I love those Japanese-only adult games ... frequently.

As predicted earlier (by me ;)), Dungeon Defenders will be 50% off for PS+ starting tomorrow. So if you're still debating it on Xbox and are a PS+ member, you can get it over there for slightly cheaper. I think that's what I'm going to do.
what is ps+?
PlayStation Plus, a subscription based service on PS3 that gives you access to discounts and "free" games from Playstation Network.

And I don't bring it up to start a discussion between the 2 platforms, only to try and inform.

Not a deal but hopefully 2 cool Demos are going to drop tomorrow. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and The Darkness II. I hope they keep this up. Seems like we have been getting less pre-launch demos lately. Amalur basically gives you 45 min to do whatever you want. I hope that means you can do it multiple time though.

Which makes me wonder... Why isn't there a PS+ deal thread? I dont have a PS so I'm not sure how their deals work...

There is a thread.
You have to pay $50 a year to get a small discount on some games.

You pay to get up to 50%+ discounts on games. Not just old games, but brand new releases too.

Plus you get free games/add-ons/themes and pics, which are quite awesome some months. (Like Tomb Raider Underworld, or Back to the Future Episodes 1-4, or Resident Evil 1 2 and 3).

Also you get other features like automatic downloads and updates, and backing up saves to the cloud.

Anyone still waiting for Ballad of Gay Tony to be 400 MS Points?

Playstation Plus is sometimes a great deal, but most of the time I found it to be a waste of money.
Anyone still waiting for Ballad of Gay Tony to be 400 MS Points?
That would be me.
But, it looks like it is never going to happen. So, I just may not ever end up getting it.

that sounds infinitely better than what I pay for on xbox

I agree. I rarely play online so I'm really paying just for the gold sales, and I doubt I save enough for them to be worth it.
Anyone still waiting for Ballad of Gay Tony to be 400 MS Points?
I'm sure it will happen sooner or later. GTA IV content seems to get discounted 3+ times a year, so one of these times they're bound to offer it at 400, or maybe 600.

i forgot, but can we still play those games we purchased at a discount if we stop subscribing?

It'll probably be like the Just Cause 2 Demo where you have a time limit and have to restart the demo after it expires. You also get some Mass Effect 3 armor for playing the demo I believe.

You have to beat the demo to get them only reason im playing it tbh

That never happens, you get free rentals that stop the second you stop the service

Also forced updates are bad, that's how Sony screwed over their customers when they got rid of features.

Don't want to start a war in the Xbox live thread about PS+, but I have both and I can definatley say that I feel I get more value out of PS+ than Xbox live gold. The automatic game updates are great and so is the cloud storage for saves. Plus the free "rentals" are awesome, because after I beat a game and get the trophies I rarely go back to it anyways so I really don't care if I can't play it again after my sub expires.

Me too
Xbox Live updates games too, for free, whenever you want.

What Sony does it force all updates onto your console because when you agree to their service what you're also agreeing to is Sony having full control over all the contents of your hard drive and the ability to add or remove content (theirs and yours) any time they wish.

The rentals? Gamefly is better and cheaper

Also even after paying for PS+ there's no crosschat

Oh, Xbox has cloud storage too, that's not special

Source? Googled it and couldn't find any info

I'm not a hacker so I don't care if my console is updated by sony with the latest firmware. I was also talking about the latest game updates that can sometimes be big files being automatically downloaded over night. So when you want to play the game you can without sitting through a long update first. Which if you want to have any online features you would have to update anyways (Just like Live). Gamefly is not cheaper the cheapest plan is $7.95 x 12 = $95.40 a year and they don't offer some of the "rentals" PS+ does.

Sure, but Gamefly offers access to PS3, Wii and Xbox games. You're comparing apples to oranges. If I was going to splurge on one service it would be gamefly but alas I like to own my games so I'm not a fan of rentals.

Thats a very strange way to look at it. I assumed the perfect comparison WAS Xbox Live Gold Vs PS+ (Which i only posted the PS+ info here because i assumed the fanboy-ism wouldnt start)

Either way, most people who signed up also did it for the other promo's (I signed up for the PS Play promo during the summer, because it was cheaper to get Plus and buy all 4 games than to pay full price)

I know I am coming in on the ass end of this convo. But If you stack the 2 up next to each other Ps+ vs. Live.

Live wins everytime, when people say price comparison. To me that says your not looking for deals, I have always been able to find 3 month xbox live card here for around 10 bucks and ps+ sub go for cheap here as well.

As far as content how they handle content and downloading. I prefer xbox, as when I buy a game no matter if it is bought when I am under a special subscription or not. I bought it, its mine you shouldn't be allowed to take it away and sony does just that if you do not keep up with your subscription.

My final comparison would be the updates to titles. Yes sony gives you the option for them to automatically update. But the only reason people say "oh thats awesome" is because alot of the updates are freaking huge. The only reason i have no completed Heavy Rain, is because last time I turned it on. It said it had to download a 1.5gb update fuck THAT! And sony server speed is not tthat great. That is a fact that has been proven since the system came out. I have fios and its still slow.

Now don't get me wrong I love all of my systems all 12 of them. But when it comes to online services, xbox live and also steam blow sony out of the water. I would have thought sony would have put pride aside by now and just tried to implement some of these 2 services into theirs. But they refuse, and thats why they are so behind.

Back to the thread topic, I don't have a i-device anymore is this quarrel game coming out any good?

I told myself I wasn't going to add to this borderline fanboy debate (as I own both Xbox and Playstation), but I just want to point out that anything you pay for while being subscribed to Playstation Plus is yours forever. The only things that go away when your subscription lapses are things that were given to you for free. So, in my opinion of course, whenever you stack PS+ against a Gold subscription, PS+ wins every time. You get discounts which I would say are very comparable to the DOTW, as well as free games (even if you dont keep them forever, I've gotten many games I wouldn't have played otherwise), game trials (basically you play a full game for an hour), and a lot of the time you'll get into some pretty cool betas. Sure downloading stuff on Xbox is a lot faster and less of a hassle, but in terms of pure value, I think its hard to make the case for gold.

Keeping on topic with the thread. Anyone know when the DLC for Iron Brigade is getting released and how much it will be? I coulda swore I heard that it was going to be free, but I'm not sure.

Stop feeding trolls!

Anyways, where are the GTA IV discounts? I mean, I don't want them, but I don't see that xbldb picked them up? Are they live?

I know this is out of nowhere but I just played the trial for Braid (don't laugh!), and it was awesome! Can't wait for it to go on sale for like 100th time.

Well i'm surely no fan boy, if I had the greenbacks I would have a PS3 too. Anyone else here upset that The Last of Us is a PS3 exclusive? Bummer.
I know this is out of nowhere but I just played the trial for Braid (don't laugh!), and it was awesome! Can't wait for it to go on sale for like 100th time.
Braid is still my favorite XBLA game. Easily worth 800 points, but totally understandable if you want to wait for a sale, since it does go on sale fairly frequently.

I think the confusion with the Trenched DLC being free was mixed with the TU. When they patched and added survival mode as a freebie (which in itself could have easily been a paid DLC addition). the DLC going to mars on the other hand is not. I am looking forward to Rise of the Martian Bear DLC...the screenshots and art direction look great as well as the Easter egg(s).
Really guys? Do we really need a XBL vs PS+ debate?
I don't know what you're talking about. ;)

I don't see any XBL vs PS+ debate going on in here.

You guys should try The Misadventures of PB Winterbottom (type Winterbottom in XBLA search) and The Adventures of Shuggy if you liked Braid. I own Winterbottom but just checked out the demo for Shuggy last night and really liked it; it's like a cross between Braid and Super Meat Boy. I remember being interested in Shuggy before it came out but completely forgot about it.
Really guys? Do we really need a XBL vs PS+ debate?
It is the internet, so yes... yes we do. It may not be the quality of debate that say whether or not waffles are better than pancakes would be, which they obviously are, but still if anonymous people couldn't debate on the internet than what would there be to do on the internet besides look at porn?

Because honestly there is almost no thread on CAG with more than one page that doesn't have some form of debate (usually being whether or not the deal is actually a deal).

Well I have Bastion, and Orc Must Die to play for now, If I didn't have them I would most likely get Braid straight up. The whole time playing I was just smiling and a giggle here and there. Very impressive for a arcade title, especially an "old" one. Looks like a lot of love went into creating it.

I'm still waiting for Trenched *ahem* I mean Iron Brigade to go on sale, I can't say no to tower defense.

Winterbottom - LOVE
Shuggy - LOVE

I actually even paid full price for both of them, as I did with Braid when I first got my 360.

I have to agree with you on this one. Waffles are so much better than pancakes, it's not even fair to compare the two!

That poor guy's question about Quarrel got swallowed with the debate. Shame.

I figure for 400 points it's an instant buy since I will play it.

Wow, totally missed the memo about them adding survival mode. Finally have a reason to play that awesome game again, thanks

Any doubts about Quarrel for $5? Squash em. One of my most played iOS games and I payed a full $5 for it and worth every penny. And this one has multiplayer. Unless you just hate word games, then you should pick it up hands down.

I liked the Braid demo a lot, but when I bought the full game I was disappointed.

The art and music were the only parts of Braid I enjoyed.

Quarrel for XBLA? And with multiplayer (unlike the iOS version?) And only 400 points? I'm definitely down for that. I hope it has a good online community.
