This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

To go back on-topic, do we have some confirmation or reliable source that we get Dark Souls and Street Fighter on the 1st of June?
FWIW, some posts ago Masters_93 mentioned that it was stated that way in a wiki. Don't know how reliable is that.

Since the deals blow, is this now the TV show thread? If so, I recommend Penny Dreadful, it just began a few weeks ago and we're 3 episodes in. Extremely high quality horror show with great actors (among others Eva Green).

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of Games with Gold for Xbox 360 and as a thank you for helping shape this program, members will receive an additional free Xbox 360 game in June. The Games with Gold titles for Xbox 360 in June are “Dark Souls,” “Charlie Murder” and a bonus game of “Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition.”
Seems fairly reliable to me that we get them in June. :p

He wasn't questioning whether those games will be available in June. ;) He wanted to know if we know for sure Dark Souls will be available on June 1st (as opposed to June 16th). I've searched and couldn't find any confirmation from MS or Xbox staff, though most news outlets and blogs seem to think DS will be 6/1 and Charlie will be 6/16.

Major Nelson has never been one to give people a heads up about anything that will happen with Games with Gold.

I understand we are also getting an entirely new IP from Microsoft for free which will be retroactive to all as of last years E3. It's called Waffle, an open world sandbox where you compete in business by changing your mind as often as you can and back peddling on anything different.

The cited link on Wikipedia doesn't mention what's free when. I suspect those dates were added to the Wiki because that's the order the games were listed in the cited article, which is no guarantee. When someone official clearly lists the dates (or the marketplace updates tomorrow evening), I'll update the OP with them.

http://majornelson.com/2014/05/30/xbox-live-games-with-gold-for-june-2014/?linkId=8370757

Major Nelson posts something early for once. Dark Souls is the June 1 game and SFIV AE/Charlie Murder are June 16 games.

The Xbox One games (Halo: Spartan Assault and Max: The Curse of Brotherhood) are TBA, so he's still doing the Major Nelson thing. I'd guess that they'll go live during their E3 press conference as a "surprise" even though they announced the games ahead of time.

Perfect, exactly what I needed to know. If there's such a thin as a "bad deal" when you get such impressive free games, Dark Souls is first, the only one I own (in digital, even, so I literally don't earn anything), then on the 16th the 2 I don't own. But hey, knowing myself I'll buy at least 5 games up until then anyway to build my backlog, so it's fine, my hoarding wishes will be granted either way.

You realize Major posts at 9 am on the last day of the month, every month, right?

Not sure if anyone else made the connection, but I'm 95% sure the reason SSFIV AE is a freebie next month is because Capcom is hoping people will buy the upgrade pack for it.

Other 5% is because EVO is in July. I expect Capcom to have some kind of big announcement at EVO. I'd love if they transferred all their fighting games to Xbox One and magically send everybody a fightstick adapter. Then I'd never have to play 360 again.

It's very likely, that's why a lot of stuff goes free on PS+. Has a lot of DLC or there's something new coming out related to it. I'm probably waiting for a good deal on the retail copy though because it comes with all the costume DLC and I don't think the digital upgrade does.

As long as they can sell each one of those games to you again individually at full price I'm sure that's their plan.

Correct. The GoD version and the retail version will, but the upgrade DLC will not. This is true on all platforms, including PC.

WTF? So that means GwG won't go live on Xbox One on June 1? Since it was already announced, it's not like they can surprise anyone with it at E3. I was looking forward to maybe getting Max on Sunday.

Urggh.

All I know is with the "changes" to the program, I hope we see also see better sales on X1, since it will now be more comparable to PS+.

Oh its more comparable to PS+ now. You don't get to "own" your games anymore. Its now a rental service like......oh geeze, I give up. I'm going back to my 360 and SNES

I was hoping for them to be free on the first as well. I hope we get them by E3.

EDIT: I forgot about State of Decay DLC. Anybody play it yet? How is it compared to the vanilla game. Map size same? Major Nelson made it sound more  like a focus on guarding a base than scavenging (which I'd love).

I was hoping it would be switched since my sub is up on the 16th and I already have Dark Souls. I hope I can grab Charlie Murder before it expires so I can buy a few weeks before adding a 3 month card.

They usually go live the night before the official date, so if you can "buy" them that night before your membership ends you should be good.

Other 5% is because EVO is in July. I expect Capcom to have some kind of big announcement at EVO. I'd love if they transferred all their fighting games to Xbox One and magically send everybody a fightstick adapter. Then I'd never have to play 360 again.
You could be like me and pay a stick modder to add Xbox One functionality to your Xbox 360 sticks! The guy I hired from SRK just finished up my sticks and shipped them out yesterday - can't wait to use them on Killer Instinct. Not that it was super cheap to mod two sticks and ship them back and forth, but cheaper than buying two of the underwhelming Madcatz Xbox One sticks and it'll take up less room to boot.

They had a guy at UFGTX modding sticks and I was mad that I didn't bring mine! No shipping costs would've been nice. I haven't checked in awhile, but earlier attempts at modding led to X1s overheating and breaking. Obviously it should be better now or you wouldn't have gotten them modded. I've been planning a complete stick overhaul, but never got around to it. X1 compatible, new artwork, and fancy buttons.

The problem I'd have with it modded though is that I'd want to talk to friends while playing. I've read that even the non-modded Xbox One fightsticks don't have a mic slot. I've been getting frustrated at missed inputs in KI, so I might get it modded anyways. Better to have a stick without a mic than none at all.

I'm trying to remember if I bought Dark Souls already. it was on sale for like $4 or $5 in Dec or January right?
It was 5$ multiple times lately, and in the months prior to that it's been around 7.50-10 as well. Most CAGs who were somewhat interested already picked it up at one point. I remember getting it around a year ago when it was like 10, and it went on sale many times ever since.

Yeah, that is the problem. No easy way to install Xbox One headset jacks in a stick. But like you say, better a silent stick than none at all. I suppose using Kinect for choice chat is also an option, however crappy.

(And can you believe the official Madcatz Xbox One stick has no headset jack either? Madness!)

I can't wait to play Dark Souls just to see how infuriating it is. Then I will remove it from my 360 and go back to playing easy shit.
The average Dark Souls experience summed up:

1. Oh hey, this tutorial looks fun. Straight-forward!

2. Eh, it's pretty difficult. But I'm doing fine!

3. Oh my gosh this boss looks unbeatable.

4. Managed to do it, wasn't that hard.

5. Finished this part - maybe the game isn't that hard or confusing as they say?

6. WHAT THE fuck

7. OH MY GOD

8. *breaks controller*

9. Swears to never touch the game again.

10. Will occasionaly do so and get raped more.

That sounds like me with Black Knight Sword. That last boss is a bitch.

i am thinking of getting Aliens Vs Predator. is it worth it? seems pretty cheap. any comments on the game.
The Predator campaign is usually referenced as the best. It mixes some stealth alongside melee and ranged combat. The Marine campaign is your average shooter, albeit with fairly decent atmosphere. The Alien campaign could have been done better. The controls are the weakest point here, I feel. It gets a bit tricky when you're running around and not sure if you're on a floor, wall or ceiling. It's not a bad game, but never really reached it's potential.

I've modded older sf anniversary sticks. I wouldn't think it would be that hard to just take a controller apart, gut the stick and solder the connections. Then just add an opening for the headset plug.

Pretty much this. It wasn't bad. It just could have been better, and most people thought it'd be better because the guys behind AvP 2010 (Rebellion) are the ones who made the original AvP game on PC (which was fantastic at the time).

But then again, Rebellion also made Rogue Warrior...

Though I still think the sequel was better, which was made by Monolith, the guys behind FEAR 1 + 2, both Condemned games, and are now stuck as whores slaves for WB's licensed franchises (Gotham City Impostors, Guardians of Middle Earth, and now Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor). What a waste of potential.

I liked the Alien  Marine campaign the best. There were plenty of creepy parts.

Multiplayer was dead last time I checked (maybe over a year ago). When it first came out the zombies like game type was so much fun. The changing pyramid level is still one of the most phone experiences I've had in any game.

EDIT: I meant Marine. I was thinking of the parts that only had Aliens because it felt like the movies. The Alien campaign was a bit disappointing. Predator campaign is fun. You're an OP killing machine. That was the only campaign that I got close to finishing on hardest difficulty.

Was able to knock out the Age of Booty online achievements.  Won one match in random matchmaking this morning for one achievement and got the other (10 wins) in a TA boosting session.  Was able to knock out most of the other achievements, just need 1 medium difficulty challenge and then the hard ones.  Got my $2.50 worth.

Also supposed to be the last day for 2 achievements in Midnight Club : LA due to the Social Club shutting down, and the last day for the season pass cross buy promotions for Assassin's Creed 4 and CoD: Ghosts.
