This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

It looks like tonight's date ended up being a high maintenance gal. At last i get my longed Vergil's Downfall DLC.

Out of all the RE, i think i've only played RE0, RE1. Now i'm looking at RE4 (which is an auto buy from what i've heard and read), RE: ORC, RE: Veronica X, RE 5 and Untold Stories, RE: Rev. Any insight or sustained suggestions of which ones i should grab and which ones i should avoid will be highly apreciated.
RE4 is a must-buy. I was a big fan of RE5, especially if you have someone to play co-op with. Most of the people who dislike it do so as fans of classic RE and survival-horror, whereas RE5 trends more toward just being a 3rd person shooter with mildly creepy enemies (which, to be honest, RE4 basically is as well). If you're not looking specifically for some survival-horror, it's a lot of fun. I haven't played the others, except for Revelations on 3DS, so I can't speak to how good that port is.

Honestly don't play it that much enough enough to even care about customs.

If they are what I think they are.

What exactly is customs anyways? Care to explain?
Custom songs that people on the Internet have made or ported over from other music games. The best site for them is C3. If you don't play that much then you probably won't care. It's pretty awesome being able to import the entire Beatles Rock Band game as customs into RB3 though. You don't need a modded console or anything, but you do have to have to have a pre-update5 RB3.

EDIT: Holy crap they just released "Everything is Awesome!" from the LEGO Movie as a custom. I have to get that! :D

Oh so its basically free songs?

And you just have to clear cache and it allows you to play them?

Is it pretty simple?

Also thanks for the heads up.

RE Hierarchy:
Veronica
Revelations
6
4
5
I have never heard of Untold Stories.
...
Operation Racoon City

Of those, Veronica, Revelations, and 4 are the safest bets. Revelations is a better standalone story than Veronica, and is the most sucessful blend of action, horror, and exploration in the series. Veronica has got more in the way of "classic" puzzles, and is the most similar to what you've already played.

Typically you would copy them to an Xbox-formatted USB stick using software like Party Buffalo on a PC. The downloads are free, but my policy is to own the source material of any song I download - either the game it was ported from or an MP3 for songs that were never in a game to begin with. I have a copy of Guitar Hero Van Halen I've never even played simply because I use ports from it in RB3.

Longtime RE fan opinions. I've played pretty much everything a lot. Longer opinions to cover the games that have a somewhat mixed opinion generally.

-Only one would I'd really say avoid entirely is ORC. It's pretty unpolished and dead as fuck online. The only potential draw it ever had was nostalgia from 2 and 3. Half the game is locked behind DLC too, a whole second campaign where you deal with classic characters more. Like any game, it's fun with friends, but it's like a 70% finished L4D to me.

-Code Veronica is the only classic style RE available on 360. A good game, though it's pretty much a direct sequel to RE2, with Claire being the main character, not that big a deal really. Has one hard as fuck achievement.

-RE5 is alright. It's the last game that really tried to wrap up the classic story-line, before the clusterfuck of no ideas in 6. It's not as scary as the old games because of the daylight heavy setting. Hit and miss overall, I had issues but honestly like the game better than 4 in a lot of was. Gameplay was some of my favorite this gen, though a lot of people bitch about the partner AI if playing alone. Mercs is pretty good, versus is a mess. This game was Capcom not knowing what to do after Mikami left the company, but trying their hardest. 6 was them not trying and going for a reboot feel without rebooting.

-RE5: Desperate Escape DLC is pretty much a big shitstorm of pure fighting. Alright if you like the gameplay of RE5, but skippable. Stars Jill and Josh.

-RE5: Lost in Nightmares DLC is an homage to the classic games. Limited ammo and weapons, puzzle solving, a mansion-y setting, and even an easter egg option to play the whole DLC with fixed camera angles. Stars Chris and Jill. Highly recommended.

--- Untold Stories has both of the above DLC, I'd say it's worth it on sale.

-Revelations is another recommend for me. Since it was a sort of spin-off while not really being one, they got to use modern and classic elements mixed a little better. More modern controls and mechanics, but not really a balls to the wall roller coaster of non-sense like RE6. Much of the game is exploring one large location in the style of the old games, with a higher scare factor that the last few games. Weapon customization is good, and they expanded Raid Mode a decent amount from the original release on 3DS. Most of the complaints reviewers and such had were from higher expectations than I think a 3DS port should have had. It blows more recent transitions like Bam Ham Metroidvania and Castlevania out of the water, and is on par with the quality of port and slight improvement that Peace Walker received.

You had enough plastic guitars to get like 3 grand? Seems suspect.
It was this one - an SE Paul Allender... Beautiful guitar, but then I found the Best Buy sales and I sent the PRS to another lover so I could bed some more Fender ladies...

As usual, CAG's never fail to deliver. Thank you all for taking your time to type your insights. Definitely think i'm almost decided on what i will get. Also, don't know if it has been said but XBLDB is showing Final Fight: Double Impact at 3.99, Bionic Commando: Rearmed at 4.99.

Does anyone know if RB3 supports the song import from previous games like RB2 did? Already have the license for the first game transfer but would have to "rent" the games again.
Rock Band 2 imports work, just not the 20 free track imports. harmonix said this back in April

"Additionally, after 5 years of availability the 20 Free DLC offer from Rock Band 2 has expired, and the redemption page is no longer live. As with other previously purchased / downloaded content, if you already have these tracks then nothing changes for you."

If I buy the digital version of Rock Band 3 can I import the songs into Rock Band Blitz? I dont have any plastic instruments to play the game with but I would like to know as I am addicted to Rock Band Blitz right now.

I'd recommend FF double impact. It's fun to play online and just drop in a random game with people and thanks to a sale there should be some games...

The Doors pack for Rock Band 3 is on sale for $10 for Gold subscribers. It includes:

Hello, I Love You
L.A Woman
Light My Fire
Love Her Madly
Love Me Two Times
Peace Frog
People Are Strange
Riders on the Storm
Roadhouse Blues
Soul Kitchen
The Crystal Ship
Touch Me

And those are Rock Band 3 dlc songs, so keyboard and pro instruments are supported. I'm going to see if any other Rock Band 3 packs are on sale, so far the Queen ones aren't.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Harmonix posted this about the RB2 imports back in April

"Additionally, after 5 years of availability the 20 Free DLC offer from Rock Band 2 has expired, and the redemption page is no longer live. As with other previously purchased / downloaded content, if you already have these tracks then nothing changes for you."
I think that is referring to the free songs that you get for buying RB2. The code was on the back of the manual. Should still be able to import songs as far as I know. Had some friends do it a couple months ago when they picked up RB3.

The only other pack I'm seeing is the RB3 Bon Jovi pack. It's also 12 songs, $10, and for Gold only. I think American Idiot was already mentioned. I haven't checked single songs or other dlc I already own; I do have The Doors. Hopefully it's a good size sale, and a list will be posted by Major Nelson or Harmonix.

Got excited for a second, since i need GER/JP version of BC Rearmed, but the sale is not available in Japan and Germany apparently. :/

Ah well, looks like nothing for me then.

I think that is referring to the free songs that you get for buying RB2. The code was on the back of the manual. Should still be able to import songs as far as I know. Had some friends do it a couple months ago when they picked up RB3.
Yeah, you're right man. Edited my previous post. Oooops

Ok guys I was going through xbdb.com and here is what caught my eye:

Mega Man 9 (I own 10 I figure this is more of the same?)

Final Fight Double Impact (at this price if it has still working online its a no brainer)

Dead Rising 2:Case West (ok now on this one if I wasn't to excited on DR2 OTR should I just pass this one up? I guess im just not a huge DR guy?

DmC (for this I already own the 1 2 3 HD collection and 4 I got off the summer sale I figure may as well get em all right? lol)

Resident Evil 4 (same deal for this series I have 5 6 and Revelations don't care for Veronice or RC

Asura's Wrath (I may need to watch a video of this one, seems cool but the opinion here hasn't seemed great also how annoying is the qte? that could be a factor

haven't played a music game in many years too bad i dont have the instruments. playing keytar seemed interesting. also remember when people cared about music games?

They're still fun, I'm just happy I don't have to feel like I need to buy a new expensive bundle of easily broken plastic instruments that take up my entire house every year.

I've got an unopened deluxe Beatles Rock Band set I keep holding off on opening since I still have my old RB1 instruments as well as a few GH guitars to choose from if I ever get the urge to play RB, which has been a few years now. Could fall victim to some cheap DLC though.

I would keep that sealed, those instruments have actually gotten decently valuable and was helped by there being a lot of defective ones (like most plastic instruments).

Mega Man 9 is similar to 10, but it's an overall better game. 9 has the same spirit of innovation as Mega Man 2, while 10 is fatigued and exhausted, in the same way that later MM games were. Both games are viciously tough, so keep that in mind before you buy them.

Asura's Wrath is not much of a game - you rarely have full control over your character and when you do have at few points, the combat is pretty basic with zero variety. It's basically interactive movie with tons of qte's.

From that list go with mega man 9 and RE4 (one of the top games during NGC/PS2 generation).

btw: haven't played DR Case West, but heard that you are forced to use guns and it's worse than Case Zero and the main game.Using guns has never been fun in this series, you know.

Looks like another sale with nothing for me. It's a big list, but not one game I would want (not counting the DR games, which I already own all of them)...

RE 4...meh...gave up on the RE games when it switched focus to non-zombie-horror co-op crap. Hate co-op games...

This week of deals is now complete. We now officially know that praxus hates everything from this sale.

Fixed that for you.

I do wish that a lot of the stuff was a dollar or two cheaper. $5 is an easy impulse buy but up closer to $7 I'm going to think about it more.
