This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

So far, I've purchased the following games:

King of Fighters XIII
Ducktales Remastered
Serious Sam HD: TFE
Serious Sam HD: TSE
Serious Sam 3: BFE
Oblivion
Fight Night Champion
Ninja Gaiden 2

Anything else I should consider purchasing before this sale ends?

and PEGGLE 2

Shit. Kingdoms of Amalur is $7.99.  I have it on PS+ but own the DLC for the 360.  Should I just buy it?

Edit: Now double shit. I wonder if this might end up a GWG. AHHH!

Man, I have to decide the same thing. Have it from Plus, but I have an old saved game for 360. I'm not starting that one over so I might just have to buy it.

I love PvZ GW and played it a bunch on 360 at launch. If I'm going to buy it, though, I would rather start over and get the achievements/rank again on a new platform. Wish it was on One for sale, too.

I hope not, cause I just bought it. I heard all the money the developer makes now goes right to the state of Rhode Island due do some legal action, so I doubt Microsoft will try to make it a GwG.

My only reason for thinking it might is that it was a PS+ game. There has been quite of bit of crossover. I most likely will just buy it and not worry.

Both Fallouts

I'd say

Portal 2.

Dishonored.

Deus Ex: Human revolution.

Fallout: New Vegas.

Skyrim

If you don't already own any of those.

Street Fighter x Tekken

and PEGGLE 2

If only one is an option, Fallout 3 for sure.
Thanks for the input guys! I already own Fallout 3, so I'm going to go with Fallout New Vegas and Maybe street fighter if nothing interests me during the final daily sales. Also, Peggle 2 for 11.99? HOT DAMN! WHAT A STEAL!

EDIT: Probably not the place for this, but the Y button on my controller isn't as firm as the rest of the buttons on the controller and feels mushy upon pressing on it. Is there any way I could fix this? I already tried cleaning the button with an alcohol swab, but I got no results.

Too much of an achievement whore lol.

Haven't touched any of the games I've purchased so far.  I'll play through them at some point, I just hope MS delists them before them.

Whoa Amalur for sub $10? Not the fiver I wanted but hmmm...

Just like Vanquish. Still hoping for Bayonetta.

Edit: and now influx of ppl asking if KoA is worth it and I'm one of them. I heard it can get repetitive and the story and quests aren't very creative. But the combat is fun. Is it also loot focused, likely shows on the character or scales with level so you're playing forever like diablo?

But then again I heard you can respec your character for basically no penalty at a certain point, which negates multiple playthrus.

So the question is, is it a solid fiver or worth the $8?
I got it YEARS ago when it was $5 from a Best Buy coupon so it can definitely go lower if you can wait but I highly recommend the games, its actually one of the games that got me into RPGs

Does anyone know the difference between the disc version and the GoD version of GTAV?

I want to get rid of my disc but idk if I should or not w/o knowing what I'm in for completely

oblivion yay or nay ??
If you're expecting it to be as good as Skyrim then nay. It's good but not nearly as good as Skyrim and when I tried it again a year or so ago it was showing it's age even with a ton of mods on PC. Shivering Isles is really good though and if you plan to get that at some point it greatly increases it's worth.

So yay if you have reasonable expectations for it and get Shivering Isles.

Off Topic: Hey guys, As some of you saw earlier,  I mentioned in a post that the Y button on one of my controllers was not as firm as the rest of the buttons on the controller. I would like to say that the crisis had been (slightly) averted. Earlier today I had a younger cousin who likes to game on my Xbox 360  when he is not home playing on his own Xbox 360 visit me and he had brought his own controller to play. He called me a few minutes ago to ask if he had left his own controller at my house and described it as having a "slow Y Button." I later found my own controller hidden under a pile of games.

tl;dr: My own controller is working fine and my younger cousin left his broken controller at my house, which resulted in my accidental usage of it. Still would be helpful if anyone knows how to fix the 'stuck Y button' issue though.

Back on topic: Here's to hoping for "older" arcade titles to go on sale (i.e. Shadow Complex, Castle Crashers, Radiant Silvergun, N+, Perfect Dark, etc..) as I was still a PS3 gamer when these games dropped.

I'm tempted to buy New Vegas, Dishonored, and KOA. Here's what's giving me pause: The DLC. Both NV and D have GOTY editions with all DLC. So I'm really torn with those. I'm really thinking I'd want the DLC on NV. It raises the level cap, and I'm glad I got the 3 good DLCs for FO3. But it looks like there's only been one good sale on DLC for NV. So I'd prob have to wait another year on DLC? It might be better just to get the Ultimate edition.

For Dishonored, would I likely want the DLC? Is it any good, or would I likely feel like I was done after the base game?

KOA seems more clear cut as there's no GOTY edition and doesn't look to be one any time soon unless the property gets sold and re-released.

Buy the digitals of the Bethesda games, rent the GOTYs and install the DLC off the disc.

Highly recommend buying the complete package for Dishonored. Knife Of Dunwall and Brigmore Witches are both high quality pieces of DLC, one that any fan of the series shouldn't miss out on.

Furthermore, I believe that GameStop is offering a GOTY copy of Dishonored for fifteen bucks.

This is what most people seem to do. I am a HUGE Bethesda fan though. I bought all the GOTY editions, and also bought Oblivion digitally and I'm planning to buy both Fallouts to, just for the convenience. I'm waiting for the Skyrim GOTY to hit $20 so I can play the DLC.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Oblivion GOTY doesn't actually come with all the DLC on consoles. It has Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine but not the rest.

It's nice to have all of it but Shivering Isles is the only really meaningful DLC with it if I remember right.

The gardens in the necromancer's lair and wizard's tower are pretty awesome (and convenient). Oblivion GOTY Deluxe (on Steam for PC) has those and all of the other miscellaneous DLC not included in other GOTY versions.

I'm considering Bastion, Crysis 3, NG 2.

Bastion looks like fun if it were on the Vita though.

It seems like nobody is talking about Crysis 3, is it pretty bad? I played Crysis 2 on PC just to see what the graphic are like on Ultra, but quit halfway since I hate playing games in my work room when I have a perfectly functioning living room. I assume story wise I won't be missing too much.

Peggle 2 was a lot of fun, I bought it for full price on release day (something I have never done before) and played with the Mrs., we were laughing until tears fell out.

Going to buy Crysis 3, since I have the first 2 sitting in the backlog. Glad I saw the Peggle 2 mention in the OP, otherwise I wouldn't have know it was on sale. $11.99!!!

Guys, don't miss out on Kindgdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. European price sucks (unless the sale isn't on for some reason yet?), but in the USA for 8$... brilliant. The game is like a middle point between Fable and Skyrim: it's got everything of both worlds pretty much, but it's all easy and accessible. Picklocking, forging, character customization, it's all in there and it's all so simple and fun. You won't be spending hours in menus, it's all so straight and focussed. The fights are where it's at, mostly, it's like God Of War except easier to learn combos and not as punishging overall. Really spectacular stuff with insane weaponry. The game's world is impressive, graphically maybe not that much, but the style is everywhere. Also it's extremely long: the main game can easily take you 80-120 for a 100% completion, including achievements that are time-consuming but easy. About easy: the game is, overall, even on Hard you'll hardly die after the first hours of understanding the game mechanics. It's an amazing and underrated RPG gem, so sad the developers had the infamous funding issues and we're probably not seeing a sequel like ever. Do yourself a favour and buy it, and when the DLC is on sale (it's been so multiple times), get those too, they're worth it.

I know PC version of Crysis 3 had some serious problems on one of the early levels (maybe first) because of some fancy water thingy (hopefully fixed by now). I didn't have that problem on 360, so they probably took out the fancy water thingy and solved that problem before it could begin. It felt like Crysis 2.5 to me. Not horrible, but no big changes. Probably short if you don't stealth. Think it took me about 5 hours mixing stealth and run n gun. Story lost me at the 2nd game and that continued into this one. Graphics are pretty, has replay value (choose different approaches), and is cheap. I'd buy it myself if it was on X1 at this price. If you liked 2, you'll probably enjoy 3.

EDIT: I still have to teach Cortana that Crysis is ok so she doesn't autocorrect it. Fixed.

When you said you tried to clean it, did you take the outer casing off? Every time I've had a button that sticks or was slow, it was due to a sticky substance. Sometimes the controller casing had to be removed before cleaning it, but that was always the issue.

I think I'll grab bastion and kingdoms of amalur, even though those both seem like excellent GWG titles, bought crysis 3 and beat it on disc, didn't really like it that much, so I sold it when I was done.

I can clearly see Bastion and Amalur being on GwG in next couple of months. Played Amalur's demo before and didn't care about the game at all and hearing how easy and boring gets later on - it makes skipping that one pretty easy.

Just now realized that MS started to charge me tax, for every $10 purchase + $1 more. Sneaky bastards.

I wanna buy Rayman Orgins but i dont know if i should wait

its only 15 but i can picture it goin down half pric, dont really imagine it bein a GwG deal for some reason

but yeah has this game gone on sale before?

I always caution any expectation in regards to discounts with Amalur given it's turbulent status in some form of IP limbo between EA and the state of Rhode Island so any discount you see could be its last.

Buy the game, it's phenominal guys and gals.

Grab Amular for sure, its value used @ GS has consistently held close to the $30 mark for a long time now on the X360. If you have just a slight interest in RPGs, it is worth a go. Yes, it can be a bit on the easy side (most RPGs are, lets be honest), but the world itself is worth experiencing.

Any thoughts on Skate 2? I looked into getting one of the games back when they were the popular, but I never saw a decent price, plus I've always been a Tony Hawk fan.

Also, if anyone happened to play both Skate and Stoked, are the controls really similar? I saw one mention of it years ago on amazon. I played the first Stoked and enjoyed it to the point I even managed to 1000/1000 it.

It is a great game and well worth $15 in terms of quality. However, in terms of value, I would wait for it to be $10 or less. It has been super cheap before and has already been negotiated to be a free title in the past on another platform (Vita), so there is a possibility it could be again with GwG since the program has taken off quite successfully at this point.

With that being said, if you will play it right now, grab it and enjoy.

i havent played stoked but skate is the best skating game franchise IMO. definitely worth $3. the best way i'd explain it is its more of a "simulation" type game whereas Tony Hawk series would be the "Arcade" type skating games. if you're into skateboarding, you'll love it. i still play every so often, even years after it came out.

also, skate 2 is generally considered the best of the 3.

Agreed it is a great game. Also if you could find Legends at some point for $15 you could just get that. It has old levels on it too though slightly different. In the end though if you are buying to play very soon I don't think you'd be disappointed
