinking about picking that up today. I took a shot at Captain America 2 weeks ago and it was fantastic and it was super easy to get 1000Gs

I bought the GoD version when it was on sale for cheap. As a pretty big fan of the books, I've found the story to be great (so far, I'll finish it one of these days) but the combat to be shitty. If you're a fan of the source material, throw it on easy and enjoy the story bits.

Wait. You still have video stores near you???

Sounds good enough lol. I'm a fan of the books and the show so I'll have to go pick it up

Family Video is all that survived here too, but they don't even have Tomb Raider for X1 :(

Redbox is getting X1 games finally. They bitched about DRM at E3 last year and they are taking this long to get X1 games. Cheese and crackers

I don't know how Family Video does it. They thrive in the region where my parents live.
Their prices are great! Maybe not $1-$2 like redbox, but you can walk in the day a movie is released and get it for $3-$4. Plus, redbox around me stocks only a few copies of each movie, where Family Video has dozens of copies, so you are more likely to get a copy. I love Family Video.

I will agree with this. The story is so awesome. I never finished it from about a year ago.. about a 3rd of the way through before I got distracted with life, but I still think about it to this day and I plan on going back. The combat is shitty though, but managable.

Got LoS: Mirror of Fate, unfortunately i already started playing LoS2; so i'll have to finish it and perhaps replay LoS1 before getting into MoF. Adding the fact that next week Dark Souls 2 comes out, so it's going to be a while until i get to play the whole trilogy. Hoping for shitty sales for at least a month so the backlog doesn't keep growing.

I also agree with this, bought the retail for 5 bucks and this is pretty accurate haven't finished it either =O

I think the GoD version was on sale for $5 or $10 bucks a few months ago and it's actually a bit of a gem for people who love the TV show or novels. It's a licensed game based on the HBO series so it utilizes the look of the series in rendering locations and characters. But it's a rare licensed game that isn't a mere cash grab. It's made by the same studio who made Of Orcs and Men, another underrated RPG that I'd highly recommend. And it's done with a fair bit of love, has appearances and voice work done by a handful of characters from the show and even includes a cameo by George A. A. Martin himself.

All told you're looking at a game that has around 30 hours of gameplay, so a lot of work did go into it. And if you're a Dragon Age: Origins fan then you're in luck as the game plays a lot like that in terms of how you explore small environments and how combat is automatic and focuses on tactics rather than arcade/action. It even looks a bit like Dragon Age: Origins, though I think from what I've seen that it renders the graphics a bit better, but don't expect good graphics, the textures are muddy and it isn't as pretty as Of Orcs and Men. The game itself is set just prior to the events of the tv show, so characters like Jon Arryn are still around and you get to spend some time in various places like Castle Rock, Riverspring and King's Landing.

Combat is a bit more boring than Dragon Age: Origin's mostly due to how magic isn't so common place in Westeros, so if you prefer playing RPG's with mage builds note that you're mostly just using an archer/fighter build here. And so combat is a bit tedious after a while though some interesting mechanics are used. For instance, when you bring up the combat wheel mid-fight it doesn't pause action like it does in DA:O. Instead it just slows time down by 1/20th or so, meaning that you're still being shot at or assailed by swords leading you to have to be quicker about choosing tactics which gives it a bit of a more dynamic feeling. There is some shape shifting and use of a dog and some other interesting things too but yes combat starts to weigh down on this as it's not all that fun. There is a "Mass Effect" style conversation wheel that does allow you to choose some interesting paths that do have consequences and the dialogue is mostly well done, though voice work is sorta patchy in places.

A bonus for those in Europe (and possibly in other PAL markets - I haven't checked if it's available here in Australia) is that there is a 2 hour long DLC pack that didn't come to North America due to the poor sales of the game in the USA/Canada. It is set 10 years earlier and explores the origins of Mors' nickname during events that took place beyond the wall. So those in Europe can definitely take advantage of that if they want more of the game. It was priced at 400MS back when that meant anything so I don't know how many Euros that is but it sounds fairly priced and from what I've read it was considered to be on par with the better parts of the main game.

Due to its length and repetitive combat it might not be a game you wind up finishing (especially as a rental) as I'm sure at some point you'll get bored and move elsewhere, but it's definitely worth a look for $5 or $10 if you're a big fan of the series, like old school RPGs, loved DO:A, or just want to kill some time before Telltale Games comes out with what I'm sure will be a brilliant and more accessible Game of Thrones game towards the end of the year.

Skonson you're 100% right about Guacamelee and 100% wrong about Vita. Anyone who frequents this thread and enjoys a wide array of XBLA games would LOVE a Vita. It also only costs $200 for a console, Borderlands 2, and an 8GB memory card. #20v1t4
Yeah, but it's the gimped version where they skimped on the screen. Vita 1k is much better in my opinion, I'm rather annoyed with what they did with the Vita 2k, and I'm not supporting it.

But then again, I'm not supporting Vita at all until those nonsense needlessly expensive proprietary memory cards go away. The price comparisons between the mem cards and sd cards is just too ridiculous.

Also, the internal storage for the Vita 2k apparently doesn't work if you have a memory card in for some reason...

Any details on the BL2 port by the way? After the terrible performance of the Jak HD collection on Vita, I have a feeling it's going to be an absolutely terrible port.

Since we're all going off topic, allow me to say Remember Me is awful. Just fucking awful. From the sluggish poor man's Arkham combat system to the shitty platforming to the all way too often slowly walking while talking in an ear piece segments, this game just eats a cactus full of dicks. It takes alot for me to want to skip cut scenes, but the stupid story and uninteresting characters has done it.

Cactus full of dicks, eh? I'm trying desperately not to picture that in my mind.

Redbox said Stick of Truth requires Kinect to play. I highly doubt that.
Sounds like the GS guy who sold me PvZ 360 and said that it requires 6GB of HDD space to play. (the case says the same)

I have no clue how that figures since it didn't do any sort of install and only had an 18mb title update.

I also just played it recently and thought it was crap as well. I was really dissapointed because I thought the game was going to be fun,but oh boy was I wrong.

I also recently played Remember Me, and while it wasn't one of the best games I've ever played it was definitely far from being one of the worst. I thought the memory remix segments were really cool. It had a great soundtrack and visuals. The story and combat system were decent, being able to create custom combo attacks was neat. I personally had a fun time with it.

I agree with ZombiesWorld. There are so many worse games on 360. I wish they would've put more focus on the remixes though.

I just finished a long Stick of Truth sitting. It is pretty fun and I really enjoy how it looks like an actual episode. Achievements are pretty easy, but some are missable or require more than 1 save, so I highly suggest using a guide if going for them all. I haven't checked the guides yet, but I'm sure there are some good ones already.

EDIT: Finally get to use 360 today and wanted to download season 1 of DBZ. Size of the episodes were a little more than I was expecting, so I'll stick with streaming for meow.

This is one of the reasons I dislike the Vita. That and I don't much like batteries I can't switch out on a game system. When it runs out of power after 3 hours of play I'm supposed to just twiddle my thumbs while it recharges? Just give me a battery compartment. And I always worry about how many cycles batteries will last for. I don't want to have to replace a game system every few years.

I loved the PSP because of all the homebrew stuff you could do with it. I was angry when they got rid of that. And no, for the record I never pirated anything, in fact I had a huge PSP library, I just liked being able to play old nintendo/genesis/arcade games on a portable system. That was the big selling point for me. And I was further annoyed that they stripped the TV out that the PSP had. How amazing would a Vita be with an HDMI out? Yes I know they're making a Vita TV, but why can't they put this function on their main system so that I can have great portable versions of excellent games, even if they're rendered out at 480P.

But mostly I dislike the Vita because it's only really good for playing XBLA/PSN/Indie games. And I'd much rather play those games on my couch than a handheld. If I wanted to play them on a small screen I'll just boot up my little laptop as they are far cheaper off steam/humble website. The promise of an amazing FPS never happened, though I guess it's wait and see with BL2 (but ports of older games seems like a waste of time - why can't they just make really good new games). The only game that exists on the Vita that interests me at all is Tearaway but meh. There's a few Wii U games that interests me but I'll skip those too. I'm happy with my iPhone as I think it's still the best portable gaming system out there.

I think it was mediocre and that's often worse than when a game is just so awful that it's actually fun. Mediocrity is far more annoying. You can laugh at a horrendous game or movie and revel in its awfulness. A game that's just not horrid and not great is just not fun on any level. I didn't play much of Remember Me but what I did play strangely reminded me of my time with Hydrophobia as they both had an inkling of a good game there with some unusual mechanics neither panned out whatsoever. Remember Me is completely unmemorable and they should have seen that coming.

I Think Remember Me would've benefit from a few more months of polish, just the camera and combat alone feel so clunky compared to what they're trying to mimic (the Arkham games). Memory remixing was the closest thing the game had in terms of a good thing going for it, but getting to those few and far between segments still didn't disguise that the game was just so uninteresting. Though I think the writing needed a total overhaul, I still don't give a shit about anyone and I just hate the people in the game when after or before every combat encounter the game goes to walk only mode and I have to get exposition via an earpiece. Oh and the stupid semi-stealth sequences with the awful camera...yeah.
