This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

You guys ever finish a game...look at your backlog and try to decide on which one you want to play next....then after an hour say "fuck it" and end up not wanting to play anything at all?
I ended up putting Rocky 2 on through Amazon Streaming tonight. I must have watched it a dozen times or more by now. The only gaming I did was on Family Guy Quest for Stuff.

I have Mass Effect series, Bioshock series and Gears of War series all waiting because everytime I go to start the first one I always worry about not having enough time to really get into the story.

So MS just sent me the July summary email.

Included was this stat:

:/
I wish that e-mail actually told you what game was your most played, and not hours of unknown game. My e-mail says I played a game for 2199 hours, but I have no clue what game that could be. Maybe Halo 3? Or Happy Wars?

That's easy to resolve; Gears of War really has no strong story. Fight enemies (1), kill stuff (2), battle contrived, Deus Ex Machina storytelling (3), and wonder why Cole ages so inconsistently (Judgment).

Yeah I have 3023 hours. That's for Saints Row MP, which I probably haven't played in 1-2 years. 100% sure it is that game.

My most played game last month is Gears of War 3 MP, but that isn't my most played game yet. It will eventually be my most, I'm probably pretty close already.

Lmao damn guys, that's exactly what happened to me. I was looking at my 360 backlog. "Hmmm...Injustice, Dead Island, Ninja Gaiden RE, Dead Rising 2 Off The Record...nope." Then I looked at my Blu Ray collection for half an hour. I settled on AlienS for the 5,000th time but was too lazy to out the disc in. Finally decided to post on CAG about my propensity to spend lots of money on entertainment only to seldom use those items to actually entertain.
Same here, I usually end up playing Fifa/Pes/Titanfall :/

But I finished Mass Effect last week, yay!

Raptr seems to be pretty accurate at tracking play time, I've been using it for years.

Calling it now: Crytek sale next week.

On the subject of backlogs, I've pushed everything aside now that I've fallen down the "regeneration" rabbit hole in Titanfall. Never was a big "Prestige" guy, but holy hell this is addicting.

I don't know if someone has already said it, and I won't read the 30+ pages you guys posted since last time I joined the forum LOL, but you need to know that at the moment there is an unattainable achievement for Darkstalkers Resurrection. The one called "all eyes on you" where you need to upload 5 videos to Youtube.

It seems that as CAPCOM wasn't happy with the game purchases (it's understandable, since It could be a way better product), they stopped that service or it crashed and it doesn't seem that they are doing anything to fix the problem.

edit: seems it's fixed. I'll post something once I manage to upload the replays.

It is great reading that everyone here is taking the opportunity during this calm before the storm of holiday releases to work on their backlogs. I just finally finished my task of playing for 75k gamerscore just for the almost 3% rebate for Xbox marketplace purchases from Xbox Rewards. So I too, am in that mode where I am staring at the cases on the shelves and digital collection and cannot figure what to play now. I am currently pondering paying a kid to teach me how to play Minecraft, so I can prepare myself for some informative murder porn due out on the 360 later next month.

It is best to work on backlogs now, because this holiday season is just filled with great offerings from The Legend of Korra, Persona 4 Ultimax, Dengeki Bunko FIghting Climax, Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd, [EDIT: Forgot Arcana Heart 3: Love Max!!! is due out in the US too] etc. All of which I foresee eating into my bank account, and why I'd want to save as much as I can now to prepare myself. That's not accounting for all the unexpected but interesting games/content I do not see coming yet destined for my backlogs. Yet my indecision stymies me for what to tackle next, especially now that I am freed from the need to earn gamerscore. Which is why I always hope for some co-op partners on Live to help me make my decision for me.

Beat-em-ups make the best co-op games.

Definitely pick both up if you have people to play with.
Brawlers are some of my most favorite of games. It is possible for me to play and enjoy them alone. I am still hotly anticipating the new DLC still planned for release on the 360 for Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds which I will get with or without others pushing me for it. I have fond memories of playing brawlers alongside friends, family, and strangers (ah, the rose-tinted arcade days) and it would be an enhancement if I can play it alongside others. However, now I have no one to co-op with on Xbox Live, yet I keep buying all these brawlers, hoping to find a good group. I leave my gamertag here, the invitation is always open, just be sure to have a mic and mention CAG (because I know there's all sorts of random invites for less virtuous reasons than co-op play).

What is it with people lowballing game publishers? Someone earlier said they would have paid $5 for Resident Evil 6 if it was included in the sale. I'm sure Capcom is desperate for your $5, which is only like $3 worth of purchasing power in Japan. This is similar to when people were speculating that Microsoft would make XBL free and instead they raised the price to $60.
I guess it is a result of me being too poor but desiring a lot for games, the usual economic issues. I do want the rest of the DOA5U costumes but I am not willing to pay the current asking price. My conclusion, given the high price, at this time I choose to live without the content despite really desiring it. Sure, I would prefer a price of free, but I am still willing to pay some money for the content. So I am sure the publishers also weigh in if they even want my lowball amount of money, and obviously in this case they do not at this time. With digital products, there may be less cost to the publisher, especially as time goes on, and I would hope that they do not mind getting what revenue I am willing to offer.

Capcom's obviously not desperate for my money. Yet, I just hold on to that hope that they'd still want something for the Megaman 9/10 DLC, Resident Evil Revelations DLC, Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike Online Edition color/music packs, and Lost Episode 1 & 2 for Asura's Wrath. I mean, they can't be that hot of sellers at this time, can they? Or I can keep saving for all those aforementioned holiday titles.

See, I have a family who hates board games. At least, they hate the best ones. I love the long games like Risk and Monopoly, but everyone else hates them.
I always thought Monopoly had broken mechanics (in my day, I do not know if the rules have changed these days). With 4+ players, chances are somewhat low to naturally roll and purchase a color set the first time around, added with the constant generated funds through "go" it seems never-ending. So eventually games pretty much have their turning point at "the deal(s)". You know, where immunity, profit sharing, high interest rate leasing, limitation of terms, etc. are brokered forcing all other players to make their own deals causing the same stalemate. The deals themselves are the actual strategy. Pretty much causing the game to end not with a victory condition, but more likely an ultimate not giving a fuck. Which is why I love Culdcept Saga on the 360, which takes the Monopoly formula and actually makes it good [the game was one of the reasons I got a 360].

Risk was pretty much "take/keep Australia" until newer editions like Risk 2210 added the extra complexity for the field and card gameplay mechanics made the game work in my opinion. This is a good place to ask with all the Xbox fans, how is the Halo Risk, I have not tried it yet, but is it up to the standard of 2210? Sometimes I feel the update patches fix a lot of mechanics of the old broken games.

Anyway, for board games, I guess I'd give you a recommendation to History of the World since you enjoy the Sid Meier's Civilization games (I do too, love both games a lot). Also a shout out to Cosmic Encounter, just cause I enjoy our own house rules of having dual powers (try it, there's some interesting combinations).

Everyone in the last few pages wishing for another Rockstar sale can fuck off.
Has anyone played Grand Theft Auto 5 ? I know it's a niche, indie game but I thought someone could give me their opinion on it.
Ever feel this thread has reached maximum sarcasm implosion? Never for me. Yet lately I guess all our in-jokes with date night, Rockstar/2k bling/etc. has caused some misunderstandings. Keep up the good work everyone, I am still amused with all the posts ^^.

Date night is approaching in a couple days, I just hope Microsoft doesn't have the nipple easy-access shirts to give us the run-around on deals.

[EDIT: Thanks Sanges99 for the encouragement ^^]

According to a few people at TA, it was fixed when Ultra came out. One guy unlocked it a few days ago. I'll try later today.

EDIT: The problem is fixed. If anybody is from Germany, there might be some stage music that can prevent you from uploading a video. 2 out of 5 were banned in Germany because of the music. Achievement unlocked :)

EDIT: The problem is fixed. If anybody is from Germany, there might be some stage music that can prevent you from uploading a video. 2 out of 5 were banned in Germany because of the music. Achievement unlocked :)
Really? Man, I've been trying to upload the replays everyday this week to no avail (I tried it again like 6 hours ago, and I'm from Europe too) @_@

edit: so something as simple as a stage music doesn't let you upload them? I've tried like 4 different videos, but I don't know which stages were. Will try all the replays I have tomorrow to see if I have more luck.

I'm not sure if that is the cause or not, but that is my best guess. I'm in US and was able to upload them without any problems. It was actually a lot faster and smoother than 3S and Ultra uploads. I used Night Warriors.

Has anyone ever had any trouble with the start button on the Xbox one controller being totally unresponsive and not working before? Cause I'm having that problem now

The top comment for the video below contains codes for the newest indie game, Indiemon Thunder Region. It looks like a crappy Pokemon clone, but could be fun. I used code 5. As of this post code 4 was still available. Didn't test the others. More codes will be posted once all the ones there are used.

Yeah, was going crazy trying to fix it.

Just unplug everything, and I mean everything on the X1 and then start it up again after a minute.

If that doesn't work, pray.

yea didn't work :/ but Microsoft said to send it to them and they will send a new one since it still under warranty but I think it stupid to have to pay the shipping to them for it.

Checked the rest and they were all used, thanks for the heads up though.

I thought they paid for shipping. Or at least they used to. A couple bucks is still better than buying a whole new controller.

Keep an eye on the video comment section. They will post more.

[EDIT: Thanks Sanges99 for the encouragement ^^]
Not to intentionally make this a full circle jerk, but I felt like I had to mention that I've been adding RISK board games to my IRL backlog (mostly because my gf and I share no friends that have any interest in games, of any variety) and Target B&M has had RISK: BATTLEFIELD ROGUE on clearance for dirt cheap for quite a while now. It seems to play like a chintzier version of the GEARS OF WAR mini-fig board game--...which has also been sitting in the stack for quite a while as well--which is "mission based" for lack of a better game mechanic term.

According to someone in the target thread(eld, maybe?) the rogue one is shit. Just cardboard punchouts.

They just posted more codes, for those interested.
This is for 360, right?

Thanks for the heads up, ended up grabbing code 12!

Thanks for the heads-up. Managed to get one from the 4th wave of codes.

yup I got a code too, thanks.

completely off-topic: Tony Stewart drove into a guy and killed him during a race today...it's a brutal video but you can look it up if you want to see it.

Yeah, just looked it up. Stewart should be charged with at the very least negligent homicide.

To be fair, Ward was jumping around in the middle of the track. When turning left in an oval, if you suddenly hit the brakes, you will most certainly slide on the right. Footage doesn't clear if he did it on purpose or not but probably nothing of sort.

Yeah, Ward was being an ass. But Stewart should have swerved as far left as he could have.

Yep, and ultimately Stewart was the one in the car and the other guy is dead so while both were likely at fault Stewart still bears the responsibility.

Well, aside from your "men," yes; the rest of the tokens are just flat punchouts... but, but ...it has various two-sided map tiles? Who doesn't like map tiles, amiright?!
I bought it at 70% off and I can't decide whether to keep it or not. Cheap quality sucks but that's also offset by paying $6 for it. The problem is that everything I've seen just complains about the quality and no one ever talks about if it's any fun to actually play the game.

I think I saw a statement by Stewarts camp that it was "business as usual" so he seems unfazed. But I have a hard time seeing as how Stewart is actually at fault at all. A guy was flipping out on the track, Stewart was following someone who was able to swerve in time but he couldnt avoid him. You would think another driver would be aware of the dangers of being on a racetrack in the evening without being in a car. But regardless someone is dead and it is very sad no matter who bears responsibility

Also on a gaming note I grabbed Lost Planet 2 for $4.99. I know its not great but im a sucker for coop shooters, so if anyone else wants to play coop let me know

I know nothing about any of this racing stuff really, but I agree that people should not just get out of their vehicle and walk on the track while there is a race going on regardless of the situation and if they get hit that kinda seems hard to put the responsibility on the person racing because there aren't exactly supposed to be people standing on the track that they should avoid. It does suck though and is sad, stuff like this shouldn't happen.

This thread is for Xbox Live deals.  There are other threads to talk about adults driving around circles in.

Yeah! This thread is reserved for talking about cartoons, movies, what's on TV, internet gif's, why aren't we playing video games, what's on Netflix, Tim and Eric sketches and discussions of 2K sales and why. BUT talk of racing?! THE LINE IS CROSSED!

just finished dead rising 3. it was pretty fun but im glad i didnt buy it and rented through GF. after playing through SO many iterations of DR2 on the 360, the third on xbone wasnt different enough that it didnt get a little boring after a while. like the first DR, its most impressive with number of zombies on screen. not that it needs to be different, for those new to the series id imagine its a bit more awesome, but by chapter 6 I started skipping side missions just to get to the end. For those looking to buy, I'd wait for the $20 range if it hasnt hit that already.

also, not once did i have someone join my game via online co op, weird. Guess that means multiplayer is already dead?

will wait on the DLC to go on sale, it looks very friend co op centric and no one else on my list plays this game. there that made it OT.

It would be horrible if random people joined your game and killed all your survivors. In DR2 it wasn't so bad because the areas were very small, so you could keep an eye on them. On top of the large amount of zombies, the large amount of weapons/clothing and very few loading screens was also impressive.

The only DLC that I've played and can highly recommend is the crazy one. It is pretty much a separate arcade game. 500 GS and lots of replay value (unlockables).

I got a month to kill before Destiny and want something story based to play.....anybody have opinions on Asura's Wrath?? I have the demo downloading now and I'm fine if it's a relatively short game.

if you like crazy ass anime its a simple yes. I'm not a huge anime fan, but I like the classics, Ninja Scroll, Akira. If you're into that, it will be a blast. Light on gameplay but really fun to watch.

I really enjoyed running through Dead Rising 2 a second time

just wondering how is DR2 Off the Record?

I know its pretty much DR2 with Frank involved

but is it a long game and worth the price?

Ohh and any tthoughts on Lost Planet 2?

I prefer OTR to any other DR titles but I'm probably in the minority. My problem with them is the time constraints. But I can spend hours in sandbox mode just having a blast and leveling up.

Lost planet 2 is ok. Pretty nice graphics, huge fun bosses, but very clunky gameplay. VERY clunky. I thought there was a demo for it. If so, give that a try. If it doesn't bug you too much then it's a decent game. I only played single player, ftr.

Is there anyone here who owns the Vergil's Downfall DLC for DmC? I just picked the game up for two bucks at TRU clearance and if the add-on is worth it, I'd like to get it while it's on sale.

Thanks
