This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

 • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
 • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
 • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
 • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
 • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
 • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I love Split/Second. For the record, Burnout 3 is great, too. Really holds up.
I have Burnout 3 on disc and still play it -- and I by and large hate racing games. It's 1 of maybe 4 original XBox games I ever still play. Even my wife enjoys playing it.

Guess I should have read the description closer, but bummed that The Walking Dead Season 2 pass doesn't include episode one.  Oh well, guess I won't be playing this one anytime soon.

So far I'm in for: witcher 2, skate 2 and kingdoms of amalur.

Contemplating fallout 3/nv and feud ex (even though I've beaten all of those before)...

I decided not to bite on Fallout 3, opting instead for a physical goty edition since the dlc price will drive it up over what you could get that for.

Split/Second is fun, I did really enjoy it, but the problem comes from the fact that if you fall behind in a race there's virtually no way to catch back up or be competitive. Car stats like top speed and acceleration are a distant second to blowing up the track and making debris hit opponents. If you're far back there's no way to trigger these. Races then fall into two categories: you're either way ahead because other racers have fallen so far back and/or you can keep triggering things to hit racers behind you, or you fall so far behind you can't catch up and have to restart.

Got a disagree on split-second. The game is a complete blast and the whole point is to fall behind in the races at times. If you're in first place you can't use your special abilities and create all sorts of mass destruction!
I can't recommend The Witcher 2 enough. Hands down, one of the best games I've ever played. It's a shame it was released around the same time as Skyrim and got lost in the hype, as it was a million times more engrossing and enjoyable.

Great story and characters, fun combat, pretty to look at; it had everything I want in an RPG.
If you're in need of an RPG, I second The Witcher 2. I purchased it again just to have a digital copy.

Just to be 100% clear, if I buy both fallout 3 and new vegas and then I grab a retail copy of the goty editions, I can install/download the dlc for free?
Anyone done this?

Right but what I'm saying is if you fall too far beyond there's no way to catch up, because a good car alone won't keep you competitive. This is a larger problem racing online. At least the computer cuts you some slack from time to time.

Yes, you can for both. DLC for both is on the second disk. Same goes for Oblivion and Skyrim.

My damage in the Ultimate CoD sale: Dragon Age 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, Peggle 2 and FIFA World Cup.

I really hope nobody bought World Cup, because after just one game I already regret it. Selecting your squad in the main game mode is glitched beyond belief.

Would have bought Split/Second but it's not on sale here even though it's advertised on the dash.

My haul:

Halo: Spartan Assault - $3.39

Walking Dead Season 2 Season Pass - $7.49

Painkiller Hell and Damnation - $5.99

Total: $16.87

Depending on what is offered tonight, I may also get Ducktales ($5.09) and Pac Man Museum ($9.99).

So there's one yay and one nay for Far Cry Instinct Predator. Downloading the demo now.

I bought it as well but I haven't encountered a glitch. What mode are you talking about?
The regular offline world cup.

First you select a country and then you're asked to select 23 players. I can't actually select players, so I'm stuck with the default selection. Then when starting the game you only have 18 players available and after 1 game I had 23 but the remaining 5 weren't in the originally selected squad.

Huh, I've only played one kickoff match (I've started playing Road To and CYC) but when you play a match, you only have access to 18 players (11 + 7 subs), the other five would be in the reserves. I'm not sure why it's not letting you change them. You can try the settings menu and see if the squad is set to default only or custom, because in FIFA 14, setting a custom squad lets you change the squad however you see fit, maybe the same thing works in this game as well.

So this is totally blowing my mind, I just found out you can make 500GB hard drives that work on stock 360s.  I have no idea where they got the Microsoft 500GB security sector for these since I don't think MS ever made one, but I now have a craving to upgrade my 250GB drive - I'll try this and report back!

EDIT: Maybe the sector came from the Xbox One, but I wouldn't think it would be compatible with the 360.

Sorry, I worded that wrong. Shouldn't have said when you start the game. I only have access to the first 18 players in team management in the menu of that game mode. The reserves are just gone.

I looked it up online and I'm not the only one with this issue. So yeah I'll just try messing with other settings and see if I'll get it fixed somehow.

Is there still going to be a sale for Xbox One Tonight? I know they usually add a game or two each week on Monday but I don't know if the ultimate game sales is going to push it back.

Can someone compare The Witcher 2 to something else? Is it like Borderlands? Diablo? Skyrim? Just trying to get an idea of whether I'd like it...
It's first person like Skyrim, but more story oriented, and has separate areas you can't return to once you've progressed. You make choices that decide where your story goes, and people often play out both decisions.

To me it's like a more mature version of dragon age with a hint of Dark/Demon Souls and a dash of Mass Effect's Action/RPG element. Also a hate it or love it combat system. Story is one of the better ones. The exploration is great. Main character is likable. One decision determines your path for the rest of the game. Side quests are actually fun.

It is not first person like Skyrim. It is third person, and I recently finished my first playthrough and while the combat took some time to get used to, I really enjoyed the game, story and lore. I haven't played Dark Souls yet, however I've seen some people comparing both.

I picked it up when it was on sale for $7 a few months ago, but got stuck dying in the first small arena training area. Gave up on it after that. I keep meaning to go back to it but that kind of soured me on it.

A more action-oriented Dragon Age is what I'd liken it to. Skyrim isn't a fair comparison, as combat in The Witcher actually works, there's challenge, and you'll actually become invested in the story/characters. But to echo another poster, once you leave certain areas, they're blocked off forever, so there isn't the grand sense of exploration you'd find in Skyrim.

As far as design goes, it's basically a medieval Mass Effect in the sense that it is an "open world" split up into sections with an abundance of NPCs and side missions.
The combat is a little Dark Souls. You have a light and heavy attack with a block, parry, and riposte. You also get a Mass Effect-esque power wheel that slows down the action as you choose which power to use.

Be warned that this is easily the hardest, most unforgiving rpg I have ever played. It is beyond inaccessible to new players and it doesn't make any attempts to hold your hand. If you don't like crafting potions for 10 minutes at a time and extensive planning before each enemy encounter, this game is not for you.

That being said, the Witcher 3 demo at E3 blew my mind and made me want to give 2 another try.

I upgraded to a 500 GB HDD a few months ago after filling the 250 GB that came with my system.

K, noob question since I haven't bought anything directly through my PC for a bit.  I have a bunch of XBL credit but the default payment method coming up is my credit card when trying to purchase Walking Dead Season 2 Pass.  Not seeing the option to switch payment method to my XBL bucks. Do I have to make the purchase from my Xbox to use the XBL bucks?
