This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Yeah I was watching Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic today and they had this option. I actually rather them go the ads before and after the show but not during the show. The ads are annoying but way less than if you had cable and Hulu Plus is way cheaper (since it doesn't matter what service you pay for there's still going to be ads that are marketed to you, that's the way the system works). Been using the service for some time. Love watching anime, American Dad, Agents of SHIELD and Arrow on it.
Magi is a little gem. It has a bunch of charismatic characters, well developed. The second half of first season is a master class of economics, the second season a master class of sociology and the show enters in a "it's over 9000!" dynamic that keeps you wanting for more. If you like anime, probably the best show this season is "no game no life", with Jojo Star Crusaders' permission.

I'm sure this has been asked and answered several times now so I do apologize, but...

If I don't have a One, can I "purchase" the GwG One games through the site, then gain access to them when I eventually get a One?

It is just like PS+ now right, as long as I'm Gold I can play the games, on the One.
Yep

You will always die at some point, regardless of any mastery you might posses on rolling. O&S don't give a fuck about rolling mastery for instance.
Those scary dudes outside the castle (on the narrow ledges) were a problem. Not a lot of room for rolling. 40% of my deaths were from that part. 45% from that boss where you have to jump over a gap. Roll failed me many times at that part. Rest from when I was trying too hard and attempting to parry everything before I learned about the almighty roll.

Depending on how you play rolling might not even be necessary. Tanking is OP as well.

That Dragon made me cringe though... I gotta fight it don't i?
You can run by him if you like. Since you just started, you may want to get some arrows and head under the bridge to sever his tail. You're welcome.

All this talk of DS makes me want to jump back in, but I know I don't have the time or patience at the moment.

Yeah... Is living with some fat ancient TV really superior to having a modern TV and being able to run modern machines on it with the default cable? I guess we all have different financial situations though...
Dunno about it being superior, but it's a widescreen HDTV, one of the last tube models made. It still works like new, my 360/ps3 games look great on it, and the only issues are it's non hdmi. Since I have no need for hdmi there's no use wasting $400 for an equal sized replacement. For that amount I can buy groceries for a month.

I bought it 2006 and it's working great. Meanwhile my friends parents bought a giant $4000 plasma tv and it died within two years. My lcd screen pc monitor needed replacement twice since I got it in 2008, and my moms lcd tv looks horrible if viewed from anywhere except right smack in front of it. I'll stick with my tube model...lol.

Must be a huge screen if $400 is equal size (60+ inches?). I had to upgrade TVs after playing one of the Dragon Age games and the text was so small that I couldn't read any of it.

Mine was when xbox 360 first came out, and dead rising was my first game for it.

...text was so SMALL and it was a sdtv. LOL.

Well I don't buy online, with major purchases I only buy name brands, and it would have to be a smart tv, if I were ever to replace it. So yeah, $400 is around the price I've seen, before tax, which is +6% here.

And nope, dragon age/gta/skyrim all have clearly legible text on my tv.

Awesome, yeah I really like it. Watched an episode of Full Metal Alchemist (the one advertised on the One's dash today) and Augh it's just so Japanese, (I did watch some of the first Season a while ago). Magi is more reserved and not the typical over the top anime tropes. I also like how it's intertwining with Persian mythology. Aladdin fan here too, to think I played that SNES game in one day lol. What a piece of shit.

Oh God! I got stuck in my first run for a couple of days on those guys until i used some poison arrows lol. Tanking, not so much unless you farm a crap ton of souls.

You just ruined his true Dark Souls expirience..... or you just saved a controller's life. I jumped back from DS2 thinking there was going to be more people playing it, but i have failed to invade low level with a special build. Now i'm stuck making 2 new builds for PvP that doesn't happen very often, while i'm drowning on my backlog.

It doesn't scale, so it won't get him far. I found it on my own after playing only a short while, but it never got any use.

I'm on that train too... NO OTIS I DONT CARE BECAUSE I CANT READ YOUR MESSAGES
Once I finally could read his messages I started wishing I couldn't, dude needs to stfu.

I know. The thing is it will get him through the parts that should make you rage and quit the game for a while, it makes ir easier to start understanding parts of the gae mechanics.

One of the things that killed Dark Souls for me is that, the confusion. I spent hours and hours finally getting through the skeletons just after the prologue. Countless times to get in the cave, get past the dangers, and find a mage dude, only to find out he is completely OP for my character. Then I went below the starting bonfire - again, many tries against OP enemies so, again, another road to go to. There was another one I've found with a dragon: needless to say, OP. A friend of mine actually told me there's a path I didn't even notice: goes figure it's the one I needed to go to in the first place. I should probably restart DS with a guide, because if you don't know what you're doing you're just wasting hours to no avail most of the time.

Oh wow maybe me too but I could read his messages in SD. That might have been the last game I played in SD.
My roomie and I at the time would trade off between reading and playing... we both pitched in for a vizio 42 inch and it died before he moved out so there wasn't any fighting over who is keeping it.

That is kind of the fun part for people. I have always described DS to friends as a long adult themed Zelda dungeon. The coolest part of the game for me was looking over the vast cliffs and seeing things off in the distance that I would later discover a path to. If anything I would suggest you look up a guide on multiplayer for the game. I went through my whole first playthrough by myself, boy was it tough and time consuming. If you use a guide to get through the game you wont have nearly as much of a rewarding experience, though a guide can probably cut your first playthrough to 40-60ish hours instead of 100 like me.

I don't feel it particularly rewarding wasting hours getting through a bunch of skeletons and everything that comes after it, just for the game to point out that this particular road leads absolutely nowhere for a character with my stats. To me it kinda comes off as lazy programming, and a bit of a slap to players who are newcomers to the series and are trying to figure out what to do. I don't mind a difficult experience: as I pointed out multiple times, bullet hell games (which are far more difficult than Dark Souls) are some of my favourites, but imagine playing through a 6 hour campaign for anything (say, Call Of Duty), and when you reach the end it tells you that you should have done something differently in the first level, and in order to access to the last level you need to restard from the beginning. That is how it feels with Dark Souls, you're left there with a bilion ways to go, and due to the sadistic nature of enemy placement, you aren't even very encouraged to explore besides the "straight road" with the bonfires. And somehow you are supposed to know that this road that you just spent hours to get through with is, in fact, the wrong way. Seems like an excuse to sell official guides and such.

Having said that, I enjoyed the game for a bit. It is fun, though extremely repetitive once you realize you have to roll and hit every single time. But after a while, it just seemed such a lazy programming, placing OP enemies in "wrong ways" when you just spent 20 minutes battling after the last bonfire - it's the equivalent of placing an invisibile trap behind a door or making you face literally unwinnable bosses for story purposes. I like a challenging game if it's fair and polished, hate it when the difficulty comes from glitches, lazy programming and overall bad design (the hit detection is horrible for example).

This is how I felt when playing some of the Invasion levels in Rayman Legends. Any of the levels with pipes have this weird lag. I can't tell if it's by design or a framerate drop but I gave up and sold the game. It was immensely fun until I felt like the game itself was the reason it was difficult.

I can't think of a game that doesn't get repetitive though. Super Mario 3D World was old hat after a level or two. By the time I finished one playthrough of both Borderlands games, I swore I'd never play another. Rockstar makes their bread and butter on repetitive games. I think the only genre that can get a pass is FPS because of its target audience. It's hard to be upset about repetition when literally the whole point of the game is to shoot everything.

It would be much more fun if it didn't take 30 minutes to find your friends or needing to use Skype to talk to them. Wouldn't be as big a problem on X1 (Skype is pretty much party chat). I'm hoping for a X1 super pack of Demon Souls (never played), Dark Souls, and Dark Souls 2 next year. Would be so much more fun to record some of the stuff that happens.

Well, yeah, most games get repetitive. This is a big deal to me in role-playing games: the combat, loot, etc. system must be fun enough to justify the 50-100 or who knows how many hours they want the players to finish the storyline. If such a game can't offer a system that is fun after dozens of hours, finishing the game can be a pain in the arse. Dark Souls' gameplay is very clunky, very slow, riddled with glitches and an extremely repetitive mechanism (you literally hit-roll-hit-roll, except maybe during bosses). You don't even pull of crazy combos or who knows what, so while the first hours were fun in its brutal difficulty, I probably didn't get past the 20 hours mark overall before the game fell into a borefest. Then again, I've hit a similar "wall" in Oblivion after around the same amount of time, I just didn't think the gameplay was that fun or polished to justify a lenghty journey. Too bad, because both Dark Souls and Oblivion have very interesting worlds.

Forza 5 is showing on the deals with gold tab on the X1, the price is marked through but it is still full price. Maybe they haven't fully updated it yet. Both the game and car pass are listed.

If you watch the GwG video on the dashboard, it shows Forza 5 as $39.99. Gives me NO hope for a decent sale on Ryse.

Forza is showing up as $39.99 for me on the console so looks like it's gone live. I probably would have bought it at $30 but will pass at this price

It's funny everyone was talking about Forza 5 pricing when a Walmart glitch had a digital code for $2. Hopefully those orders get fulfilled. I only ordered 1.

I'm hoping the DR3 season pass goes on sale with these deals. I'd wish for the Trials Fusion pass too but the DLC isn't out yet. I'll probably just pick it up for full price.

Me too. I've been hoping for a DR3 SP sale for a while. No more than $10 though as it barely gives you 3-4 hours of extra content total.

People have been selling the Trials SP on here for $10 if you're interested.

Yeah there's no way I'd pay full price for such short content.

I've been meaning to check the trade forums. Just PMed someone about that $10 pass.

Time to pick up the Forza V Season Pass. Id like cheaper, but I dont want Forza to be buried in my backlog when the SP is cheaper.
Yeah 40-50% off would be nicer since it's just more cars but since I got the game for free, really enjoy it, and want to drive some of those cars I guess it's worth it. Especially since it's like $90 individually (they bumped it up to 90 cars from the original 60) and probably won't go on sale again any time soon.

I would try Forza for free. Oh well.

Is Dark Souls not free anymore? I tried to download it yesterday and the "download" box is not there now.

This is me as well lol. Couple it with the $25 Best Buy DotD thing today and I think I can stomach the remaining balance!
Chaching!

Thoughts on Far Cry Classic/Blood Dragon?
1st Far Cry I played on PC years back and it was pretty nice jungle raiding adventure. Yes you can call it "Classic", but when it comes to Blood Dragon now that is an ultimate "Classic" in my book. Remembering the golden days of action movies like Rambo, Robocop, good al Terminator. Now serve all that awesomeness with mixture of 8bit style cutscens + gidi music. Yes baby, Blood Dragon is my Game!

If you like old school themes with new improved graphics you'll love Blood Dragon action adventure.
