This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Does XBL ever do something like Sony does every once in a while where you get extra months or something for redeeming an XBL membership? Trying to decide if I should just go ahead and add one of these year cards to my account or keep stringing together the smallest amounts of time I can find.

From May 9-18 Minecraft Birthday Skin Packs 1 & 2 (including characters from Halo, Fable, Banjo and Viva Piñata) will be free.

From May 9-11 skin and texture packs excluding Marvel will be 50% off.

Nice, now I need to actually open Minecraft.

Too bad about the Marvel stuff being excluded but that's not surprising.

The first episodes frome each Season (1,2,3,4, and 5) of Archer are free (to stream or dl). Haven't seen any of 5 yet so that was a cool surprise lol.

I noticed this last night. I will gladly take them for free and keep forever on my hard drive. More people need to be introduced to Archer

Mmmm, I stated this on Google+ and yeah even though I've seen all the episodes multiple times it didn't hurt to watch them again laughing my ass off once more.

New title update for World of Tanks was released today. Includes various weather elements(snow, rain & night mode), two new battle arenas, seven new tanks, new tank packages and eight new achievements

http://www.xboxachievements.com/news/news-18057-World-of-Tanks--Xbox-360-Edition-Update-Available-Now-With-New-Weather--Tanks-and-Arenas.html

This just might be the thing to get me back into WoT. Those achievements are tempting. Too bad they're pretty much luck based :wall:
Thanks for the advise! I shall return to the game at some point. I admit I gradually stop playing once I 100%'d it. I blame my backlog, WoT is quite a great 'free' game, especially after Warface persistent screw-ups :joystick:

I wonder if achievmnts will pop up after updating (probably not). Shame cos i'm sure I'd have unlocked most of them by now.

One of the comments on that link you quoted says the achievements are indeed retroactive so you'll get them if you've unlocked them.

I'm still on the fence about trying World of Tanks or Warface... Can you still do well as a newb or is everyone overmatched and 400x better than you? Also, if you spend no money, can you be competitive or do you have to spend money to have a chance of enjoying the game?

So what's one of these worth? (backing still on it)

Is that the in game gold hammerbust token for Gears 2? Considering the most inexpensive code on ebay I see is $69.99 and nothing is popping up on Amazon, I'd say less than that? I don't think people are clamoring for it that much since two Gears games have been out since then and GoW3 pretty much 1upped everything 2 did/ my opinion

World of Tanks is a good F2P game that eased me into those types of games. I was afraid I was going to get murdered again and again early on(Happy Wars), but WoT is pretty simple. You creep around and shoot to kill. That's it. It'll take a few rounds to get into it(where people camp, where not to crawl as the match starts, how to effectively shoot and take someone out, etc), but you'll catch on and it'll be a blast.

I have no experience with Warface as I've heard way too much negative press from players who've played and for WoT, the positive far outweighs the negative. You can easily get into matches for WoT and if you get slaughtered early on, you can exit the match, receive credit and start a brand new match with a different tank. No waiting!!! I do advise against spending your cash right away. Get a feel for each tank to see what type you wanna be. Spotter, Heavy, Artillery, etc. Experiment and have fun shooting tanks!!

Yes and no to Warface, but I'll explain.

The way Warface uses real world money is that it allows you to buy Kredits. Kredits allow you to buy things in the same way the in-game currency does, but usually at a discount. So a gun that might cost $1000 in-game may only cost 500 Kredits. The key to all of this is that regardless of how much money you have you still need to unlock weapons, armor and accessories. While there is rank in the game, it really is meaningless. You use Vendor Points (VP) to unlock the desired items. Before match starts you can pick what the VP will be applied to, either in the category of Weapon (which, unfortunately, is usually restricted to a specific class; you might have to unlock a gun for a medic before you can progress to the next gun, which might be for your preferred class), Armor (similar to the guns, some armor is shared between classes, like gloves or boots, but helmets and some body armor isn't) or Accessories (silencers, grips for weapons, and scopes are here). The idea being that as you play, you can unlock in your preferred, though hindered, way.

Unfortunately, joining at this point means you could be faced against a team that has better weapons, armor and accessories than you. But there is some good news; the game does offer matches based for Rank if so desired. They break these into 3 categories. 1st is Rookie Players, for anyone Rank 1-10. This is where you would be. Then it's Experienced and Advanced, or something like that. So you'd be matched against people who are at 10 or lower, and more than likely have lesser equipment. Also, when you first start as a class the game gives you a free rental of guns for that class. So, for example, the medic gets a better shotgun for 2 days. Use those weapon rentals to help balance yourself against other players.

The only other value to Kredits is that they can be used to buy extra lives, which are for Cooperative play, and boosters, which help you rank up and get VP and money.

All of the above is for if you plan on playing Competitive. If you play the game in Cooperative mode, you and a squad of up to 5 play through a level which vary in difficulty. If you are low ranks and lack good items, obviously you'd stick to lower, easier missions. As you gain better items and confidence in the game you can test yourself at the higher missions. At higher difficulties the maps are designed to get you killed, so weak armor and weapons will get you kicked from games, as teammates rightfully expect you to be able to keep up.

Also note that weapons deteriorate over use, so, with the exception of starting items, everything will have to be repaired. That is another function of the in-game money and the Kredits system.

There's a lot more to the game, but this is just focused on whether or not you'll be destroyed by people who spent money on it.

I'm still surprised there isn't a CAG group for Warface, as it does offer both Competitive and Cooperative play...when it works.

Yeah it is. And FWIW, the gold hammerburst and gold lancer transfer over to GoW3 from 2 I believe.

If you have Veteran Gear in Gears of War 2 you unlock all the Gold Skins in 3 as well. It's not that you're wrong, it's just that the demand for such an exclusive DLC is way too late. I think Gears of War 2 might have the smallest community of all 3 games, and maybe even less than Judgment. The people who wanted it probably obtained it by now.

Oh, I'm not worried. I got it for free today at Walmart. :p

so Nutjitsu came out on Xbox One. I'm curious if alot of people are gonna start buying these cheaper indie games now that they all have 1000 gamerscore. Nutjitsu has 10 achievements for 1000 GS.

I also just found out that it's the first game to be treated as an 'app', so you can snap that game while playing other games. I might buy it just to have something to play during loading screens or multiplayer lobbies.

Yeah I think making any game have 1000+ gamer score cheapens the whole achievement thing

From May 9-18 Minecraft Birthday Skin Packs 1 & 2 (including characters from Halo, Fable, Banjo and Viva Piñata) will be free.

From May 9-11 skin and texture packs excluding Marvel will be 50% off.

XBLDB picked up the price drops for the various packs (added to the OP). The freebie birthday packs aren't on the web marketplace yet.

It's definitely interesting when it comes to small games like this. I wish they would assign them on case-by-case basis but I'm sure that's extra resources that MS or Sony isn't interested in allotting to achievements/trophies.

No, it cheapens them when they're way too easy to get 1000.
Totally agree! Honestly, they should have stuck with the arbitrary 200 GS they originally had assigned to 360 arcade games. Allowing people to boost their GS with super easy or short games is a foolish ploy that will detract from the more expensive titles. I mean, unless they up the GS on retail games to 3000, people who play only for achievements will just go for the easy ones. Upping it from 200 to 400 with the Kinect apparently wasn't enough...

Yeah that snapped feature could benefit the even though it's not very good complaint.

It's been weeks since a sale grabbed me.....Pool yes or no? Damn I'm itching to add to the back log!
Lol, you know my vote, that's a yes great pool game, it's my go-to game for while listening to podcasts too.

Killer Instinct will be close to 3,000 next season if they keep adding 150 per character and add another 8 characters.

I prefer all games having 1,000. There are a ton of arcade games that only have 200 or 400 that could easily have more with how much content is in the games. When the score was changed to 400, not all games had more than 12 achievements. Brothers for example is a game that a lot of people seem to enjoy, yet nobody complained that it only has 12 achievements with 400 GS.

One game with only 10 achievements to 1,000 isn't enough to make me want to go back to 200/400 ways. Some retail games on 360 can get 1,000 (and some have under 10 achievements) much faster than Nutjitsu's 10+ hours (according to XA guide). Hopefully devs will start taking advantage of the higher score and add more achievements/creativity to their games.

Nutjistu is alright for an indie game. Disappointing I can't twitch stream it to show off to others. Basically a small time killer that I wish was priced a bit lower, even at $6 it seems steep lol.

i didn't see anyone mention this, thought some might care...

I can't believe how long it is taking...Minecraft PS4 was originally announced to be ready at launch.
Mojang is known for being lazy because of all the money they've already gotten despite initial promises of even more content that they've decided not to deliver on.

They know regardless of when they ship Minecraft, they'll make bank, so they're not in a rush. They'd rather focus on more paid DLCs for the version that's about to be obsolete. :p I'll give them credit for making the DLCs free for a while though.

I'm still on the fence about trying World of Tanks or Warface... Can you still do well as a newb or is everyone overmatched and 400x better than you? Also, if you spend no money, can you be competitive or do you have to spend money to have a chance of enjoying the game?
The game tries to match you up with tanks that are around your tier, in my experience usually no more than four levels above your own (unless you are grouped with someone else that is a higher tier than you, the matching making system always uses the tier of highest ranked player). I played the beta but because of University didn't play again until a few weeks after the official release date, and I didn't have to much trouble working my way up. I only play as the Germans, and my tank ranks are a follows:

-highest tank is the Tiger I
-highest tank destroyer is a fully upgraded Stug III
-highest arty is the Hummel

Sadly, I can't even remember the last time I played WoT. However, this weekend is a great time to start since you will get 5 times bonus XP and silver for the first match you win on each tank you own until Monday. There will definitely be times where you won't be able to penetrate certain enemy tanks early on, just keep in mind that this game is about learning tank strategy and working as a team, and not just simply trying to reach the highest tier as fast as possible. I would also like to mention that you don't need to pay any real currency to do well in this game. I have never paid any real currency nor have I read any guides on this game (although that is probably a good idea to learn about the strength and weakness of each tank), I simply learned everything from my experience on the battlefield.

I've never seen it for less than $20. Then its a matter of finding it. Also, I live in an ass end of SC where there's no local stores that carry games.
Well. "Certain people" say cool story bro.

And I'll get jumpy if I damn well please. Especially when some ass puts his unwanted, two cents of a shit opinion in on MY LIFE.
Then stop posting stuff if you don't want comments on it. It's really simple.

Yeah, I'm passing on Peggle 2.

I see no difference between it and the first game.

I might just splurge and get Trials Fusion, does it hold up to the first 2?

I didn't like Trials Fusion, but it plays just like the previous 2 with tricks (Did the older ones have tricks?). You can still make and play custom tracks, which is probably the best feature. There was something else in the main menu that might have been new, but it wasn't available yet when I played.

I haven't played 360 version of Peggle 2, but Peggle 1 (360) to Peggle 2 (X1) have a huge graphical difference. Looks much better than P1.

Why don't you like Fusion?

And there might be a graphical difference between Peggle 1 and 2 but that's all. As far as I can tell, I'm playing the exact same game/puzzles.

And Peggle isn't really a game where graphics matter

Trials fusion is f'n awesome! Loved the first two games and love this one just as much. Though the extreme tracks in fusion are way more difficult than in the other games. The tricks are not my favorite I'd say but you only have to do them on a few tracks. I definitely recommend it to any trials fan.

Think I was getting sick of playing Trials games. The voiceovers during the levels was annoying as bowls, especially at parts I suck at and have to hear them say the same thing 30+ times in a row (yeah I suck at Trials). I probably should've checked if there was a way to turn it off, but didn't think about it at the time.

Remember this is a team (squad) based shooter, so even if you suck the rest of your team can compensate some times. I've had some matches where I took out most of the other team's players, and I've had others where I got killed in the first minute of the game. In both cases I had a good time. The game does a good job in balancing the teams. Also, if you play lower tiers you will always have a decent shot to do well. I play a tier 1 tank all the time since I find it gives me the quickest and most fun matches, I never get paired with anyone above tier 2. Give it a try. If you don't like it then you didn't lose anything.

You can turn the voiceovers off. I turned them off as soon as I started going for platinum on everything. They got annoying extremely quick.

I'm in the Fusion is awesome camp but it's the first one I've actually bought. Maybe if you're burnt out on Trials you won't enjoy it as much but it's a blast. It's currently unseated PvZ as my go to game right now.
